After successful linking of Aadhaar Cards with LPG and passport service, the government might link railway booking and ticketing to it. In order to check fake subsidies while booking a railway ticket in various categories like patients, senior citizens, sportspersons and eminent artists aadhar linking can act as a major tool. The Finance Ministry has asked Railways to identify areas where Aadhaar-based verification can be applied to provide subsidies. Aadhaar-based booking system can also prevent touts using fake names and IDs for concessions. As of now 15,000 tickets are booked every minute on IRCTC, if Aadhar verification is implemented it might affect the number tickets booked every minute. | ||
