The Central Railways has set in motion a proposal to open the second entrance to the Railway Station here from Tarfail locality by opening a new general ticket issuing counter, which will later be upgraded to full-fledged reservation counter, once the fourth platform gets inaugurated. The Central Railways sources told The Hindu here on Friday that initially, only general tickets would be issued at the new counter, as it had been set up in a old building. Earlier, Union Railway Minister M. Mallikarjun Kharge had directed the Central Railways to construct the fourth platform, provide a new entrance from Tarfail locality and a booking counter at the new entrance of the railway station. The Central Railways had initiated steps to construct the fourth platform by laying the railway lines and the construction of the second entrance would begin shortly.

In view of yard remodelling at Podanur Junction as part of gauge conversion between Pollachi and Podanur from August 10 to 26, the Railways has regulated, cancelled, or diverted some trains. Train No.16107/ 16108 Egmore – Mangalore – Egmore Express has been cancelled between Coimbatore and Mangalore from August 20 to 25. Train No.16107 Chennai Egmore – Mangalore Central Express will be regulated for 60 minutes at Coimbatore on August 11, 13, 14, 17,18, 19; for 70 minutes on August 12, 15, 26; for 120 minutes at Coimbatore on August 16.Train No.16318 Jammutawi –Kanniyakumari Express will be regulated for 105 minutes at Coimbatore on August 15 and 22.

अपर मंडल रेल प्रबंधक हितेंद्र मेहरोत्रा ने बताया कि डिब्रूगढ़ (05903) से यह ट्रेन शुक्रवार को चल दी है, यह ट्रेन रविवार की सुबह 7.35 बजे मुरादाबाद पहुंचेगी। मुरादाबाद में ट्रेन का ठहराव दस मिनट रहेगा। सुबह 7.45 बजे यहां से रवाना होगी और दोपहर 1.10 बजे चंडीगढ़ पहुंच जाएगी। वापसी में यह ट्रेन (05904) चंडीगढ़ से रविवार की रात 11.15 बजे चलेगी और सोमवार की सुबह 5.30 बजे मुरादाबाद पहुंचेगी। यह ट्रेन बुधवार की शाम को डिब्रूगढ़ पहुंचेगी। यह ट्रेन 22 सितंबर तक सप्ताह में एक दिन चलायी जाएगी।

Non-bailable cases would be booked against those disrupting train traffic, causing inconvenience to the passengers and damaging railway property in the district during the rail roko being planned during the Samaikyandhra agitation, Superintendent of Police Vikramjeet Duggal said in a press release on Friday.Video cameras would be used to record the action of agitators at the railway stations, level crossings and rail tracks, he said and cautioned students and youth not to resort to violence since that their future would be in jeopardy if cases were booked against them.

Bhubaneswar: East Coast Railways has introduced a weekly train between Puri and Shirdi. It will leave Puri at 10.15pm on August 16 and reach Shirdi on Sunday at 6.25pm. In the return journey, the train will depart from Shirdi on Sundays at 1pm and arrive at Puri on Mondays at 11pm.

Special Trains run between Banihal and Baramulla in J&K on the eve of Eid
To clear extra rush on the occasion of Eid festival, Northern Railway will run special trains between Banihal and Baramulla in Jammu and Kashmir for three days from today.

Special trains will be pressed into service between Baramulla and Banihal from tomorrow to facilitate passengers travelling during the festive period, said a senior Northern Railway official.

The Banihal-Qazigund section, part of the Kashmir rail link project, was recently commissioned with much fanfare in the presence of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi.

The special train service will be available for three days from August 9 to 11 in the section.

The Special train will start operation from Budgam at 6.10 AM to arrive Banihal at 7.50 AM the same day. In return the train will leave Banihal at 8 AM to reach at 9.43 AM.

Another train will depart from Baramulla at 2.10 PM to arrive Banihal at 5.55 PM.

Similarly, more trains will run in the section during the day including the last special train will depart from Banihal at 6 PM to arrive at Budgaon at 8.10 PM.

Demanding a separate Koshal state comprising western Odisha districts, activists under the banner of Koshal Kranti Dal (KKD) today staged a rail roko agitation here.

As a result, express, passenger and goods trains remained stranded at various railway stations, official sources said.

"We have already requested the state and Union government to take immediate steps for formation of Koshal state," KKD president Upendra Mohapatra said.

Bhubaneswar-Bolangir Intercity Express and a goods train were detained at Sambalpur Road station for some time by activists along with students here.

Howrah-Jagadalpur Express was stranded for some time at Bargarh as slogan shouting agitationists squatted on the railway tracks.

Similar demonstrations were staged at Bolangir and Jharsuguda railway station affecting the traffic.

"The rail roko agitation was successful and people from all walks of life spontaneously participated in it," said KKD president.

Earlier on Saturday, rasta roko agitation was held in 10 districts on national highways and state highways linking Western Odisha, said Mohapatra.

MANGALORE: In connection with yard remodeling (stage-II) as part of Gauge Conversion work between Pollachi-Podanur Pre-Non Interlocking/Non Interlocking work will be undertaken in different spells at Podanur Junction from August 10 to August 26. They are: Train No 12678 Ernakulam Junction - Bangalore express will be regulated for 45 minutes at Madukkarai; Train No 13352 Alleppey - Dhanbad - Alleppey express will be regulated for 75 minutes at Madukkarai; Train No 13351 Dhanbad - Alleppey - Dhanbad express will be regulated for 60 minutes at Coimbatore; Train No 16107 Chennai Egmore - Mangalore Central express will be regulated for 120 minutes at Coimbatore and Train No 12660 Shalimar - Nagercoil express will be regulated for 90 minutes at Coimbatore.

While Train No 16107 Chennai Egmore - Mangalore Central express will be regulated for 60 minutes at Coimbatore will be regulated on August 17; Train No 16107 Chennai Egmore - Mangalore Central express will be regulated for 60 minutes at Coimbatore on August 18 and Train No 16107 Chennai Egmore - Mangalore Central express will be regulated for 60 minutes at Coimbatore on August 19.

On August 22, Train No 16318 Jammutawi - Kanniyakumar express will be regulated for 105 minutes at Coimbatore and on August 26, rain No 16107 Chennai Egmore - Mangalore Central express will be regulated for 70 minutes at Coimbatore.
