MANGALORE: In order to cater to the extra rush of passengers during the ensuing Ganpati Festival, Konkan Railway, in co-ordination with Western Railway has introduced special trains between Ahmedabad-Madgaon.

Train 09416 Ahmedabad Madgoan will operate every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday from September 2 to 21. It will start from Ahmedabad 4.55 pm and reach Madgoan 4.30pm the next day.

Train 09415 Madgoan Ahmedabad will operate on every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday from September 3 to 22. It will start from Madgaon at 8 pm and reach Ahmeddabad at 7.20 pm the next day. The trains will halt at Nadiad, Anand, Vadodara, Bharuch, Surat, Navsari, Valsad, Vapi, Dhanu Road, Boisar,Vasai Road, Panvel, Roha, Mangaon, Khed, Chiplun, Savarda, Sangmeshwar, Ratnagiri, Adavali, Rajapur Road, Vaibhavwadi Road,Kankavali, Sindhudurg,kudal, Zarap, Sawantwadi Road, Madure, Pernem, Thivim, Karmali, Madgaon. The train will have 17 coaches.

Apart from this Konkan Railway, in coordiantion with Central Railway will also be running the following Special trains for Ganpati Festival. They are: Mumbai CST-Madgaon- Mumbai CST(Train No. 01033/01034), Six days a week; Lokmanya Tilak (T) -Madgaon- Lokmanya Tilak (T) (Train No. 01045/01046), Weekly; Lokmanya Tilak -Pernem- Lokmanya Tilak (Train no. 01039/01040), Bi-weekly; Lokmanya Tilak -Pernem- Lokmanya Tilak (Train no.01043/01044), Weekly; Mumbai CST -Pernem - Mumbai CST( Train no. 01041/01042), Bi-weekly; Dadar-Sawantwadi-Dadar (Train no. 01003/01004), Tri-weekly and Lokmanya Tilak -Ratnagiri- Lokmanya Tilak (Train no. 01037/01038), Daily.

Train 09009 Bandra Madgoan will operate on every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from September 2 to 21. It will start from Bandra terminus at 12.15 am and reach Madgoan at 4.30 pm the same day. Train 09010 Madgoan Bandra will operate on every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from September 2 to 21. It will start from Madgaon at 8 pm and reach Bandra terminus at 1.20 pm the next day.

The trains will halt at Andheri, Borivali, Vasai Road, Panvel, Roha, Mangaon,Khed, Chiplun, Savarda, Sangmeshwar, Ratnagiri, Adavali, Rajapur Road, Vaibhavwadi Road,Kankavali, Sindhudurg,kudal, Zarap, Sawantwadi Road, Madure, Pernem, Thivim, Karmali, Madgaon. The train will have 18 coaches.

HANSI: Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today said the state government would give 50 per cent of Rs 2,515 crore for the implementation of three railway line projects.During a rail road rally here, Hooda announced to provide the amount for the three railway line projects -- 104 km long Delhi-Sohna-Nuh-FerozpurJhirka-Alwar, Hisar-Agroha-Fatehabad-Sirsa (93 kms) and Yamunanagar-Sadhora-Naraingarh-Chandigarh (91 kms).Hooda was responding to the suggestion made by Railway Minister Mallikarjun Kharge, at the same venue, that Railway Ministry would take up the three important rail lines on priority basis provided the state government bears half of the expenditure.The rally was organised for the foundation stone laying ceremony of Hansi-Meham-Rohtak rail line and four laning of Hisar-Hansi-Meham-Rohtak section of National Highway 10.The Railway Minister appreciated the state government's initiative of contributing 50 per cent share in the railway projects of the state.Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Oscar Fernandes, who also addressed the rally, announced to sanction Railway over Bridge at Dabwali which would cost more than Rs 37 crore.Meanwhile, Hooda announced to give Rs 10 crore each to all seven assembly segments of Hisar for development works. He also announced the construction of a stadium at Hansi.

Lashing out at opposition INLD, Hooda claimed that not a single inch of rail line was laid in the INLD-BJP regime.

Hooda said INLD-BJP government had spent only Rs 602.72 crore in Hisar whereas the present Congress government has already spent Rs 3165.62 crore in the area.

He also took a dig at the BJP saying that one its leader says that Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi should lead BJP while the others have a different opinion.

BANGALORE, JULY 31:   Sanjeev Mittal has taken charge as Divisional Railway Manager for Hubli division of South Western Railway.

Mittal has replaced Rahul Jain who has been transferred to Central Railway, Mumbai.

Prior to this posting, Mittal was Chief Bridge Engineer, Headquarters, South Western Railway.

Mittal belongs to Indian Railway Service of Engineer (IRSE) of 1982 batch. He has graduated in civil engineering from University of Roorkee (now Indian Institute of Technology), Roorkee in 1981 and he did his post-graduation in structural engineering in 1983 from the same institution.

The Indian Railways plans to establish captive nuclear power plants to fulfill its increasing energy demand for train operation.

Railway board member (electrical) Kul Bhushan said that the railway is in negotiations with Nuclear Power Corporation of India (NPCIL) for setting up the plants, reported Times of India.

A memorandum of understanding will be signed with NPCIL after the discussions, Bhushan added.

For establishing the captive nuclear plants, Indian Railways is also considering some options in Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.

As part of its strategy, the Indian Railways has opted for this decision due to increased cost of diesel for bulk users.

KOLKATA: Junior railway minister Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury on Tuesday flagged off the Howrah-New Jalpaiguri AC Superfast Express and inaugurated computerized reservation centres at several locations along the Howrah, Malda and Asansol divisions of Eastern Railway. He also announced extension of some trains and increase in frequency of others.

Guwahati/Darjeeling: As Telangana statehood creates ripple effect, the demand for a separate Karbi Anglong state in Assam turned violent on Wednesday and three outfits chalked out agitation plans for separate states of Bodo land, Kamatapur and Gorkhaland in the eastern region.

All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) announced a series of agitational programmes from on Thursday in protest against the Centre’s alleged discrimination against Bodos and its failure to fulfil the genuine aspirations of the indigenous people.

It has called a 12-hour railway blockade on August 2 followed by a 60-hour Assam bandh from 5 am on August 5 and a 1,000-hour economic blockade if the situation compels, its president Promode Boro said. ABSU and the Peoples’ Joint Action Committee for Bodoland Movement (a conglomerate of 55 organisations) have been raising the statehood demand for many years.
