Ludhiana: The railway authorities started the construction work of the new footbridge, which will inter-link all the platforms at the railway station. They said that the bridge would be completed within one year and would provide relief to the visitors and passengers of the railway station.Already, two footbridges exist that link certain platforms, but none of these link all the platforms. The passengers face inconvenience while moving from one platform to another. Moreover, one of the existing footbridges is too narrow and passengers have to slug it out while passing through it.The Railways had started constructing a footbridge in 2010-11, which was planned to link all the platforms and both entries of the railway station. But due to some technical problems it did not materialise.The railway authorities said that the space between tracks was insufficient to install pillars, so the authorities decided to design a new bridge. The footbridge is a long-pending demand of the residents and the former Railway Minister had assured the residents that it would be constructed soon.Ravinder Sharma, Station Superintendent, said, "The technical team found some problems in the proposed footbridge. Now, the higher authorities have decided to construct a bridge that links all the platforms of the railway station. It will provide relief to the visitors and passengers. We hope that it will be constructed within one year.

Terminal Station of Sirpurkaghaznagar-Hyderabad Express and Originating Station of Hyderabad-Bidar Express Changed



South Central Railway will change the terminal station of Sirpurkaghaznagar-Hyderabad Express and originating Station of  Hyderabad-Bidar Express with effect from 15th August, 2013 as detailed below:-



1) Train No. 17012 Bellampalli-Hyderabad Express will terminate at Secunderabad  instead of Hyderabad. This  train  departs Bellampalli at 11 00 hrs and arrives Secunderabad at 17 00 hrs o­n the same day.



2) Train No. 17010 Hyderabad-Bidar Express will depart from Secunderabad  instead of Hyderabad..  Accordingly, Tr. No. 17010 Secunderabad-Bidar Express will depart Secunderabad at 17 30 hrs and arrive Bidar at 21 15 hrs o­n the same day. In the return direction, Tr. No. 17009 Bidar-Hyderabad Express will terminate at Hyderabad as at present.

कानपुर, एक प्रतिनिधि : सेंट्रल स्टेशन से झांसी तक ट्रैक का दोहरीकरण तीन चरणों में कराने का खाका तैयार किया गया है। इस कार्य के 21 अगस्त तक टेंडर डाले जाएंगे। दिसम्बर में काम शुरू होने की उम्मीद है। पहले चरण में झांसी से एरच रोड तक 66 किमी के काम पर करीब 229 करोड़ रुपये खर्च का अनुमान है। दूसरे चरण में एरच रोड स्टेशन से ऊसर गांव हाल्ट स्टेशन तक 70 किमी के कार्य पर 194.54 करोड़ रुपये का खर्च आएगा। तीसरे चरण में ऊसर गांव से भीमसेन रेलवे स्टेशन तक 69 किमी का कार्य होगा जिसपर 225.52 करोड़ रुपये का खर्च आएगा।

118 करोड़ से पुलों का निर्माण

भीमसेन से झांसी तक पड़ने वाले छोटे बड़े करीब आधा दर्जन पुलों के निर्माण के लिये 118 करोड़ रुपये के टेंडर निकाले गए हैं।

Temporary augmentation of Jaipur-Delhi Sarai-Jaipur DD Exp train.

ALLAHABAD: Sleuths of RPF ( Railway Protection Force) nabbed a person dealing in sale of IMFL ( Indian Made Foreign Liquor) at Allahabad railway junction on Monday. About 40 bottles of foreign liquor were recovered from the possession of the person.The person was identified as Dinesh Kumar Tyagi, resident of Preetam Nagar of the city.While he was moving in the main hall of the city side of the Allahabad railway junction, sleuths of RPF took hold of him. About 40 liquor bottles were recovered from him.The market price of the liquor was estimated to be about Rs 20,000. He arrived at Allahabad railway junction from Prayag Raj Express.RPF inspector Anand Kumar told TOI that on interrogation, the person revealed that he was retired army personnel who worked in the Indian Army but he failed to show the identity card.The erring person was later handed over to GRP.

From 15th August 2013 onwards, all Metro trains on Line 5 will be having reserved ladies coach as per the following norm: -

1. Lady passengers boarding Metro trains from Inderlok/Kirti Nagar towards Mundka are advised that the last coach will be the ladies coach.

2. Lady passengers travelling from Mundka towards Inderlok/Kirti Nagar should note that first coach will continue to be the reserved coach for ladies as before.

3. For this, announcements will be made inside the trains running on this route and also at stations and guards will be deployed at platforms of this line to guide the passengers for initial period.

4. This step is being taken to ensure ‘Ladies in and Ladies out’ from the same coach and to avoid inconvenience to women passengers who had to, otherwise face difficulties in de-boarding at interchange stations of Inderlok and Kirti Nagar.

5. In addition, DMRC will make all required arrangements for Metro passengers to ensure smooth transition of this new arrangement including proper positioning of the ladies coach at the station platform etc.

6. DMRC has already implemented the same mechanism on Line-6 (Central Secretariat – Badarpur) from 16th February 2013 and the experiment has been very well appreciated by women commuters.

7. The provision of First Coach of every train reserved as ‘Ladies only coach’ will remain unchanged on rest of the lines of the Delhi Metro i.e, Line-1, 2, 3 and 4.

The helpline, which began operating early this year, is dedicated to South Western Railway in Karnataka. But very few commuters are aware of the number, and railway authorities are doing their best to spread the message to all passengers of the state.

Divisional railway manager (DRM), South Western Railway, Anil Kumar Agarwal said they've displayed the helpline number across railway stations in Karnataka. "It was launched nearly six months ago. We've received more than 100 calls on eve-teasing and other harassment. We act as soon as we receive the complaint. The Railway Protection Force attends to the problem at the next station," he said.

SP SN Sidramappa said police equipped with rifles are sent into some bogies, particularly at night. "The police personnel visit all the bogies. A police chowki manned by two policemen is active outside Bangalore City railway station. Very soon, we'll start similar counters in other railway stations," he said.

A second line

Railway authorities also introduced a helpline for Southern Railway commuters -- 090031617110. Those using a landline can dial 044-90031617110.

"The security control of Southern Railway, located in Chennai, will receive the call and act accordingly. Most often, women call us with complaints of eve-teasing and physical harassment in running trains," a security personnel said.

When youth pushed out gutsy girl

On July 25, 2012, a 19-year-old girl was seriously injured when she was pushed out of a running train by four men, after she resisted their attempts to molest her. The horror unfolded in the Yeshwantpur-Mysore Express. She was pushed out when the train reached Maddur, and fell 25 feet below on the dry bed of the river Shimsha. She was hospitalized for several weeks.
