MUMBAI: The Bombay HC on Monday directed the Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Railway Hospital in Byculla to examine a train accident victim to see if further treatment can be given to her, including fitting her with a prosthetic limb. It has directed that a report to be submitted to it.A bench of Justice V M Kanade and Justice K R Shriram heard a petition by Bhiwandi resident Bhavika Mehta (23), who lost her left leg after a scuffle with a thief during her journey from Amritsar to Mumbai on June 5, 2012. Bhavika had moved court with her father and brother, urging direction to the railways to treat her at the railway hospital.

Around 1.45am on June 5, a thief on board the Amritsar Express allegedly snatched her purse from under her head while she slept. She woke up and grabbed one end of the purse and chased the thief. He jumped off the train, dragging Bhavika along. Her left leg came under the train. Her father and brother also jumped to save her and were injured. "Her advocate Deval Anja said there were no railway police personnel present. "For an hour, there was no help during which her leg could have been saved," said Anja, adding that she was given first-aid at Ambala station. She was taken to Ambala Civil Hospital where her leg was amputated. She was shifted to a Chandigarh hospital and discharged on June 7, 2012.

The petition said BHabika was brought to Mumbai and admitted to a private hospital. Her petition said the family was compelled to treat her in a private hospital despite there being a railway hospital. The Central Railway advocate told the court that her bills have been submitted to them. The judges said the petitioner's request is for taking treatment in the railway hospital and the hospital must examine if she requires further treatment, including use of prosthetic limb. They asked Bhavika to meet the chief medical superintendent of the railway hospital on August 2, 2013. The next hearing is after two weeks.

प्रकृती बिघडलेल्या सहका-याला उपचारासाठी नागपुरात आणताना लोको पायलटचा (रेल्वे चालक) रविवारी मृत्यू झाला. प्रकाश बोडखे (वय ४२ , नरेंद्रनगर) असे मृतकाचे नाव आहे. बोडखे दक्षिण पूर्व मध्य रेल्वेत लोको पायलट , तर संजय भगत हे सहायक पायलट आहेत. दोघेही आज सकाळी ६ वाजता कामावर हजर झाले. त्यानंतर मेटपांजरा येथे लाइट इंजिन घेऊन ते निघाले. मार्गात भगत यांनी आपल्याला अस्वस्थ वाटत असल्याचे सांगितले. त्यामुळे भगत यांना घेऊन बोडखे २२१११ भुसावळ-खंडवा एक्स्प्रेसने नागपूरकडे निघाले. मात्र , त्यावेळी बोडखे यांच्याही छातीत दुखत होते. काही दूर गेल्यावर त्यांना उलटी झाली व ते बेशुद्ध पडले. भगत यांनी अधिकारी तसेच रेल्वे इस्पितळात याबाबत कळविले. गाडी नागपूरला येताच बोडखे यांना रेल्वे इस्पितळात नेण्यात आले. मात्र , तेथे डॉक्टरांनी त्यांना मृत घोषित केले. दरम्यान , या घटनेमुळे रेल्वे प्रशासन वर्तुळात हळहळ व्यक्त करण्यात येत आहे.

Karnataka will have the first monument in the country that will be shifted it its entirety as one piece.

By obtaining all the necessary clearances, South Western Railways has initiated the process of inviting tenders to shift the 225-year-old Tipu’s armoury.

SWR chief administrative officer Adesh Sharma said: “Tenders will be invited to shift the armoury in a week’s time. We will process them as soon as possible and shift the armoury as it will help us in laying the second line of the Bangalore-Mysore Doubling Project at the earliest.”

Sharma says the railways is planning to invite national tenders to avoid paying international construction companies in foreign currency. Indian construction companies that have partnership with foreign construction companies are allowed to participate in the tender process.

Indian construction companies currently do not have the expertise to shift the armoury in one piece, officials said. “They will have to either engage the services of foreign professionals or collaborate with international construction companies,” an official added.

The Story So Far

The armoury, one of eight constructed by Tipu Sultan, is within the alignment of the proposed second railway line under the Bangalore-Mysore Doubling Project. As the armoury is a protected monument and comes under the Directorate of Archaeology and Museums, the Government of Karnataka and, the railways had to obtain clearances to shift it.

The armoury falls within 300 metres of the Srirangapatna Fort, which is a national monument. Railways had also obtained clearance from the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) to shift the armoury.

The ASI recently gave this clearance. Railways also engaged the services of the Institution of Engineers to suggest ways and means of shifting the armoury and finalised on the move to shift the entire armoury in one piece.

नई दिल्ली. रेल यात्रियों के लिए खुशखबरी है। रेल प्रशासन जल्द ही नई दिल्ली रेलवे स्टेशन पर यात्रियों को मुफ्त वाई-फाई इंटरनेट की सुविधा उपलब्ध कराएगा। इस सुविधा को लागू करने के बाद नई दिल्ली रेलवे स्टेशन देश का पहला रेलवे स्टेशन बन जाएगा जहां हवाई अड्डे कीतर्ज पर यात्रियों की सुविधा के लिए वाई-फाई की सेवा प्रदान की जाएगी।

डीआरएम अनुराग सचान ने रविवार को बताया कि वाई फाई लगाने का काम टेंडर के जरिए मुंबई की एक कंपनी को यह काम सौंपा गया है। यह कंपनी नई दिल्ली रेलवे स्टेशन को वाई-फाई तकनीक से लैस करने के लिए जल्द काम प्रारंभ करने जा रही है।

ज्ञात हो कि नई दिल्ली रेलवे स्टेशन पर रोजाना देश के विभिन्न भागों से आने-जाने से लेकर बड़ी संख्या में नई ट्रेनें बनकर चलती है। साधारण दिनों में रोजाना पांच लाख तो होली, दिवाली, छठ पूजा जैसे त्योहारों के अवसर पर आठ लाख यात्रियों का नई दिल्ली रेलवे स्टेशन पर आवाजाही रहती है।

Guna: The heavy rain in Madhya pradesh is wreaking havoc on denizens and in same the railway track between Mungwali and Ruthiyai has got drowned in Guna district.

 

According to information the soil erosion below this 400-500 meter track has effected the railway traffic in area. After this the route of many trains has been diverted to Beena. Meanwhile the board has also started repairing work of track.

MUMBAI: The delivery of 72 alternate current (AC) rakes manufactured at the Integral Coach Factory (ICF), Chennai, is expected to miss the revised deadline again. As per the reworked deadline, the prototype rakes were to arrive by August, but Mumbai Rail Vikas Corporation (MRVC) officials now expect them to arrive only in October.

The delay will hit plans to modernize the fleet and traction system, besides hampering service augmentation.

A senior MRVC official said, "Work on electrical fittings is on. We expected work on prototypes to be completed in July so that the rakes could reach in August. Thereafter, trials will have been carried out to ensure that subsequent rakes run smoothly on the suburban system."

An agreement between MRVC and Bombardier Transportation was inked in November 2011. TOI had reported in December 2012 that the delivery of rakes had been delayed by six months. As per the original schedule, the rakes were expected by March 2013.

The shells are being built at the ICF and electrical infrastructure, including traction motors, are being supplied and installed by Bombardier Transportation at a cost of Rs 14.8 crore per EMU. The rakes are being procured under the Mumbai Urban Transport Project (II).

The World Bank, which extended a loan of $385 million to MRVC for the project, is unhappy with the delay. An MRVC official said, "A World Bank team has sought a meeting next week to review progress of the project."

Following a review in November 2012, the bank in a report on March 31, 2013, revised the rating performance of MRVC from 'moderately satisfactory' to 'moderately unsatisfactory'.

MRVC may impose a penalty for the delay if Bombardier's explanation is unsatisfactory; as per the agreement, the total penalty should not exceed 5% of the project cost.

A Central Railway official said, "Unless delivery of the rakes starts, Western Railway will not be able to give us AC/DC dual traction compatible rakes. Till then, CR will not be able to switch from 1,500 V DC traction to 25 KV AC current traction."

* Less susceptible to corrosion as they will be made with stainless steel

* Shell exterior of rakes are white and a darker shade of purple, including the door, to camouflage paan stains as they are difficult to erase or dilute even after an intensive wash at the maintenance yard

* Will look like Metro system coaches

* Improved ventilation as air blowers have been installed atop rakes. In Siemens rakes, blowers were on sides and had to kept closed during rains

Bombardier deal

* Agreement between MRVC and Bombardier Transportation for electrical fittings was signed in November 2011

* Shells of rakes are being manufactured at Integral Coach Factory, Perambur

Original deadline

* Supply and installation of equipment for electrical fittings was to be done by November 2012

Punjab Governor Shiv Raj Patil has invited a delegation of the NGO, "Jago Nawanshahr, Jago Society", to apprise him of their demand of extending rail services and has
also taken up the issue with the Union Minister of Railways.The NGO has launched a signature campaign for mobilising the public, panchayats, social and political leaders for raising the demand of starting direct rail services from Nawanshahr to Amritsar, restarting rail services from Nawanshahr to Jalandhar, which were suspended during the time of militancy.It is also seeking extension of Garhshanker-Anandpur Sahib-Ropar-Chandigarh rail link for the convenience of the public and also for the industrial growth of the area besides extending the link between Rahon to Ludhiana.The Society has got signatures of more than 10,000 people. It has also submitted memorandums to Members of Parliament, MLAs, Railway Minister and the Chief Northern Divisional Manager, Ferozepur.

A delegation of the NGO, including Nirmal Singh Rehal, Jaswant Singh Bhatti, Gurvinder Singh, Vasdev Pardesi, Vivek Kumra, Balraj Singh, had recently submitted a memorandum to Punjab Governor Shiv Raj Patil at Punjab Raj Bhawan, Chandigarh.

Sirsa:
Sirsa MP Ashok Tanwar’s wife Avantika Maken Tanwar today flagged off the Sirsa-Hisar-Ludhiana train from Sirsa railway station. The Railways had announced to regularise the train from today. Running between Hisar and Ludhiana earlier, the train was extended up to Sirsa for a trial run two months ago. Avantika said during his meeting with Railway Minister Mallikarjun Khadge in Delhi, Ashok Tanwar had demanded that this train be run regularly and Khadge had accepted the demand.Bhupesh Mehta, Sirsa urban unit president of the Congress, was also present on the occasion. Avantika offered sweets to the driver, guard and other staff members of the train.The train will halt on both ways at Jakhod Kheda, Mandi Adampur, Bhathu, Ding, Suchan Kotli and Bajekan stations. The special train would have seven compartments, including six of general category and one for the guards.Various social, religious and political organisations of Sirsa have expressed their gratitude for running the train on a regular basis.

भागलपुर : भागलपुर रेलवे स्टेशन से खुलने वाली एक्सप्रेस ट्रेनों में यात्रियों की बढ़ती संख्या को देखते हुए मालदा डिवीजन के डीआरएम रवींद्र गुप्ता ने स्लीपर बोगी बढ़ाने को लेकर रेल मंत्रालय को पत्र लिखा था, जिसे मंत्रालय ने हरी झंडी दे दी है. इस महीने भागलपुर को 10 स्लीपर बोगी मिल जायेगी. बोगी के आने से यहां से खुलने वाली एक्सप्रेस ट्रेनों में यात्री की संख्या के अनुसार बोगी लगायी जायेगी.

यह बोगी स्थायी रूप से विभिन्न एक्सप्रेस ट्रेनों में लगेगी. नयी बोगी के आने से यात्रियों की परेशानी कम होगी. नयी बोगी जिसएक्सप्रेस ट्रेनों में लगेगी उसी के अनुसार आरक्षित सीटों की संख्या बढ़ेगी. इस महीने से एक्सप्रेस ट्रेनों में बोगी लगनी शुरू हो जायेगी. पहली बार मंत्रालय से एक साथ इतनी बोगी की स्वीकृति मिली है. सूरत, बेंगलुरु सहित अन्य राज्यों की यात्र करने वाले को अभी तक आरक्षित टिकट मिलने में काफी परेशानी होती थी.

* विभिन्न ट्रेनों में आठ बोगी सामान्य श्रेणी के लगेंगे

श्रवणी मेले में भागलपुर आने वाली विभिन्न एक्सप्रेस व लोकल ट्रेनों में कांवरियों की संख्या को देखते हुए इस महीने से ही आठ बोगी भागलपुर से खुलने वाली सामान्य श्रेणी के ट्रेनों में लगेगी.
