With a view to clear extra rush of passengers in different mail/express trains towards New Delhi and Sainagar Shirdi, East Coast Railway has decided to run special trains to avoid heavy rush of waitlisted passengers in different regular trains.
BHUBANESWAR-NEW DELHI:
02281/02282 Bhubaneswar-New Delhi-Bhubaneswar weekly super fast special train will leave Bhubaneswar at 0810hrs o­n every Wednesday between 10th July to 31st July 2013 and will arrive at New Delhi o­n the following day at 0605hrs. In the return direction, this train will leave New Delhi at 1300hrs o­n every Thursday between 11th July to 1st August 2013 and will arrive at Bhubaneswar at 1105hrs o­n Friday.
This train will have o­ne AC-2 tier, Four AC-3 tiers, o­ne AC 1st Class, Seven Sleeper Classes and two Guard cum luggage vans in its composition having stoppages at Cuttack, Adra, Gaya, Mughalsarai and Kanpur between Bhubaneswar and New Delhi.

AGARTALA: With the completion of survey for 15 KM railway track from Agartala to Akhaura in Bangladesh, the work for acquisition of land for laying the tracks would be started this year, official sources said on Friday.Following the two-day District Magistrate level meeting here, the Deputy Collector of Brahmanbaria in Bangladesh, Nur Mohammad Majumder and West Tripura district Magistrate Kiran Gitte jointly announced that survey for the track was completed and the process for land acquisition would be started this year.The two-day meeting concluded yesterday. The meeting decided that 373 border pillars which were partly or fully damaged would be repaired or constructed by the Public Works Department (PWD) of both the sides under the supervision of Border Security Force (BSF) and Border Guards of Bangladesh (BGB). Both sides expressed their satisfaction at the reduction of border crimes like cattle lifting, theft and dacoity and exchanged a list of criminals taking shelter in the two neighbouring countries and both agreed to initiate stringent legal actions against them.West Tripura District Superintendent of Police, Bijoy Nag, who also took part in the meeting, said that a list of 24 Indian criminals hiding in Bangladesh was handed over to them while the Bangladesh side gave a similar list of twenty criminals sheltering in the Indian side.

"We are united to take appropriate legal action against the criminals", said the Police Superintendent of Brahmanbaria, Mohammad Moniruzzaman.

The Bangladesh delegation expressed serious concern at the smuggling of contraband items like Ganja, cannabis and medicines like Phensidyle and Corex used in Bangladesh for addiction from the Indian side.

The Indian side assured them to contain the menace by increasing more surveillance on the border.

VADODARA: The Vadodara railway division of Western Railway is conducting a series of surprise ticket checking drives across the division.

On Friday, the division conducted a drive at Vadodara railway station wherein 246 cases of ticket less travel were detected and penalty to the tune of Rs 61,785 was collected. Along with this two penalty cases affecting cleanliness under section 198-C were also registered fetching earning of Rs 100 through the drive involving 21 ticket checking staff.

During the drive, one person named Ravi Shrivastava, 26, was apprehended and handed over to the GRP staff. Investigations revealed that Shrivastava, who is not a railway employee, was posing as a ticket checker.

Similarly, drives were conducted by the division in Bharuch-Surat section on June 27 and Vadodara-Bharuch-Surat-Vadodara section on June 28. During the drive on June 27, the division had detected 132 cases and collected penalty to the tune of Rs 40,720. Along with this nine penalty cases affecting cleanliness were registered fetching earning of Rs 650.

On June 28, 39 cases of ticketless travel were detected and penalty to the tune of Rs 46,010 was collected along with nine penalty cases affecting cleanliness. This drive conducted by 16 ticket checking staff had fetched earning of Rs 550 under section 198-C.

"Similar ticket checking drives have been planned in ensuing days. Passengers are requested to travel with proper ticket so that they are not penalized," senior divisional commercial manager Pradeep Banerjee said.

South Eastern Railway, during the first quarter of the current financial year, 2013-14 has made a spectacular jump in freight loading.During the first quarter i.e. from April to June of the current financial year (2013-14), South Eastern Railway has loaded 32.88 million tonnes of freight as against 30.33 million tonnes loaded during the corresponding period of last year, thus, registering a growth of 2.55 million tonnes i.e. 8.41%.Transportation of major commodities viz. Iron Ore, other raw materials to steel plants, Coal, Pig Iron & Finished steel, Cement, Food grains, Fertilizers, POL etc. is the main factor for this substantial improvement in freight loading during the 1st quarter.

Earnings from Freight Traffic
Consequent upon this remarkable performance in freight loading during 1st quarter of current financial year 2013-14, S.E.Railway has been able to generate earnings of Rs. 2402.63 crores as against Rs. 2337.21 crores earned during corresponding period of last financial year 2012-13, registering a growth of 2.8%.

The Railway Administration is going to start four special trains between Bhopal and Hoshangabad railway stations on July 8 for devotees to have holy dip in Narmada River on the occasion of Somvati Amavasya.Bhopal Railway Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Rajeev Chowdhury has issued orders for preparations and arrangements of facilities and security on the Bhopal and Hoshangabad railway stations.Senior Divisional Commercial Manager (SDCM) Brijendra Kumar said that first special train on July 8 will depart from Bhopal railway station at 3:50 am and will reach Hoshangabad at 5:30 am. The second train with train number 01633 will start from Hoshangabad station at 6:30 am and will reach Bhopal at 9 am.Kumar further said that the third fair special train with number 01632 will start from Bhopal at 6:25 pm and will reach Hoshangabad at 9 pm. The last special train with number 01631 will depart from Hoshangabad railway station at 10 pm and will reach Bhopal at 11:55 pm.Kumar said that all the special trains between Bhopal and Hoshangabad will halt at Habibganj, Misrod, Mandideep, Obadullahganj, Barkheda and Budni railway stations. Total 8 coaches will be present in the special trains including six general coaches and two SLR.

He said that on the occasion additional booking counters will be opened at Hoshangabad railway station, drinking water facility, and special announcement of the trains plying between Bhopal and Hoshangabad and additional security arrangements will be made.

Kumar further said that arrangements are being made to ensure that passengers and devotees do not face any trouble during the fair on Somvati Amavasya.

The schedule on display at railway station is in the process of being upgraded, creating inconvenience for travellers

Bathinda:
The passengers catching trains from the Bathinda junction are facing a peculiar problem these days. While some passengers have missed their trains in the past few days, others have been reaching the station much before the scheduled time of the train.The confusion among the passengers can be attributed to the time-table of the trains on display at the railway station. The schedule of a couple of trains has been changed since the routes of some of the trains passing through the junction have been extended.Nor have the trains started running on the extended routes neither have the revised timings been displayed at the station for the convenience of the passengers.The trains the route of which have been extended are the Shri Ganganagar-Haridwar, Rishikesh, Dilli-Bathinda, Shri Ganganagar-Bathinda, Chhindwara-Bathinda and the Dhuri-Bathinda trains.“We are yet to get the nod from the higher authorities regarding the extention of routes of these trains. In all probability, the trains will start travelling on their extended routes by the mid of this month,” said the station superintendent, Pradeep Sharma.He added that since the junction authorities had not got the permission for running the trains on the extended routes, the revised time-tables had not been displayed.“Changes in the timings of other trains will be revised soon on the display board. The painters are at work regarding the same. However, the revised time-table of the trains the routes of which have been extended will be display only once the trains start running on their designated routes,” he added.When asked about the confusion the changed schedule was causing to the passengers, he assured that it would last only for a few more days. “We are aiming to revise the time-table display in a day or two. The confusion is unavoidable. We are in the process of changing all the boards which display the train timings at the junction,” he said.Till then, the passengers will have to face the problem with advance information for the ernquiry office being the only way out.
