आसनसोल : रेल यात्रियों की भारी भीड़ को देखते हुए पूर्व रेलवे ने तीन विशेष ट्रेन चलाने का निर्णय लिया है। आसनसोल रेल मंडल के जनसंपर्क अधिकारी विश्वनाथ मुर्मू ने बताया कि 21 अप्रैल को आसनसोल से कोलकाता के बीच विशेष ट्रेन चलेगी। जो आसनसोल से दोपहर13 बजकर 55 मिनट पर खुलकर शाम 17:20 बजे हावड़ा पहुंचेगी। उसी दिन कोलकाता से पटना के लिए विशेष ट्रेन रात 20:00 बजे कोलकाता स्टेशन से खुलेगी। जो अगले दिन सुबह 5:40 बजे पटना पहुंचेगी। वहीं 22 अप्रैल को पटना से आसनसोल के लिए विशेष ट्रेन सुबह 10 बजकर 30 मिनट पर खुलेगी और शाम 17:05 बजे आसनसोल पहुंचेगी।

जागरण संवाददाता, बरेली : रेलवे ट्रैक पर पेड़ गिरने से बरेली-लालकुआं रेलखंड पर आवागमन बाधित हो गया। इस दौरान बरेली-लालकुआं पैसेंजर लगभग 50 मिनट तक खड़ी रही।
मंगलवार शाम को आई तेज आंधी में बरेली-लालकुंआं रेलखंड पर अटामांडा और देवरनिया रेलवे स्टेशन के बीच किलोमीटर संख्या 8/6 पर यूकेलिप्टिस के तीन पेड़ टूटकर रेलवे ट्रैक पर गिर पड़े। सूचना मिलते ही ड्यूटी पर तैनात आरपीएफ के हेड कांस्टेबल जेसी सिंह और गोविंद गिरि वहां पहुंचे। यह घटना भैरपुरा गांव के सामने हुई थी। आरपीएफ के जवानों ने मामले की सूचना कंट्रोल को दी और गांव वालों की मदद से पेड़ों को वहां से हटवाने का काम शुरू कर दिया। इसी दौरान 55349 बरेली सिटी-लालकुआं पैसेंजर भी वहां पहुंच गई। चालक ने ट्रैक को बाधित देखकर ट्रेन को वहीं पर खड़ा कर दिया। इसके बाद शाम लगभग सवा सात बजे रेलवे ट्रैक से पेड़ों को काटकर हटाया जा सका। इस दौरान लालकुआं पैसेंजर लगभग 50 मिनट तक वहीं पर खड़ी रही।

The Waltair Division of East Coast Railway (E. Co. R) has bagged the unique distinction of being among the select few Divisions in the country to have crossed the 50 MT mark in freight loading by achieving originating loading of 51.54 MT and freight revenue of Rs.5275.83 crore during the just concluded financial year.So, what’s the incentive it got for its consistent performance year after year? “Diversion of trains, diversion of facilities like Wagon Repair Shop (WRS) to Odisha, reduction of the quota of berths … and the list seems endless,” say former railway union leaders, Railway Zone Sadhana Samithi leaders and others, who have been consistently fighting against the ‘injustice’ being done to Waltair Division.Unfortunately, our people’s representatives have already gone into election mode for the 2014 general elections and seem to have no time for the problems of railway passengers.On April 10, ECoR announced the augmentation of AC coaches on 14 pairs of trains.There is hardly anything to cheer about for the people of Waltair Division. Only one train from Visakhapatnam to Korba was given an additional III AC coach, while the remaining AC coaches have been augmented to trains originating from Bhubaneswar and Puri. Coaches are generally added to trains, which have huge wait lists over and above the capacity of the class of coach. A large number of people prefer AC to Sleeper Class during summer.

There are about 16 trains originating from Visakhapatnam and 47 AC coaches are at the disposal of the Vizag base. The coach composition of most of these trains remained the same since their introduction.

Representatives of various organisations fighting against the injustice to Waltair Division allege that the augmentation of AC coaches was so chosen so as to avoid Visakhapatnam in most cases and some were not even running through AP.

It’s high time our MP s wake up at least now and live up to the aspirations of the people, whom they represent.

BHOPAL: The process of inviting tenders to prepare the Detailed Project Report ( DPR) for the metro rail services in Bhopal and Indore has reached its last stages.Giving this information, State Urban Development and Administration Minister, Babulal Gaur told reporters here that the metro rail would move on 28.5 kms while in Indore this distance would be 32.16 kms. The Minister said an estimated Rs 6000 crore would be spent on the metro rail in Bhopal, while it will cost Rs 7500 crore in Indore.Gaur said that a total of 24 overbridges would be made in Bhopal and pointed out that the one at the Jyoti Talkies square would be inaugurated today itself.A sum of Rs 3900 crore was being spent on development works in urban areas of the state including drinking water schemes and creation of infrastrucutre, he said.

Temporary Augmentation with 2nd AC Coach in Bikaner-Kolkata-Bikaner SF Trains.

NEW DELHI: About three weeks after TOI carried a report on one of the few mechanics in Delhi who repair vintage cars, National Rail Museum - which is celebrating 160 years of Indian Railways - has approached the man, Kaleem Khan, for getting trains and engines gifted by a merchant of Matheran and the Nizam of Hyderabad repaired. These trains have been on display ever since they were received by the museum in the 1980s but were not in a working condition. The contract, which is in the process of being formalized, will mean that Khan will have to get these vintage beauties back on the tracks.

Kaleem, elated over this turn in his fortunes, is busy procuring the parts for these trains after inspecting them at the museum. "The rail museum director asked me to meet him last week. He showed me some of the trains that are on display but not in a working condition. While most of the trains have steam engines, some have the petrol or diesel engine of a car," said the 39-year-old mechanic.

This is part of a larger initiative to revive all the engines, says Uday Singh Mina, director of the museum. He told TOI that it will take six to nine months for the trains to be repaired. The museum is celebrating 160 years of Indian Railways.

Khan's first job will be to get the Matheran Rail Car-899, a 12-seater wooden train that has a Graham-Paige petrol-run engine with 30 brake horsepower, working. "The Graham Brothers' logo on the radiator makes it a significant specimen because it indicates that the chassis was built in 1929 as all units built after that date carried a Dodge Brothers badge (which is also there)," said Mina. "It is possible the unit was 'in stock' at the Great Britain Dodge Brothers' facility while the railway undercarriage and other modifications were completed on the chassis and body, with final delivery as late as in 1932. The rail car was gifted to us in the '80s by Adam Peerbhoy, a wealthy merchant from Pune. But it was not in a working condition when it came here. After reading the TOI report, we found our man as we were on the lookout for a guy with the expertise to repair vintage car engines."

Khan is prepared for the new task. He has already procured some of the parts that will be needed for the train. "My grandfather was from UP and a mechanic too. A family in Bareilly, known to my family, had recently disposed of a Dodge Power Wagon. I bought all the parts, including tail and headlights. If other parts are needed, then the rail museum will help as they also have their workshop," said Khan.

The Nizamuddin mechanic will also work on the 1914 John Morris Fire Engine gifted by the Nizam of Hyderabad. "The fire engine is in a working condition and it is one of the oldest entries in vintage and classic car rallies. But the oil pipe leaks a lot and needs regular maintenance," says Khan. The fire engine, before reaching the museum, was in the care of the Lallaguda Carriage and Wagon workshop in Secunderabad.
