सीतामढ़ी-मुजफ्फरपुर रेलखंड पर सोमवार को ग्रामीणों ने ट्रेन रोक कर घंटोँ बवाल काटा। हाल्ट की मांग को लेकर ग्रामीणों ने ट्रेन की पटरी पर बैठ कर धरना व प्रदर्शन किया। डुमरा थाना के लगमा गुमटी के पास आधा दर्जन गांव के सैकड़ों लोगों ने गाड़ी नं. 55505 को रोके रखा। ग्रामीणों के अनुसार आधा दर्जन गांव के लोगों को आवागमन लगमा गुमटी से जुड़ा हैं। यहां हाल्ट की जरूरत हैं। गाड़ी ब्रेकिंग की सूचना पर पहुंचे प्रर्दशनकारियों को समझाने का प्रयास किया। प्रदर्शनकारी वरीय अधिकारियों के बुलाने की मांग परअड़े थे। सूचना पाकर आरपीएफ के एसके सिंह व जीआरपी के आरएलपी सिंह घटना स्थल पहुंच प्रदर्शनकारियों को समझाने में काफी मशक्कत करनी पड़ी। करीब चार घंटे के बाद रेलवे यातायात निरीक्षक अनिल कुमार, महेश कुमार आदि अधिकारियों के आश्वासन पर रेल परिचालन शुरू हुआ।

गोरखालैंड की मांग को लेकर गोरखा जनमुक्ति मोरचा द्वारा आहूत 72 घंटे के पहाड़ बंद से विश्व प्रसिद्ध ट्वॉय ट्रेन का परिचालन एक बार फिर से ठप हो गया है। यह ट्रेन इन दिनों कर्सियांग से दार्जिलिंग तथा सिलीगुड़ी रंगटंग के बीच चलती थी। ट्रेन न चलने से इसका लुत्फ उठाने के इच्छुक पर्यटकों को निराशा ही हाथ लगी। डीएचआर सूत्रों द्वारा मिली जानकारी के अनुसार सोमवार को सिलीगुड़ी से रंगटंग के बीच दर्जनों यात्रियों ने ट्वॉय ट्रेन का सफर करने के लिए टिकट बुक कराए थे, जिन्हें रद करना पड़ा। डीएचआरके निदेशक ने कहा कि बंद की वजह से ट्वॉय ट्रेन का परिचालन रोकना पड़ा है। बंद खत्म होने के बाद परिचालन सुचारु हो सकेगा।

गोरखपुर : माल ढुलाई से पूर्वोत्तर रेलवे की आय में बढोत्तरी हुई है। आरंभिक औसत माल लादान से होने वाली आय में करीब 61 फीसद की वृद्धि हुई है।
मुख्य जनसंपर्क अधिकारी आलोक कुमार सिंह के अनुसार माल विपणन के क्षेत्र में किए जा रहे समेकित प्रयास के परिणाम सामने आने लगे हैं। वित्तीय वर्ष 2013- 14 की प्रथम तिमाही में जून 2013 तक इस रेलवे पर माल लादान की लीड एवं आय में उल्लेखनीय वृद्धि हुई है। इस अवधि में माल लादान में वृद्धि के पैमाने आरंभिक औसत लीड में आशातीत बढ़ोत्तरी हुई है। सीपीआरओ के अनुसार वित्त वर्ष 2012-13 की प्रथम तिमाही में आरंभिक औसत लीड 688 किमी था, जो वर्तमान वित्त वर्ष की इसी अवधि में बढ़कर 1107 किमी हो गया है। पिछले वित्त वर्ष की प्रथम तिमाही में जहां प्रति वैगन 688 किमी के लिए माल लादान हुआ था वहीं वर्तमान प्रथम तिमाही में 1107 किमी तक प्रति वैगन माला लादान हुआ है।

The former Minister H.D. Revanna of the Janata Dal (Secular) on Monday alleged that the Namma Metro project has turned into a “big scandal” and accused Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) authorities of indulging in irregularities in the implementation of the project.Speaking on various State budget proposals in the Legislative Assembly, Mr. Revanna said that BMRCL has been incurring Rs. 62 crore more expenditure for laying a km of track in the city compared to the project taken up in Chennai. The cost per km of metro rail in Bangalore is Rs. 362 crore against the Rs. 300 crore in Chennai, Mr. Revanna said.

The project, which was launched in 2007, was now expected to be ready in 2015. Moreover, the project cost has escalated from Rs. 6,395 crore in 2007 to Rs 15,352 crore now on account of delay in implementation and also inflation. Though there was no cost involved for acquisition of land for laying the underground railway line, BMRCL had been spending Rs. 362 crore per km, he alleged.

Erratic power supply

He alleged that farmers have been facing problems on account of erratic supply of power to irrigation pumpsets. Electricity supply companies have incurred losses and are unable to complete several planned projects due to bad management, he said.

Earlier, C.T. Ravi (BJP) demanded higher allocation of funds to the agriculture sector, while Siddu Nyamegouda (Congress) sought more funds for the Hyderabad-Karnataka region.

Intervening during the discussion, Ashok Kheny of the Karnataka Makkala Paksha urged the State government to ban transportation of cows and other domestic animals from the State to slaughterhouses in Andhra Pradesh.

The much-awaited day train to Chennai from Tuticorin will be introduced on July 31. As announced in the Railway Budget 2013-14, the sectional coaches running between Chennai Egmore and Madurai in trains (16127 /16128) and Chennai Egmore-Guruvayur Express will be extended to Tuticorin as Tuticorin-Chennai Egmore-Tuticorin Link Express (numbers 16130 /16129).The inaugural service of Tuticorin-Chennai Egmore Link Express (train number 16130) will be flagged off at Tuticorin railway station at 7.35 a.m. on Wednesday, N.Venugopal, Senior Public Relations Officer, Madurai Division, said in a statement on Monday.

Timings

The inaugural and regular service of Tuticorin-Chennai Egmore Link Express (16130) and regular service of Chennai Egmore-Tuticorin Link Express (16129) will commence as per schedule.

Chennai Egmore-Tuticorin Link Express (16129) Daily would leave Chennai Egmore at 7.40 a.m. and arrive at Vanchi Maniyachi at 18.35 hours and leave Vanchi Maniachchi at 19.15 hours to reach Tuticorin at 20.35 hours.

The Tuticorin-Chennai Egmore Link Express (16130) Daily would leave Tuticorin at 7.35 a.m. and arrive at Vanchi Maniachchi at 8.30 a.m. and leave Vanchi Maniachchi at 8.35 a.m. to reach Chennai Egmore at 21.15 hours.

The link express would have six second-lass sitting coaches (reserved), one general second-class coach and one luggage-cum-brake van coach. This link express coaches would be attached and detached at Vanchi Maniachchi station.

Stoppages

The eight-bogie train would stop at Tambaram, Chengalpattu, Melmaruvathur, Tindivanam, Villupuram, Vridhachalam, Pennadam, Ariyalur, Srirangam, Tiruchi, Manaparai, Dindigul, Kudalnagar, Madurai, Virudunagar, Satur, Kovilpatti, Vanchi Maniachchi and Milavittan. The Chennai Egmore-Tuticorin Link Express (16129) would stop at Tuticorin-Melur and Tuticorin-Chennai Egmore Link Express (16130) would stop at Mambalam as well.

MANGALORE: After Puttur Railway Yatri Sangha, the Kanyakumari District Railway User's Association (KKDRUA) has also joined the chorus urging Union Railway Minister to propose Mangalore railway division under South Western Railway (SWR), headquartered in Hubli.

The association wants sections of Konkan railway like Karwar up to Madgaon included in Mangalore division. P Edward Jeni, Secretary of association said Mangalore central one of the primary revenue earner for Southern Railway has got its divisional head quarters in the neighbouring Kerala state as it comes under Palakkad division of Southern Railway.

The Zonal Headquarters is located at Chennai in yet another neighbouring state of Karnataka. It's quite natural that however bigger may be the contribution of Mangalore, revenue wise, due to its administrative control located in other states, raw deal has been meted out to Mangalore,'' he said.

He alleged that Palakkad division has been eyeing Mangalore just for its revenue especially from the NMPT ( New Mangalore Port Trust) and also the Mangalore Junction, which is used as mere dump yard for the trains which used to primarily serve the Malabar region of Kerala. The number of from Mangalore towards Kerala side is a clear indication of the fact that Palakkad division is hardly interested in linking Mangalore with other interior parts of Karnataka,'' he further alleged.

As a case in point, he cited the example of Yesvantpur - Mangalore - Kannur express (via Mysore) is being operated to help Malabar region to have more train links with Bangalore. After lot of struggle a portion of that train was made to run in the opposite direction from Mangalore to Karwar, the district HQ of Uttara Kannada district which has been languishing for direct train connectivity with the state HQ. Even now one can see a weekly train from Mangalore to Yesvantpur being announced as to be operated via Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh (Kuppam) to Yesvantpur.

Thus, this train would be getting a unique identity in Indian railways of originating from the same state (Karnataka) and ending up in the same state (Karnataka) but being operated through three other different states,'' he rued indicating how Palakkad division proposes trains from Mangalore with the sole motive of catering to the Malabar region of Kerala as there are limited facilities like pit line, maintenance facilities in major railway stations in Malabar like Kozhikkode, Kannur etc. Jeni pointed out that due to this route from Mangalore- Hassan is hardly utilized, adding the reason cited for operating few passenger trains via Subrahmanya Road, Hassan section is that line is used mainly for freight traffic. This is not at all an acceptable reason as Mangalore is not at all connected with places in Karnataka like Hubli, the HQ of SWR, Bijapur, Gulbarga, Bidar, Raichur etc.

INTRODUCTION OF CHENNAI EGMORE – TUTICORIN (LINK) EXPRESS


    Southern Railway will introduce a new train service between Chennai Egmore – Tuticorin o­n 31st July, 2013.

    Train No.16129 Chennai Egmore – Tuticorin (Link) express will leave Chennai Egmore at 07.40 hrs. and arrive Tuticorin at 20.35 hrs. the same day.  Train No.16130 Tuticorin – Chennai Egmore (Link) express will leave Tuticorin at 07.35 hrs. and arrive Chennai Egmore at 21.15 hrs. the same day.

    These link express trains will run with Train No.16127/16128 Chennai Egmore – Guruvayur – Chennai Egmore express trains between Chennai Egmore – Vanchi Maniyachchi – Chennai Egmore.  Between Vanchi Maniyachchi Jn. – Tuticorin, the Chennai Egmore – Tuticorin (Link) express will stop at Milavittan and Tuti-Melur; the Tuticorin – Chennai Egmore (Link) express will stop at Milavittan and will not stop at Tuti-melur.

ISAKHAPATNAM: Officials of the Waltair division of East Coast Railways (ECoR) conducted a massive surprise check at Vizianagaram railway station to catch ticketless passengers on Monday.This follows a report highlighting the absence of such drives due to staff crunch in the division, in TOI a week ago. During the nine-hour check, the officials found that many school and college students were travelling without proper tickets, including time-barred season tickets. "Keeping in view their future, we counselled them on the spot on the consequences of violating rules," a senior railway officer said.

About 12,000 tickets were sold at the general booking counter at the station on Monday, earning the Railways revenue of Rs 2.3 lakh, an increase of 179% over the previous day and 325% over the same day of last year, said M Yelvender Yadav, senior divisional commercial manager.

The sale of monthly season tickets (MST) also rose steeply, with 177 MSTs being issued against 13 MSTs on the same day last year - and an increase of 1,262%. The increase over the previous day was 205%, he said.

Defaulters and unauthorised persons on the railway station premises and trains would be penalized under sections 137,138 and 139 of the Railways Act 1989 and they would face imprisonment for as much as six months or fines as high as Rs 1,000 or both, Yadav said.
