Hon’ble Minister of Railways to Lay Foundation Stone for Rail Bridge Across Bennithora River on Bidar-Gulbarga New Railway Line

Shri Mallikarjun Kharge, Hon’ble Minister of Railways will lay  foundation stone for a Rail Bridge across Bennithora River o­n Bidar-Gulbarga new Railway line at 02 00 pm. o­n 23rd July, 2013 at a function to be held at Community Hall, Mahagaon, Gulbarga.


Hon’ble Public representatives, dignitaries and senior railway official will be present o­n the occasion.

NAGPUR: After nearly 60 hours of restoration work on war footing, one of the tracks near Sindi Railway was temporarily opened for traffic on Monday morning. Both main line tracks were damaged after the earthen foundation below it was washed away due to floods in Pipra nullah on Friday night.After severe damage to tracks in 500 metres, train movement stopped completely on east, west, north and south routes. Many trains were either cancelled or diverted through Badnera-Amravati-Narkhed and Bhusawal-Khandwa-Itarsi-Nagpur.Over 1,000 men and machines pressed into service since Friday night could temporarily help restore train traffic on down line (towards) Nagpur) Monday morning. According to Central Railway PRO P D Patil, the first train to cross the restored track was 12721 Hyderabad-Nizamuddin Dakshin Express around 9.15am. The train arrives at Nagpur at 9.15am, but was delayed by an hour.

"After Dakshin Express, around a dozen trains passed through the vulnerable spot at a speed of 10 kmph. These trains included four from Ballarshah, four from Itarsi and four from Badnera side," said Patil.

Divisional railway manager (DRM) Brijesh Dixit had said on Sunday that the track would be opened by that day evening but due to heavy damage, this could not be done. The track was declared fit by the engineering department at 5.30am on Monday and at 7.15am, electrical department declared overhead power lines fit.

As the trains were already moving along the diverted route and there was no passenger train in the section after the track was declared fit, two empty wagons were sent by the down track. Since then, no loaded rakes were being operated on the stretch.

"When such a disaster happens and tracks are restored, some unimportant trains are run on it for testing. The down line was found fit," said Patil. Around 9.15am, Dakshin Express was cleared followed by 12145 LTT-Bhubaneshwar Express at 10.30am. Till evening, at least 15 trains ran through Sindi Railway.

"It will be a temporary structure but won't be risky for trains passing at a 10-15 kmph speed. Rebuilding of permanent structure will take some time as it is monsoon," said railway officials.

Meanwhile, the Central Railway revised timing of Nagpur-Mumbai Duronto Express and Nagpur-Mumbai Sevagram Express that left Nagpur on Monday. The Duronto which leaves Nagpur at 8.40pm, departed at 12.40am and Sevagram, which leaves Nagpur at 9pm left at 1am. Both the trains will arrive Mumbai 3-4 hours late.

MALAPPURAM: Amid strong protests from Thirunnavaya residents, a four-member team of railways inspected the route of the proposed Guruvayur-Thirunnavaya rail line on Monday. The inspection was held as part of procedures to re-start survey of the line which was blocked by residents a year ago.The team headed by railways' executive engineer Chacko George managed to inspect the route from Choondikkal to Bandarkkadavu, though they were blocked by protesters at Thirunnavaya. Protesters claimed the project will harm thousands of acres of farmland in the region and demanded that the line be re-routed. They were removed by the police and a police team was also deployed in the region.Officials informed that the railways will go ahead with the survey the work of which would start from Guruvayur. Kole farmers in Ponnani have already come up against the rail line project.KA Jayanandan, secretary of Ponnani Kole Protection council, said farmers will block the officials if they visit the Kole fields.Survey for the line was first started in Thirunnavaya panchayat in 2010 but was stopped after strong local protests. Following the indefinite delay of survey process, railway officials convened a meeting in Ponnani in July 2011 to discuss re-routing the line. Residents also decried the revised route. The latest move to resume survey was started after a meeting of railway officials by district collector K Baiju last week.

The railways decided to go for the Tanur-Guruvayur rail line project, as a proposal, mooted in 1995, to connect Guruvayur with the Shoranur - Manglore stretch. But later the plan was changed to Kuttippuram-Guruvayur rail line. This too was dropped following strong opposition from locals.

After carrying out detailed studies and examining various alternatives for a line from Kuttippuram to Guruvayur, it was decided to connect Tanur to Guruvayur in 2004. But, following frequent protests from the people of Tanur, the railways decided to alter the rail line and connect Thirunnavaya with Guruvayur.

बरौनी से नई दिल्ली जाने वाली 12553 वैशाली एक्सप्रेस के 2 एसी कोच में महिला के सिर पर रॉड टूट कर गिरने से वह गंभीर रूप से घायल हो गई। यात्रियों ने महिला के उपचार के लिए कोच कंडेक्टर को शिकायत की। उपचार में विलंब होने पर जमकर हंगामा किया। इसके बाद कोच कंडेक्टर ने कंट्रोल रूम को सूचना दी। मुजफ्फरपुर जंक्शन पर ट्रेन आने के बाद डॉक्टर मनोज कांत गुप्ता ने घायल महिला का उपचार किया। इसके बाद महिला को नई दिल्ली भेजा गया।समस्तीपुर स्टेशन पर चढ़ी मिथिलेश देवी ने बताया कि कर्पूरीग्राम स्टेशन पास ऊपर से अचानक पर्दे का रॉड टूट कर सिर पर गिर गया, जिससे सिर फट गया। ट्रेन में डॉक्टर की कोई व्यवस्था नहीं थी। यात्रियों का कहना है कि ट्रेन का रख रखाव बेकार है। एसी में यात्रियों को कोई सुविधा नहीं मिल रही है। उक्त घटना के बाद से ऊपर वाली सीट के यात्री सहमे दिखे।

1. Train No. 12723 Hyderabad-New Delhi Andhra Pradesh Express, Scheduled to depart Hyderabad at 06 25 am. o­n 23rd July 2013, is rescheduled to depart at 11 25 hrs. o­n the same day, due to late running of its pairing train.

गोंदिया

गोंदियावरून चांदाफोर्टला जाणाऱ्या लोकलला रविवारी रात्री ९.५०दरम्यान वडसाजवळ अपघात झाला. यात गाडीचे तब्बल नऊ डबे रुळावरून खाली घसरले. त्यामुळे गोंदिया-चंद्रपूर हा मार्ग विस्कळीत झाला आहे. दुरुस्तीचे काम युद्ध पातळीवर सुरू असून मंगळवारी सायंकाळपासून हा मार्ग वाहतुकीसाठी पूर्ववत होण्याची शक्यता रेल्वे प्रशासनाने वर्तविली आहे.

या रेल्वे अपघातात कुठलीही जीवितहानी झाली नाही. रेल्वे रुळ तुटल्यामुळे हा अपघात झाल्याचा प्राथमिक अंदाज वर्तविला जात आहे. सोमवारी गोंदिया स्थानकावरून सुटणाऱ्या तब्बल चार गाड्या रद्द करण्यात आल्या आहेत. त्यामुळे या मार्गावरील प्रवाशांचे हाल झाले. मार्ग सुरळीत करण्याचे काम युद्ध पातळीवर सुरू आहेत. मंगळवारी सायंकाळपासून हा मार्ग पूर्ववत सुरू होण्याची शक्यता रेल्वे अधिकाऱ्यांनी वर्तविली आहे.

Those who boarded sleeper coaches with season tickets made to pay fine

Commuters blocked the Kanyakumari Express from Mumbai for more than an hour and a half at the Paravur station on Monday morning as a ticket-checking squad prevented them from boarding the sleeper coaches of the train with season tickets.The squad, backed by the railway police, made those who had boarded those coaches in Kollam with season tickets pay a fine of Rs. 263 each.With the protest, the Intercity Express was held up at Mayyanad and the Vanchinad Express in Kollam.The commuters said the Kanyakumari Express made an unscheduled halt at Mayyanad, which is between Kollam and Paravur, to let the squad and the police in.They complained that the train had only one unreserved compartment, though the commuters numbered a few hundreds and the sleeper coaches had many vacant seats. Most of them had to go to offices or educational institutions in Thiruvananthapuram.They raised slogans and sat on the track, preventing the train from leaving. With the commuters from Kollam joining the blockade, a demonstration against Railways began soon.The protesters said they had for long been demanding permission to travel on at least five coaches from Kollam to Thiruvananthapuram and had petitioned the railway authorities.

Police intervention

The local people joined the protest soon, but officials did not turn up for talks. A team from the Paravur police station intervened, and the protesters agreed to disperse.But a railway official tried to videotape the protesters, sparking off tension again, with some commuters almost coming to blows with railway personnel on the platform. The police employed force to chase them away.After the train reached Thiruvananthapuram, news spread that 16 commuters from Paravur were arrested for violence. Tension erupted again at Paravur, but reports came in that they were released on executing a bond.

Amritsar:
Even as the Indian Railways has started providing 20 wagons a week in the bi-weekly Samjhauta Express to exporters, it is yet to extend them wagons in goods train as well for facilitating exports to Pakistan.Rajesh Setia, general secretary, Amritsar Exporters Chamber of Commerce, said they were still not getting wagons in goods trains as promised by the Railways. He said they were getting only 10 to 15 Pakistani wagons in goods trains every week depending upon their arrival from the neighbouring country. He said this had solved their problem only up to 30 per cent."A huge stock of goods is still stuck in godowns at the rail cargo facility here while the exporters are forced to hold back further supply of goods." He said the inflow of wagons from Pakistan was also less as the imports were low owing to rupee devaluation.

Setia said since the cement import had been shifted to the road route, it had further hit the inflow of Pakistani wagons into India. The cement importers had shifted their trade to the road route following repeated seizures of heroin in the rail cargo in the recent past, he said, adding they were primarily exporting polymers, chemicals, spices and herbs to Pakistan. Manav Taneja, a clearing agent, said the shortage of rail wagons would trouble the exporters more in coming days as export season of items like soyabean, tyres and tubes would pick up in August.

Earlier, at a meeting between exporters and Shelly Srivastava, Deputy Chief Commercial Manager, Railways, the latter said 10 cargo wagons would be regularly attached with the Samjhauta Express so as to clear the backlog of export consignments that had piled up at the rail cargo facility in Amritsar. She had also assured them that the Railways would try to facilitate wagons in goods trains as well.

On one hand, railway officials assure people’s representatives of adding extra coaches to trains which have a high demand for berths but on the other they are withdrawing coaches.The 212801/22802 Visakhapatnam-Shirdi Sai Nagar slip coaches running by train no. 17479 Puri-Tirupati Express/17206 Kakinada Town-Shirdi Sai Nagar Express will be withdrawn from July 26 and the 212801/22802 slip coaches running by 17481 Bilaspur-Tirupati Express/17206 Kakinada Town-Shirdi Sai Nagar Express from July 30.The 22802/212801 Shirdi Sai Nagar-Visakhapatnam slip coaches running by 17205 Shirdi Sai Nagar-Kakinada Town Express/17480 Tirupati-Puri Express will be withdrawn from July 28.

Blow to passengers

While the South Central Railway has facilitated augmentation of coaches by 17205/17206 from Kakinada to Sai Nagar in the future, the 212801/22802 Visakhapatnam-Shirdi Sainagar weekly has the same quota from Visakhapatnam and non-augmentation deprives passengers of berths from Visakhapatnam.

Though SCR had also withdrawn the slip coaches to Manuguru by the Secunderabad-Machilipatnam train from July 1, it has increased the frequency of the Secunderabad-Manuguru train from three days to daily.

The 212801/22802 weekly was inaugurated as a regular train by Union Minister D. Purandeswari in the presence of Union Minister of State for Railways Kotla Surya Prakasa Reddy here on December 15 last year.

High occupancy

The same train was run as a bi-weekly special since May 2009 and subsequently its frequency was reduced to once a week by giving away one trip for operation of the Bhubaneswar-Sai Nagar weekly.

During the inaugural function, Ms. Purandeswari sought running of the Visakhapatnam-Sai Nagar special as a daily as it had a high occupancy of more than 110 per cent. But the frequency of the train was not increased by the railways in this year’s budget.

To make matters worse, the withdrawal of slip coaches to Shirdi will result in further increase in the waiting list and non-availability of berths on Visakhapatnam-Sai Nagar Express from July 26.

Railway sources feel that E Co R had failed to protect the interests of Waltair Division during the IRTTC meeting as it did not oppose the withdrawal of coaches. The removal of slip coaches is likely to increase the woes of passengers.
