MYSORE: The train passengers will have an additional feature to buy tickets.The Mysore division of the South Western Railway is installing automatic ticket vending machines (ATVMs ) at five places in the city railway station to help the commuters purchase the tickets easily. The ATVMs will be installed at the existing Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) kiosks installed by nationalized banks at the station. In the first phase, unreserved tickets can be purchased using the system while it is planned to issue reserved tickets in the next phase.During a meeting the senior officials of the South Western Railway had with the MPs from Mysore and Chamarajnagar on Tuesday, the officials informed the elected representatives that the ATVMs will be operational within a fortnight. A separate unit will be installed at the ATM counters which will be integrated with the railways computer network to dispense tickets. When the space for the ATM counters were allotted, it was mandated that they should have ATVMs. They are installing it now, sources told The Times of India. "The system will be integrated to issue unreserved ticket initially," they stated.Mysore MP Adagooru H Vishwanath submitted demands to senior railway executives led by South Western Railway GM A K Mittal asking them to extend facilities to the commuters. He sought additional booking counters for the traveling public when the officials explained the opening of the ATVMs.

Though 14 MPs in the Mysore division were invited to the meeting, only two attended. The interactive meeting is held following a direction from the railway ministry to hold at least two meetings with the local MPs.

The officials informed the meeting that that three Janasadharan ticket booking Sewaks is being sanctioned for the city, which are authorized to dispense tickets. They will be located at Ramaswamy circle, Shivarampet and in the vicinity of the city railway station.

The meeting discussed the track doubling work between Bangalore and Mysore and the MPs asked the officials to expedite the works. The Chamarajanagar MP R Dhruvanarayan asked for introducing of additional long distance trains from Chamarajanagar.

दीपावली व छठ पर्व के मद्देनजर ट्रेनों के उमड़ रही भीड़ को लेकर रेल प्रशासन ने हावड़ा से रक्सौल के बीच सप्ताह में दो बार एक स्पेशल ट्रेन 8 नवंबर से चलाने का निर्णय लिया है। स्थानीय रेलवे सूत्रों से प्राप्त जानकारी के अनुसार स्पेशल ट्रेन हावड़ा से प्रत्येक बुधवार व शुक्रवार को अप 03043 बनकर रक्सौल गुरुवार व शनिवार को दोपहर के 2.45 में पहुंचेगी। साथ ही 03044 डाउन बनकर उसी दिन शाम के 8.45 मिनट पर हावड़ा के लिए प्रस्थान करेगी। यह स्पेशल ट्रेन में 11 बोगियां होगीं, जिसमें 6 स्लीपर, 1 एसी, 2 एसएलआर व 2 जीएस बोगी शामिल है।

South Western Railway (SWR) will concentrate on developing its infrastructure and line capacity at different sections.

Ashok Kumar Mital, General Manager, South Western Railway (SWR) said “In the current financial year, 41.5 km of new Railway lines, 27 km of gauge conversion and 44 km of doublings is targeted for completion.”

Besides the revamp, SWR has completed its work on the 11.5 km new line between Kannivehalli-Chikmagalur, seven km of doubling between Channapatna-Settihalli, and 27 km of gauge conversion between Chintamani-Siddlaghatta.

Moreover, Mital said “The preliminary engineering-cum-traffic survey for laying of the new BG line from Mysore to Kushalnagar (84.5 km) has been completed. The survey report, with estimated cost of Rs 667 crore, was submitted to the Railway Board on October 12.”

He also stated that the land acquisition process can only be started after the work of construction of new line is approved by Ministry of Railways.

“We have taken various measures to improve safety, security, passenger amenities, cleanliness and punctuality. The punctuality of running of mail/express trains and passenger trains have been maintained 95 per cent and 97 per cent respectively up to September 2012.” he added.

Next time you visit a railway station, be careful not to leave your baggage unattended for a long time in order to avoid any inconvenience and face some ‘hard questions’ from the police.

The Central Railway (CR) has recently tied up with Nalco, a TATA subsidiary company, for installing specially concealed cameras which can detect and zoom on any baggage lying unattended beyond a decided time limit.

Railway officials said the installation work has already started in September is expected to be completed within the next seven months.

“The camera will zoom on the unattended object, so that the railway police personnel can just zero on it. Then the copscan scan it” VA Malegaonkar, chief public relation officer (CR), said.

Officials said apart from the unattended baggage, the cameras will also be fed with data of the wanted criminals. The moment the wanted criminal is captured on the screen, an alarm will be raised. “The data of the criminals will be compiled into the system along with the assistance of the city police” said a senior official.

The Railway Protection Force (RPF) will be inducting eight more sniffer dogs into their squad on Wednesday. The RPF already has 17 sniffer dogs.

While addressing the meeting of division rail users’ advisory committee Divisional Rail Manager (DRM) Rajeev Chaudhary said the construction of platform number six of Bhopal railway station will be completed by March 2013.At the meeting of the committee convened here on Tuesday, Chaudhary said travelletors and Double-decker racks will be installed on the platform number six of Bhopal railway station in the next financial year after which the platform will start operating. Besides, two lifts will be also installed in Bhopal and Itarsi railway station each.Chaudhary further said Bhopal, Habibganj, Itarsi, Guna, Ashoknagar, Bina and Vidisha railway stations of the Bhopal rail divisions are being cleaned by special machines for the convenience of the passengers.  In the 59 railway stations of the division, Unreserved Ticket System (UTS) and in 13 stations Unreserved Ticket cum Reservation System (UTS-cum-PRS) has been started.Chaudhary further informed that the gross income of the division is `677.36 crore for this year which is 46 per cent more than the division’s income than in the last financial year. Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Mandeep Singh Bhatia informed about the achievements of the division in the meeting. In the meeting, members put forth their suggestions and demands. Rajesh Dave demanded starting of Shatabdi Express from Habibganj railway station, Ajaykant Mundra demanded Ramganjmandi to Bhopal railway line construction work should be started from Bhopal, halt of Ajmer-Kolkata Express at Shajapur railway station and Khushal (Sachin) Silawat demanded drinking water facility in the passenger trains and complaint book in the trains.Earlier, the Scouts and Guides children welcomed the members. In the meeting, Senior Divisional Engineer (Coordinator) Manish Gupta, Senior Division Operations Manager Vijendra Kumar, Senior Divisional Signal and Telecommunications Engineer Shailesh Khandelwal, Senior Rail Mechanical Engineer N Vishwlal and other senior railway officers were also present.
