Gorakhpur:  A.K.Atal, General Manager North Eastern Railway (NER) said that due to re-modeling of the station yard of Gorakhpur Junction, several rails have been either cancelled, short-terminated or diverted from today.

Atal said, till now Kharagpur was the longest platform with its length of 1,074 meters.

Gorakhpur will be of 1,300 meters. He added that the signalling system of the station is being modernized leading to rescheduling of several trains till October 6.

A NER press release said, 15105 and 15106 Chhapra-Gorakhpur Intercity, 15019 Gorakhpur-Nautanwa Intercity and 15020 Nautanwa-Gorakhpur Intercity will remain cancelled. Several long distance trains have been rescheduled to terminate or start from Lucknow, the release added.

The doubling of railway lines between Lucknow and Chhapra will be finished by March next year while an alternate rail way between Gorakhpur and Gonda will be available by year end after completion of gauge conversion between Barhni-Gonda and Gonda-Behraich, Atal said.

बरेली : रेल अफसरों की मनमानी यात्रियों पर काफी भारी पड़ रही है। गुरुवार को जंक्शन से दिल्ली जाने वाली 14315 इंटरसिटी एक्सप्रेस में डी-09 चेयरकार कोच अचानक हटा दिया। इसमें 104 यात्रियों का रिजर्वेशन था। कोच में सफर करने वाले यात्रियों ने कोच को काफी तलाश किया। लेकिन कोच नहीं मिला। इससे खफा यात्रियों ने प्लेटफार्म पर ही हंगामा किया। ट्रेन के टीटीई ने यात्रियों को समझाने का प्रयास किया। मगर, रिजर्वेशन के बाद भी बर्थ न मिलने से खफा यात्री शांत नहीं हुए। टीटीई ने स्टेशन मास्टर को कोच न होने की जानकारी दी। जिसके चलते स्टेशन मास्टर ने निर्धारित समय सुबह 04:50 बजे ट्रेन को रवाना कर दिया। इससे मजबूरी में यात्री जनरल समेत अन्य कोच में सवार हो गए। इसके अलावा रामपुर, मुरादाबाद, अमरोहा स्टेशनों पर भी यात्रियों ने हंगामा किया। स्टेशन अधीक्षक एजे सिद्दीकी की ने बताया कि कोच में खराबी के चलते कम किया गया था।

Plans to set up the Rs. 960 crore forged wheel factory of the Indian Railways at UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi’s constituency in Rae Bareli are taking shape, with factory construction work scheduled to begin shortly.“Blueprints of the factory plan have been finalised. The foundation laying function and “bhoomi pujan’ (traditional prayers) is expected this month. Dates are being finalised,” Chairman Railway Board Arunendra Kumar told HT.Proposed as a joint venture project between the Railways and the Steel PSU Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL), this is the public transporter’s second gift to Rae Bareli.The new facility, planned over a 27 acre plot adjacent to the existing rail coach factory at Lalgunj, is targeted to be commissioned in 2017-18.Last December,  a Memor-andum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Railways and the RINL. “The Railways will annually buy 50,000 wheels in the first year of production and the orders will go up to 1 lakh in coming years”, Kumar said.According to the terms of agreement, RINL will invest the money to build the factory, while the land has been leased by the Railway ministry for 30 years at the rate of 8% of the current value of land.

Chandigarh: Team of Chandigarh XI defeated Northern Railways side by 2-0, in the ongoing 43rd SN Vohra - All India Gurmit Memorial Hockey Tournament, being held at hockey stadium, Sector 42.Neeraj strike a goal in the 42nd minute, while Trivani Parshad doubled the winning margin in the 67th minute. The Railways side failed to reduce the margin. In the second match, the EME Jalandhar defeated ITBP by 5-2. For EME, Salman Fringe scored the first goal in the 7th minute and again put the team ahead in the very next minute. He scripted both goals with his brilliant stick work and dodging the defenders. Sunil Kumar followed his teammate’s footsteps with scoring another goal in the 11th minute. Failed to clear the ball, EME side conceded a self goal in the 29th minute. But right-half, Avtar Singh covered the damages and put the score to 4-1 in the 42nd minute. High on performance, EME side scored the final goal through CK Chingapa in the 61st minute. For ITBP, Gagandeep reduced the margin in the 67th minute.In the last match, the Punjab Police team defeated Signals at 5-3. New Delhi: Two dead bodies were found on the railway tracks in Delhi’s Mandawali area last night.Pankaj and Daresh, who were neighbors, had left their homes on Wednesday  night. Soon after, their families were informed about their death.Daresh was employed at a five star hotel and Pankaj worked with a private company.Both the bodies have been sent for post-mortem. Police is now trying to find out whether it was a case of twin murders or suicide.

MANGALORE: Konkan Railway will operate AC Super Fast special trains between Ahmedabad and Mangalore on a weekly basis during Diwali Festival to clear extra rush of passengers.The Ahmedabad - Mangalore Special train 09420 will run on every Wednesday from October 16 to November 27 with a total of seven trips. The train will leave from Ahmedabad at 4.35pm and will reach Mangalore at 7.40 pm next day. This time table is applicable up to October 31 of monsoon time table. From November 1 onwards during the non monsoon Time Table, the train will leave from Ahmedabad at 4.35 pm and will reach at Mangalore at 7.05 pm on next day.Train 09419 Mangalore - Ahmedabad Special train will run every Thursday from October 17 to November 28, again with a total of seven trips. The train will leave from Mangalore at 10.30 pm and reach Ahmedabad at 12.50 am on third day up to October 31. From November 1 onwards, the train will leave from Mangalore at 10.30pm and reach Ahmedabad at 23.15 pm on second day.

The special trains will halt at Nadiyad, Anand, Vadodara, Bharuch, Surat, Navsari, Valsad, Vapi, Vasai, Panvel, Roha, Khed, Chiplun, Sangameshwar, Ratnagiri, Kankavali, Kudal, Pernem, Thivim, Karmali, Madgaon, Karwar, Kumta, Murdeshwar, Bhatkal, Kundapur, Udupi, Suratkal, Thokur. The train will have 15 Coaches.

Railways plans to induct high power locomotives to carry more goods at higher speed as part of its technological upgrading programme.According to the plan, the national transporter has produced the prototype 5500 horsepower (HP) diesel locomotives which are already running as a pilot project in North Central Railway.Known as 5500 HP WDG5, the high power locomotive is being developed by Diesel Locomotive Works (DLW) at Varanasi, a production unit of Railways.There will be more such high power locomotives manufactured at the DLW in future, said a senior Railway Ministry official.The 5500 HP WDG5 is primarily aimed at improving the capacity with higher balancing speed. The locomotive is equipped with advanced technology such as electronic fuel injection (for higher fuel efficiency and emission control) to run at 100 km per hour speed higher axle load.DLW's locomotive designs implement collision protection, provision for heating, ventilation and air conditioning and improved visibility thereby setting up new standards for crew comport and safety.Currently, DLW manufactures locomotives with a wide horsepower range, from 1400 HP to 5500 HP for multiple track gauges.Besides meeting the needs of non-railway customers in India, DLW is exporting locomotives to Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Malaysia, Tanzania, Sudan, Senegal, Mozambique and Myanmar.The factory is also manufacturing diesel generator (DG) sets and supplying them to Nuclear Power Corporation India Limited's plants at Kota, Narora, Kaiga and Kalpakkam.

Having manufactured over 6700 locomotives till date, DLW is now one of the biggest locomotive manufacturers in the world. In 2012-13, it manufactured an unprecedented 294 locomotives, thereby increasing its production nearly three times from 112 locomotives manufactured in 2002-03.

Set up in 1964, DLW will be completing 50 years of its production service next year.

Amritsar: Even as the Union Railway Ministry had announced the commencement of Amritsar-Lalkuan Express in February this year, its launch has got delayed due to want of notification.It has been learnt that the racks have arrived here for the train which would operate once in a week.The train would facilitate a large section of Sikh population residing in Lalkuan area of Uttarakhand, which is also called mini-Punjab in the hill state. Operationalisation of the train is being keenly awaited by the families whose relatives are settled in this part of Uttarakhand where Bajpur and Udham Singh Nagar having sizeable Sikh population are situated.Nishan Singh, a local resident, whose relatives reside at Bajpur, said a stoppage at Baijpur must be announced to felicitate smooth travel for the Punjabi families living there. He maintained that odd departure schedule of 12 pm from Lal Kuan was highly inconvenient for the passengers, especially coming from far off places.He said a three-hour-long stay at Muradabad would unnecessarily prolong the journey. He said for the convenience of the public, the train’s name must reflect a prominent place like Amritsar-Uttarakhand instead of Lal Kuan which is not widely known.Naresh Chander Goel, Divisional Railway Manager, Ferozepur Range, said they were awaiting the arrival of notification to start the train. He said the decision for naming the train was done at the headquarters level. The decision on fixing the schedule for the train’s departure was taken after evaluating various factors in account, he added. He said no final decision had been taken on the VVIP who would flag off the train.

192 ADDITIONAL COACHES AUGMENTED IN DIFFERENT REGULAR TRAINS.

          More than o­ne lakh additional berths have been created by East Coast Railway to clear the waitlisted passengers during Puja Season this year i.e. from September to October 2013.

          With a view to provide comfort to the commuters and also to clear the huge waitlist of passengers during the peak season, East Coast Railway has taken steps to run special trains towards different destinations from its jurisdiction and also by augmenting additional coaches in different mail/express trains. Through this, 1,76,580 additional berths (including 94,564 additional berths originating from ECoR) have been created to provide comfortable journey to the passengers during this peak Puja-rush Season.

          Similarly, Railways is running 16 Special Trains from and through ECoR jurisdiction towards different destinations of the country out of which 07 special trains (65 trips) are originating from East Coast Railway System. The special trains originating from East Coast Railway jurisdiction will provide 66,544 additional berths to the commuters travelling to their destinations during the period. These trains are- Bhubaneswar-New Delhi AC Super fast Express via Angul and Sambalpur City, Bhubaneswar-Yesvantpur AC Super fast Express,  Visakhapatnam-Tata via Keonjhar, Puri-Santragachhi, Puri-Sealdah, Visakhapatnam-Kollam and Visakhapatnam-Secunderabad AC Super fast Express. Apart from this, 82,026 berths have been created in 09 special trains passing through ECoR jurisdiction to facilitate the passengers between Hatia & Yesvantpur via Sambalpur, Santragachhi-Kochuveli, Hyderabad-Shalimar, Shalimar-Yesvantpur, Secunderabad-Guwahati, Kamakhya-Yesvantpur, Kamakhya-Chennai, Santragachhi-Chennai and Dibrugarh & Kochuveli.

East Coast Railways would like passengers to avail the services of these special trains during the forthcoming Puja Season to avoid rush in regular Mail/Express long distance trains.
