Indian Railway is working on a new tourism policy to boost tourism and attract tourists to travel through trains. Railway is aiming seamless and hassle-free movement across different tourist sites throughout country. The public transporter has already circulated a draft tourism policy to its various stakeholders. It is clearly mentioned in draft, “Tourism will be one of the frontline activities with the railways and the scope will be increased by focusing on domestic and international tourists.” Railway is targeting a substantial revenue through special tourist trains as all these trains’ runs on special fares. To launch a diverse range of products railway’s infrastructure can be utilised extensively to brighten business prospects. The aim is to operate more trains connecting tourist destinations and also by providing special train services ranging from luxury to budget sections. Railway has spotted various tourist spots where Luxury tourist trains, Buddhist Special Train, Semi- Luxury Tourist Trains, Astha Circuit Trains and Bharat Darshan Trains can be operated. Railway is aiming to attract international and domestic tourists in big numbers. Besides all this railway will also offer Flexi-package Tourist Trains, Hill Tourist Trains, State Tirth Trains, Value-added Tour package, Foreign Tourist Quota, Ordinary Tourist Trains and team Tourist Trains. |
