Broad Gauge section between Manamadurai and Virudhunagar commissioned

Flight service to Singapore and Dubai will be introduced from Madurai in six months, said Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation K.C. Venugopal here on Sunday.Commissioning the newly converted broad gauge section between Manamadurai and Virudhunagar here, he said that the Madurai airport runway had to be extended to at least 12,000 feet for operation of international flights. (As of now the Madurai airport runway has a length of about 7,500 feet only).Though sufficient land had been acquired by the State Government, some more had to be acquired and handed over to the Airports Authority of India (AAI) following a need to realign the highway that runs nearby.“The Centre was ready to extend all possible financial help. But right now there is shortage of manpower, including pilots. Efforts are under way to recruit the required manpower and the exercise will be over early next year,” the Union Minister said.Stating that that the broad gauge conversion work involving reconstruction of five major bridges, 145 minor bridges, five stations, including three crossing stations and 31 level crossings, was completed at a cost of Rs. 230 crore, Mr.Venugopal pointed out that the United Progressive Alliance Government I and II had contributed a lot for infrastructure development in various parts of the country.

B. Manickam Tagore, MP, said Aruppukottai should be made a junction and more amenities provided. Besides, railway authorities should ensure that more trains stop at Aruppukottai.

First train

Railway sources that Puducherry-Kanyakumari Special (train number 06861), to be flagged off by Union Minister of State for Railways K. Surya Prakash Reddy at Puducherry at 5.00 p.m. on Monday, would be the first train to cross this new section. It will reach Kanyakumari on Tuesday at 8.40 a.m.

Regular (weekly) service of this train from Puducherry will begin on Thursday and from Kanyakumari on Friday.

Hyderabad: People living near Hi-Tec City, Gachibowli and Madhapur have reason to cheer as those bound for Visakhapatnam or Mumbai will soon be able to board their trains at the Lingampalli railway station. Currently, travellers have to go all the way to the Secunderabad station to board the Gowthami or Godavari Express.
    As per the recently launched time table, South Central Railway (SCR) will be providing additional stoppage at Lingampally station for the soon-to-be launched Mumbai Lokamanya Tilak Terminus (LTT) -Visakhapatnam and Kakinada-LTT express trains. Apart from these, SCR will provide additional stoppages at Falaknuma and Malkajgiri to eight new trains announced in this year’s budget. The Jabalpur-Yeshwanthpur Express, Yeshwanthpur-Lucknow Express and Madras-Nagersol Express will be provided stoppage at Malkajigiri. This is expected to benefit people travelling south or north of the state.
    Presently, only 10 popular express trains passing through the city have been provided stoppages at Begumpet and Lingampalli. The intercity express between Secunderabad and Kurnool, which was flagged off recently, has been provided stoppage at Falaknuma. This is expected to benefit passengers from Old City travelling towards Rayalseema. Officials also feel that this would decongest the Secunderabad station.

AGARTALA: Fifteen-year-old Tripura schoolboy Parinaha Chakraborty has come up with an innovative way of using a windmill to generate electricity that can light up bulbs inside a moving train. Parinaha came up with the idea after travelling on a meter gauge train that did not have electricity, water or toilet facilities -- even though such trains cover distances upto 200 km, often at night. "The conventional energy mechanism is obsolete in these trains," says Parinaha, who travelled with his parents from Agartala to Dharmanagar on the northern end of Tripura last year sitting in one such train in pitch darkness.

That's when he started thinking how to improve the lighting. Last December, he hit upon the solution -- an incredibly simple and effective one -- that involves installing a windmill in front of the train. Using the speed of the train, the windmill produces mechanical energy which can easily be converted into electrical energy that can light up low voltage bulbs inside the train.

"Parinaha's idea can easily be put into practice in any train in any part of the country," says Jayanta Chowdhury, evaluator at the Tripura University Innovative Club which has accredited the idea as a grassroot innovation. "No Indian train moves at less than 60 kilometres per hour and if we install a small windmill right on the front engine, it could generate at least 12 volt of power in each hour that can meet the demand of conventional energy consumption on travel."

Meanwhile, the young innovator, who is a student of Class IX of Shiksha Niketan H S School in Agartala, has got a pat on the back for his innovation from none other than President Pranab Mukherjee who interacted with him during his visit to Tripura. Mukherjee had, after assuming office as President, asked central universities to establish innovation centres which would be breeding grounds for inventive ideas. According to Tripura University vice-chancellor A K Ghosh, their university's Innovative Club has achieved a lot of success, having accredited almost 60 grass root innovations like Parinaha's which are in the process of being registered under the IP Act. Some of the ideas include a method of extracting honey using a wood wheel, a hazardless mosquito repellent made from tulsi, neem and nishinda leaves as well as innovative usage of betel leaves in making bags, shoes and fancy souvenirs.

ट्रेन यात्रा शुरू करने से पहले

1. यात्रा के दौरान आप ज्यादा भारी सामानों की पैकिंग न करें। इससे आपको उठाने और ले जाने में परेशानी हो सकती है।

2. सुरक्षा के मानदंड़ों को दिमाग में रखते हुए आप अपनी यात्रा के मार्ग को निर्धारित करें। अधिक से अधिक कोशिश करें कि आपको ट्रेन बदलनी न पड़े।

3. जिस रेलवे स्टेशन पर आप उतरने वाले हैं वहां के आसपास के वातावरण से जरूर वाकिफ हो जाएं।

4. यदि आप लंबी रेल यात्रा को जा रहे हैं तो अपने सामान के लिए जंजीर वाले ताले जरूर रख लें। आप एक छोटा सा थैला भी खरीद सकते हैं जिसमें आप कैश, टिकट और अपना क्त्रेडिट कार्ड रख सकें।

5. रेल यात्रियों की सुरक्षा के लिए सरकार नियमित रूप से दिशा-निर्देश जारी करती है। आप उसका भी ध्यान जरूर रखें।

रेलवे स्टेशन पर

1. अधिकतर ट्रेन यात्रियों को स्टेशनों पर टारगेट बनाया जाता है। यहां उनका दलालों से लेकर हर तरह के चोरों से सामना होता है। यह चोर हर समय यात्रियों को लूटने के फिराक में रहते हैं। इसलिए आप अपने सामान और पैसों पर जरूर ध्यान दें।

2. यह सुनिश्चित कर लीजिए कि जो यात्रा संबंधित दस्तावेज आपके पास हैं वह सही जगह रखे हैं। क्योंकि टिकट खो जाने के बाद चोर आपको ज्यादा धोखा दे सकता है।

3. अगर आप किसी वजह से ज्यादा समय तक स्टेशन पर रुक रहे हैं तो आप ऐसी जगह तलाशिए जहां पर आपका सामान और आपका परिवार सुरक्षित रह सके।

4. अगर स्टेशन पर किसी स्टोर की सुविधा नहीं है तो आप अपने सामान को अपने पास रखिए ।

5. स्टेशन पर ऐसा देखा जाता है कि कुछ लोग किसी दूसरे प्लेटफॉर्म पर जाने के लिए ब्रिज और सीढि़यों का इस्तेमाल नहीं करते। आप ऐसा न करें।

6. प्लेटफॉर्म पर बीच-बीच में होने वाली घोषणाओं पर जरूर ध्यान दें क्योंकि अंतिम मिनट में भी आपके ट्रेन की घोषणा हो सकती है।

ट्रेन के अंदर

1. यात्रा करते समय सामान की सुरक्षा सबसे महत्वपूर्ण होती है। इसके लिए जरुरी है कि अपने सामान को अपनी सीट के नीचे चेन से बांध कर रखें।

2. किसी भी अनजान व्यक्ति से कोई भी चीज खाने या पीने की ना ग्रहण करें। आप पानी के लिए बॉटल का प्रयोग कर सकते हैं।

3. अगर आप ट्रेन में सो रहे हैं तो ध्यान दीजिए कि आपका सामान सही जगह पर लॉक है या नहीं।

4. अगर आप अकेले यात्रा कर रहे हैं तो आपकी प्राथमिकता ऊपरी या निचले बर्थ की होनी चाहिए जिससे आपको खिड़की की सीट भी मिल जाएगी और आपको ज्यादा लोग तंग भी नहीं करेंगे।

Government Railway Police, Vijayawada division, Superintendent of Police (SP) Ch. Syam Prasad Rao has said the crime rate has come down in railway stations and on moving trains, due to visible policing, in the last six months.Speaking at the half-yearly crime review meeting here on Monday, Mr. Prasad Rao said the property offences or cases of murder for gain have come down when compared to the half-yearly report of the last three years.However, two dacoity cases were reported and the police detected one case.He said instructions were given to the police to be alert during nights on moving trains and coordinate with the Travelling Ticket Examiners (TTEs) to prevent thefts and sought the cooperation of the public to check crime rate.Police Sub-Controls have been set up in Vijayawada and other railway stations for keeping a vigil on strangers, thieves, pick-pockets, and anti-social elements. Passengers can lodge complaints with the Sub-Controls without going to the police station, which would be located on platforms. Efforts are on to install more sub-controls, he said.

Guntakal division SP P. Muni Swamy, who is also in-charge for Secunderabad Division, said encouragement from South Central Railway (SCR) officials was good and asked the railway constables to provide a safe journey for passengers.

Earlier, Divisional Railway Manager Pradeep Kumar inaugurated the programme.

He said the Indian Railways was improving facilities in the stations. Mr. Pradeep Kumar praised the railway SP for introducing innovative methods to prevent crimes.

अजमेर। रेलवे बोर्ड ने इस साल ग्रुप डी के एक लाख पदों पर भर्ती प्रक्रिया को हरी झंडी दे दी है। रेलवे बोर्ड के कार्यवाहक अध्यक्ष (सीआरबी) अरुणेंद्र कुमार ने बताया कि भर्ती कैलेंडर तैयार किया जा रहा है। अरुणेंद्र कुमार सोमवार को अजमेर आए। उन्होंने रेलवे स्टेशन एवं कारखानों का निरीक्षण किया। 

रेलवे स्टेशन पर सीआरबी अरुणेंद्र कुमार ने पत्रकारों को बताया कि रेलवे में कर्मचारियों की कमी को देखते हुए सभी 16 जोन में करीब एक लाख ग्रुप डी की भर्ती की जाएगी। कैलेंडर ईयर में दिसंबर तक इस प्रक्रिया को पूरा कर लिया जाएगा। प्रत्येक जोन में 6250 पदों पर भर्ती होगी।

अजमेर जोन में सिग्नल, वर्कशॉप, लोको व कैरिज कारखाना, भंडार, इलेक्ट्रिक, अस्पताल, स्टेशन, ट्रैफिक, मंडल कार्यालय और लेखा कार्यालय में ग्रुप डी के रिक्त पदों पर भर्ती की जानी है। हालांकि इस भर्ती से अजमेर को कुछ खास फायदा नहीं होगा। अजमेर में उक्त विभागों को महज 625 पद ही मिल पाएंगे।
