Bangalore: As the northeast people from Bangalore are fleeing to their home states, Assam ministers rushed to Bangalore today to discuss the exodus with Karnataka government following rumours that they would be attacked.Assam Agriculture Minister Nilamoni Sen Deka and Transport Minister Chandan Brahma, who arrived at Bangalore Railway station, said they have come to meet the state authorities in Karnataka to review the situation. |

The South Central Railway is augmenting the following express trains passing through Guntur division with additional AC class coaches till the end of this month to meet the demand from AC class passengers.An AC chair car is being added to 12747/12748 Guntur-Vikarabad-Guntur Palnadu Express and 12705/12706 Guntur-Secunderabad-Guntur Intercity Express, an AC III-tier and second class sleeper coach to 17016/17015 Bhubaneswar-Secunderabad-Bhubaneswar Visakha Express and an AC II tier coach to 17255/17256 Narsapur-Hyderabad-Narsapur Express. Accordingly, 73 additional seats each in AC Chair car class by Palnadu and Intercity Express trains, 64 berths in III AC class and 72 berths in II Sleeper class by Visakha Express and 46 berths in II AC Class by Narsapur Express trains are being made available for passengers on both directions, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager M. Syama Sundar Rao stated in a press release. |

The special exhibition 'Red Ribbon' Train - (phase III) which comprises of seven coaches, to sensitize people about the dreaded disease HIV/AIDS and its preventive measures, has arrived for a two-day halt at Dimapur railway station this morning.Nagaland Governor Nikhil Kumar, who was the Chief Guest for the inaugural programme said the Red Ribbon Express, complimented the Government of India for conceiving the project and said it has proved to be very popular and drawn good response from the public.He said India was fairly high in infection, but in the past ten years the AIDS prevalence rate has declined in the the country due to the determined efforts government and the non-governmental organization's (NGO's) and the other stakeholders.Mr Kumar, while speaking on Nagaland state AIDS scenario, said the state prevalence rate has a negative growth rate.The Governor complimented the state government and the Department of Health and Family Welfare for playing pro-active role in bringing down the AIDS prevalence rate from 1.20 per cent to 0.87 per cent.It is however, not enough, the good work must be carried to the remotest part of our state, and he look forward to the day, when, eradication is achieved, he added. |
