Kochi: In the wake of the recent protests by season ticket holders over their right to travel in sleeper class coaches, the Railways has now come out with a clarification that certain day-trains running during the peak hours have been identified in which they would be allowed to travel between certain sections.

“The Railways receive many complaints regarding unauthorized occupation of reserved accommodation by commuters. Even the High Court had passed orders to regulate the entry of commuters in reserved coaches”, said the railway PRO.

“The said train witnesses heavy rush on every working day and we’d allotted two reserved coaches for season ticket travellers.

Now we have increased them to four coaches. We’ve also identified at least eight day trains in which they can travel”, the official said.

The trains are Hyderabad-bound Sabari Express (S-12 and S-13), Trivandrum-Mangalore Malabar Express (S-6 upto Kottayam), Mangalore-Trivandrum Malabar Express (S-5 & S-6 from Kottayam to Trivandrum), Alleppey-Chennai Express (S-7 Alleppey-Palghat), Trivandrum-Chennai superfast (S-10 & S-11 till Ernakulam) and the Alleppey-Bokaro Express (S-2 & 4; ST 1&3 Alleppey-Palghat).

This is in addition to the two fully unreserved trains – the 16303 Ernakulam - Trivandrum Vanchinad Express and 16341 Guruvayoor - Trivandrum Intercity Express which arrives at Trivandrum before 10 am.

Sirsa MP Ashok Tanwar’s wife Avantika Maken Tanwar today flagged off the Sirsa-Hisar-Ludhiana train from Sirsa railway station. The Railways had announced to regularise the train from today. Running between Hisar and Ludhiana earlier, the train was extended up to Sirsa for a trial run two months ago. Avantika said during his meeting with Railway Minister Mallikarjun Khadge in Delhi, Ashok Tanwar had demanded that this train be run regularly and Khadge had accepted the demand.Bhupesh Mehta, Sirsa urban unit president of the Congress, was also present on the occasion. Avantika offered sweets to the driver, guard and other staff members of the train.The train will halt on both ways at Jakhod Kheda, Mandi Adampur, Bhathu, Ding, Suchan Kotli and Bajekan stations. The special train would have seven compartments, including six of general category and one for the guards.Various social, religious and political organisations of Sirsa have expressed their gratitude for running the train on a regular basis.

Mangalore : Railway officials from Palakkad and Mysore divisions, MCC officials and several representatives from other departments participated in the railway grievance redressal meeting chaired by MP Nalin Kumar Kateel at Circuit House here on Monday July 29.Regarding the demand to open the old level-crossing road near APMC from Baikampady industrial area, a railway official said due to various accidents being reported on the railway crossing, the railway board has banned level-crossing in view of safety. About the construction of railway overbridge (ROB) at Baikampady, he said it will be completed in the next 2 years.The construction of a railway underbridge (RUB) at Bajal level-crossing will be undertaken at a cost of Rs 4.96 crore, with the government and the MCC each putting in 50 percent of the share. The government has already sanctioned Rs 2.66 crore and out of the remaining amount to be paid MCC, Rs 19.39 lac is yet to be remitted, said a railway official from Palakkad.The soil testing work is in progress at the place earmarked for the construction of railway underbridge, after which further work will be undertaken, the official said. In reply to this, MP Nalin Kumar asked the official to fix a date for laying the foundation.In view of the increase in the number of people residing in Jeppu Mahakali Padpu and Jeppu Kudpadi areas, the demand for both ROB and RUB was made. The construction work at Jeppu Mahakali Padpu being borne by the government has encroachment issue. In case of Jeppu Kudpadi, the deposit amount has not been remitted by MCC, for which Nalin Kumar asked the official concerned to take a decision soon.

World class facilities at Mangalore Central station

Briefing about the proposed plan of upgrading the Mangalore Central station to international standards, an official said the project is being carried out by public-private partnership and the consultancy work has been handed over to Kerala Industrial and Technical Consultancy Organization (KITCO) which will identify the private firm for partnership.

The railway official also showed the site analysis report of the plan to the MP.

Before finalizing the plan, the KITCO official will make a presentation before the officials, he added.

Construction of the 4th and 5th platform at Mangalore Central station

As per the demands of the people, the 4th and 5th platform at Mangalore Central station will be build at a cost of Rs 16.19 crore, including construction high-level platform at Rs 2.55 crore, compound wall at Rs 27 lac, proposed pit line at Rs 2.7 crore, signal arrangement at Rs 55 lac and several others.

In addition, issues related to cleaning/maintenance and parking system at the station were also discussed in the meeting.

Nalin Kumar also asked the RTO and KSRTC officials to soon make arrangements for city bus permit to start KSRTC bus at Kankanady railway station (MJN).

In reply to the demand of extending CST-Mangalore superfast train up to Mangalore Central, a railway official said it was not possible to extend the train facility due to space constraints at the station, as three trains namely the Kurla Express, Chennai Express, and Trivandrum Express arrive at a similar time.

About the the Adarsha station plan for Kabaka Puttur station which comes under Mysore division, an official said the first phase of work at a cost of Rs 45 lac is in progress and will be completed by February 2014. The station building also faces problem of water leakage for which provision has not been made in this phase, he said.

For the renovation work at Subramanya station, an official from Mysore division said repair work worth Rs 14 lac is in progress which will be completed by February 2014.

Punjab Governor Shiv Raj Patil has invited a delegation of the NGO, "Jago Nawanshahr, Jago Society", to apprise him of their demand of extending rail services and has
also taken up the issue with the Union Minister of Railways.The NGO has launched a signature campaign for mobilising the public, panchayats, social and political leaders for raising the demand of starting direct rail services from Nawanshahr to Amritsar, restarting rail services from Nawanshahr to Jalandhar, which were suspended during the time of militancy.It is also seeking extension of Garhshanker-Anandpur Sahib-Ropar-Chandigarh rail link for the convenience of the public and also for the industrial growth of the area besides extending the link between Rahon to Ludhiana.The Society has got signatures of more than 10,000 people. It has also submitted memorandums to Members of Parliament, MLAs, Railway Minister and the Chief Northern Divisional Manager, Ferozepur.

A delegation of the NGO, including Nirmal Singh Rehal, Jaswant Singh Bhatti, Gurvinder Singh, Vasdev Pardesi, Vivek Kumra, Balraj Singh, had recently submitted a memorandum to Punjab Governor Shiv Raj Patil at Punjab Raj Bhawan, Chandigarh.

भागलपुर : भागलपुर रेलवे स्टेशन से खुलने वाली एक्सप्रेस ट्रेनों में यात्रियों की बढ़ती संख्या को देखते हुए मालदा डिवीजन के डीआरएम रवींद्र गुप्ता ने स्लीपर बोगी बढ़ाने को लेकर रेल मंत्रालय को पत्र लिखा था, जिसे मंत्रालय ने हरी झंडी दे दी है. इस महीने भागलपुर को 10 स्लीपर बोगी मिल जायेगी. बोगी के आने से यहां से खुलने वाली एक्सप्रेस ट्रेनों में यात्री की संख्या के अनुसार बोगी लगायी जायेगी.

यह बोगी स्थायी रूप से विभिन्न एक्सप्रेस ट्रेनों में लगेगी. नयी बोगी के आने से यात्रियों की परेशानी कम होगी. नयी बोगी जिसएक्सप्रेस ट्रेनों में लगेगी उसी के अनुसार आरक्षित सीटों की संख्या बढ़ेगी. इस महीने से एक्सप्रेस ट्रेनों में बोगी लगनी शुरू हो जायेगी. पहली बार मंत्रालय से एक साथ इतनी बोगी की स्वीकृति मिली है. सूरत, बेंगलुरु सहित अन्य राज्यों की यात्र करने वाले को अभी तक आरक्षित टिकट मिलने में काफी परेशानी होती थी.

* विभिन्न ट्रेनों में आठ बोगी सामान्य श्रेणी के लगेंगे

श्रवणी मेले में भागलपुर आने वाली विभिन्न एक्सप्रेस व लोकल ट्रेनों में कांवरियों की संख्या को देखते हुए इस महीने से ही आठ बोगी भागलपुर से खुलने वाली सामान्य श्रेणी के ट्रेनों में लगेगी.

भोपाल और इटारसी रेलवे स्टेशन पर यात्री हित में खान-पान सहित अन्य स्टॉलों का संचालन किया जा रहा है। इन स्टॉलों को अचानक बंद नहीं किया जा सकता। इससे यात्रियों को समस्या आ सकती है। इसलिए जल्द टेंडर प्रक्रिया कर स्टॉलों का संचालन व्यवस्थित तरीके से करवाया जाएगा।

दोनों ही स्टेशनों पर बिना टेंडर प्रक्रिया के कई स्टॉलों के संचालन का मामला सामने आने पर रेलवे प्रशासन ने नई टेंडर प्रक्रिया के लिए जानकारी निकालना शुरू कर दिया है। पश्चिम-मध्य रेलवे के मुख्य जनसंपर्क अधिकारी पीयूष माथुर का कहना है कि हमारे केंद्र में यात्री हित होता है। इसलिए अचानक कोई स्टॉल बंद न कर उसके संचालकों को कुछ दिन की मोहलत दे दी जाती है। इसके बाद टेंडर प्रक्रिया पूरी कर संबंधित स्टॉलों का संचालन नए सिरे से शुरू करवा दिया जाता है।

नेस्ले के स्टॉल ज्यादा: दोनों ही स्टेशनों पर नेस्ले कंपनी के ऑटोमेटिक वेंडिंग मशीन वाले स्टॉल की संख्या सबसे ज्यादा है। स्टालों के संचालक विष्णु पांडे का कहना है कि हम रेलवे की अनुमति से ही स्टॉल चला रहे हैं। नई टेंडर प्रक्रिया में यदि हमारे प्रस्ताव मान्य हुए तो हम स्टॉलों का संचालन जारी रखेंगे।

वी-नेचुरल का मामला उलझा: इस मामले में वॉलन नेचुरल कंपनी के उत्पादों का मामला फिलहाल रेलवे प्रशासन की समझ से भी परे नजर आ रहा है। बताया जाता है कि कंपनी ने रेलवे स्टेशनों पर अपने उत्पाद बेचना बंद कर दिए हैं। इसके बाद भी उनके लाइसेंसी वेंडर कंपनी के बोर्ड का गलत तरीके से इस्तेमाल कर रहे हैं।

Thousands of passengers were stranded Monday at overcrowded stations and in crawling trains as a nearly two-hour-long technical fault hit Delhi Metro's Blue line between Dwarka and Noida City Centre/Vaishali terminals, an official said.By the time the snag was rectified, two hours after the problem occurred, large crowds piled up at platforms all along the busy route that links Dwarka in west Delhi to Noida and Vaishali in Uttar Pradesh.During the trouble, the frequency of trains dipped and most trains halted for up to 10 minutes at stations along the route, complained commuters, adding that slow trains coming after long intervals led to crowds piling up at all stations, especially between Dwarka and Rajiv Chowk.The snag was detected around 1.30 p.m. and set right at 3.12 p.m., an official of the Delhi Metro said."Metro services of Line 3 (Dwarka-Noida City Centre) and Line 4 (from Yamuna Bank to Vaishali) were running slow following a technical problem in the overhead electrification, which transmits energy to trains, on the Dwarka stretch at Shadipur and Patel Nagar," a Delhi Metro official said.The overhead electrification snag not only slowed traction but also resulted in the airconditioning system of the trains being switched off. This made life in the jampacked coaches "a sweltering hell", a breathless commuter said.

The crowd was menacingly thick at Rajiv Chowk, the busiest Delhi Metro interchange station through which the Blue line passes.

"This was too much," said an exhausted Digambar Sharma, who boarded a packed train at Rajiv Chowk. "The compartment I was in was crammed as everyone wanted to get into the train."

Trains also stopped for 5-10 minutes on the route on numerous occasions, said Devansh, a student travelling from Rajiv Chowk to Noida.

"It took me one hour from 1.30 p.m. to reach Noida Sector 16, a distance which usually takes just 30 minutes," he said.

Normally, a train plies every three minutes between Dwarka and Yamuna Bank. From there, alternate trains go to either Vaishali or Noida City Centre.

A Metro official said regular announcements were made at all stations and in trains about the delay due to the technical problem.

But commuters felt that mere announcements served no purpose and the Delhi Metro needed to have a quicker response system to address such "technical problems".

"As the Delhi Metro network spreads further and footfalls increase, problems are bound to occur more frequently on the system that is now ten years old. DMRC needs to restore disrupted services much quicker than it is doing at present," said Deepak Kumar, who took three hours to travel from Dwarka Sector 12 to Noida Sector 16 -- a journey that normally takes 75 minutes.

The 49-km Blue line covers 43 stations in some of the most populous parts of the capital and is the longest Delhi Metro route.

जागरण ब्यूरो, लखनऊ : ट्रेनों में बढ़ते अपराधों पर अंकुश लगाने के लिए राजकीय रेलवे पुलिस हर दिन नई-नई योजनाएं बना रही है। दैनिक यात्रियों को विशेष पुलिस अधिकारी बनाने के फैसले के बाद अब कुछ खास ट्रेनों के वातानुकूलित और सामान्य कोच की वीडियोग्राफी की योजना बनाई गई है। सभी महत्वपूर्ण और भीड़भाड़ वाले रेलवे स्टेशनों पर सीसीटीवी कैमरे लगाए जाने की भी योजना है। 1रविवार को पुलिस महानिदेशक रेलवे रिजवान अहमद ने इन कार्यो में रेलवे के अधिकारियों का सहयोग लेने के निर्देश दिए हैं। जहां यह कैमरे पहले से लगाए गए हैं, वहां उन्हें प्रत्येक दशा में चालू रखने के निर्देश दिए गए हैं। जीआरपी के मुरादाबाद और लखनऊ अनुभाग में दृष्टि योजना के अंतर्गत महत्वपूर्ण स्टेशनों पर सीसीटीवी कैमरे लगवाए गए हैं, जिसकी मॉनीटरिंग सेक्शन मुख्यालय से की जा रही है। रिजवान ने बताया कि उत्तर प्रदेश से गुजरने वाले सभी ट्रेनों के सभी कोचों के ट्रेन के रूट के ठहराव वाले स्टेशनों के जीआरपी थानों के फोन नंबरों के स्टीकर लगाए जाने के साथ ही रेलवे के सभी वेंडरों व अटेंडेंट का सत्यापन कर अनधिकृत वेंडरों के विरुद्ध प्रभावी कार्रवाई के निर्देश दिए गए हैं। स्टेशन परिसर में प्रवेश करने वाले अनधिकृत रास्ते बंद होंगे। 1पुलिस महानिदेशक रेलवे ने बताया कि प्लेटफार्म खाली न होने पर आने वाली दूसरी ट्रेनों को आउटर सिग्नल पर जब अंधकार में खड़ा किया जाता है तो ऐसे समय अपराध की आशंका बनी रहती है। ऐसी जगहों पर हाईमास्ट लाइट लगाने के निर्देश दिए गए हैं।
