The Railway Overbridge at Nettoor will soon be a reality, said Union Minister of State for Food and Civil Supplies K V Thomas. He was speaking during the discussions on the various development projects being undertaken with the cooperation of the Railways held in the city on Monday. Once, the detailed sketch of the proposed RoB prepared by the Roads and Bridges Development Corporation of Kerala, Ltd (RBDCK) is approved by Chennai, the construction of the RoB will begin, the Minister said.

 K V Thomas has already promised ` 3 crore from his MP fund. He said that one or two Public Sector Undertakings will be involved in the funding. “The total estimate of the bridge is `7 crore. We have already given notifications for the project. Since the RoB is an immediate need of the public, a major thrust will be given for the project,” the Minister said. The need for an RoB gained momentum when the Railway gate at the western side of the Nettoor railway station was shut down.  A lot of public protest was staged over the past seven years. The Railways have currently recommended the need to extend the bridge so that it can accommodate heavier vehicles. “Currently, the plan is to accommodate only light vehicles. If there is a need for extension of the bridge, the sketch can be modified as there is enough land for expansion of the bridge,” said DRM Rajesh Agarwal. However, he admitted the cost for the construction of the bridge would escalate  with the expansion. Union Minister K V Thomas has asked the Railways to prepare a detailed report on the amount necessary for the construction of the bridge.

 Steel Yard Revival: Meanwhile, plans are afoot to revive the Steel Yard of the Steel Authority of India (SAIL) near the Tripunithura railway station so that it can be developed for construction of steel. “Steel has become an essential factor for development in the state. The yard is currently dead and there is need to revive it. Talks will be held with the authorities of SAIL in this regard,” K V Thomas said.

Western Railway Introduces 20 EMU services in Churchgate and Dahanu Road Section and extends 4 MEMU services

First EMU service in Dahanu Road-Churchgate will be flagged off by Shri Pawan Kumar Bansal, Hon'ble Minister of Railways in a function at Dahanu Road Railway station on 16th April, 2013. Shri Prithviraj Chavan, Hon'ble Chief Minister, Govt. of Maharashtra will be the Chief Guest. Other dignitaries will also be present on this occasion.
The EMU train which will be flagged off by Hon'ble Minister for Railways at 10.10 hrs from Dahanu Roadwill run stopping at all stations between Dahanu Road and Virar and then as a fast train between Virar and Churchgate. It will reach Churchgate at 12.58 hrs. Besides this, on 16/4/2013, one Virar-Dahanu Rd EMU train will be run ex Virar at 12.15 hrs reaching Dahanu Road at 13.45 hrs while another Dadar-Dahanu Rd EMU train will be run from Dadar at 18.00 hrs and it will reach Dahanu Road at 20.25 hrs. In up direction, Dahanu Rd-Dadar EMU train will be run ex Dahanu Road at 15.25 hrs reaching Dadar at 17.50 hrs. Another Dahanu Rd-Virar EMU train will start from Dahanu Road at 20.45 hrs and will reach Virar at 22.00 hrs. The regular run of newly introduced EMU services will commence from 17/04/2013.
With only a couple of trains introduced in 1867 in Churchgate–Virar section, the suburban system has become the lifeline of the city, carrying more than 36 million commuters today. The history of EMU trains in Western Railway's suburban section in Mumbai dates back to 1928 when EMU trains were first introduced. To cater to the increasing volume of commuters, Western Railway was first to introduce 9-car EMU trains in 1962. Similarly, Western Railway was pioneer in introducing 12-car trains on its suburban section in 1986. Later, Western Railway earned the distinction of being 1st railway to introduce country's largest 15-car trains on its suburban section.

15 new EMU trains have been introduced in Churchgate-Dahanu Road Section.2 shuttle trains running between Dahanu Road and Borivali have been replaced by EMU and extended upto Churchgate.2 EMU services running between Dadar and Virar have been extended till Dahanu Road and 1 EMU services running between Churchgate and Virar has also been extended to Dahanu Road.

Apart from above, 4 MEMU services which were running between Dahanu Road and Virar have been extended upto Dadar.

In order to develop the Ernakulam Junction railway station in traditional style, the Railways will hold discussions with various stakeholders.

 Talks will also be held with local people’s representatives, Railway passengers associations, resident associations and vendors so that the station can be renovated in a way that reflects the traditional culture of Kerala, said  K V Thomas, Union Minister of State for Food and Civil Supplies.

He was speaking at the inaugural function of the renovated railway concourse and the waiting hall at the Ernakulam Junction station on Monday. 

“The station will be upgraded in world class standards. The station should represent the tradition of Kerala,” the Union Minister added. Currently, KITCO has been entrusted with the responsibility of preparing a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the Ernakulam Junction station. The DPR wil be submitted within three months, he added. “Once the DPR is completed, we will be able to finalise the complete estimate for the renovation of the station,” DRM said.

  The inauguration was also part of the Railway Week celebrations which began here at the station.  As part of the Railway Week celebrations, an art workshop on ‘Architecture, Ambience and Amenities’ began on Monday. School students from standard seven upwards were given a tour of the railway station and asked to use their imagination to draw their own perceptions of the railway station. The paintings will be exhibited at the station on Tuesday.

The best drawings may be incorporated in the future design of the railway station, DRM Rajesh Agarwal added.  The programme is being jointly organised with the Kochi Biennale Foundation. Co-curator of the Kochi Bienale Riyas Komu was also present. Exhibition of stamps, display on cochin state railways history etc were also there.

भोपाल। बीना-भोपाल मेमू ट्रेन की शुरुआत अब रेल मंत्री पवन बंसल नहीं करेंगे। इनकी जगह लोकसभा में नेता प्रतिपक्ष सुषमा स्वराज मेमू ट्रेन को हरी झंडी दिखाकर रवाना करेंगी। वहीं, हबीबगंज-इंदौर सुपर फास्ट एसी डबल डेकर ट्रेन को फिलहाल मंजूरी नहीं मिली है।

डबल डेकर ट्रेन की मंजूरी में लगेगा वक्त

कमिश्नर रेलवे सेफ्टी के यहां से डबल डेकर ट्रेन चलाने की मंजूरी में अभी दो-तीन दिन लग सकते हैं। डबल डेकर के ट्रायल के दौरान हबीबगंज से इंदौर स्टेशन तक के प्लेटफार्म शेड टूटने का असर सीआरएस रिपोर्ट पर पड़ सकता है।इसलिए रेलवे प्रशासन डबल डेकर को चलाने से पहले तैयारियों पर जोर दे रहा है।

CHENNAI: In the event of a medical emergency, passengers will no longer have to wait for an ambulance and waste time as the vehicle makes its way through the crowded roads outside Chennai Central.

The railway station now has a round-the-clock emergency medical centre, with an ambulance on standby, at which passengers will be treated free of cost.

The railways opened the facility, the first of its kind in the south, on Monday. SRM Institute of Medical Sciences, Vadapalani, selected by tender, set up the three-bed centre at a cost of `70 lakh.

The Madras high court last December rapped Southern Railway for not allocating space for a medical centre despite Chennai Central being the biggest railway station in the city, with around four lakh passengers using it every day. The court had directed Southern railways to establish "as expeditiously as possibly, preferably within three months".

The centre will have three beds, two doctors on duty and another on standby, four nurses, a paramedic team and a 24/7 ambulance, said Dr Siddhartha Ghosh, CEO, SRM Institute of Medical Sciences. "It is equipped with oxygen cylinders and ECG, defibrillator and resuscitation equipment," he said. The centre will treat passengers in emergencies, including those with cardiac problems and asthma-related respiratory difficulties. The ambulance will take patients who need further attention to the nearest hospital. "This will be the first emergency medical centre at a railway station to have an ambulance on the ready round the clock," Ghosh said.

"The emergency medical centre will be useful because we have an average of two medical emergencies a day," said S Govindasamy, station manager, Central. "We earlier took ill passengers to Government General Hospital across the road. But the ambulance took nearly an hour to reach the railway station."

Railways will soon float a tender to set up a pharmacy at the station. Southern Railway chief public relations officer V JAccamma said there were no immediate plans to set up similar facilities at other stations.

"Tenders will be floated and medical centres will be set up based on the success of the facility at Central," she said.

To clear extra rush of passengers during the Summer season-2013, Northern Railway has decided to run 22 trips of Summer Special train no. 04035/04036 between Hazrat Nizamuddin- Udhampur A.C. Superfast (Weekly) Express train as per the  following programme:-

The 04035 Hazrat Nizamuddin- Udhampur A.C. Superfast (Weekly) Express Summer Special train will depart from Hazrat Nizamuddin at 09.30 p.m. o­n every Thursday from 18.04.2013 to 27.06.2013 (11 trips) to reach Udhampur at 08.50 a.m. the next day.  In the return direction, the 04036 Udhampur- Hazrat Nizamuddin A.C. Superfast (Weekly)Express Summer Special train will depart from Udhampur at 05.50 p.m. o­n every Friday from 19.04.2013 to 28.06.2013 (11 trips) to reach Hazrat Nizamuddin at 05.05 a.m. the next day.

Consisting of One AC Ist Class, Four AC 2-tier & Ten AC 3-tier coaches, the 04035/04036 Hazrat Nizamuddin- Udhampur- Hazrat Nizamuddin A.C. Superfast (Weekly) Express Summer Special train will stop at New Delhi, Panipat, Ambala Cantt., Ludhiana, Jallandhar Cantt., Chakki Bank & Jammu Tawi stations enroute in both the directions.

Thane, Apr 16 (UNI) Union Railway Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal today said the Railway ministry would give priority to Mumbai, the financial capital of the country, in provision of services and stepping up infrastructure.

  He stated this while inaugurating the Dahanu-Churchgate Local services (124 Km) on the Western Railway and also dedicated the Virar car shed to the nation.

In order to clear extra rush of passengers, 16 summer special trains will be run between Chennai Egmore and Bikaner as per the following schedule:-
Train No. 06013 Chennai Egmore - Bikaner Summer Special Train will depart Chennai Egmore at 15 15 hrs (Monday) o­n 22nd, 29th April and 6th, 13th, 20th, 27th May and 3rd, 10thJune  2013 and arrive Bikaner at 17 00 hrs o­n Wednesdays (Second day).
In the return direction, Train No.06014 Bikaner – Chennai Egmore Summer Special train will depart Bikaner at 14 55 hrs (Thursday) o­n 25th April and 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd, 30th May and 6th, 13th June 2013 and arrive Chennai Egmore at 15 00 hrs o­n Saturdays (Second day).
Enroute, these trains will stop at Gudur, Nellore, o­ngole, Vijayawada, Khammam, Warangal, Ramgundam, Sirpurkagaznagar, Balharshah, Chandrapur, Wardha, Badnera, Akola, Malkapur, Bhusaval, Jalgaon, Nandurbar, surat, Vadodara, Geratpur, Ahmedabad, Mahesana, Palanpur, Abu Raod, Sirohi Raod, Falna, Marwar Jn, Pali Marwar, Luni, Jodhpur, Merta Road, Nagaur and Nokha stations in both directions.
These trains will consist of four AC III Tier, eight Sleeper Class, four General Second Class and two Second Class Luggage Cum Brake Van Coaches, totaling to eighteen coaches.
