GUWAHATI: After the Centre gave the state government the go-ahead to conduct pre-feasibility study and prepare a detailed project report (DPR) for metro rail project in Guwahati, Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) is awaiting the state government’s green signal to expedite the process.

A senior official of Guwahati Development Department (GDD) said, “The urban development ministry has asked the GMDA to prepare the DPR for the metro rail project in Guwahati. After receiving the state government’s nod, the GMDA will float tenders inviting firms to conduct the study and prepare the DPR,” the official said.

Recently, chief minister Tarun Gogoi in his budget speech has earmarked Rs 1,800 crore for the metro rail project in Guwahati. The pre-feasibility study for the project is vital as the city’s wetlands and hills make the job of GMDA officials difficult to decide what would be the metro’s route.

The Centre has accepted the state government’s Rs 14,000-crore proposal for a metro rail project in Guwahati and has sanctioned Rs 25 crore for carrying out the feasibility study.

Guwahati metropolitan region spreads over an area of 2,205sqkm with a population of more than 2.4 million people and a floating population of about three lakh, said a concept paper prepared by the GMDA on metro rail project. Slow vehicular movement on congested city roads has made it an imperative to construct the metro rail, a GMDA official said. “The average speed on Guwahati roads is less than 20kmph during peak hours, with an average speed of 15kmph in the Central Business District area,” the concept paper said.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is preparing a detailed project report for the IFFCO Chowk-Dwarka border Metro extension project.

The DMRC’s intervention is supposed to break the logjam over this ambitious project — it is expected to address the commutation issues of thousands of residents of Gurgaon and its adjoining areas — which has been caught in red tape for quite some time now.

It is learnt that while the Haryana government is entrusted with constructing this project, the Delhi government will build the remaining portion to link the line with Dwarka Sector 21 Metro station.

Despite several meetings between officials of both the governments and the DMRC in the past two years, a consensus could not be reached on how the Metro line from Dwarka Sector 21 was to be extended to Gurgaon.

Referring to its latest meeting, a senior DMRC official told, “Both the governments will pay money to each other for the trains entering their respective domains.”

But the official said that this was not the final detailed project report (DPR).

“This is only an option the DMRC is preparing for both the governments. The two governments would examine the pros and cons of the DPR,” said the official, adding that the DMRC will submit the DPR within a month.

The DMRC, in the first DPR it submitted to the Haryana government in February 2012, had made a build-operate-transfer (BOT) provision to invite Reliance Infrastructure to construct the 12-km Metro extension line between Dwarka Sector 21 and Iffco Chowk in Gurgaon.

“But the Airport Expressway Line that was being operated by Reliance got scrapped and the DMRC had to look for a fresh DPR,” said the official.

In a step to make travel a pleasant experience for the disabled and the elderly, lifts and an escalator will start operating at the city railway station in the first week of September.The station premises were humming with activity on Sunday with technicians fixing an escalator. Three lifts are already in place on platforms one to three. Safety trials are over and certificates have been obtained.Senior railway officials say the lifts and the escalator cost about Rs. 3.5 crore, and it is another step towards Railways’ ambition to transform the station into a world-class one.“The Kozhikode railway station falls in the A1 category as annual income from passenger footfalls is over Rs. 60 crore. As per the Railway Board guidelines, A1-category stations have to offer passenger amenities for the disabled and the elderly, such as ramps and escalators, necessarily to elevate it to a world-class station,” Mohan Menon, Additional Divisional Railway Manager, told The Hindu on Sunday.He said Railways had decided to extend such passenger amenities to A-category stations and had identified 300 such stations across the country.“We have to take into consideration an ageing population which is continuing to travel. There is a demand on Railways to make travel experience easier and comfortable,” Mr. Menon said.Railway officials said more surveillance cameras and car scanners were required to check vehicles. “This security measure will be implemented shortly,” he said.

Asked about the state of baggage scanners on the railway station premises as part of the integrated security system, Mr. Menon said though multiple entrances and exits made security checking a challenge, the scanners were used whenever there was an alert or in case of any “doubt.”

During a visit here earlier in the month, Rakesh Mishra, General Manager of Southern Railway, had promised that development works at the station would be completed soon.

Several demands have been made to improve the station infrastructure, including canopies for the platforms, footbridges connecting the platforms, a south-side entry to the station and an international shopping complex on its premises.

The important suggestions raised by the public and trader groups include improvement of the stations at West Hill, Vellayil and Kallai in the city, completion of the doubling of the Shoranur-Mangalore line, installing an automatic signalling system, electrification of the line, and reducing the running time of trains between the two stations. The demand for the Kozhikode-Mysore line has been revived.

Other suggestions were adding more compartments to trains, starting work on the coach factory in Kanjikode, new trains to Bokaro and New Delhi, via Vijayawada and Nagpur, another to Chennai, and a Jan Shatabdi Express between Kozhikode and Tiruchirapalli.

Railways will run special trains between Chennai Central and Mangalore Junction from September 14 to clear the rush of passengers during Onam.A press release issued by Palakkad Railway Division said reservation for these trains started on Sunday.Train No.06003 Chennai Central – Mangalore Junction Special will leave Chennai at 9 p.m. on September 14 and September 21 and arrive at Mangalore at 12.45 p.m. the following day.Train No.06004 Mangalore Junction – Chennai Central will leave Mangalore at 2.45 p.m. on September 15 and 22 and reach Chennai at 7.45 a.m.

यह बातें पूर्वोत्तर रेलवे लखनऊ मंडल के प्रबंधक अनूप कुमार ने कहीं। वह शनिवार को अपराह्न 1.05 बजे सवारी गाड़ी सेनौगढ़ रेलवे स्टेशन पहुंचे। 15 मिनट के निरीक्षण के समय प्लेट फार्म न. एक का निरीक्षण किया। बुकिंग खिड़की पर लगी भीड़ व प्रतिक्षालय का अवलोकन कर कमियों को दुरुस्त कराने की बात कही। कुछ आवश्यक कमी को दूर करने का निर्देश दिया। वहां से लौटने के बाद वह प्लेट फार्म के सटे स्टेशन के अगले हिस्से में सीलन देखकर अंदाजा लगा लिए की छत टपकता है। उन्होंने कहा कि बारिश के दौरान अब छत टपकने के शिकायत मिली तो बख्शा नहीं जायेगा। आदर्श स्टेशन होने के बावजूद इस तरह की समस्या गंभीर है। अहिरौली हाल्ट रेलवे स्टेशन पर शौचालय की कमी एवं हैंडपंप न होने के मुद्दे पर डीआरएम ने समस्या हल का आश्वासन दिया। स्टेशन अधीक्षक कार्यालय के पास पहुंचने के बाद बाहर से ही वहां का जायजा 1 मिनट में लेकर पुन: 15 मिनट बाद स्पेशल बोगी में सवार हो गये। मीडिया से रूबरू होने के पश्चात डीआरएम अनूप ने कहा कि रेल रूट का निरीक्षण करके यात्री सुविधाओं को हर सुविधा के बेहतरी के लिए कमियों को दूर कराने का प्रयास करुंगा। ताकि लखनऊ मंडल आदर्श बन सकें। निरीक्षण के दौरान राधेश्याम, एसके सिंह, जीके सिंह, बीएस यादव, केएन त्रिपाठी, महेश गुप्ता आदि रेल अधिकारी समेत स्टेशन अधीक्षक टीएन प्रसाद मौजूद रहे। इससे पूर्व उसका रेलवे स्टेशन पर नगर पंचायत अध्यक्ष हेमंत जायसवाल ने प्लेटफार्म न. एक पर ऊंचाई के हिसाब से सीढ़ी नहीं बनी है। जिससे यात्रियों को परेशानी उठानी पड़ती है। शौचालय को चालू कराने, रात्रि के समय अंधेरा होने से यात्री ट्रेन से गिर जाते है। ऐसे में सोलर लाइट लगाने, उसका मार्डन स्टेशन बनाने तथा सभी ट्रेनों को बढ़नी से गोरखपुर तक चलाने की मांग संबंधित 11 सत्रीय ज्ञापन डीआरएम अनूप को सौंपा।

सीतापुर। लखनऊ-दिल्ली राष्ट्रीय राजमार्ग-24 पर उत्तर रेलवेे मुरादाबाद मंडल की हेमपुर क्रॉसिंग गेट नंबर-45 ए की मरम्मत का कार्य रविवार से शुरू हो गया। पहले दिन रविवार को कॉशन के जरिए इस ट्रैक से जाने वाली सभी रेलगाड़ियां दस की स्पीड से गुजारी गईं, जबकि क्रॉसिंग से होकर जाने वाले वाहनों को डायवर्जन के जरिए अलग-अलग रूटों से निकाला गया। डायवर्जन के कारण वाहनों को लंबी दूरी तय करनी पड़ी। हालांकि कहीं भी जाम की नौबत नहीं आई। सोमवार को भी इस क्रॉसिंग पर मरम्मत का कार्य होगा।
उत्तर रेलवे मुरादाबाद मंडल की हेमपुर रेलवे क्रॉसिंग गेट नंबर-45 ए की ओवर हॉलिंग व ट्रैक के स्लीपर बदलने के लिए 25 व 26 अगस्त की तारीख तय की थी। इसके चलते लखनऊ-दिल्ली राष्ट्रीय राजमार्ग-24 पर पड़ने वाली हेमपुर रेलवे क्रॉसिंग से वाहनों की आवाजाही रविवार को बंद कर दी गई। सुबह दस के बाद इस क्रॉसिंग से वाहनों की आवाजाही पर पूरी तरह बंद कर दी गई। इसके बाद जेसीबी व क्रेन के साथ रेलवे अफसरों की पहुंची और मरम्मत कार्य शुरू करा दिया गया। इस दौरान हेमपुर क्रॉसिंग से गुजरने वाली ट्रेनों को पहले दिन कॉशन देकर दस की स्पीड में निकाला गया। दोपहर तक की सभी ट्रेनों को कॉसन के जरिए पास करने के बाद मरम्मत कार्य तेज हुआ। मरम्मत कार्य में लगे मजदूरों ने पटरियों को काटा। बाद में उन्हें जेसीबी और क्रेन की मदद से निकालने के बाद वहां पर नई पटरियां बिछाईं गईं। इस काम में ढाई घंटे का समय लग गया। आननफानन टीम ने पहले ट्रैक पर लेवलिंग की। बाद में वहां पर नई पटरियां बिछाईं।
इस क्रॉसिंग से होकर गुजरने वाले आम मुसाफिरों व माल वाहक वाहनों को दूसरे मार्गों से निकाला गया। जाम से बचाने के लिए डायवर्जन वाले तय रूटों पर पुलिस बल भी तैनात किया गया था।
लखनऊ से दिल्ली जाने वाले यात्री वाहन सिधौली-मिश्रिख-पिसावां-नेरी होते राष्ट्रीय राजमार्ग-24 पर निकाले गए। इसी तरह महोली-बड़ागांव-हरगांव-सीतापुर नैपालापुर वाया लखीमपुर बाई पास होते हुए वाहन हाईवे पर निकले। माल वाहक वाहनों को लखीमपुर बाईपास नैपालापुर-हरगांव-लखीमपुर-मोहम्मदी व शाहजहांपुर को निकाले गए। इस डायवर्जन से यात्री व माल वाहक वाहनों को लंबी दूरी का सफर तय करना पड़ा।http://epaper.amarujala.com//pdf/2013/08/26/20130826a_01716900503.jpg

28 बेकसूरों द्वारा जान गंवाने के बाद रेल मंत्रालय धमारा स्टेशन पर मेहरबान हुआ है। रेल मंत्रालय ने स्टेशन पर फुटओवर ब्रिज, प्लेटफॉर्म अन्य निर्माण कार्यो की स्वीकृति दी है। इस पर 2.41 करोड़ रुपये खर्च होंगे।
गौरतलब है कि इसी स्टेशन पर विगत 19 अगस्त को सावन के अंतिम सोमवार को काफी संख्या में श्रद्धालु राज्यरानी एक्सप्रेस की चपेट में आ गए थे। दुर्घटना में मारे गए अधिकांश लोग प्रसिद्ध मां कात्यायनी मंदिर में पूजा करने गए थे। घटना से आक्रोशित लोगों ने राज्यरानी समेत दो ट्रेनों में आग लगा दी थी। स्टेशन पर भी भारी तोड़फोड़ की थी। इसमें रेलवे को करोड़ों रुपयों का नुकसान हुआ था। यहां फुटओवर ब्रिज समेत विभिन्न मांगों को लेकर पिछले कई दिनों से युवा शक्ति के प्रदेश अध्यक्ष नागेंद्र सिंह त्यागी के नेतृत्व में दर्जनों लोग अनशन पर बैठे हैं।
एसपी शिवकुमार झा ने बताया, रेल मंत्रालय व समस्तीपुर के अपर मंडल रेल प्रबंधक एसएन पतियाल ने रविवार को उन्हें पत्र भेजा है। इसमें 2.41 करोड़ की लागत से स्टेशन पर निर्माण कार्योँ को मंजूरी दी गई है।
रेलवे सूत्रों के अनुसार समस्तीपुर-सहरसा रेल खंड के धमारा स्टेशन पर प्लेटफॉर्म नंबर एक को 231 मीटर बढ़ाने, प्लेटफॉर्म नंबर तीन पर 415 मीटर लंबे नए प्लेटफॉर्म का निर्माण, प्लेटफॉर्म नंबर एक से तीन को जोड़ते हुए फुटओवर ब्रिज का निर्माण, लाइन नंबर एक व दो और दो व तीन पर टाई बार फेंसिंग, प्लेटफॉर्म पर समुचित प्रचार-प्रसार की व्यवस्था, 10 छोटे शेल्टर व बिजली की सुविधा हेतु सोलर सिस्टम लगाने की स्वीकृति दी गई है।
समस्तीपुर मंडल रेलवे के अधिकारी के अनुसार दुर्घटना में मारे गये 28 लोगों में से 25 के उत्तराधिकारियों को 15-15 हजार रुपये उसी दिन दिए गए थे। शेष 4.85 लाख रुपये उनके खातों में जमा किए जाएंगे। पांच लोगों के बैंक खातों में शेष राशि भेज दी गई है। बाकि मृतकों के परिजनों के भी खाता नंबर मिलने के तुरंत बाद शेष राशि भेज दी जाएगी। दुर्घटना में गंभीर रूप से जख्मी दो लोगों को पांच-पांच हजार रुपये नकद व 95 हजार रुपये उनके खाते में भेज दिए गए हैं।

Thiruvananthapuram: The state government has issued an order to hand over 78 acres of land to railway for Cherthala wagon factory, including 58.288 acres near Ilanji in Cherthala taluk and another land as sought by railway. Alappuzha district collector will have charge of future proceedings. The land will be handed over only after getting a written promise from the railway that they will start the factory.

An imposter posing as a railway ticket collector was nabbed red-handed by the Railway Police near Wadi Railway Station on the Mumbai-Hyderabad Express on Sunday. The Railway police identified him as Azaruddin (24). He was handed over to the Wadi Railway Police Station. A case was registered.
