गोंडा। बिना लाइन क्लियर हुए सिग्नल की अनदेखी कर चालक ने मालगाड़ी को आगे बढ़ा दिया और गोंडा कचहरी रेलवे स्टेशन पर खड़ा कर दिया। इसी के ठीक पीछे उसी ट्रैक पर आम्रपाली एक्सप्रेस ट्रेन भी आ रही थी। इसकी जानकारी मिलते ही अफसरों ने आम्रपाली एक्सप्रेस ट्रेन को मैजापुर रेलवे स्टेशन पर खड़ा करा दिया। इससे एक बड़ा हादसा टल गया। उधर, डीआरएम ने मालगाड़ी के चालक को तत्काल प्रभाव से निलंबित कर दिया है। साथ ही मामले की जांच के लिए मंडलीय रेल अधिकारियों की तीन सदस्यीय कमेटी गठित की है।
सीतापुर से गोरखपुर जा रही होजरी मालगाड़ी (संख्या 14936) शनिवार सुबह 3.45 बजे गोंडा कचहरी रेलवे स्टेशन के पास पहुंची। चालक ने लाइन क्लियर न होने के बावजूद सिग्नल की अनदेखी कर मालगाड़ी आगे बढ़ा दी और गोंडा कचहरी रेलवे स्टेशन पर लाकर खड़ी कर दी। मालगाड़ी के पीछे उसी ट्रैक पर आम्रपाली एक्सप्रेस ट्रेन भी आ रही थी। इसकी जानकारी रेल अधिकारियों को हुई तो उन्होंने आनन-फानन में ट्रेन को मैजापुर रेलवे स्टेशन पर खड़ा करा दिया। ट्रेन को आधे घंटे बाद दूसरे ट्रैक से गोंडा के लिए रवाना किया गया। उधर, मालगाड़ी के चालक व गार्ड के खून की जांच की गई और तत्काल मामले से उच्चाधिकारियों को अवगत कराया गया। सुबह सात बजे मालगाड़ी को आगे के लिए रवाना किया गया। डीआरएम विनोद कुमार यादव ने बताया कि मालगाड़ी के चालक हरिओम वर्मा को तत्काल प्रभाव से निलंबित कर दिया गया है। जांच के लिए मंडलीय रेल अधिकारियों की तीन सदस्यीय कमेटी गठित की गई है।

Lucknow: In a bid to ensure the safety of the railway passengers, the Uttar Pradesh Police is gearing up to install CCTV cameras in few special trains passing through Uttar Pradesh. The effort is initiated to lower down the criminal offense which occurs inside the trains.

“There is a proposal to install CCTV cameras in AC as well as general coaches of special trains for video recording,” says by the Director General of Police (DG) Railway Rizwan Ahmad.

We are also planning to install CCTV cameras at all important and over-crowded railway stations and all the SP’s of the Government Railway Police have been directed to take the assistance of authorities.

Under the ‘Vision Scheme’, CCTV cameras have been installed in Lucknow and Moradabad considering them as important and crowded stations and will be monitored by the section headquarters.

In his directives, he said that all the CCTV cameras installed must work properly.

The DG said they are also planning to paste stickers of phone numbers of GRP railway stations on the route in all coaches of trains passing through UP. So the persons in need can get help by calling the police. Similarly, railway control room numbers are also planned to be pasted.

Rizwan Ahmad has given instructions to the GRP that all the attendants and vendors verification must be checked and efficient action must be taken against the one found with unauthorized papers.

When the platforms are crowded and the incoming trains are halted at outer signals during dark, the possibility of crime increases and hence high-mast lights should be installed and more GRP personnel should be deployed.

HUBLI: South Western Railway has provided temporary stoppages at various stations for different trains in Bangalore division which have been extended up to December 31.

Train number 12027 Chennai-Bangalore City Shatabdi Express and 12028 Bangalore City-Chennai Shatabdi Express will continue providing temporary stoppage at Bangalore Cantonment. 16232 Mysore-Mayiladuturai Daily Express, 16231Mayiladuturai-Mysore Daily Express, 6517/16523 Yeshwantpur-Kannur/Karwar Express and 16518/16524 Kannur/Karwar-Yeshwantpur Express provide stoppage at Kengeri.

Two major projects announced for Mysore in the Railway budget years ago have yet to materialise, much to stakeholders’ chagrin: a Railway Medical College in the 2009–10 Railway budget and a multifunctional complex (MFC), announced in the same year.

But four years after that announcement, there is no word on the Railway Medical College. While the civil works of the MFC was completed a year ago, the complex has not been put to use.

The then Minister of State for Railways K.H. Muniyappa had affirmed that the RMC would not be relocated from Mysore; additional land would be acquired to put the project on the fast track. But nothing has been done so far.

Land is the crux of the issue and though the Railways have about 18 acres of land, the Medical Council of India guidelines stipulate that establishing such a medical college requires a 25-acre plot of land at least.

General secretary of the Mysore Industries Association Suresh Kumar Jain pointed out that the Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board (KIADB) had adequate land for this purpose.“This is reckoned to be the best opportunity to make the right move, because the Railway Minister is from Karnataka and the State has a Congress government.

Any deal in this regard should be struck now and land transfer should take place within the next few months or it will be too late, in view of the impending Parliamentary polls,” said Mr. Jain.

The Railway Medical College and Hospital is meant for railway employees' children who wish to pursue medical education courses. The project is to be taken up on public-private participation, but a section of railway officials said there was no clarity on the project.

The MFC is meant to shore up infrastructure and amenities for rail passengers. The complex will house a food court and plaza, cyber café, pharmacy, ATMs, waiting hall, and retiring room, among other facilities, all under one roof

There are conflicting opinions on the fate of Mysore’s MFC.

One source said that the agency for implementing the project was fixed, while another stated that the bidder backed out as the non-refundable deposit amount was Rs. 75 lakh, and the lease period less than 10 years.

Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Sunday announced that the State Government would share 50 per cent of the Rs. 2515 crore required for the implementation of three railway line projects announced in the last Railways budget.

According to an official release here, Mr. Hooda made the announcement while addressing a rally at Hansi where he responded to a suggestion made by Union Railways Minister Mallikarjun Kharge at the same venue that the three important projects to construct rail lines would be taken up on a priority basis provided the State Government agreed to bear half the cost.

The rally was organised to mark the foundation stone laying ceremony of Hansi-Meham-Rohtak rail line and four-laning of Hisar-Hansi-Meham-Rohtak section of National Highway No. 10. Mr Hooda's announcement cleared the early beginning of Delhi-Sohna-Nuh-Ferozpur Jhirka-Alwar, Hisar-Agroha-Fatehabad-Sirsa and Yamunanagar-Sadhora-Naraingarh-Chandigarh rail lines that would run 104 km, 93 km and 91 km respectively.

While Mr. Kharge appreciated the State Government’s initiative of contributing 50 per cent share, he assured personal intervention for expeditious planning and implementation of these rail projects. Responding to a demand by MP, Deepender Singh Hooda, the minister also announced that Delhi-Ludhiana Shatabdi would run on all seven days of the week and would also halt at Jind.

Heeding to another request by the MP from Sirsa, Ashok Tanwar, the Union Surface Transport minister, Oscar Fernandes announced to sanction a railway over-bridge at Dabwali that would cost 37 crore.

The Chief Minister in his address said that the three rail line projects were long pending demands of the State. He even recalled raising the issue in Parliament in 1991, when he was an MP from the State. He said that the projects would not only reduce the travel time to and from Delhi, they would usher in a new era of development in the concerned districts.

Mr. Hooda said that during the last eight years when he was at the helm, the State government had constructed 32 RoBs, while work on another 37 was in progress. He recalled that only 16 RoBs were constructed in Haryana during the previous 40 years, while not a single inch of rail line was laid during the INLD-BJP regimes.

New Delhi: Waiting for a train to arrive will no longer be boring as Railways is equipping India's busiest station with free Wi-Fi connectivity, a first in the country, to ensure value-added amenity for passengers.New Delhi railway station, which handles about 300 trains and five lakh passengers a day, will be the first Wi-Fi enabled station in the country to have such a modern facility like major international airports."A Mumbai-based company has been given the job to make the New Delhi station a Wi-Fi enabled station," a senior Railway Ministry official said, adding "the company was selected through tender."

Wi-Fi is a popular networking technology which uses radio waves to provide wireless high-speed Internet and network connections. Once operational, passengers on all 16 platforms of the station will be able to access Wi-Fi from their laptops of mobile phones, the official said.

The New Delhi station was chosen on a pilot basis to introduce the facility at an estimated cost of Rs 80 lakh.

"The system is expected to be operational in 3/4 months," the official said. The company will install towers at strategic locations to provide the facility, which will be extended to other stations in due course, he said. Railways has already made Howrah Rajdhani trains Wi-Fi enabled. There are also plans to replace information kiosks with tablet computers at New Delhi station.

"We are exploring to mount tablets on walls at certain places in the station for the benefit of passengers. The tablets will be equipped to disseminate information about the train position, expected arrival time and other relevant data required by the passenger," the official said.

LUDHIANA: There is good news for Ludhianvistravelling frequently to Delhi by Shatabdi Express. The railway minister MallikarjunKharge has announced in Rohtak on Sunday that the Shatabdi train between Ludhiana and Delhi will now run seven days a week. The express train will also have a stoppage at Jind in Haryana, the Union minister told mediapersons there. Kharge was in Rohtak to lay the foundation for the Rs181croreRohtak railway bypass line. Says R K Sharma, Station Superintendent at the city railway station: "As of now, the Ludhiana Shatabdi runs on Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday. On two days, Monday and Saturday, it runs to and from Moga, whereas on Tuesday and Friday, the train plies between the city and Delhi. Now that the railway minister has announced that the train will run on all seven days, it is good news for city residents who travel by Shatabdi."

Meanwhile, residents who frequently travel by Ludhiana Shatabdi are happy over the announcement of the railway minister on the train being made daily.

Says Pradeep Dhall, a real estate advisor of Vikas Nagar: "It is great news for all Ludhianvis, as it will increase the option for travelling to Delhi in Shatabdi on all seven days. It will especially help the business community who face problems due to the inadequate number of fast trains between the city and Delhi."
