Gulbarga: Promising to improve the railway network of the state to bring it on par with national standards, railway minister Mallikarjun Kharge assured on Tuesday that he would see to it that the long pending demand of the region for a divisional railway headquarters was fulfilled soon."In addition to the Central, South Central and South Western Railway zones, efforts are being made to carve out a new zone," he told reporters. The proposed headquarters at Gulbarga would cover Yadgir, Bidar, Raichur, parts of Bijapur, besides Gulbarga.While the state has three railway divisions for over 3,150 kms of railway tracks, Maharashtra has seven and Andhra Pradesh, six.Kharge, who laid the foundation stone for doubling of the Gulbarga-Hotgi railway line and modernisation of the railway station here, announced that a pilot project connecting Naded with Yavatmal in Maharashtra would be launched soon as well.As for the work on the doubling of the 98 km long Gulbarga-Hotgi line, which forms part of the Mumbai -Chennai trunk route, Kharge said the project was scheduled to be completed in 30 months at a cost of Rs 350 crore. |

BHUBANESWAR: Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Saturday cleared the railway station of stray dogs, which were causing serious trouble to passengers during the rush hour. The East Coast railway (ECoR) officials requested the civic body, following TOI's report on the canine menace at the railway station earlier this month. About 25 stray dogs were taken away from the platforms. The railway officials said they coordinated with the BMC for curbing the dog menace. "In the first phase, the civic body took away nearly 50% of the stray dogs. In the next phase, we hope, the dog menace will be completely checked," said ECoR chief public relations officer J P Mishra. "We will continue to take up the matter with the BMC and launch a special drive jointly so that not a single dog is seen on the platform," he said. |

Imphal : For construction of the new BG Railway line from Jiribam to Tupul, the State Revenue department has issued a notification for acquisition of 8.64 acre of land in Khongsang village of Tamenglong district.Issuing a notification in this regard, S.Sunderlal Singh, Commissioner (Rev), Govt. of Manipur, has informed that the Sub- Divisional Officer, Sub- Deputy Collector concerned and staff under their control have also been authorised to take steps under the provision of section 4 (2) read with section 5 of the land Acquisition Act, 1894 and to submit report to the collector (LA), Tamenglong. |

पलपल इंडिया संवाददाता, जबलपुर. यूं तो भारतीय रेलवे यात्रियों को बेहतर सुविधाएं देने के नाम पर कई मदों में पैसा लेता है लेकिन सुविधाएं देने में उसकी कोई रुचि नहीं है. कमोवेश पश्चिम मध्य रेल मुख्यालय के स्टेशन जबलपुर से छूटने वाली ट्रेनों में यात्री सुविधाएं नदारत रहती हैं. बुधवार को वेरावल एक्सप्रेस प्लेटफार्म नंबर 4 से छूटने को तैयार थी इसी बीच एसी कोच के यात्रियों ने गंदी बदबूदार चादर और तकिए मिलने पर हंगामा खड़ा कर दिया. दूसरी ओर स्लीपर कोच के यात्रियों ने भी बोगी और टॉयलेट की सफाई न होने पर अधिकारियों को खरीखोटी सुनाई. |
