South East Central Railway (SECR) changes platform numbers at Gondia railway station. From Thursday, platform number 3 will become platform number 7. Earlier, this platform was rechristined as platform number 4A.

Traffic on Mysore-Nanjangud railway line came to a standstill for more than one hour due to a protest against an accident which claimed the legs of a woman who fell under a train.Rathnamma (59), a native of Thandavapura, suffered grievous injuries and was shifted to K R Hospital.She had come to her daughter’s house in Badanaval  village and was at the railway station to board a train to Chamarajnagar when she lost balance, slipped and fell under the Chamarajnagar-Mysore passenger train. She lost both her legs though passengers tried to pull the emergency chain to stop the moving train.Enraged, villagers and passengers accused the driver and staff of callousness and sat on the track in protest, blocking traffic for more than 90 minutes. They also demanded compensation for her from the Railways.The Railway police refused to accept their complaint. The train was finally allowed to leave at 3.10 pm.

BHOPAL: Now one can drive up to the platform and board the coach of Bhopal-New Delhi Shatabdi Express at the Bhopal railway station. The drive-in facility at platform no. 6 at the state has become operational on Saturday.In fact, Bhopal has become third city in the country with the facility of a drive-in platform after Kolkata and Mumbai.With the drive-in facility passengers boarding and alighting Shatabdi Express will now be spared from the trouble of jostling through the rush and using the foot-over-bridge to catch the train.Among other trains, Shatabdi Express would now originate and depart from this platform.Urban administration minister Babulal Gaur and Member of Parliament Kailash Joshi dedicated the platform to the people at a simple function organised at Bhopal railway station.Constructed at a cost of Rs 2 crore, the 720 meter stretch of platform no. 6 has five water stands with 10 bench facilities.Addressing the gathering Gaur said, "Efforts are being made to provide best facilities at both Bhopal and Habibganj railway stations. Drive-in platform is in the series of those efforts."The drive-in platform was sanctioned in the 2011-12 rail budget. Some work like over-shed, building construction are yet to be completed. Bhopal divisional railway manager, west -central railways Rajeev Chaudhary said all work will be completed in the next one year. Besides, no construction would be made on the ground floor of platform number 6.

"Its first floor will have railway waiting room, rest room and cafeteria among others," he said.

Presiding over the function, Member of Parliament from Bhopal Kailash Joshi urged the railway ministry to start double-decker train between Bhopal and Indore as early as possible," he said.

Chiranjeevi has advised the students to learn ‘Hindi’ language, which was much in use in majority of the States.Speaking at a programme organised in connection with ‘Hindi Dinotsav’, at Kakaraparti Bhavanarayana College (KBN) here on Saturday, he said that Hindi was the most popular language after English in the world. He explained the students on implementation of ‘Raja Basha’ in various government departments.College principal P. Krishna Murthy, vice-principal V. Narayana Rao, Junior College principal S. Sashi Kala, Hindi department head P. Devaraj and other faculty participated.

In a joint statement issued here on Saturday, Mr. Rajanikanth and BJP city unit president Umamaheswara Raju said the party took the right decision in choosing Mr. Modi as Prime Minister candidate. They predicted that BJP would win with flying colours under the leadership of the Gujarat Chief Minister in the next elections. The party activists burst crackers and distributed sweets. They expressed happiness over the party’s decision in announcing the PM candidate for 2014 elections.

Speakers at the ‘Youth Services Celebrations’ expressed concern over poor social consciousness among the students. Many problems are arising due to lack of responsibility in youngsters leading to mental stress. The programme was organised by Rotary Club of Vijayawada Visionary Couples at KBN College on Saturday.

Psychiatrist R.K. Ayodhya and Club president V. Sravani observed that students are ignoring social consciousness, which was causing many problems and stressed the need to enlighten the youth on problems in the society and other core issues.

वाराणसी। मुख्य संरक्षा अधिकारी (सीएसओ) सीबीके सिंह ने शुक्रवार को कैंट रेलवे स्टेशन के प्लेटफार्म और यार्ड का निरीक्षण किया। इसके बाद उन्होंने पत्रकारों से कहा कि पिछले साल के मुकाबले अबकी संरक्षा व्यवस्था में 70 फीसदी का सुधार हुआ है। शेष 30 फीसदी व्यवस्था भी छह महीने के अंदर सुधर जाएगी।

उन्होंने बताया कि स्लीपर और प्वाइंट बदले जाएंगे। पिछले वर्षों के मुकाबले इस वर्ष कैंट स्टेशन और यार्ड में दुर्घटनाएं कम हुई हैं। वर्ष 2013-14 में दो हादसे हुए जबकि इससे पहले हर साल आधा दर्जन से अधिक घटनाएं होती रही हैं। उन्होंने कहा कि कैंट के प्लेटफार्म छोटे हैं। बड़ी ट्रेनों के कोच प्लेटफार्म से बाहर रहते हैं। संरक्षा और सुरक्षा की दृष्टि से यार्ड और प्लेटफार्म की रीमॉडलिंग जरूरी है। जहां-जहां खामियां रह गई थीं उसको ठीक करने के लिए स्थानीय अधिकारियों से कहा गया है। उधर, जांच के दौरान स्थानीय अधिकारियों को पसीने छूट रहे थे। क्योंकि सीएसओ ने एक-एक प्वाइंट को बारीकी से देखा। सीएसओ ने लोहता और अंधरापुल की तरफ प्वाइंट को देखा। इसके बाद स्टेशन प्रबंधक कार्यालय में आकर रेललाइन का नक्शा देखा। पूछा कि इसमें कौन सबसे पुराना प्वाइंट है जो बदला नहीं गया। अधिकारियों ने एक-एक प्वाइंट के बारे में विस्तार से जानकारी दी। सीएसओ के साथ स्टेशन प्रबंधक एके पांडेय सहित अन्य अधिकारी मौजूद थे।

इलाहाबाद (ब्यूरो)। इलाहाबाद जंक्शन के यात्री चार ट्रेनों महानगरी एक्सप्रेस, जनता एक्सप्रेस, चंबल एक्सप्रेस, और क्षिप्रा एक्सप्रेस को हमेशा के लिए भूल जाएं। रेलवे प्रशासन ने चारों ट्रेनों को छिवकी स्टेशन से ही चलाने की तारीख भी घोषित कर दी है। अगले 60 दिन बाद यह ट्रेनें छिवकी से ही मुंबई, वाराणसी, ग्वालियर, हावड़ा, मथुरा और इंदौर के लिए रवाना हो जाएंगी। इन ट्रेनों को पकड़ने के लिए यात्रियों को छिवकी स्टेशन ही जाना पड़ेगा। उधर, सुरक्षा इंतजाम न होने के कारण मुंबई से आने वाली महानगरी एक्सप्रेस के यात्रियों को छिवकी स्टेशन पर परेशानी का सामना करना पड़ सकता है। यह ट्रेन आधी रात में छिवकी स्टेशन पहुंचेगी। साथ ही नाममात्र की यात्री सुविधाएं भी छिवकी में यात्रियों के लिए मुसीबत बन सकती हैं। हालांकि, सीपीआरओ संदीप माथुर के मुताबिक ट्रेनों को छिवकी स्टेशन से शुरू करने के पहले कुछ सुविधाएं उपलब्ध करा दी जाएंगी।
