वाराणसी। ट्रेनों में यात्रियों को दिए जाने वाले खाने की गुणवत्ता सुधारी जाएगी। पैकिंग भी मानक के अनुरूप कराई जाएगी। इसके साथ ही गंदी चादर और तकिया मिलने की शिकायतें भी दूर की जाएंगी। ट्रेनों में इसकी जांच के लिए विभिन्न अधिकारियों को लगाया गया है। इनकी रिपोर्ट मिलते ही इस समस्या का समाधान कर दिया जाएगा।
यह जानकारी सीनियर डीसीएम एके श्रीवास्तव ने पत्रकारों से बातचीत में दी। कैंट स्टेशन, वाशिंग लाइन और सिगरा स्थित बेस किचन के निरीक्षण करने के बाद उन्होंने बताया कि कई स्थानों से ट्रेनों में खाना ठीक न मिलने की शिकायतें आ रही हैं। यहां तक कि आईएसओ प्रमाण पत्र प्राप्त काशी विश्वनाथ एक्सप्रेस ट्रेन के यात्रियों ने भी ऐसी शिकायत की है। एक सवाल के जवाब में उन्होंने बताया कि कैंट रेलवे स्टेशन पर प्लाज्मा टीवी के जरिये आरक्षण की जानकारी मिलने लगेगी। लखनऊ में पायलट प्रोजेक्ट के रूप में यह सिस्टम चालू कर दिया गया है। इसके साथ ही कैंट स्टेशन के प्लेटफार्म पर यात्रियों की सुविधा के लिए क्वाइन मशीन भी लगाई जाएगी।
वाशिंग लाइन और गुलर यार्ड में बार-बार हो रही दुर्घटनाओं से जुड़े एक सवाल के जवाब में उन्होंने कहा कि इस मामले को लेकर रेलवे गंभीर है। खामियों पर रिपोर्ट तैयार कराई जा रही है। इस समस्या को जल्द दूर कर दिया जाएगा। उन्होंने बताया कि कैंट स्टेशन पर महाकुंभ के दौरान यात्रियों के लिए सुविधाएं और बढ़ाई जाएंगी। प्लेटफार्मों पर माड्यूलर स्टाल लगाए जाएंगे। आधुनिक ट्रालियां और स्टाल लगाने का कार्य अविलंब शुरू कराने और स्टेशन परिसर में सफाई व्यवस्था दुरुस्त करने को कहा गया है। इसके पूर्व निरीक्षण के दौरान के मुख्य क्षेत्रीय प्रबंधक आमोद कुमार गुप्ता, स्टेशन प्रबंधक एके पांडेय आदि भी साथ रहे।

Crack not due to underground work, but routine inspections a must, say experts. Structural engineers have a word of caution for Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) and LIC in the report on the cause of the crack observed on the 11 floor of the iconic building on Anna Salai.While LIC has been asked to hold inspections periodically, CMRL has been asked to conduct tests to ensure safety.Ruling out metro rail work as the cause of the crack, the report recommends that repair works be initiated immediately, and that LIC carry out inspection once in five years to ensure the structure is effectively maintained.Experts in structural engineering have also recommended that CMRL, on its part, take up relevant tests to ensure the desired strength and durability of the reinforced underground concrete diaphragm wall. This is because they suspect the operation of the vibro hammer resulted in damage to the reinforced concrete diaphragm wall.Since the LIC building is asymmetrical, the exterior wall needed to be inspected to check the pattern of cracks, and the depth of the cracks had to be ascertained. Following that, suitable repair methodology can be proposed to seal the cracks, the report said.On July 11, a crack was observed on the 11 floor of the LIC building. Then, engineers at LIC attributed it to the ongoing metro rail construction work at the underground station site near the buildings.

After LIC wrote to CMRL raising concerns about the construction work and potential risk to their building, professors R. Sundaravadivelu and Ravindra Gettu from IIT-Madras inspected the crack in the presence of engineers of LIC, CMRL and the contractor, Gammon.

Following inspection, the committee submitted a three-page report to CMRL on August 10. According to the report, the LIC building is safe.

“Most of the presently-visible cracks existed in the building prior to the operation of vibro hammers in June and July 2012, as they have been patched up and painted on. However, no records of previous repair work are available to ascertain the exact intervention that was made in the past,” the report said.

“The subsequent opening of these cracks over part of their length appears to be structural actions which could include the vibrations experienced by the shear walls during the operation of vibro hammers,” the report said, adding: “The cracks pose no immediate danger to the building.”

According to officials of CMRL, vibro hammers are indispensible in underground metro rail construction work of this nature.

However, they emphasise that necessary precautions are in place to ensure that no building in close proximity to any of the construction sites is in danger.

जयपुर.जयपुर-दिल्ली डबल डेकर एसी ट्रेन का 16 अगस्त को दिल्ली में तय उद्घाटन कार्यक्रम स्थगित हो गया है। रेलवे ने मंगलवार को उद्घाटन कार्यक्रम की घोषणा की थी।केंद्रीय मंत्री विलासराव देशमुख के निधन के कारण कार्यक्रम स्थगित हुआ तय कार्यक्रम के मुताबिक यह ट्रेन सराय रोहिल्ला से शाम 5:35 बजे चलकर रात 10:05 बजे जयपुर आनी थी। उद्घाटन कार्यक्रम की घोषणा अब नए सिरे से होगा।

BANGALORE: People from the northeast are leaving Bangalore in hordes following wild rumours that they would be targeted even as Karnataka's top cop has sought to allay their fears by promising them full protection.

Hundreds of people from the region are headed home if one goes by the number of tickets sold by the railways.Railway authorities confirm they have sold nearly 5,000 tickets to people bound for Guwahati and beyond.

We are overbooked.We have arranged a 20-compartment special train to Guwahati, N Ramesh,senior deputy commercial manager (railways ),Bangalore division,said.Given the rush for tick ets,we may have to arrange more trains, Ramesh said.

IGP Lalrokhuma Pachau attributed the apprehensions to rumours and said no incident of intimidation of northeastern people has come to the notice of police.

Commissioner BG Jyothi Prakash Mirji said the cops are ready to go to the door steps of northeastern stu dents if there is any instance of them being threatened.

The panic reaction comes in the wake of rumours being spread through SMSs,chain mails and social networking sites that people from the northeast would be attacked in Bangalore.Intelligence sou rces said at least 4,000 people flocked to the Bangalore City railway station on Wednes day evening to board the two trains to Guwahati.

To clear extra rush of rail passengers, Northern Railway has decided to run seven trips of tri-weekly express special train no. 04053/04054 between Jammu Tawi-Anand Vihar Terminal as per the following programme:-

The 04053 Anand Vihar Terminal- Jammu Tawi tri-weekly express special train will depart from Anand Vihar Terminal with immediate effect to 30.08.2012 (07 trips) on every Tuesday, Thursday & Saturday at 11.15 p.m. to reach Jammu Tawi at 11.50 a.m. the next day. In the return direction, the 04054 Jammu Tawi- Anand Vihar Terminal tri-weekly express special train will depart from Jammu Tawi from 17.08.2012 to 31.08.2012 (07 trips) on every Wednesday, Friday & Sunday at 05.20 p.m. to reach Anand Vihar Terminal at 05.55 a.m. the next day.

Comprising of Seven Sleeper class, Three General class and Two second class cum luggage van coaches, the 04053/04054 Anand Vihar Terminal- Jammu Tawi- Anand Vihar Terminal tri-weekly express special train will stop at Ghaziabad, Meerut City, Saharanpur, Ambala Cantt., Ludhiana, Jalandhar Cantt. & Chakki Bank stations enroute.
