He was reported missing from a train early on Tuesday

A well-known doctor from Odisha, who was reported missing from the Kolkata-Thiruvananthapuram Shalimar Express early on Tuesday, was traced within couple of hours, thanks to the Closed Circuit Television network at Chennai central railway station.The doctor’s son Prabhav Behera said his father might have gone for a cup of tea when the train left. “Having gone through years of strenuous service, he tends to panic during stressful conditions. We are grateful to the police for tracking him down within a short time,” he said.The physician, who retired as Deputy Director of AIDS Control Society, Odisha, was travelling with his family to Thiruvananthapuram. When the train reached Katpadi around 6.30am on Tuesday, he was found missing from the coach. The family lodged a complaint with Government Railway Police.On instructions of Additional Director-General of Police (Railways) R. Sekar, six teams were formed to locate the missing person. Perusal of CCTV footage in Chennai central showed the 62-year-old doctor walking out of the platform. Cameras at other platforms captured him walking towards the exit on the Moore Market Complex side. “The doctor was suffering from some kind of a short-term memory loss. Our teams launched a manhunt in the vicinity and traced him sitting at the bus stop opposite to central railway station.”

Quoting family members, Mr. Sekar said the doctor used to wake up at 4 a.m. everyday and go for a walk.

In a separate development, the ADGP said instructions were given to enhance surveillance on the movement of cash in trains. The move follows the seizure of Rs. 30 lakh from a suspected hawala courier at the station last week.

Three weekly special trains from Kamakhya (Guwahati) to Chennai Central and Yesvantpur (Bengaluru), and from Santragachi (Howrah) to Kochuveli (Thiruvanantapuram) will be run to clear extra rush of passengers during the Dasara and Deepavali festivals.The 02508 Kamakhya (Guwahati)-Chennai Central weekly special train will leave Kamakhya (Guwahati) at 2 pm on Mondays from September 9 to November 25 and arrive at Chennai Central at 2.55 pm on Wednesdays.The 02507 Chennai Cetral-Kamakhya (Guwahati) weekly special will leave Chennai Central at 11 am on Thursdays from September 12 to November 28 and arrive at Kamakhya (Guwahati) at 12.30 pm on Saturdays.These trains will stop at Rangiya, Barpeta Road, New Bongaigaon, New Alipurduar, New Coochbehar, New Jalpaiguri, Kishanganj, Barsoi, Malda Town, Rampurhut, Durgapur, Asansol, Adra, Bankura, Midnapur, Hijli, Balasore,Cuttack, Bhubaneswar, Khurda Road, Brahmapur, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, Duvvada, Vijayawada, New Guntur and Gudur stations.The 02552 Kamakhya (Guwahati)-Yesvantpur superfast weekly special train will depart from Kamakhya (Guwahati) at 2 pm on Wednesdays from October 2 to November 27 and arrive at Yesvantpur at 6.30 pm on Fridays. Train 02851 Santragachi-Kochuveli (Trivandrum) weekly special will depart from Santragachi at 4.05 pm on Saturdays from October 5 to November 30 and arrive at Kochuveli (Trivandrum) at 10.30 am on Mondays. मेरठ : दिल्ली से मेरठ हाईस्पीड ट्रेन प्रोजेक्ट अब एनएचएआइ के चक्रव्यूह में फंस गया है। मंगलवार को नई दिल्ली में हुई एनसीआर ट्रांसपोर्ट कारपोरेशन लिमिटेड (एनसीआरटीसीएल) कंपनी की बैठक में एनएचएआइ के सदस्य-सचिव राजीव यादव ने स्पष्ट कहा कि किसी भी हालत में गाजियाबाद से मेरठ तक हाईवे-58 पर यह ट्रेन नहीं दौड़ेगी। यदि ट्रेन को लांच करना है तो एनएच-24 पर यह ट्रेन लाई जाए।
दरअसल, कंपनी के सचिव की अध्यक्षता में हुई इस बैठक में यूपी एनसीआर आयुक्त कल्पना अवस्थी, कमिश्नर मनजीत सिंह, एमडीए उपाध्यक्ष एसके सिंह, नगर नियोजन विवेक भास्कर ने भी भाग लिया। इस बैठक में एनएचएआइ के सचिव राजीव यादव ने कहा कि दिल्ली के निजामुद्दीन से मेरठ के पल्लवपुरम तक हाई स्पीड ट्रेन के ट्रैक का रूट एनएच-58 पर डिजाइन किया गया है। एनएच-58 के बीच डिवाइडर पर करीब आठ से दस फुट चौड़ाई वाले पिलर हाई स्पीड ट्रेन के लिए ट्रैक तैयार करने पर पूरी सड़क प्रभावित होगी। ऐसे में इस प्रोजेक्ट के लिए एनएच-24 का चयन किया जाता है तो यह दिक्कत नहीं होगी। ट्रेन निजामुद्दीन से यूपी गेट होते हुए एनएच-24 के डिवाइडर के बीच से होकर डासना तक जा सकती है। डासना से प्रस्तावित मेरठ एक्सप्रेस वे के डिवाइडर से होकर हाई स्पीड ट्रेन मेरठ जानी चाहिए। छह लेन वाले मेरठ-दिल्ली एक्सप्रेस की चौड़ाई 90 मीटर है और डिवाइडर 14 मीटर चौड़ा है। मेरठ-दिल्ली एक्सप्रेस का लिंक मेरठ बच्चा पार्क तक है। इस रूट से यदि प्रोजेक्ट डिजाइन होता है तो प्रोजेक्ट के लंबाई 97 किमी के बजाय 104 किमी होगी और लागत 15 हजार करोड़ के बजाय 15800 करोड़ हो जाएगी। सचिव ने कहा कि इस मुद्दे पर शीघ्र बैठक होगी। हालांकि कल्पना अवस्थी ने कहा कि यदि यह प्रोजेक्ट एनएच-24 से लांच किया तो इसकी महत्ता ही समाप्त हो जाएगी। जितने यात्री एनएच-58 पर मिल सकते हैं, वह एनएच-24 पर नही मिलेंगे। वैसे भी जब इस प्रोजेक्ट पर कार्य होगा तो एनएच-58 पर गाजियाबाद से आने वाले वाहनों को कांवड़ नहर पटरी मार्ग से निकाला जा सकता है। इस मार्ग को चौड़ा करने के लिए 350 करोड़ का प्रोजेक्ट स्वीकृत हो चुका है। एक अक्टूबर से पूर्व इस प्रोजेक्ट पर काम भी शुरू होगा।

सुल्तानपुर : पड़ोसी जिले प्रतापगढ़ में सेना भर्ती चल रही है। उस ओर जाने वाली फैजाबाद की ट्रेनें ठसाठस भरी तो हैं ही, साथ ही यात्री भी बेअंदाजी से सफर कर रहे हैं। यहां तक कि इंजन व डिब्बों के बीच और दरवाजों पर युवा लटक कर यात्रा कर रहे हैं। यात्री अपनी जिंदगी तो दांव पर लगा ही रहें हैं, मगर जीआरपी और आरपीएफ भी मूकदर्शक बने हुए हैं। दो दिन के भीतर ही जिले में ट्रेन जनित हादसों में चार लोगों की जान जा चुकी हैं। मगर कोई भी चेतने को तैयार नहीं है।
अढ़नपुर रेलवे क्रासिंग के पास रविवार को एक दंपती की ट्रेन से कटकर मौत हो गई। सुल्तानपुर स्टेशन पर सुबह ट्रेन पकड़ते समय पैर फिसल गया। रेलगाड़ी के नीचे आ जाने से उसकी कटकर मौत हो गई। मंगलवार को कूरेभार रेलवे स्टेशन के पास फूलपुर निवासी अधेड़ की ट्रेन की चपेट में आ जाने से मौत हो गई, लेकिन दो दिन में चार मौतों के बाद भी लोगों पर कोई असर नहीं पड़ा। रेलवे के जिम्मेदार भी नहीं चेत रहे हैं। इसका असर आज दोपहर में फैजाबाद से प्रयाग जाने वाली पैसेंजर ट्रेन पर देखने को मिला। प्रतापगढ़ में सेना भर्ती के लिए जा रहे बड़ी संख्या में युवा ट्रेन के इंजन व डिब्बों के बीच वाली जगह तथा दरवाजों पर लटककर सफर करते दिखे। जब कूरेभार से यह रेलगाड़ी गुजरी तो वहां के रेलकर्मियों ने इसकी जानकारी सुल्तानपुर स्टेशन मास्टर को दी। पैसेंजर ट्रेन के पहुंचते ही जीआरपी व आरपीएफ के जवान प्लेटफार्म नंबर तीन पर मुस्तैद हो गए। कड़ी मशक्कत के बाद इंजन से युवाओं को उतार लिया गया। बावजूद इसके डिब्बों के बीच व दरवाजों पर लटक कर सफर करने वालों की संख्या नहीं घटी।

VADODARA: Lord Ganesha - the remover of obstacles - seems to have removed obstacles along communal lines at Godhra's railway institute. A member of the minority community at the institute has been at the forefront of organizing the Ganpati festivities for over a decade.From procurement of the idol to organizing events - Siraj Ansari has been neck deep in preparations for the festival for 15 years now. Ansari took over the reins of the institute as its secretary in 1997 and since then has been actively involved in organizing the festival.Ansari said that the committee for the Western Railway Institute at Godhra organizes a series of events including festivals, sports meets, cultural programmes and others. "The Ganpati festivities are one of the important events that we have been organizing since 1942," Ansari says.Besides organizing the event, Ansari is also well acquainted with the history of the Ganpati pandals in Godhra. "In 1942, when the festivities started, it was held only at our place, state reserve police group here, civil lines and police lines. My father also followed the festival keenly and told me about its background in the town," he said. Ansari says that the railways were a melting pot of all religions and communities. "There is a spirit of unity. When I need help or leaves for my festivals or functions, all officers and colleagues send me," he said.

Ansari pointed out that as an organizer, he ensured that interesting competitions and cultural events were held during the festival. "Children and families of employees enjoy these events.

For us Indians all festivals are alike. My organizing the festivities should not come as a surprise," he said.

Chandigarh: The Northern Railways is introducing a new train on the Ambala-Delhi route to ply daily from September 14. On the inaugural day, the Ambala Cantonment-Delhi junction train (No. 14522) will depart from the Ambala station at 11.25 am and reach the National Capital at 5.20 pm. The train will halt at Barara, Jagadhari Workshop, Jagadhari, Saharanpur, Muzaffarnagar, Meerut City, Modi Nagar, Ghaziabad and Shahdara stations on the way to Delhi.Official said the routine schedule will be different from timings on the inaugural day. According to the schedule, the train will depart from Ambala Cantonment at 5.40 am and arrive at Delhi at 11.40 am. On the return journey, the 14521 Delhi junction-Ambala Cantonment train will depart at 1.10 pm and reach Ambala at 7.10 pm.The train comprises 16 coaches that include an AC chair car, ten general class and two differently abled-friendly second class-cum-luggage van coaches.

Announced but awaited

Former Union Railway Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal said he has been communicating with the ministry to commence two trains announced during his tenure: bi-weekly Kalka-Sai Nagar Shirdi Express, via Chandigarh, Hazrat Nizamuddin, Bhopal and Itrasi, and weekly Una-Nangaldam-Hazoor Saheb Nanded Express, via Chandigarh. The schedule for running these trains has not been finalised yet, due to the non-availability of rail coaches.

Other trains still awaiting the green signal despite being announced by Bansal include the Chandigarh-Amritsar Intercity Express, via Mohali and Ludhiana (daily); Indore-Chandigarh Express, via Dewas, Ujjain, Guna, Gwalior and Hazrat Nizamuddin (weekly); Kalka-Jammu-Udhampur to Katra Express, via Chandigarh (bi-weekly); Patlipura-Chandigarh Express, via Chandigarh, Ambala Cantt. and Saharanpur (bi-weekly); Amritsar-Lalkuan Express, via Chandigarh (weekly); and Yesvantpur (Bengaluru)-Nizamuddin to Chandigarh.

पश्चिम मध्य रेलवे के मुख्यालय जबलपुर ने कोटा-झालावाड़ ट्रेन को 11 कोच से चलाने की मंजूरी दे दी है। अब शीघ्र ही इस ट्रेन में 8 से बढ़ाकर 11 कोच हो जाएंगे। पर्याप्त ट्रैफिक मिलने के बावजूद ट्रेन में कोच की संख्या कम होने के बारे में भास्कर ने प्रमुखता से समाचार प्रकाशित किया था।

 

सवा दो महीने पहले 7 कोच की कोटा से झालावाड़ ट्रेन चलाई गई थी। त्योहारी सीजन में भीड़ बढऩे पर इसे 8 कोच का कर दिया गया था। इस ट्रेन को पर्याप्त ट्रैफिक मिल रहा है। इससे डेली अपडाउनर्स भी भारी संख्या में यात्रा करते हैं। इधर, कोटा से झालावाड़ का हाइवे खराब पड़ा है। इस रास्ते से लोग झालावाड़ तक यात्रा करने में कतराते हैं।

 

इसको देखते हुए रेल प्रशासन द्वारा ट्रेन दोनों ट्रिप में तीन-तीन कोच बढ़ाने के प्रस्ताव को जबलपुर में सीओएम अनुराग ने मंजूरी दे दी है। इसका पत्र भी कोटा रेलवे कार्यालय में आ पहुंचा है। इससे हाड़ौती के यात्रियों को बेहतर सुविधा मिलेगी। कोटा से नीमच व कोटा से बड़ौदा के बीच चलाई जाने वाली पैसेंजर ट्रेन अब 11-11 कोच से चलाई जाएगी। इसकी भी जबलपुर मुख्यालय से मंजूरी मिल गई है। अभी ये ट्रेनें 8-8 कोच की चलाई जा रही हैं। इन दोनों ट्रेनों में कोच बढऩे से नीमच व बड़ौदा की तरफ जाने वाले यात्रियों को बेहतर सुविधा मिलेगी।

In order to clear extra rush of passengers during ensuing festive occasions, South Eastern Railway (SER) has decided to run 17 pairs of fully air-conditioned special  trains with pantry car facility between Santragachi-Chennai and Santragachi-Mumbai(LTT) on different nominated days in between October 5 and December 2.

(08041) Santragachi-Chennai Weekly AC Superfast Special (nine pairs), leaving Santragachi every Saturday at 7 pm will reach Chennai at 10.45 pm the next day.  In the return direction, the train (08042) will leave Chennai at 7.50 am every Monday arriving Santragachi at 10.25 am, the next day. The AC Superfast Special train consisting of 15 coaches (AC 3 tier-7, AC 2 tier-4, 1st AC-1, Pantry Car-1 and Luggage Van-2) will have stoppages at Kharagpur, Balasore, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Bhubaneswar,Khurda Road, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, Samalkot, Rajahmundry, Vijayawada, Ongole, Nellore & Gudur between Santragachi and Chennai.

(08060) Santragachi-Mumbai (LTT) Weekly Superfast AC Special (eight pairs), leaving Santragachi at 06.05 am every Wednesday will reach Mumbai (LTT) at 1.35 pm on the following day.  In the return direction; the special train (08059) will leave Mumbai (LTT) at 00.45 am every Friday arriving Santragachi at 08am on the next day. The Superfast AC special train consisting of 15 coaches (AC 3 tier-7, AC 2 tier-4, 1st AC-1, Pantry Car-1 and luggage van-2) will have stoppages at Kharagpur, Tatanagar, Chakradharpur, Rourkela, Jharsuguda, Bilaspur, Raipur, Durga, Gondia, Nagpur, Wardha, Badnera, Akola, Bhusawal, Manmad, Nasik, Igatpuri and  Kalyan between Santragachi and Mumbai(LTT).

This is in addition to 73 pairs of Puja Special Trains between Santragachi-Puri(9 pairs), Shalimar- Yeswantpur(8 pairs), Santragachi-Anand Vihar(8 pairs), Santragachi-Kochuveli( 9 pairs), Sealdah-Puri(7 pairs), Tata-Bhagalpur( 8 pairs), Hatia-Yeswantpur( 8 pairs) and Ranchi-Kathihar(16 pairs) which have been announced earlier by SER

Railways' RLDA Plans to Develop 75 Multi-Functional Complexs during Current Fiscal
New Delhi: Rail Land Development Authority (RLDA), a statutory authority established by the Ministry of Railways for generating non-tariff revenue from railway land, has prepared an action plan for fast tracking the development of 75 Multi Functional Complexes (MFC) sites in current year for which bidding process is being initiated in phases. So far, RLDA has invited nine bids in the current year for development of 43 MFCs in Northern, Western and Southern India. Prominent stations are Dehradun, Ujjain, Vasai Road, Anand, Somnath, Lokmanya Tilak Terminus, Gulbarga, Vijayawada, Amritsar, Amethi and Chandigarh. In the current year, there has been very good response for the last bidding carried out in Western Railway in which a total of 25 financial bids were received. Financial bids for these MFCs were opened on September 10th and the total present value of the lease premium and annual lease rent received for MFCs at eight stations is Rs. 20.27 crore which is much more than the minimum expectation of RLDA from these sites.

Now, in its forthcoming endeavour to develop MFCs in Andhra Pradesh, RLDA is holding a pre-bid conference at Hyderabad tomorrow i.e. 12th September 2013 to invite bids for commercial development of MFCs at eight stations in cities of tourist and religious interest in Andhra Pradesh, namely Dharmavaram, Karimnagar, Kurnool Town, Nellore, Nizamabad, Vijayawada, Zahirabad and Kacheguda. These eight centralised complexes will have the facilities for rail users such as shopping, food stalls/restaurants, book stalls, ATMs, medicines and variety stores, budget hotels, parking etc. Prominent bidders and developers from retail and hotel chain industries have expressed their keen interest to attend this pre-bid conference.

Multi Functional Complex project offers unique opportunity for retailers, hotel chain operators, developers and other such stakeholders for expanding and enlarging their footprint across hundreds of important towns and cities in the country. Real estate consultants like Knight Frank and JLL are advising RLDA in planning and marketing the MFCs sites. Several leading brands, retail, hotel chains and developers have expressed their interest in MFCs being developed by RLDA and prominent among them are Pantaloon, Café Coffee Day, The Loot, Woodland, Apodis Hospitality, Krishnan Palace Residency, WH Smith (Travel News Services). MFCs at 26 railway stations developed jointly with IrconISL and RITES have already been completed and are waiting for being leased out, prominent places being Haridwar, Udaipur, Raipur, Madurai, Allahabad, Jabalpur, Burdwan, Manmad, Guntur.

Several other important sites for commercial development of surplus railway land including Bandra, Katra, Amritsar, Chennai, Vijayawada, Aurangabad, Vishakhapatnam and Bangalore are also soon going to be offered for bidding for leasing up to 30-45 years. These sites are attractively located in the respective cities and are suitable for shopping malls, entertainment, offices, hotels and other such real estate developments. RLDA has targeted for earning more than Rs. 1000 crore from these sites during the current financial year.

RLDA has also been entrusted by Ministry of Railways for development of five railway stations at Chandigarh, Anand Vihar (Delhi), Bijwasan (Delhi), Habibganj (Bhopal) and Shivajinagar (Pune) into modern railway stations with excellent facilities for rail users. These stations are being developed through Indian Railway Stations Development Corporation Ltd., a joint venture company created by IRCON and RLDA in which the former is the majority partner. The company has already started operation and Master Plans are under finalisation. These stations will be developed by leveraging the real estate and retail potential at the railway stations.
