रांची-लोहरदगा रेल खंड में यात्रियों की सुरक्षा देने की मांग झामुमो जिलाध्यक्ष पिंजु भगत ने रेल प्रबंधक से की है। उन्होंने इस मुद्दे को लेकर लोहरदगा रेलवे स्टेशन मास्टर के माध्यम से रेल प्रबंधक को पत्र भेजा है। पत्र के माध्यम से उन्होंने कहा है कि विगत दिनों रेलगाड़ी से लोहरदगा आ रहे यात्री अफसर इमाम, हताप इमाम, नौशाद कुरैशी एवं गुलजार कुरैशी नामक यात्री को नरकोपी रेलवे स्टेशन पर असमाजिक तत्वों ने बेवजह बुरी तरह से पीटा, जिससे सभी यात्री घायल हो गए, इनकी स्थिति गंभीर बनी हुई है। रांची-लोहरदगा रेल खंड इन दिनों असामाजिक तत्वों का उत्पात काफी बढ़ गया है। अचानक से किसी भी दिन असामाजिक तत्वों द्वारा यात्री रेल गाड़ी का चेन पुलिंग कर रेल सेवा को बाधित किया जा रही है। साथ ही कई स्टेशनों पर पत्थर फेंकने की घटना हो चुकी है। इसलिए यात्रियों की सुरक्षा के मद्देनजर रे प्रशासन इस दिशा में त्वरित कार्रवाई करे। झामुमो की मांग पर कार्रवाई नहीं होने पर आंदोलन की रूख अख्तियार करने की बात कही गई है।

Agartala : The work on extending railway connectivity between Agartala and Tripura’s southernmost subdivision Sabroom is hamstrung by funds crunch and land acquisition problems.A 5km stretch of land between Bishalgarh subdivision and Charilam continues to be under encroachment.Almost 80 per cent of the 135km-long railway track between Agartala and Sabroom passes through a reserve forest area, which has not yet received clearance from the Union ministry of environment and forests. So this stretch of land cannot be brought under railway network.Harpal Singh, chief engineer (construction) of NF Railway, said they have sought chief minister Manik Sarkar’s intervention in clearing the land between Bishalgarh and Charilam of encroachers and to secure clearance from the Centre.He visited Tripura yesterday as the head of a delegation of NF Railway officials to monitor the progress in work.“Another major problem we are facing is funds crunch, mainly because of the steep price escalation. The project was scheduled to be completed by March 2014 but, as things stand now, it will take another year. We hope the railway connectivity between Agartala and Sabroom will be effective in March 2016,” Singh said.

He said the chief minister he assured them of all co-operation and that land acquisition problems would be satisfactorily resolved.

Besides, Singh said, the task of laying broad-gauge track between Lumding and Agartala would be completed by March 2015.

NAVI MUMBAI: Railways have introduced additional festival special trains along the Konkan coast to clear extra rush during the ongoing Ganpati and upcoming Onam festivals.

The unreserved special trains between Roha and Ratnagiri will run during Ganesh Chaturthi and New Delhi-Kuchuveli Superfast express will run during the upcoming Onam festival.For Ganesh Chaturthi, train no. 05010 Ratnagiri - Roha will leave Ratnagiri at 0650 hours and reach Roha at 12:50 hours the same day. Train no. 05009 Roha - Ratnagiri will leave Roha at 15:30 hours and reach Ratnagiri at 21:00 hours the same day. These trains will run on September 11, 15, 16 and 19 which will have 12 unreserved coaches.For Onam, train no. 04096 New Delhi-Kochuveli Superfast Express will leave New Delhi at 23:30 hours on September 12 to reach Kochuveli at 02:45 hours on the fourth day. Train no. 04095 Kohcuveli-New Delhi will leave Kochuveli at 09.40 hours on September 17 to reach New Delhi at 15:20 hours on the third day.The special trains will halt at Mathura, Sawai Madhopur, Kota, Nagda, Ratlam, Dahod, Godhara, Vadodara, Bharuch, Surat, Navsari, Valsad, Vapi, Vasai Road, Panvel, Roha, Chiplun, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Pernem, Madgaon, Karwar, Udupi, Manglore Junction, Kasargod, Kannur, Kozhikode, Tirur, Shoranur Junction, Thrisur, Aluva, Ernakulam Town, Kottayam, Tiruvalla, Chengannur, Kayankulam, Quilon and Kochuveli.

BHUBANESWAR: After a commendable show in freight loading and earning in 2012-13, East Coast Railway (ECoR) today said it has achieved record revenue loading performance to become the highest freight loading zone of Indian Railways this fiscal.During the first five months of the current fiscal, ECoR has loaded 61.83 million tonnes (mt) of freight as compared to 52.28 mt achieved in the corresponding period of last year by registering an increase of 18.3 per cent, ECoR said in a statement.The incremental loading of East Coast is the highest in Indian Railways surpassing loading figure of South East Central Railway (60.98 mt) and South Eastern Railway (55.47 mt) of freight till August.In August, ECoR has loaded 12.41 mt of freight registering an increase of 26.4 per cent from the loading of August, 2012.In that month, South East Central Railway loaded 11.465 mt and South Eastern Railway loaded 11.05 mt, it said.ECoR is also the only zonal railway which surpassed the loading target in first five months of the current fiscal.On the earning side, this zone has earned Rs 4878.46 crore from the first five months of the current financial year which is 18.2 per cent more than the corresponding period last year. ECoR has earned Rs 4127.02 crore during the first five months of last financial year.

In August, ECoR earned Rs 932.28 crore in originating goods earning as compared to 754.27 crore achieved in August 2012 registering an increase of 23.6 per cent.

Train No.17016 Secunderabad- Bhubaneswar Visakha Express scheduled to depart Secunderabad at  17 00 hrs today i.e., 11th September, 2013 (Wednesday) is re-scheduled to depart at 19 15 hrs due to late running of its pairing train.

A truck with an empty trailer went off the railway overbridge at Karuppur on the Salem to Bengaluru National Highway at around 9.15pm on Monday, with a portion of it landing on the railway track below it.Omalur Police said that the incident happened when the truck that was heading towards Omalur from Salem went out of control. It knocked against the side wall and went off the bridge. While the name of the truck driver was not known, the Police said that he was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. “His condition is stable. Nobody else was injured in the incident”, they added.“The rear of the truck went off the road and the tail end of the open trailer landed on the track below. The front of the truck got stuck on top of the overbridge”, Police source said. The Police and Railway officials said that there was minor damage to the track while the electric cables were not affected in the incident.The repair works on the track began around 9.45pm and were completed in three hours. “Movement of trains resumed at 12.45am. Five trains from Salem were delayed due to this fault, while trains bound to Salem were not affected as the works were carried out on time”, an official said.Bombay to Kanyakumari Express that should have crossed the damaged portion shortly after the incident was stopped well in advance. Four other trains were stopped on the way. The Blue Mountain Express was stopped at Coimbatore and the delay in its start was made up in the running time, the official said.The Divisional Railway Manager (Salem Division) Sujatha Jayaraj and the head of various departments supervised the repair works.

VADODARA: Lord Ganesha - the remover of obstacles - seems to have removed obstacles along communal lines at Godhra's railway institute. A member of the minority community at the institute has been at the forefront of organizing the Ganpati festivities for over a decade.From procurement of the idol to organizing events - Siraj Ansari has been neck deep in preparations for the festival for 15 years now. Ansari took over the reins of the institute as its secretary in 1997 and since then has been actively involved in organizing the festival.Ansari said that the committee for the Western Railway Institute at Godhra organizes a series of events including festivals, sports meets, cultural programmes and others. "The Ganpati festivities are one of the important events that we have been organizing since 1942," Ansari says.Besides organizing the event, Ansari is also well acquainted with the history of the Ganpati pandals in Godhra. "In 1942, when the festivities started, it was held only at our place, state reserve police group here, civil lines and police lines. My father also followed the festival keenly and told me about its background in the town," he said. Ansari says that the railways were a melting pot of all religions and communities. "There is a spirit of unity. When I need help or leaves for my festivals or functions, all officers and colleagues send me," he said.

Ansari pointed out that as an organizer, he ensured that interesting competitions and cultural events were held during the festival. "Children and families of employees enjoy these events.

For us Indians all festivals are alike. My organizing the festivities should not come as a surprise," he said.

सुल्तानपुर : पड़ोसी जिले प्रतापगढ़ में सेना भर्ती चल रही है। उस ओर जाने वाली फैजाबाद की ट्रेनें ठसाठस भरी तो हैं ही, साथ ही यात्री भी बेअंदाजी से सफर कर रहे हैं। यहां तक कि इंजन व डिब्बों के बीच और दरवाजों पर युवा लटक कर यात्रा कर रहे हैं। यात्री अपनी जिंदगी तो दांव पर लगा ही रहें हैं, मगर जीआरपी और आरपीएफ भी मूकदर्शक बने हुए हैं। दो दिन के भीतर ही जिले में ट्रेन जनित हादसों में चार लोगों की जान जा चुकी हैं। मगर कोई भी चेतने को तैयार नहीं है।
अढ़नपुर रेलवे क्रासिंग के पास रविवार को एक दंपती की ट्रेन से कटकर मौत हो गई। सुल्तानपुर स्टेशन पर सुबह ट्रेन पकड़ते समय पैर फिसल गया। रेलगाड़ी के नीचे आ जाने से उसकी कटकर मौत हो गई। मंगलवार को कूरेभार रेलवे स्टेशन के पास फूलपुर निवासी अधेड़ की ट्रेन की चपेट में आ जाने से मौत हो गई, लेकिन दो दिन में चार मौतों के बाद भी लोगों पर कोई असर नहीं पड़ा। रेलवे के जिम्मेदार भी नहीं चेत रहे हैं। इसका असर आज दोपहर में फैजाबाद से प्रयाग जाने वाली पैसेंजर ट्रेन पर देखने को मिला। प्रतापगढ़ में सेना भर्ती के लिए जा रहे बड़ी संख्या में युवा ट्रेन के इंजन व डिब्बों के बीच वाली जगह तथा दरवाजों पर लटककर सफर करते दिखे। जब कूरेभार से यह रेलगाड़ी गुजरी तो वहां के रेलकर्मियों ने इसकी जानकारी सुल्तानपुर स्टेशन मास्टर को दी। पैसेंजर ट्रेन के पहुंचते ही जीआरपी व आरपीएफ के जवान प्लेटफार्म नंबर तीन पर मुस्तैद हो गए। कड़ी मशक्कत के बाद इंजन से युवाओं को उतार लिया गया। बावजूद इसके डिब्बों के बीच व दरवाजों पर लटक कर सफर करने वालों की संख्या नहीं घटी।
