Kolhapur: Terror has gripped the people visiting the Kolhapur Railway Station in Maharashtra. In the last two months, six people have been murdered there and all of them have been killed with their heads crushed by a stone. The deaths have sparked fears of a serial killer. "At this spot of the Kolhapur station people come and fall asleep and then they are found murdered," Dilip Desai, a social worker, said. The deaths have also taken a a political turn with the Shiv Sena questioning the failure of the police. Kolhapur is state Home Minister Satej Patil's constituency. "If the Kolhapur Police is not competent enough, then some other authority should be called in," said Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Pawar. |

PATNA: The Bihar government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with a consultant - Rites Ltd - for feasibility study and Detailed Project Report preparation for the proposed 30-km Patna Metro railway project, officials said on Tuesday.The MOU was signed between the Rites Ltd Director (Projects) Arbind Kumar and Urban Development Secretary S Siddarth yesterday.Under the agreement, RITES Ltd will be required to submit the feasibility report by September, 2013 and DPR by December, 2013, they said.In its scope of works, the consultant will be required to identity the mass transit corridors on the basis of detailed traffic demand assessment study, topographic survey, soil survey at 500 meters interval on the proposed stretch among other measures, they said. |
