South Central Railway will temporarily augment the following express trains with five additional Sleeper Class Coaches during October, 2013 to clear the extra rush / waitlisted passengers as per the details mentioned below:-           

    1.Tr.No. 12730 H S Nanded - Pune Bi-Weekly Express departing o­n Tuesdays and Sundays                    i.e., o­n 1st, 6th, 8th, 13th, 15th, 20th, 22nd, 27th and 29th October, 2013.

  2.Tr.No. 12729 Pune - H S Nanded Bi- Weekly Express departing o­n Mondays and Wednesdays      i.e., o­n 2nd, 7th, 9th, 14th, 16th, 21st, 23rd, 28th and 30th October, 2013.
  3.Tr.No. 17614 H S Nanded - Pune Weekly Express departing Fridays i.e., o­n 4th, 11th, 18th and    25th October, 2013.
    4.Tr.No. 17613 Pune - H S Nanded Weekly Express departing Saturdays i.e., o­n 5th, 12th, 19th      and 26th October, 2013.
          These 130 additional Sleeper Class Coach services will make available 9360 additional Sleeper Class berths.

Kerala has announced a suburban railway project connecting Thiruvananthapuram with Chengannur, near Kottayam.A cabinet meeting gave in-principle nod for the project and decided to initiate its feasibility study. The decision was announced by chief minister Oommen Chandy.He said most parts of the railway line linking Ernakulam to Thiruvananthapuram had been made double lane. Additional lanes for the suburban service would not incur much expense when compared with Kochi metro and mono rail projects.The proposed railway line would have high speed trains, and stops in main towns. Chengannur is the nearest railway station to the Sabarimala temple.The Cabinet also gave administrative sanction to implement road renovation projects with an estimated cost of Rs 433 crore.  It also approved the market intervention schemes of civil supplies  and co-operative departments during the festive season in order to regulate prices of essential commodities.Delving into the solar scam case, Chandy said the terms of references of the judicial inquiry would be announced soon, besides he expressed his willingness to include the involvement of his office into the scam in the terms of references of the inquiry.

JAMSHEDPUR: The construction of the bridge under the railway line near the Tata Pigment Company in Jugsalai is set to see the light of the day after several delays.The project was initially scheduled to be commissioned in November 2012, but owing to unspecified delay attributed to the divisional office, the construction work is set to start in September 2013.The engineering department officials of Tatanagar railway section along with the contractor of the firm entrusted with the responsibility of building the bridge visited the site on Wednesday to study the ground realities ahead of commissioning of the work. The three-member panel led by AEN Tatanagar R P Meena did a recce of the site near the existing underbridge on the directive of the Chakradharpur divisional office of South Eastern Railway zone.The estimated expenditure of the construction work is Rs 5.7 crore and it is set to be completed in three months. An official of the Tatanagar railway section said, "If things go according to plan, the new bridge will be built by 2014."

More than 2.5 lakh residents of Jugsalai, Baghbera, Pursudih and other areas in the periphery of the Steel City have been facing a lot of trouble in going over to Bistupur, barely a few kilometers away, owing to the absence of a proper bridge.

"The underbridge will lessen the need for using level crossing and will certainly help us in preventing fatal accidents, which had risen over the years," said Jugsalai resident Manjit Singh, one of the campaigners for the early commencement of construction of the bridge.

Dhamara Ghat residents who went on the rampage after the Rajya Rani Express ran over 28 people on Monday are now repentant.Fear of legal action for the vandalism apart, their conscience, too, is giving them sleepless nights. With their tempers cooling down, they now realise they have ended up harming the one facility that supports them round the year, the railway line.Dhamara Ghat is a backward area, lacking motorable roads. The railways are the lifeline of the area with the people of Khagaria and Saharsa preferring to travel to Patna by train. Travelling to Patna by the Rajya Rani Express, for instance, takes just four hours. The Telegraph spoke to the people on Thursday and found them expressing regret. Their names are being changed to protect identity as an FIR has been lodged against 1,000 unnamed persons for vandalism, loot and damage to railway property.Dhamara village resident Raman Jha said: “The Dhamara Ghat railway station has served us for all these years. But, while vandalising the station on Monday, it did not occur to us that we are harming the facility which connects us to the other districts.”

He added: “For all these years, we had never thought of harming the railways. But unfortunately, we lost our tempers and damaged railway property. We are sorry for that.”

Vijay Mandal, the station master of Dhamara Ghat railway station, on Tuesday registered two separate cases — loss of railway property and unnatural death of 28 persons — at the Mansi Government Railway police station. The FIR accuses 1,000 unnamed people of vandalising and looting the station’s ticket counter as well as beating up loco pilot Raja Ram Paswan and his assistant S.K. Suman and setting two trains on fire.

Superintendent of railway police Jitendra Mishra confirmed it. The police said identifying the accused is going to be difficult as there is no video footage or other evidence against the mob. “We will also investigate the allegations levelled by the injured persons before taking action against the railway officials,” Mishra said.

The ones who went on the rampage though are ruing the mob mentality that took over them on Monday.

Badri Mandal, a Dhamara Ghat resident in his late 40s, said: “Our actions on Monday might make the railways stop its good work in this area. We have no roads and trains are our only means of transportation. This attack of ours, I hope, does not affect railway movement.”

They are not providing any excuse. One Vijay Mahato said: “I feel remorse for all the damage we caused. I have no excuse for destroying the railway’s property.”

The divisional railway manager of Samastipur division, Arun Malik, pegs the loss incurred by Indian Railways at Dhamara Ghat railway station at Rs 8-9 crore.

Some of those who turned violent on Monday even vowed not to lose their heads like this again. But they did ask for an upgrade of facilities at the Dhamara Ghat station by constructing a second platform and a foot over-bridge.

GUWAHATI: With the Centre yet to announce the date for talks, All Bodo Students' Union re-launched its agitation for a separate state of Bodoland with an indefinite hunger strike at Kokrajhar Higher Secondary School ground on Thursday.Addressing the members of the union, Absu president Pramod Boro said it is the time to experiment how effective our democracy is and how much space is there for democratic people. The students' body had suspended its agitation after chief minister Tarun Gogoi offered to mediate for holding dialogue with the Centre on August 7."I think fasting is the highest form of non-violent movement and as a citizen of the country where the great Mahatma Gandhi was born, we respect this way of movement. Now, we are going to experience the sincerity of people in power towards democracy", he said.He added that the students' body has launched its highest way of movement to get the legitimate and democratic rights of the Bodos. "If the government is democratic, then it will definitely listen to us and address our problems," he told Absu activists.

Hundreds of Absu activists and members of other allied Bodo organizations assembled at the school ground in the morning to take part in the fast. Boro said the students' body has started the hunger strike with only 1000 people but when it ends the number of participants will be over 1 lakh.

Absu's next programme is a 24-hour national highway blockade on August 28, which will be followed by a 24-hour rail blockade on September 10.

Chairman of Kuki State Demand Committee (KSDC) Hejen Haokip and general secretary K Gangtei were also present. In his speech, Gangtei said the KSDC supported the Bodoland stir. He added that the Kukis were also deprived due to negligence of the government.

Also lending support to the non-violent movement of Absu was NDFB (Progressive) president Dhiren Boro, who said the Bodos have their own language, culture, identity but were suppressed by successive governments.

He appealed to the central government to solve the long-pending issue of the Bodos once and for all.

इलाहाबाद (ब्यूरो)। वीआईपी ट्रेनों में शुमार राजधानी एक्सप्रेस अगले दो साल में 21 कोचों के साथ फर्राटे लगा सकती है। इससे यात्रियों को राजधानी एक्सप्रेस जैसी ट्रेनों में बर्थ के लिए तरसना नहीं पड़ेगा। रेलवे बोर्ड राजधानी एक्सप्रेस में कोचों को बढ़ाने की योजना पर अमल शुरू कर चुका है। पटना राजधानी एक्सप्रेस को 21 कोचों के साथ चलाना शुरू किया जा चुका है। सियालदह राजधानी भी जल्द ही 20 कोचों के साथ दौड़ने लगेगी। यात्रियों के लिए राहत की बात यह है कि राजधानी में नए जोड़े जा रहे कोचों में ज्यादातर एसी-3 श्रेणी के हैं। प्रतीक्षा सूची से दिखने वाली मांग और कोचों की उपलब्धता के आधार पर दूसरे राज्यों के लिए चलने वाली राजधानी में भी कोचों की संख्या बढ़ाई जाएगी। दो साल पहले तक राजधानी एक्सप्रेस में कोचों की संख्या बढ़ाना नामुमकिन था। तब, राजधानी में 14 से 16 कोच ही जुड़ते रहे हैं। बताते हैं कि आरडीएसओ ने राजधानी एक्सप्रेस में कोचों की संख्या बढ़ाने पर शोध किया। इलेक्ट्रिकल सुधार करने को कहा था। शोध संगठन की गाइड लाइन के आधार पर आगे बढ़ा रेलवे बोर्ड सालभर में अधिकतर राजधानी एक्सप्रेस में कोचों की संख्या बढ़ाकर 18 कर चुका है। अब इसे 21 कोचों तक पहुंचाने की योजना पर काम चल रहा है। रेलवे अफसर बताते हैं कि राजधानी एक्सप्रेस के लिए नए एलएचबी कोचों की उपलब्धता ने इस कार्य को आसान बना दिया है। सूत्र बताते हैं कि निकट भविष्य में राजधानी एक्सप्रेस से जेनरेटर कोच हट सकते हैं। आरडीएसओ ने इसके भी तरीके बताए हैं। इनकी जगह यात्री कोच ले लेंगे। इससे सभी राजधानी में दो-दो अतिरिक्त कोच जोड़ने में मदद मिलेगी। रेलवे बोर्ड के एडीजी जनसंपर्क अनिल सक्सेना बताते हैं कि पटना राजधानी में 21 कोच और दिल्ली-मुंबई राजधानी 20 कोचों के साथ चलाई जा रही है। दिल्ली-सियालदह राजधानी भी जल्द ही 20 कोचों के साथ चलने लगेगी। कोचों की उपलब्धता होने पर दूसरी राजधानी एक्सप्रेस की भी लंबाई बढ़ाई जाएगी। अतिरिक्त कोच स्थाई तौर पर जोड़े जा रहे हैं। फिलहाल, राजधानी में कोचों की संख्या बढ़ाने का फायदा यात्रियों के साथ-साथ रेलवे को भी मिलने लगा है। बिना नई ट्रेन दौड़ाए अतिरिक्त कोचों से रेलवे को प्रति ट्रिप एक से तीन लाख रुपये की ज्यादा कमाई हो रही है।

मधेपुरा-मुरलीगंज रेल परिचालन, राज्यरानी सुपर एक्सप्रेस, जानकी एक्सप्रेस एवं हाटेबाजारे एक्सप्रेस को मधेपुरा तक चलाने की मांग को लेकर भारतीय कम्युनिस्ट पार्टी 24 अगस्त को मधेपुरा रेलवे स्टेशन और पटरी पर धरना प्रदर्शन करेगी। यह जानकारी देते हुए जिला मंत्री प्रमोद प्रभाकर ने बताया कि विगत दिन मुरलीगंज रेलवे स्टेशन पर संघर्ष समिति के बैनर तले सर्वदलीय धरना में रेल मंडल समस्तीपुर के अधिकारियों ने डीएम के समक्ष आश्वस्त किया था कि 15 अगस्त तक मुरलीगंज-मधेपुरा रेलपथ पर ट्रेन चलेगी। लेकिन फिर यह आश्वासन पूरा नहीं हुआ। लिहाजा हम विवश होकर सुबह दस बजे से रेल पटरी पर धरना प्रदर्शन कर अपनी मांगों को रखेंगे।
