घोघा-एकचारी स्टेशन के बीच गुरुवार की सुबह रेल पटरी टूटने के कारण कई गाड़ियों का परिचालन विलंब से हुआ। एक घंटे के बाद पटरी को दुरुस्त कर आवागमन को सुगम बनाया गया।सुबह पांच बजकर 40 मिनट पर एक ग्रामीण पटरी को टूटा हुआ देखा। इस दौरान उसे दूर से हावड़ा-जमालपुर एक्सप्रेस आता दिखाई पड़ा। उसने तत्काल लाल कपड़ा लहराने लगा। ग्रामीण को लाल कपड़ा लहराते देख ड्राइवर ने गाड़ी रोक दी। इसकी सूचना तत्काल स्टेशन प्रबंधन के साथ-साथ कंट्रोल रूम को दी गई। प्रबंधन ने अभियंताओं की टीम को घटना स्थल पर भेजा और पटरी को दुरुस्त किया गया। सुबह छह बजकर 40 मिनट के बाद परिचालन को सुचारू बनाया गया। इस दौरान हावड़ा-जमालपुर एक्सप्रेस, दिल्ली-मालदा फरक्का एक्सप्रेस सहित कई ट्रेनें विभिन्न स्टेशनों पर खड़ी रही। इधर, जमालपुर आउटर पर बुधवार को पटरी से उतरी मालगाड़ी को गुरुवार को पटरी पर लाने के कारण डाउन गरीब रथ, गया-हावड़ा एक्सप्रेस सहित कई ट्रेनें विलंब से चली। अप गरीब रथ एक्सप्रेस भागलपुर स्टेशन से दोपहर डेढ़ बजे के बजाय शाम 7.15 बजे खुली। |

Jamshedpur: Rail traffic were disrupted for about five hours today in parts of Chakradharpur division of South Eastern Railway as villagers led by a BJP MLA put up a blockade demanding stoppage of passenger trains at Ghagra in West Singhbhum district, railway sources said.Hundreds of villagers led by the MLA, Gurucharan Nayak, squatted on the track at Ghagra between Posaita and Manoharpur stations from 06.45 am and lifted the blockade at 11.20 hrs after the railway authorities assured them to look into the demand.Several long distance trains including up and down Ahmedabad-Howrah Express, Howah-Sambalpur Ispat Express, Puri-Haridwar Utkal Express, Durg-Danapur Express and Tata-Bilaspur Express were stranded at various stations due to the blockade, the sources said.The railways forwarded the feasibility report in this regard to the higher authorities and intimated this to the BJP MLA in writing, following which the blockade was lifted.Nayak threatened to launch to launch indefinite blockade if the railways failed to keep the promise to take a decision in this regard within a month.Railway sources said the rail traffic on the main Howrah-Mumbai route was restored after the blockade was lifted. |

Lucknow : Arunima lost her leg, blamed robbers Eighteen months after she hit the headlines for losing a leg after being pushed out of a speeding train near Uttar Pradesh’s Bareilly town by unidentified miscreants, the railway police have said volleyball player Arunima Sinha’s claim was false and that she had tried to commit suicide.The GRP which was probing the incident submitted its final report in the railway magistrate’s court in Bareilly a couple of days back saying there was no evidence to suggest that Arunima was pushed by anyone out of the train.Police have said the athlete had tried to commit suicide and thus jumped from the train.“Arunima who had divorced her husband was having an affair with a youth from Noida... later the youth also deserted her and thus she took the extreme step,” the Government Railway Police report said.The athelete claimed that she was pushed out of the train by some miscreants when she resisted a robbery attempt on April 11 last year.She was found lying in a pool of blood in the morning by the villagers and admitted to the district hospital. One of her legs had to be amputated following infection.Police had then contested her claims. They said there were many ‘loopholes’ in Arunima’s statement. The chain that miscreants tried to ‘snatch’ from her was found in her purse. |

South Eastern Railway (SER) has registered the highest growth rate of 20.36 per cent amongst all the Railways zones in the passenger reservation system (PRS) earnings during the first six months of the current financial year.The total PRS earnings of South Eastern Railway during April to September period of 2012-13 has been Rs 445.80 crores as against Rs 370.38 crores earned during the last year. In terms of growth in PRS earnings, South Eastern Railway was followed by North Western Railway, which registered an increase of 16.63 per cent.Also, as far as the number of passengers booked on PRS is concerned, SER has registered the highest growth of 15.31 per cent amongst all the zonal Railways during April to September 2012-13. The total passenger earnings of Rs 630.43 crores of SER was 14.96 per cent higher than last year. |
