ALLAHABAD: Sleuths of RPF ( Railway Protection Force) nabbed a person dealing in sale of IMFL ( Indian Made Foreign Liquor) at Allahabad railway junction on Monday. About 40 bottles of foreign liquor were recovered from the possession of the person.The person was identified as Dinesh Kumar Tyagi, resident of Preetam Nagar of the city.While he was moving in the main hall of the city side of the Allahabad railway junction, sleuths of RPF took hold of him. About 40 liquor bottles were recovered from him.The market price of the liquor was estimated to be about Rs 20,000. He arrived at Allahabad railway junction from Prayag Raj Express.RPF inspector Anand Kumar told TOI that on interrogation, the person revealed that he was retired army personnel who worked in the Indian Army but he failed to show the identity card.The erring person was later handed over to GRP.

New Delhi: Train movement will remain suspended temporarily between Old Delhi and Shahdara stations due to Independence Day celebrations at Red Fort on August 15.

As a result, some trains will be regulated, rescheduled and cancelled on that day, said a senior Northern Railway official.

The train movement between the two stations will remain suspended from 6.45 AM to 8.30 AM, the official said.

While Azamgarh-Delhi Kaifiyat Express and Khurja-Old Delhi Shakurbasti train will be regulated at Sahibabad, Pratapgarh-Old Delhi Padmavat Express train will be regulated at Shahadra.

Kalka-Howrah Mail and Lalgarh-Guwahati Avadh Assam Express trains will be regulated at Old Delhi station till clearance.

The Dehradun-Sarai Rohilla Mussoorie Express train will be diverted towards Sahibabad-Tilak Bridge-New Delhi-Sarai Rohilla.

The Sonepat-Old Delhi-Sahibabad train will be diverted to Subzi Mandi-New Delhi-Tilak Bridge route. Departure of some trains are being rescheduled due to the restriction on train movement in the morning hour.

Shamli-Old Delhi passenger train will depart from Shamli at 4.30 AM instead of 3.15 AM.

The Old Delhi-Alipurduar Sikkim Mahananda Express train scheduled to depart at 6.40 AM from Old Delhi will be rescheduled to depart at 8.45 AM after clearance.

The departure of Old Delhi-Kotdwara Garhwal Express train scheduled at 7.20 AM from Old Delhi will be rescheduled to 8.55 AM after clearance.

The Ghaziabad-New Delhi, Old Delhi-Ghaziabad and Delhi- Shamli-Delhi passenger trains will remain cancelled.

नई दिल्ली : स्वतंत्रता दिवस के मद्देनजर 14 अगस्त की शाम से राजधानी के सभी मेट्रो स्टेशनों की पार्किंग खाली करा ली जाएंगी। आम दिनों की तरह लोग यहां गाड़ियां खड़ी नहीं कर पाएंगे। लालकिले पर स्वतंत्रता दिवस कार्यक्रम की समाप्ति के बाद ही उन्हें मेट्रो स्टेशनों की पार्किंग में गाड़ी खड़ी करने की अनुमति होगी। वहीं लालकिले के आसपास तथा रिंग रोड (कश्मीरी गेट आइएसबीटी से आइपी फ्लाईओवर, आइटीओ ) पर व्यवसायिक वाहनों (भारी व हल्के) का प्रवेश 14 अगस्त की रात 11 बजे से ही बंद करदिया जाएगा। हालांकि, सामान्य वाहनों के लिए प्रतिबंध सुबह पांच से नौ बजे तक रहेगा। अतिरिक्त पुलिस आयुक्त अनिल शुक्ला (यातायात) के अनुसार, यह व्यवस्था मंगलवार को आयोजित फुल ड्रेस रिहर्सल परेड के दौरान भी लागू रहेगी।
यातायात पुलिस ने फुल ड्रेस रिहर्सल तथा लालकिले पर स्वतंत्रता दिवस कार्यक्रम को ध्यान में रखकर वाहन चालकों के लिए वैकल्पिक मार्गो का चयन किया है। लालकिले के आसपास के इलाके को प्रतिबंध क्षेत्र की श्रेणी में रखा गया है। यहां पुलिस द्वारा जारी विशेष पास लगी गाड़ियों को ही प्रवेश की इजाजत होगी। सरोजनी नगर तथा बाबा खड़क सिंह मार्ग पर केवल मल्टीलेवल पार्किंग में ही गाड़ी खड़ी करने की सुविधा होगी। प्रमुख बाजार व इमारतों के बाहर भी अवैध पार्किंग नहीं होने दी जाएगी। यातायात पुलिस के अतिरिक्त आयुक्त के अनुसार, अवैध पार्किंग में खड़ी गाड़ियों को क्रेन की मदद से उठा लिया जाएगा।

The famed murals of Kerala will soon adorn the Kozhikode railway station, with the pictures bringing out the city’s culture and tradition.

Five mural specialists from Sargaalaya Arts and Crafts Village are decking the upper-class waiting hall near the fourth platform and the VIP lounge near the first platform. Sargaalaya says the murals will be ready for formal unveiling on Friday.

The murals will visualise the theme “Kozhikode — historical capital of Kerala” and will project the culture and tradition of the city.

The initiative comes as part of the Community Assisted Railway Development Scheme of Southern Railway, aimed at communicating the importance of people’s participation in keeping public places clean and beautiful.

“The railway passengers are sure to get a kaleidoscopic view of the city’s culture from the work. We hope to carry this art mission to nearby stations; one such work is already complete at the Kannur station,” T.K. Rajesh, general manager, Sargaalaya, says.

The project was designed after the visit of Divisional Railway Manager Piyush Agarwal to Sargaalaya two months ago, he adds.

Naveen Kumar, P. Sumesh, K. Shanmughan, K.M. Vipin Lal and M. Shamseer are working on the murals.

The Railway track doubling work between Ernakulam Town Station and  the Marshalling Yard which was proposed to begin this January is stuck in a rut.

The 1.5-km line that connects Ernakulam Junction and Town stations and the ‘D’  Cabin located at the Marshalling Yard was mooted as a solution to the rail traffic congestion between Ernakulam and Kottayam.

However, six months after the proposed work was set to begin, the project remains a non-starter.

According to the officials with the construction wing of the  Thiruvananthapuram Railway division, the doubling work currently undertaken at Podanur Junction in Palakkad has put a halt to the plans in Ernakulam.

“Whenever, doubling works takes place in one section, the Railways does not approve undertaking similar work in another section as it would affect the  Rail traffic. The work will possibly begin only next year,” the officials said.

 

Alternative Measures

If doubling work is undertaken, the traffic will be disrupted at the Ernakulam Junction and Town stations. This will require alternative measures. Traffic signals will have to be shut down in the section besides carrying out a lot of technical work at both the stations. “We have received  sanction for the work. However, unless we get a nod, the work cannot be kicked off,” the official said.

The doubling work was proposed by the Railways nearly 10 years ago. However,  a lot of technical and alignment issues had delayed the project.

“We have worked out a solid plan to be undertaken once the work begins so as to cause minimal disruption in rail traffic, the official said.

The work is part of the doubling between Ernakulam and Mulanthuruthy stretch. If the 1.5-km stretch is laid, passenger trains arriving from Kottayam and towards Ernakulam will be speeded up. This will also avoid  unnecessary detainment of trains.

रामनगर। रामनगर से हावड़ा के लिए रेल सेवा शुरू जाने समेत विभिन्न मांगों को लेकर सोमवार को ऊधमसिंह नगर से आए सैकड़ों व्यापारियों के साथ स्थानीय संगठनों ने रेलवे स्टेशन पर धरना-प्रदर्शन किया। इससे पूर्व जुलूस निकाला गया और बाद में पूर्वोत्तर रेलवे के अधिकारियों को मांगपत्र भेजा गया।
प्रांतीय उद्योग व्यापार मंडल और देवभूमि उद्योग व्यापार मंडल के संयुक्त नेतृत्व में आयोजित धरने के दौरान व्यापारियों ने पूर्वोत्तर रेलवे पर क्षेेत्र की उपेक्षा का आरोप लगाया। केशव कुमार पासी ने नई हावड़ा-लालकुआं रेल को रामनगर से चलाने, गूलरभोज-लालकुआं के बीच टांडा पर हॉल्ट बनाने और रात में रामनगर-लालकुंआ के लिए रेल आरंभ करने की मांग की। धरना प्रदर्शन का नेतृत्व बाजपुर के समाजसेवी केशव कुमार पासी ने किया।
प्रदर्शन में व्यापार मंडल अध्यक्ष राजीव सैतिया काशीपुर, व्यापारी नेता काशीपुर दीपक वर्मा, अनिल अग्रवाल, मनमोहन अग्रवाल, दिनेश चंद्रा, अभिषेक अग्रवाल, बलविंदर सिंह, पीसी जोशी, सुमित्रा बिष्ट, नीलम गुप्ता, डा. धनेश्वरी घिल्डियाल, रईस अहमद, देवेंद्र वर्मा, मोहित अरोरा, हरदयाल सिंह, सुशील सिंघल, भरतभूषण विद्यार्थी, नईम, रज्जू भैया, पवन कुमार, प्रवीन अरोरा, किरन शर्मा, शाकील अहमद आदि शामिल रहे। कहा गया कि इस मुद्दे को लेकर आंदोलन जारी रखा जाएगा।

बसंती कालोनी रेलवे ओवरब्रिज से आवाजाही शुरू होने के बाद नीचे से गये रेल फाटक को रविवार-सोमवार की आधी रात बंद कर दिया गया। रेलवे की इस मनमानी के खिलाफ अंचल के दो सौ से अधिक दुकानदारों ने विक्षोभ प्रदर्शन किया और पटरी पर उतरकर हावड़ा-मुंबई रेल मार्ग को चार घंटे तक ठप कर दिया। इस बीच रेल अधिकारियों से लेकर आरपीएफ के जवानों से आंदोलनकारियों की झड़प हुई। कांग्रेस व बीजद के नेताओं ने आंदोलनकारियों का समर्थन करते हुए फाटक नहीं खोलने पर आंदोलन को जारी रखने की चेतावनी दी। रेलवे व स्थानीय प्रशासन के उच्चाधिकारियों से वार्ता व भरोसे के बाद आंदोलन स्थगित किया गया।
रेलवे प्रशासन ने बसंती फाटक की पटरी के नीचे खुदाई करने के साथ-साथ इसे स्थायी रूप से आधी रात में बंद कर दिये जाने की खबर फैलते ही सोमवार की सुबह स्थानीय मार्केट कमेटी से जुड़े कमलजीत सिंह, रासबिहारी सामल, अशोक अग्रवाल, जी महंती, बाबू सेनापति, रीना सरकार समेत दो सौ से अधिक दुकानदारों ने बसंती बाजी राउत चौक पर टायर जलाकर विक्षोभ प्रदर्शन किया। इस मुद्दे पर रविवार की शाम सर्वदलीय बैठक तथा डीएम द्वारा फाटक स्थायी रूप से बंद नहीं करने की चिट्ठी लिखने के बाद भी चोरी छिपे आधी रात में रेलवे द्वारा की गई मनमानी से आक्रोशित लोगों ने रेल पटरी जाम कर दिया। दोनों तरफ लाल झंडा लगाकर आंदोलनकारी पटरी पर बैठ गये। जीआरपी डीएसपी दिलीप पाल, इंस्पेक्टर एम हांसदा, आरपीएफ ओसी राकेश मोहन, एआरएम मनोरंजन दास आदि मौके पर पहुंचे, लेकिन तत्काल फाटक खोलने में असमर्थता जताई, जिससे इनके बीच झड़प हुई।

The local people have come out against the move to demolish a railway over-bridge at Muthoor East in Thiruvalla town before constructing a replacement.

A 51-member action council formed by the Kuttappuzha Citizens’ Forum and the Muthoor East Residents’ Association in Thiruvalla, at a meeting on Monday, said the demolition of the old bridge to double the railway line without making alternative arrangements for vehicular and pedestrian traffic would create problems for the people.

The meeting, chaired by Jacob Kurien, municipal councillor, said hundreds of vehicles plied on the overbridge daily, as it was the lone road link between Kuttappuzha and Thiruvalla.

An all-party meeting in Thiruvalla on March 24 had decided not to demolish the bridge before constructing a new bridge parallel to it on the western side. However, vested interests were putting pressure on the Railways for the demolition.

They alleged that the demolition before constructing a new bridge would isolate Kuttappuzha, Muthoor East, Mar Thoma College, Varikkad, Paipad, Kunnamthanam and Mallappally on the northern side from Thiruvalla town and the railway station, Medical Mission Hospital, Pushpagiri Medical College, Mar Thoma Residential School and various government offices on the southern side at least for two years.
