Security at Pune railway station has been beefed up following repeated complaints of robbery. Recently police busted a gang of auto drivers who robs passengers after picking them up from station.

Railway police has increased surveillance and are making announcements continuously asking passengers to take precautions.

Earlier cyber cell of Pune police arrested gang of auto drivers who had robbed as many as 50 passengers. Once they pick passenger from station, they used to stop their vehicle midway claiming breakdown. In the meantime they ask the passenger to wait for the alternate vehicle but in reality they wait for their acquaintance to rob the passenger.

Police now have made compulsory for auto drivers to display their identity cards issued by RTO (regional transport office).

Apart from the robbery gang of auto drivers there are other complaints against them such as never-ever any auto rickshaw take passengers on meter; the moment passenger exits the main gate, auto rickshaw drivers pounce on them and even if you try to hire from prepaid booth, there is hardly any auto available.

Last year government invited major food chains such as Dominos, KFC to sign up to e-catering service for railway passengers. Such services have solved the woes of improper or unhygienic food delivered by pantry car of the train on long distance trains.

Umpteen number of times there were reports of cockroaches or food cooked in insanely unhygienic environment in the train’s pantry car. With signing-up of major food chains to deliver pre-ordered food through mobile app by passenger, government has solved woes of passengers as they are very happy to get rid of inedible foods.

Passengers say this food is 100 times better than what they used get two years ago in compulsion. Last year the government announced a $137-billion five-year modernisation plan that includes introducing free wifi in some stations in partnership with Google.

A railway official says that our next step will be setting up of “base kitchens” at all major stations to allow serve freshly cooked food to train passengers.

RPF agents have arrested an authorised railway agent from Jogeshwari west for unauthorised selling of etickets.

The agent name Vicky Sav, runs a travel agency in the name of Vicky travels. Around 5 o clock on Monday RPF team from Andheri conducted a raid on his shop and found him generating e-tickets by using personal log-in ID. He also accepted bookings from various customers and was selling tickets at a premium of Rs 50 to Rs 150.

RPF found nine e-tickets worth Rs. 11,762 with three used tickets of Rs 5,949. Apart from etickets - one cellphone, license certificate, Rs 700 cash and an e-token was found.

Western Railway and RPF has been cracking down e-ticket sellers this festive season and has made most arrests as compared to other Rail Zones.

गाजीपुर में 55013 पैसेंजर ट्रेन जो छपरा से वाराणसी जा रही थी, का इंजन पटरी से उतर गया| पैसेंजर ट्रेन जब दुबिहां मोड़ रेलवे क्रॉसिंग पर पहुंची तो अचानक ही इंजन पटरी से उतर जाने के कारण डिब्बों में बैठे यात्रियों को तेज़ झटका लगा| ड्राइवर ने तुरंत ही ब्रेक लगा दिए जिससे डिब्बे पटरी से ना उतरें|
गति धीमी होने के कारण ज्यादा नुक्सान नहीं हुआ और करीब दो घंटे बाद छपरा वाराणसी रूट पर यातायात पुनः शुरू कर दिया गया|
मौके पर पहुंची रेलवे इंजीनियरिंग टीम और रिफिल इंजन की मदद से पैसेंजर को दोबारा रवाना कर दिया गया|

Daily commuters have been demanding a day running inte-city express from a long time between Salem to Chennai Egmore. Recently railway has introduced a day time express between Erode - Salem - Attur - Chennai Egmore. Although, this train has been introduced as trial basis from September 23 till November end but the response from commuters is very encouraging.

With reserved class fare of Rs 145 and unreserved Rs 115 lots of commuters are opting this train to travel between Salem and Egmore.

Various other organisations also are advertising about this train with help of flex and pamphlets indicating route and train timing.

Divisional Railway Manager says that if this train service enjoyed good patronage, Southern railway will make this as a regular train.

The commuters are happy that this train ran by Southern Railway has enabled them to reach destinations such as Villupuram, Tindivanam, Melmaruvathur, Chengalpattu and Tambaram during day time.

Earlier people of Salem and Egmore districts were forced to opt bus service that took too much time due to circuitous route.

After successful linking of Aadhaar Cards with LPG and passport service, the government might link railway booking and ticketing to it.

In order to check fake subsidies while booking a railway ticket in various categories like patients, senior citizens, sportspersons and eminent artists aadhar linking can act as a major tool.

The Finance Ministry has asked Railways to identify areas where Aadhaar-based verification can be applied to provide subsidies. Aadhaar-based booking system can also prevent touts using fake names and IDs for concessions.

As of now 15,000 tickets are booked every minute on IRCTC, if Aadhar verification is implemented it might affect the number tickets booked every minute.

Although runningstatus.in found too many alterations recently in punctuality of premier trains of Indian Railways along with other important trains on the busiest routes; Railway says that more than 400 trains are now reaching their destinations on or before scheduled time.

With the help of new system on super congested routes like Howrah and Patna, railway is able to move trains quickly without delay. The new interlocking system on such routes has facilitated faster movements of Rajdhani and Shatabdi trains like Delhi-Amritsar Shatabdi.

Apart from Rajdhani and Shatabdi, 350 Mail Express trains and 74 Superfast trains reach at their destinations 5 or 25 mins before than actual arrival timing.

As per officials Route Relay Interlocking can be operated solely without human involvement for holding, receiving, blocking or dispatching trains. The most congested sections like Allahabad junction underwent many changes that allowed railways to save a total of 130 minutes in rajdhani trains while 60 minutes were saved in Shatabdi trains on other junctions.

This reduction in journey time has also been included in new time table effective from October 1, 2016.
