Western Railway is going to introduce first of its kind 12931/12932 Double Decker Super Fast Express between Mumbai Central & Ahmedabad. The inaugural service will be run o­n 19thSeptember, 2012 as Train No. 02932 at 16.30 hrs from Ahmedabad. It will reach Mumbai Central at 00.30 hrs.

From 20th September, 2012, Train No. 12931Mumbai Central-Ahmedabad Double Decker Super Fast Express will depart from Mumbai Central at 14.20 hrs from Monday to Saturday and reach Ahmedabad at 21.40 hrs. In its return journey, Train No. 12932 Ahmedabad-Mumbai Central Double Decker Super Fast Express will depart from Ahmedabad at 06.00 hrs from Monday to Saturday and reach Mumbai Central at 13.00 hrs.

This train consists of AC Chair class. The carrying capacity of a coach of Double Decker Super Fast Express will be 120seats while the capacity of a coach of Shatabdi Express is78 i.e. 54% more. It is planned to provide a mini Pantry Car Service in the train which will provide snacks etc. to the passengers’ o­n payment. It is also planned to make available LCD screens in the train to provide entertainment to the passengers o­n advertisement basis with no cost to the railways.

It will halt at Borivali, Vapi, Surat, Bharuch, Vadodara, Anand & Nadiad in both the directions.

The fare of the Double Decker Super Fast Express from Mumbai Central will be Rs 318/- for Surat, Rs 406/- for Vadodara and Rs 471/- for Ahmedabad. The train will cover the distance of 492 kms between Mumbai Central & Ahmedabad in about 7 hours while Karnavati Express takes about 7.40 hrs.

This train will help in easing out the passenger traffic between two important commercial & industrial cities of India. At present, Western Railway already runs 27pairs oftrainsbetween Mumbai and Ahmedabad. In addition to it, 28 weekly trains also run through Central Railway to Ahmedabad via Vasai Road station.

The booking of Inaugural Train No. 02932 and regular train Nos. 12931/12932 will open from18th September, 2012.

गोरखपुर : दिल्ली जाने वाले लोगों के लिए राहत भरी खबर है। रेल प्रशासन ने गोरखपुर- आनंदविहार के बीच 15 से 30 सितंबर के बीच एक जोड़ी त्रैसाप्ताहिक स्पेशल ट्रेन चलाने का निर्णय लिया है। मुख्य जनसंपर्क अधिकारी अमित सिंह के अनुसार 05037 गोरखपुर- आनंद विहार स्पेशल ट्रेन गोरखपुर से प्रत्येक मंगलवार, गुरुवार और शनिवार को कुल 7 ट्रिप में चलाई जाएगी। यह गाड़ी गोरखपुर से रात 11. 20 बजे प्रस्थान कर खलीलाबाद से 11. 57 बजे से, बस्ती से 12. 25 बजे से, गोंडा से 1.45 बजे से चलकर लखनऊ, मुरादाबाद होते हुए दूसरे दिन अपराह्न 12. 05 बजे आनंदविहार पहुंचेगी। वापसी यात्रा में 05038 आनंदविहार- गोरखपुर स्पेशल टेन आनंद विहार से प्रत्येक बुधवार, शुक्रवार और रविवार को कुल 7 ट्रिप में चलाई जाएगी। यह गाड़ी आनंदविहार से दिन के 2. 10 बजे चलकर मुरादाबाद, लखनऊ से रात 11. 25 बजे से, बाराबंकी से 12. 45 बजे से, गोंडा से 2. 50 बजे से, बस्ती से सुबह 4. 04 बजे से, खलीलाबाद से 4. 32 बजे से छूटकर 5. 35 बजे गोरखपुर पहुंचेगी। साधारण श्रेणी के 6, शयनयान के 9, एसी थ्री टियर के 1 और 2 एसएलआर सहित कुल 18 कोच लगाए जाएंगे।

Railways given two weeks to respond to the court’s suggestions The Karnataka High Court has expressed displeasure about the Indian Railways not providing an overnight train service between Bangalore and Karwar. The court said on Monday that there were two ways by which the demand of the people for overnight train could be met.“As of now, two possibilities are there: One is to convert the existing Bangalore-Karwar day train into a night train. Two, is to branch out the existing Bangalore-Mangalore night train — one to Kannur in Kerala and another to Karwar from Mangalore,” a Division Bench comprising Chief Justice Vikramajit Sen and Justice B.V. Nagarathna said. The suggestion was made while disagreeing with the technical reasons given by the Railways for providing night train service to Karwar via Mangalore.The court gave three weeks time to the Railways to respond to the suggestions of the court while adjourning the hearing on a public interest litigation (PIL) petition. The plea was filed by advocates Shankar Bhat and others seeking night train service from Bangalore to Karwar via Mangalore and Udupi.During the hearing, the counsel for the Railways submitted that the route between Bangalore and Karwar comprises Ghat section in Sakleshpur and it cannot take the load of two trains at night. The counsel also said that branching out a train would leave a locomotive idle at Mangalore railway station while pointing out that there are enough trains from Mangalore to Karwar already. However, the Bench asked him whether providing good service to people was important or thinking about a locomotive that might remain idle. “All you have to do is to convert the existing day train between Bangalore and Karwar into night train. Or split the existing night train at Mangalore – one to Kannur and another to Karwar. Who will prefer to travel a whole day in train?” observed Chief Justice Sen.

‘Ignored State’
Justice Nagarathna said that Karnataka got a raw deal from the Railways in comparison to other States in south India. “Even though we have a Railway Minister, the neglect continues. Railways have given trains to those States that have demanded it. Just for the sake of one engine you can’t deny the service.”The Karnataka government, which has a share in the Konkan railways, has already supported the plea of the petitioners while pointing out that the existing tri-weekly Bangalore-Karwar day train is not convenient to passengers. The government has also pointed out to the court about 1,000 private luxury buses plying in this route at night indicates the need for the night train on this route.

Meanwhile, the Bench ordered issue of notice to the State government on a PIL petition filed by Vinutha, resident of Bangalore, seeking implementation of the Sarojini Mahishi Committee report.When the petitioner’s counsel told the court that as per the report all “D” Group posts have to be reserved for locals, the Bench orally told the counsel that it is not proper to dismember the nation as it is happening in Mumbai. “You can’t dismember the country like this We don’t want that.”The report, submitted in 1986, had made 58 recommendations but till today none have been implemented by the government, the petitioner complained adding that only 10 per cent Kannadigas are working in IT firms. She also sought an inquiry on employment provided in every sector.

KOLATA: All eyes are on the Trinamool Congress parliamentary committee meeting at Town Hall in Kolkata on Tuesday where party chief Mamata Banerjee will take the "hard decision" she had announced in case the Congress-led UPA government refuses to yield to her rollback demand of the reform measures - hike in diesel prices, cap on subsidized LPG cylinders and FDI entry in multi-brand retail.

Railway minister Mukul Roy has already reached Town Hall with Trinamool MPs Tapas Pal and Satabdi Roy while others are on their way to the meeting. Chief minister Mamata Banerjee is staying put at the Writers' Buildings, while Trinamool leaders keep waiting for the last minute calibration of reform measures following Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's meeting with Congress president Sonia Gandhi in Dehi. However, according to Trinamool insiders, no communication from Delhi has reached Kolkata from Sonia Gandhi's political secretary Ahmed Patel as yet, raising eyebrows in the Trinamool camp.

Pressure is building on the Trinamool chief over her future course that includes pulling out of the UPA ministry, if not a pullout from the UPA. The Trinamool camp badly needs an escape route in the form of a partial rollback on the LPG front at least to break the political stalemate. Else, the Trinamool chief will have no option but to take the ultimate step.

Mamata Banerjee has her compulsions in West Bengal politics as well. Leader of the Opposition in the assembly Surjya Kanta Mishra said on Tuesday that he feared that the Trinamool sound and fury over the reform route will end in a whimper with Mamata Banerjee succumbing to the Congress pressure as she did during the presidential polls.

Caught in a bind the Trinamool chief has invited senior state ministers to the party's parliamentary committee meeting at Town Hall. Taking the cue, finance minister Amit Mitra has declined Chidambarm's offer to come to Delhi on Tuesday and discuss about the financial package for Bengal that was due in September.
