Mangalore : Railway officials from Palakkad and Mysore divisions, MCC officials and several representatives from other departments participated in the railway grievance redressal meeting chaired by MP Nalin Kumar Kateel at Circuit House here on Monday July 29.Regarding the demand to open the old level-crossing road near APMC from Baikampady industrial area, a railway official said due to various accidents being reported on the railway crossing, the railway board has banned level-crossing in view of safety. About the construction of railway overbridge (ROB) at Baikampady, he said it will be completed in the next 2 years.The construction of a railway underbridge (RUB) at Bajal level-crossing will be undertaken at a cost of Rs 4.96 crore, with the government and the MCC each putting in 50 percent of the share. The government has already sanctioned Rs 2.66 crore and out of the remaining amount to be paid MCC, Rs 19.39 lac is yet to be remitted, said a railway official from Palakkad.The soil testing work is in progress at the place earmarked for the construction of railway underbridge, after which further work will be undertaken, the official said. In reply to this, MP Nalin Kumar asked the official to fix a date for laying the foundation.In view of the increase in the number of people residing in Jeppu Mahakali Padpu and Jeppu Kudpadi areas, the demand for both ROB and RUB was made. The construction work at Jeppu Mahakali Padpu being borne by the government has encroachment issue. In case of Jeppu Kudpadi, the deposit amount has not been remitted by MCC, for which Nalin Kumar asked the official concerned to take a decision soon.

World class facilities at Mangalore Central station

Briefing about the proposed plan of upgrading the Mangalore Central station to international standards, an official said the project is being carried out by public-private partnership and the consultancy work has been handed over to Kerala Industrial and Technical Consultancy Organization (KITCO) which will identify the private firm for partnership.

The railway official also showed the site analysis report of the plan to the MP.

Before finalizing the plan, the KITCO official will make a presentation before the officials, he added.

Construction of the 4th and 5th platform at Mangalore Central station

As per the demands of the people, the 4th and 5th platform at Mangalore Central station will be build at a cost of Rs 16.19 crore, including construction high-level platform at Rs 2.55 crore, compound wall at Rs 27 lac, proposed pit line at Rs 2.7 crore, signal arrangement at Rs 55 lac and several others.

In addition, issues related to cleaning/maintenance and parking system at the station were also discussed in the meeting.

Nalin Kumar also asked the RTO and KSRTC officials to soon make arrangements for city bus permit to start KSRTC bus at Kankanady railway station (MJN).

In reply to the demand of extending CST-Mangalore superfast train up to Mangalore Central, a railway official said it was not possible to extend the train facility due to space constraints at the station, as three trains namely the Kurla Express, Chennai Express, and Trivandrum Express arrive at a similar time.

About the the Adarsha station plan for Kabaka Puttur station which comes under Mysore division, an official said the first phase of work at a cost of Rs 45 lac is in progress and will be completed by February 2014. The station building also faces problem of water leakage for which provision has not been made in this phase, he said.

For the renovation work at Subramanya station, an official from Mysore division said repair work worth Rs 14 lac is in progress which will be completed by February 2014.

MCC commissioner K Ajith Hegde was also present.

प्रकृती बिघडलेल्या सहका-याला उपचारासाठी नागपुरात आणताना लोको पायलटचा (रेल्वे चालक) रविवारी मृत्यू झाला. प्रकाश बोडखे (वय ४२ , नरेंद्रनगर) असे मृतकाचे नाव आहे. बोडखे दक्षिण पूर्व मध्य रेल्वेत लोको पायलट , तर संजय भगत हे सहायक पायलट आहेत. दोघेही आज सकाळी ६ वाजता कामावर हजर झाले. त्यानंतर मेटपांजरा येथे लाइट इंजिन घेऊन ते निघाले. मार्गात भगत यांनी आपल्याला अस्वस्थ वाटत असल्याचे सांगितले. त्यामुळे भगत यांना घेऊन बोडखे २२१११ भुसावळ-खंडवा एक्स्प्रेसने नागपूरकडे निघाले. मात्र , त्यावेळी बोडखे यांच्याही छातीत दुखत होते. काही दूर गेल्यावर त्यांना उलटी झाली व ते बेशुद्ध पडले. भगत यांनी अधिकारी तसेच रेल्वे इस्पितळात याबाबत कळविले. गाडी नागपूरला येताच बोडखे यांना रेल्वे इस्पितळात नेण्यात आले. मात्र , तेथे डॉक्टरांनी त्यांना मृत घोषित केले. दरम्यान , या घटनेमुळे रेल्वे प्रशासन वर्तुळात हळहळ व्यक्त करण्यात येत आहे.

Kochi: In the wake of the recent protests by season ticket holders over their right to travel in sleeper class coaches, the Railways has now come out with a clarification that certain day-trains running during the peak hours have been identified in which they would be allowed to travel between certain sections.

“The Railways receive many complaints regarding unauthorized occupation of reserved accommodation by commuters. Even the High Court had passed orders to regulate the entry of commuters in reserved coaches”, said the railway PRO.

“The said train witnesses heavy rush on every working day and we’d allotted two reserved coaches for season ticket travellers.

Now we have increased them to four coaches. We’ve also identified at least eight day trains in which they can travel”, the official said.

The trains are Hyderabad-bound Sabari Express (S-12 and S-13), Trivandrum-Mangalore Malabar Express (S-6 upto Kottayam), Mangalore-Trivandrum Malabar Express (S-5 & S-6 from Kottayam to Trivandrum), Alleppey-Chennai Express (S-7 Alleppey-Palghat), Trivandrum-Chennai superfast (S-10 & S-11 till Ernakulam) and the Alleppey-Bokaro Express (S-2 & 4; ST 1&3 Alleppey-Palghat).

This is in addition to the two fully unreserved trains – the 16303 Ernakulam - Trivandrum Vanchinad Express and 16341 Guruvayoor - Trivandrum Intercity Express which arrives at Trivandrum before 10 am.

‘Operation Octopus’, a drive launched by the railways in Thiruvananthapuram division to book ticketless travellers, was carried out at Ernakulam junction and town stations on Saturday. The drive began at 6 am and continued till 11.30 am. It was first carried out at Ernakulam town station. Passengers who deboarded trains at the two railway stations were asked to show their tickets. Those who could not re-furbish their tickets were booked. Thiruvananthapuram Divisional Security Commissioner R K Tripathi led the drive which fined 350 ticketless travellers. According to railway officials, they collected up to Rs 1,04,880 as part of the drive. Those found travelling with irregular or expired season tickets were also booked. The drive was intensified as the railways got complaints that the number of ticketless travellers had shot up. Since there is an acute shortage of TTEs, ticket checks on trains have become a difficult process. Railway officials allege that this has given travellers an excuse to commute without tickets. RPF, government railway police and commercial department officials were roped in for the drive. The officials said they were planning to continue the drive in the days to come.

If you are a daily visitor to the railway station or you like travelling by train and dislike the food served at the railway station, here’s a bit of good news.

Comesum, a famous food outlet at various railway stations in the country, is soon opening shop at the Chandigarh railway station.

The striking feature of the outlet is that it serves food 24 hours a day. Though the outlet is ready, but due to electricity “shortage”, it is not ready to serve food as yet. The seating capacity for the Comesum is around 45-50 persons.

The prices at the outlet will be decided as per the guidelines of the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Limited (IRCTC).

General Manager of Comesum Rakesh Kumar says, “The proposal for Comesum was in the queue for the past five years but it has been implemented now. The food junction is ready to serve the people but due to heavy requirement of electricity, we are unable to deliver the delicacies.”

Comesum is the largest food junction at the country’s railway stations with 40 outlets. “IRCTC has approved Comesum because of its hygiene and tasty food. We underwent a few quality tests to get the clearance certification from the railways,” Rakesh revealed.

Comesum also plans to open huge outlets in Punjab. The target cities are Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Amritsar and Bathinda. “Comesum has planned some huge investment for Punjab. To attract Punjabis, Comesum has already carried out a survey in the state to lure Punjabis. By the end of this year, Comesum may be set up in Amritsar, Ludhiana and Jalandhar,” Rakesh said.

Karnataka will have the first monument in the country that will be shifted it its entirety as one piece.

By obtaining all the necessary clearances, South Western Railways has initiated the process of inviting tenders to shift the 225-year-old Tipu’s armoury.

SWR chief administrative officer Adesh Sharma said: “Tenders will be invited to shift the armoury in a week’s time. We will process them as soon as possible and shift the armoury as it will help us in laying the second line of the Bangalore-Mysore Doubling Project at the earliest.”

Sharma says the railways is planning to invite national tenders to avoid paying international construction companies in foreign currency. Indian construction companies that have partnership with foreign construction companies are allowed to participate in the tender process.

Indian construction companies currently do not have the expertise to shift the armoury in one piece, officials said. “They will have to either engage the services of foreign professionals or collaborate with international construction companies,” an official added.

The Story So Far

The armoury, one of eight constructed by Tipu Sultan, is within the alignment of the proposed second railway line under the Bangalore-Mysore Doubling Project. As the armoury is a protected monument and comes under the Directorate of Archaeology and Museums, the Government of Karnataka and, the railways had to obtain clearances to shift it.

The armoury falls within 300 metres of the Srirangapatna Fort, which is a national monument. Railways had also obtained clearance from the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) to shift the armoury.

The ASI recently gave this clearance. Railways also engaged the services of the Institution of Engineers to suggest ways and means of shifting the armoury and finalised on the move to shift the entire armoury in one piece.

Guna: The heavy rain in Madhya pradesh is wreaking havoc on denizens and in same the railway track between Mungwali and Ruthiyai has got drowned in Guna district.

 

According to information the soil erosion below this 400-500 meter track has effected the railway traffic in area. After this the route of many trains has been diverted to Beena. Meanwhile the board has also started repairing work of track.

Sirsa MP Ashok Tanwar’s wife Avantika Maken Tanwar today flagged off the Sirsa-Hisar-Ludhiana train from Sirsa railway station. The Railways had announced to regularise the train from today. Running between Hisar and Ludhiana earlier, the train was extended up to Sirsa for a trial run two months ago. Avantika said during his meeting with Railway Minister Mallikarjun Khadge in Delhi, Ashok Tanwar had demanded that this train be run regularly and Khadge had accepted the demand.Bhupesh Mehta, Sirsa urban unit president of the Congress, was also present on the occasion. Avantika offered sweets to the driver, guard and other staff members of the train.The train will halt on both ways at Jakhod Kheda, Mandi Adampur, Bhathu, Ding, Suchan Kotli and Bajekan stations. The special train would have seven compartments, including six of general category and one for the guards.Various social, religious and political organisations of Sirsa have expressed their gratitude for running the train on a regular basis.

नागपुर। कलमेश्वर से कलमना रेलवे स्टेशन पर कम क्षमता का इंजन लेकर जाते समय एक लोको पायलट की तबीयत अचानक बिगड़ गई। मरीज को उपचार के लिए नागपुर के रेलवे अस्पताल ले जाते समय दूसरे सहकर्मी लोको पायलट को आये हार्टअटैक से उसकी जगह पर ही मृत्यु हो गई। मृतक को पहले नागपुर के रेलवे अस्पताल भेजने से संतप्त कामगारों ने अस्पताल में हंगामा मचाया। जिस कारण तनाव का वातावरण बना रहा है। 

मृतक का नाम अनिल बोडखे (42) नरेंद्रनगर है। अनिल बोडखे मध्य रेलवे नागपुर मंडल में लोको पायलट पद पर कार्यरत था। अनिल को मध्य रेलवे नागपुर मंडल के अधिकारियों ने रविवार को कम क्षमता के रेलवे इंजन को कलमेश्वर से कलमना रेलवे स्टेशन पर ले जाने के आदेश दिए। आदेश अनुसार वह सहायक लोको पायलट संजय भगत को लेकर यात्रा पर रवाना हो गया। इस बीच मेटपांजरा में संजय भगत की अचानक तबीयत बिगडऩे लगी। इसकी शिकायत अनिल बोडखे ने की।

अनिल ने तत्काल सूचना मध्य रेलवे नागपुर मंडल के कंट्रोल रूम सहित वरिष्ठ अधिकारियों को दी। अधिकारियों की सूचना पर तत्काल उक्त इंजन सुरक्षित स्थान पर लॉक कर, अन्य यात्री गाड़ी से बीमार संजय को नागपुर के रेलवे अस्पताल में लाने की तैयारी रेलवे प्रशासन ने शुरू कर दी। अनिल को भुसावल-खंडवा एक्सप्रेस मिलने से वह संजय को लेकर नागपुर की ओर रवाना हो गया। इस बीच अनिल बोडखे की छाती में दर्द होने लगा। अनिल को दर्द असहनीय होने पर वह चिल्लाने लगा।

इसे देख गाडी़ में हड़कंप मच गया। अनिल के बीमार होने की तत्काल सूचना टिकट निरीक्षक ने नागपुर के रेलवे उप     व्यवस्थापक कार्यालय सहित रेलवे के वरिष्ठ अधिकारियों को दी। रेलवे स्टेशन पर तुरंत डॉक्टरों का दल उपलब्ध कराया गया। किन्तु नागपुर रेलवे स्टेशन पर पहुंचने के पहले ही अनिल बोडखे की मृत्यु हो गई। अनिल का शव मध्य रेलवे के अस्पताल में लाया गया। इस दौरान रिक्त पद की वजह से लोको पायलटों को छुट्टी न देते हुए अतिरिक्त काम कराये जाने से यह घटना होने का आरोप रेलवे कामगारों ने लगाया है।

लोको पायलट की मृत्यु पर रेलवे कामगारों ने अस्पताल में खूब हंगामा मचाया। अनिल बोडखे का शव शाम को मेयो अस्पताल में भेजा गया। सोमवार को पोस्टमार्टम किया जाएगा। मध्य रेलवे के जनसंपर्क अधिकारी प्रवीण पाटील ने कहा कि यह घटना दुखद है। प्राथमिक जांच में अनिल को मधुमेह सहित अनेक बीमारियां होने का पता चला है। अनिल के पोस्टमार्टम के बाद मृत्यु का मुख्य कारण पता चलेगा। इस दौरान अस्वस्थ संजय भगत का उपचार चल रहा है।

सप्ताह में चार दिन चलने वाली लुधियाना-दिल्ली शताब्दी एक्सप्रेस अब सातों दिन चलेगी। जींद रेलवे स्टेशन पर इसका ठहराव भी होगा।

यह घोषणा रेलमंत्री मल्लिकाजरुन खड़गे ने की। उन्होंने रविवार को यहां पुरानी आईटीआई मैदान में रोहतक-गोहाना-पानीपत रेलवे लाइन के रेल बाईपास के शिलान्यास के बाद जनसभा संबोधित की।

रेलमंत्री ने केंद्रीय भूतल परिवहन मंत्री ऑस्कर फर्नाडीस, प्रदेश के मुख्यमंत्री भूपेंद्र सिंह हुड्डा और स्थानीय सांसद दीपेंद्र हुड्डा की मौजूदगी में लगभग 181 करोड़ की परियोजना की आधारशिला रखी।
