LUCKNOW: Lucknow Development Authority is constructing the office for Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation in Janpath area. Earlier, there were offices of Ganga Cell, Urban Development department and electricity department of LDA in this area. Office of Ganga Cell would be shifted to the guest house of Jal Nigam in Mall Avenue. Located in proximity to Awas Bandhu office, six separate cabins are being made in LMRC's office. It would also have a common hall. Separate cabins are being made for project research and computer section of this project. Officials from LDA told that before August 15, the new office of metro cell in Janpath would start functioning. A metro cell official told that the office would be beautifully made so that people may realize that the metro and its stations would be made equally beautiful. The designing of the office has been done in accordance with the consent of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, which has prepared the final DPR (detailed project report) for metro project. |

ISAKHAPATNAM: Officials of the Waltair division of East Coast Railways (ECoR) conducted a massive surprise check at Vizianagaram railway station to catch ticketless passengers on Monday.This follows a report highlighting the absence of such drives due to staff crunch in the division, in TOI a week ago. During the nine-hour check, the officials found that many school and college students were travelling without proper tickets, including time-barred season tickets. "Keeping in view their future, we counselled them on the spot on the consequences of violating rules," a senior railway officer said. |

MARGAO: Konkan Railway will introduce a special DMU train between Margao-Karwar-Margao route with effect from August 1.The train will run on other days except Sundays until further notice, says a press note issued by the Konkan Railway corporation.Train No. 07103 Margao to Karwar will depart from Margao at 11.50am and arrive at Karwar at 1.35pm, while train no. 07104 Karwar to Margao will leave Karwar at 2.50pm and reach Margao at 4.10pm.The train will halt at Balli, Canacona, Loliem, and Asnoti stations. MUMBAI: The Bombay HC on Monday directed the Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Railway Hospital in Byculla to examine a train accident victim to see if further treatment can be given to her, including fitting her with a prosthetic limb. It has directed that a report to be submitted to it.A bench of Justice V M Kanade and Justice K R Shriram heard a petition by Bhiwandi resident Bhavika Mehta (23), who lost her left leg after a scuffle with a thief during her journey from Amritsar to Mumbai on June 5, 2012. Bhavika had moved court with her father and brother, urging direction to the railways to treat her at the railway hospital. |
