On Wednesday, Central Railway commuters had to face train delays as a signal at Masjid suffered a malfunction which added to the rain delay on the railway line.

Gulbarga: Promising to  improve the railway network of the state to bring it on par with  national standards, railway minister Mallikarjun Kharge assured on Tuesday that he would see to it that the long pending demand of the region for a  divisional railway headquarters was fulfilled soon."In addition to the Central, South Central and South Western Railway zones, efforts are being made to carve out a new zone," he told reporters.  The proposed  headquarters at Gulbarga would cover Yadgir, Bidar, Raichur,  parts of Bijapur, besides Gulbarga.While the state has three railway divisions for over 3,150 kms of  railway tracks, Maharashtra  has seven  and Andhra Pradesh,  six.Kharge, who laid the foundation stone for doubling of the Gulbarga-Hotgi  railway line and modernisation of the railway station here, announced that a  pilot project connecting Naded with Yavatmal in Maharashtra would be  launched soon as well.As for the work on the doubling of the 98 km long Gulbarga-Hotgi line, which forms  part of the Mumbai -Chennai trunk route, Kharge said the project was scheduled to be completed in 30 months at a cost of Rs 350 crore.

"This line  forms part of the Daund-Gulbarga doubling project which is partly funded by  ADB. The doubling will enable more freight-traffic to Mumbai and Delhi sections," he explained.

Chennai: A few trains have been partially cancelled and many diverted owing to line block from 6 am to 4 pm between Thiruvennainallur and Parikkal in Vriddhachalam– Villupuram section on July 24.Train no: 56706 (Madurai-Villupuram Passenger) will run up to Vriddhachalam and train No: 56705 (Villupuram – Madurai Passenger) will leave from Vriddhachalam on the said date.

Pallavan Express (Train No: 12606) leaving Tiruchchirappalli at 6.30pm will be diverted via. Vriddhachalam – Cuddalore Port – Villupuram and it will arrive 50 minutes late at Villupuram.

Vaigai Express (Train no: 12636) leaving Madurai at 6.50am & Tiruchchirappalli at 9.00am will be diverted via. Vriddhachalam – Cuddalore Port – Villupuram and it will arrive 40 minutes late at Villupuram. Guruvayur Express (Train No: 16127) leaving Chennai Egmore at 7.40an will be diverted via. Villupuram - Cuddalore Port – Vriddhachalam.

Vaigai Express (Train No: 12635) scheduled to leave Chennai Egmore at 1.20pm will start at 2.20 pm on Wednesday.

Similarly, pattern of train services on MMC-Gummidipundi and vice versa would be changed owing to line block in Chennai Central-Gudur section from July 25 to August 4.

BHUBANESWAR: Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Saturday cleared the railway station of stray dogs, which were causing serious trouble to passengers during the rush hour. The East Coast railway (ECoR) officials requested the civic body, following TOI's report on the canine menace at the railway station earlier this month. About 25 stray dogs were taken away from the platforms. The railway officials said they coordinated with the BMC for curbing the dog menace. "In the first phase, the civic body took away nearly 50% of the stray dogs. In the next phase, we hope, the dog menace will be completely checked," said ECoR chief public relations officer J P Mishra. "We will continue to take up the matter with the BMC and launch a special drive jointly so that not a single dog is seen on the platform," he said.

SCIENCE EXPRESS – BIO-DIVERSITY SPECIAL TO TOUR SOUTHERN RAILWAY

Science Express, originally conceived as an Indo-German joint venture, is an innovative mobile exhibition mounted on a specially designed 16 coach air-conditioned train, traveling across India since 2007.After 4 phases, this train is now running as ‘Science Express – Bio-diversity Special’, a unique collaborative initiative of Department of Science & Technology and Ministry of Environment & Forests, Govt. of India.In the current phase from 09 April to 28 October, 2013, this train is scheduled to travel to 62 locations across India.
The state-of-the-art exhibition aboard this train aims to create widespread awareness on the unique biodiversity of India, climate change and related issues among various sections of society, especially the students.8 coaches of this train are solely dedicated to showcasing the myriad biodiversity spread across the bio-geographical zones of India such as the Himalayas, the Gangetic Plain, the western ghats and so on.Further, one coach has an exhibition on Climate Change, another on ‘Way towards safe, secure & sustainable environment’ and yet another on energy conservation.‘Kids zone’ in another coach has been created for kids to indulge in fun-filled activities, games and puzzles in science, mathematics and environment.‘Joy of Science’ lab is put up in a dedicated coach.In this hands-on lab, students can perform various experiments and activities.A discussion centre-cum-training facility is also provided for orientation of teachers.

Entry to this exhibition is free and is open for all.Students and teachers are specially encouraged to visit and participate.This exhibition will be open from 10.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.

Imphal : For construction of the new BG Railway line from Jiribam to Tupul, the State Revenue department has issued a notification for acquisition of 8.64 acre of land in Khongsang village of Tamenglong district.Issuing a notification in this regard, S.Sunderlal Singh, Commissioner (Rev), Govt. of Manipur, has informed that the Sub- Divisional Officer, Sub- Deputy Collector concerned and staff under their control have also been authorised to take steps under the provision of section 4 (2) read with section 5 of the land Acquisition Act, 1894 and to submit report to the collector (LA), Tamenglong.

As certain engineering works ought to be carried out at the Thiruvennainallur and Parikkal railway stretch the schedule of train services on the Vriddhachalam — Villupuram section would be altered between 6am and 4pm on Wednesday.

A statement from the southern Railway states that the Tiruchirapalli — Chennai Egmore Pallavan Express leaving Tiruchirapallai at 6.30am will be diverted via Vriddhachalam, Cuddalore Port and Villupuram on that day and arrive 50 minutes late at Villupuram.

The Madurai — Chennai Egmore Vaigai Express leaving Madurai at 6.50am and Tiruchirapalli at 9am will be diverted via Vriddhachalam, Cuddalore Port and Villupuram, and, will arrive 40 minutes late at Villupuram.

The Chennai Egmore — Guruvayur Express leaving Chennai Egmore at 7.40am will be diverted via Villupuram, Cuddalore Port and Vriddhachalam.

पलपल इंडिया संवाददाता, जबलपुर. यूं तो भारतीय रेलवे यात्रियों को बेहतर सुविधाएं देने के नाम पर कई मदों में पैसा लेता है लेकिन सुविधाएं देने में उसकी कोई रुचि नहीं है. कमोवेश पश्चिम मध्य रेल मुख्यालय के स्टेशन जबलपुर से छूटने वाली ट्रेनों में यात्री सुविधाएं नदारत रहती हैं. बुधवार को वेरावल एक्सप्रेस प्लेटफार्म नंबर 4 से छूटने को तैयार थी इसी बीच एसी कोच के यात्रियों ने गंदी बदबूदार चादर और तकिए मिलने पर हंगामा खड़ा कर दिया. दूसरी ओर स्लीपर कोच के यात्रियों ने भी बोगी और टॉयलेट की सफाई न होने पर अधिकारियों को खरीखोटी सुनाई.

दरअसल जबलपुर से छूटने वाली अधिकांश ट्रेनों की साफ-सफाई के साथ ही एसी कोच में चादर-तकिए आदि की सप्लाई का काम निजी हाथों में दे रखा है, कागजों में तो ठेकेदारों को कड़ी शर्तों के साथ काम करने का अनुबंध है लेकिन हकीकत में उनके द्वारा दी जा रही सर्विस की जांच करने अधिकारी जरा भी रुचि नहीं दिखा रहे हैं. ठेकेदार और अधिकारियों के बीच चलने वाले कमीशनबाजी के खेल ने व्यवस्थाओं को बेपटरी कर दिया है जिसका परिणाम है कि यात्रियों को गंदगी में सफर करना पड़ रहा है. समय-समय पर अभियान चलाकर बेटिकट यात्रियों, अवैद्य वेंडर्स और घूसखोर टीटीई को पकड़ने का दावा करने वाले बड़े अधिकारी और विजलेंस विभाग इन ठेकेदारों द्वारा बरती जा रही घोर लापरवाही को उजागर करने का साहस नहीं कर पा रहे हैं.

रेल बोर्ड से होगी शिकायत- बुधवार को वेरावल एक्सप्रेस में गंदे लेनिन और बोगी की गंदगी से भड़के यात्रियों ने कहा कि जबलपुर के अधिकारियों को इसकी शिकायत करने से कोई फर्क नहीं पड़ने वाला इसलिए अब अनियमितताओं की शिकायत रेल बोर्ड से की जाएगी.
