The newly constituted Divisional Railway Users’ Consultative Committee (DRUCC) met at Railway Divisional Office, Palakkad, on Tuesday.Divisional Railway Manager, Palakkad, Piyush Agarwal, who is also the DRUCC chairman, presided over the meeting.He urged the members to help Railways in improving passenger amenities. Senior Divisional Commercial Manager P.A. Dhananjayan spoke about the railway division. Additional Divisional Railway Manager Mohan A. Menon and senior officials attended the meeting. At the meeting, K.N. Ganesan, representing the Tirur Chamber of Commerce, was elected as a representative to the Zonal Railway Users’ Consultative Committee functioning at the Southern Railway Headquarters.

As certain engineering works ought to be carried out at the Thiruvennainallur and Parikkal railway stretch the schedule of train services on the Vriddhachalam — Villupuram section would be altered between 6am and 4pm on Wednesday.

A statement from the southern Railway states that the Tiruchirapalli — Chennai Egmore Pallavan Express leaving Tiruchirapallai at 6.30am will be diverted via Vriddhachalam, Cuddalore Port and Villupuram on that day and arrive 50 minutes late at Villupuram.

The Madurai — Chennai Egmore Vaigai Express leaving Madurai at 6.50am and Tiruchirapalli at 9am will be diverted via Vriddhachalam, Cuddalore Port and Villupuram, and, will arrive 40 minutes late at Villupuram.

The Chennai Egmore — Guruvayur Express leaving Chennai Egmore at 7.40am will be diverted via Villupuram, Cuddalore Port and Vriddhachalam.

The Chennai Egmore — Madurai Vaigai Express scheduled to leave Egmore at 1.20pm will leave at 2.20pm.

A WR motorman and guard are in trouble for a very unique oversight — forgetting to halt the train at four successive stations. The motorman Vinay Gujar was driving the 5.52 am local from Virar to Churchgate and did not stop at any stations between Borivali and Andheri causing absolute chaos among the passengers travelling in the local. Senior officers are flummoxed at how this could happen. Surprisingly, guard Maheshwar Panda also forgot to caution motorman over this act of omission. According to a senior motorman, this is first case of a motorman missing four consecutive stations Mr Gujar seemed to be under the impression that it was a slow local up to Borivali and then a fast local from there on. The guard has maintained that the local used to run as a fast local and was converted into a slow local from Andheri on June 16 and the motorman may not have been aware of that. However, other motormen have rubbished this claim. “When timing or schedules of trains are changed, the motormen is given a correction slip immediately,” said another senior motorman. “I boarded the train from Mira Road and I had to get off at Goregaon station to go Filmcity. But, I was astonished to find that my train did not halt at Kandivali, Malad, Goregaon and Jogeshwari. I had to get off at Andheri and travel back to Goregaon. I wasted nearly 40 minutes,” said passenger Prakash Dubey. Western Railway PRO Nitin David confirmed the incident and said they were looking into the matter.

Two weeks after video footage of couples getting intimate on Metro trains was leaked on the Internet, another such clip has surfaced.The latest clip shows a couple in an objectionable act on the stairs of a Metro station. The clip was circulated through smartphone applications. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation accessed the over two-minute clip and sent it to its chief security commissioner for investigation."We are examining the clip and are trying to find out whether it was uploaded on any porn site. After preliminary investigation, we will register a complaint with the police," said a DMRC official.A similar complaint in connection with two other such video clips of couples getting intimate on Metro trains is pending with the cyber crime cell of Delhi Police."We do not know whether it is a recently recorded footage. We are trying to find out the source of the clip," the official said.Sources said each CCTV footage contains a camera number but this did not have any. The latest clip was apparently captured with a mobile camera.The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), which provides security in the Metro, has decided to approach DMRC to make a foolproof arrangement for the monitoring of CCTVs in the stations."This is a very serious issue and we must address the matter immediately. We will request DMRC to make exclusive arrangements for the monitoring of CCTV camera footage. This should be at a place where people from other agencies cannot enter," Udayan Banerjee, DIG, CISF, had earlier said.

The Indian Travellers’ Association (ITA) has urged the Union Railway Ministry to reintroduce the Dadar-Yeshwantpur Chalukya Express (Train no. 11017/11018) daily train.

The Ministry of Railways had extended Train No. 11017/11018 Dadar-Yeshwantpur-Dadar Chalukya Express (6 days a week) to Puducherry and Tirunelveli for 3 days a week each, from November 9, 2012.

Following the extension, the train had been re-numbered as Train nos. 11005/11006 Dadar-Puducherry-Dadar Express (Tri-Weekly) and Train nos. 11021/11022 Dadar-Tirunelveli-Dadar Express (Tri-Weekly).

In a letter to the Union Minister for Railways Mallikarjun Kharge, ITA spokesperson Uttam Osatiya said the extension of services had badly affected passengers from Karnataka, because the reservation quota of 18 stations on the Yeshwantpur-Hubli-Miraj rail route had been reduced. Passengers boarding from these stations were unable to get reservations in spite of vacancies from the originating stations.

As there was no alternative train, passengers were forced to travel by bus. Mr. Osatiya said passengers were buying tickets from Jolarpet or Salem and getting the boarding point changed to Hubli or Belgaum. They were paying Rs. 125 to Rs. 150 extra for sleeper class tickets, so as to get reservations.

The association requested the Railways Ministry to introduce a new train from Dadar/Mumbai CST to Yeshwantpur /Bangalore, like the previous one which had been running for the last 20 years.

Mr. Osatiya suggested that the new train could depart at 9.30 p.m. from Dadar and return from Yeshwantpur at 6.30 p.m., similar to the earlier timings.

The departure time of the Dadar-Puducherry/Tirunelveli could be changed from 9.30 p.m. to 11 p.m. from Dadar. On the return journey, the train could depart from Yeshwantpur at 5 a.m. to reach Mumbai at 5 a.m., he said.

If it was not possible to introduce another train, the Railways should attach six sleeper coaches, one 3-tier AC, and one 2-tier AC to Train nos. 11005/11006/11021/11022 and detach them at Yeshwantpur so that these coaches could cater to passengers from Karnataka, he said.

Mr. Osatiya has urged the Ministry to cancel the extension given to the Chalukya Express with immediate effect and run the train only up to Yeshwantpur so that it could benefit the people of the State, especially of north Karnataka.

मोबाइल रिचार्ज प्रमाणे किराणा दुकानात रेल्वेचे तिकीट बुकिंग करता आले तर? ऐकून काहीसे अजब वाटले. मात्र, सर्व काही सुरळीत झाले तर इंडियन रेल्वे कॅटरिंग अॅन्ड टुरिझम कॉर्पोरेशन (आयआरसीटीसी) खास प्रवाशांच्या सुविधेसाठी अशाप्रकारची आगळी वेगळी सेवा सुरू करण्याचा विचार करीत आहे. मोबाइलवर एसएमएसद्वारे तिकीट बुक करण्याच्या पर्यायाला प्रवाशांकडून अधिकाअधिक प्रतिसाद मिळावा या उद्देशाने या काही नव्या कल्पना आणण्याचा प्रयत्न करीत आहे. पण, असे असले तरी येत्या काही दिवसांमध्ये प्रवाशांनी जवळपासच्या दुकानात जाऊन संबं​धित प्रवासासाठी पैसे मोजून तिकीट बुक केले तर त्यात वावगे वाटण्यासारखे काही कारण नाही.

आयआरसीटीसी भारतीय रेल्वेशी संबंधित पोर्टल असून या सेवेद्वारे रेल्वेचे ऑनलाइन तिकीट बुकिंग करण्यात येते. नुकतेच आयआरसीटीसीने इंटरनेटबरोबरच, एमएसएम तिकीट बुकिंग सेवाही ग्राहकांसाठी खास सुरू केली. या सेवेद्वारे प्रवाशांना त्यांच्या मोबाइलवर प्रवासाची सर्व माहिती उपलब्ध करून देण्यात येते. तर मोबाइलवर येणारा एसएमएस तिकीट म्हणूनही प्रवासादरम्यान ग्राह्य धरण्यात येणार आहे. या दोन्ही सेवा काही दिवसांपूर्वीच सुरू झाल्या आहेत. मात्र, आयआरसीटीसी एसएमएस वर आधारित रेल्वे तिकीट बुकिंगला आणखी आकर्षक करण्याचा विचार करीत आहे. काहीच दिवसांपूर्वी सुरू करण्यात आलेल्या या सुविधेला अजूनही हवा तसा प्रतिसाद मिळालेला नाही. या सेवेद्वारे दररोज १५० तिकीटांचे बुकिंग होत आहे.

किराणा दुकानातून रेल्वेचे तिकीट बुकिंग ही योजना अतिशय प्राथमिक स्तरावर आहे. सध्या ही योजना कशी राबवता येईल याचा विचार सुरू आहे. यामध्ये दुकानदारांना कसे माध्यम करता येईल यासाठी प्रयत्न सुरू आहे. यात प्रवाशांकडून तिकीट बुकिंगचे पैसे घेऊन मोबाइलद्वारे आयआरसीटीसीला तिकीटाचे शुल्क भरण्यात येईल. त्यामुळे प्रवासी कुठूनही प्रवासभाडे दुकानदाराला रोख रकमेत अदा करून त्यांच्या मोबाइलवर तिकीट बुकिंगचा एसएमएस घेऊ शकतील. ही सेवा सुरळीत करण्यासाठी दूरसंचार कंपन्यांकडून सल्लामसलत करण्यात येणार आहे.

दुकानातून रेल्वे तिकीट बुकिंगसाठी आयआरसीटीसी संबंधित दुकानदारांना विशिष्ट रक्कम आयआरसीटीसीकडे जमा करावी लागेल. जसे तिकीटांचे बुकिंग करण्यात येईल तशी ही रक्कम दुकानदारांच्या खात्यातून वजा करण्यात येईल. अशाप्रकारच्या आगळ्यावेगळ्या सुविधेमुळे इंटरनेट बँकिंगमध्ये अनेकदा पैसे खात्यातून वजा होताना येणाऱ्या अडचणी येणार नाहीत. त्यातच रेल्वे तिकीटांमध्ये अनेक प्रवाशी 'वेटिंग' तिकीट काढतात. त्यामुळे असे तिकीट कॅन्सल करणाऱ्यांची संख्या मोठी असते. त्यामुळे तिकीट रद्द करणाऱ्या प्रवाशांना सुरळीतपणे त्यांचे पैसे परत करण्याची पद्धत कुठल्या प्रकारची राहील हे तयार करणे आव्हान राहणार असल्याचे आयआरसीटीच्या अधिकाऱ्याने

एखादी दुर्घटना घडल्यानंतरच प्रशासनाला जाग येते हे रेल्वेबाबतही कायम आहे. मुंबई आणि पुणे येथे प्लॅटफॉर्मची उंची नसल्याने अपघात घडले. त्यावेळी रेल्वे स्थानकात उतरताना पाय प्लॅटफॉर्मवर पडेल , असे मॉडेल प्लॅटफॉर्म तयार करण्याच्या सूचना केल्या. मात्र निधीच्या नसल्याची कारणे देत कोल्हापूरच्या रेल्वेस्थानकात प्लॅटफॉर्मची उंची वाढविलेली नाही. प्रवाशांना उड्या मारुन रेल्वेस्थानकात प्रवेश करावा लागतो. कोल्हापूर स्थानकात चार प्लॅटफॉर्म आहेत. पहिल्या क्रमांकाच्या प्लॅटफॉर्मवर पॅसेजर , दोन आणि तीन क्रमाकांच्या प्लॅटफॉर्मवरुन लांब पल्ल्याच्या रेल्वे धावतात. तिन्ही ठिकाणी तारेवरची कसरतच करावी लागते.

असंख्य प्रवाशांनी रेल्वे प्रशासनाकडे वारंवार तक्रारी केल्या. मात्र प्रशासनाने सुविधांसाठी रेड सिग्नलच दाखविला जातो. उंचीतील तफावत कमी करण्याची केवळ घोषणा झाली. रेल्वेच्या अर्थसंकल्पात कोल्हापूर मॉडेल स्थानक बनवण्याची घोषणा झाली. मात्र किमान मूलभूत सुविधांची पूर्तता स्थानकात झालेली नाही. प्रशासनाच्या कामाची गाडी यार्डातून निघालेलीच नाही. प्रवाशांच्या सुरक्षेच्यादृष्टीने किमान प्राथमिक सुविधा पुरविण्याची गरज आहे.

गुड्स मार्केट यार्डातही हीच स्थिती आहे. येथून साखर , बॉक्साईट आणि मोलॅसिसची निर्यात मोठया प्रमाणावर होते. सिमेंट , धान्य , रासायनिक खते आयात केली जातात. त्यासाठी यार्डात एक ते चार असे स्वतंत्र प्लॅटफार्म आहेत. मात्र प्लॅटफार्म क्रमांक एक आणि दोन हे मृत्यूचे सापळे बनले आहेत. तीन आणि चार क्रमांकावरही बॉक्साईटची चढउतार करण्यासाठी कोणतीही सुविधा नाही. गुडस् यार्डमधील प्लॅटफार्म क्रमांक एकमध्ये माल वाहतुकीची डबा थांबतो. मात्र , रेल्वे डबा आणि प्लॅटफॉर्मची उंची समान करण्यासाठी पोत्यांचा थर रचावा लागतो.

अपघातात मुलांचाही समावेश

रेल्वेतून खाली उतरताना प्लॅटफॉर्मचा अंदाज न आल्याने गेल्या वर्षभरात २० प्रवाशांना अपघाताला सामोरे जावे लागले आहे. काही प्रवासी धावत जाऊन गाडी पकडण्याचा प्रयत्न करतात. त्यातूनही काही अपघात घडले आहे. मुलांना आणि यंग सीनियर्संना रेल्वेतून उतरताना अपघाताला सामोरे जावे लागल्याचे रेल्वे पोलिसांनी सांगितले.

प्रवाशांच्या सोयीसाठी मध्य रेल्वेच्या कार्यक्षेत्रात किमान प्लॅटफॉर्मची उंची साडेपाच फूट असावी लागते. रेल्वेचा डबा आणि प्लॅटफॉर्मची समान उंची केल्यास अपघात टळतील. स्थानकाच्या विकासासाठी खास निधीची गरज आहे. बजेटमधून भरघोस निधी मिळाल्यास कायापालट सहज शक्य आहे.

मुजफ्फरपुर-हाजीपुर-मोतिहारी-समस्तीपुर रेलखंड सहित जंकशन पर मंगलवार को एसीएम के नेतृत्व में दो दर्जन से अधिक ट्रेनों में चेकिंग की गयी, जिसमें 207  बेटिकट यात्रियों को पकड़ा गया. बताया जाता है कि सुबह से ही सोनपुर मंडल के एसीएम डीके भारती के नेतृत्व में स्कवायड टू के महेश प्रसाद सिन्हा, केपी सिंह, संगीत पांडे की टीम ने जंकशन से गुजरने वाली बिहार संपर्क क्रांति एक्सप्रेस, वैशाली एक्सप्रेस, सप्तक्रांति एक्सप्रेस, मोतिहारी जाने वाली पैसेंजर, मौर्य एक्सप्रेस, टाटा छपरा एक्सप्रेस, स्वतंत्रता सेनानी एक्सप्रेस सहित दर्जनों ट्रेनों में सघन जांच अभियान चलाया. देर शाम तक 207 यात्रियों को बेटिकट यात्र करते पकड़ा गया. पकड़े गये यात्रियों को यूटीएस काउंटर के ऊपर बने कमरे में रखा गया था. पकड़े गये यात्रियों में से 140 को जुर्माना देने पर छोड़ दिया गया. वहीं  दोपहर तीन बजे के करीब सोनपुर न्यायालय के मजिस्ट्रेट सत्येंद्र सिंह के समक्ष 67 बेटिकट यात्रियों को पेश किया गया, जिनमें से 15 यात्री को जेल भेज दिया गया. जांच के दौरान कुछ यात्री टिकट रहने के बावजूद पकड़े जाने की बात कह कर हंगामा करने लगे. रेल अधिकारियों का कहना था कि यात्री सामान्य बोगी का टिकट कटा स्लीपर व एसी बोगी में यात्र करतें पकड़े गये हैं. वहीं कई यात्रियों ने पकड़े जाने के बाद रिश्तेदार के माध्यम से टिकट खरीद लिया था.
