रेलवे बोर्ड में सदस्य नियुक्त कराने के नाम पर 10 करोड़ रुपये रिश्वत मांगने के मामले में तत्कालीन रेलमंत्री पवन बंसल के भाजे विजय सिंगला समेत छह आरोपियों की न्यायिक हिरासत की अवधि 31 अगस्त तक बढ़ा दी गई है। सोमवार को न्यायायिक हिरासत की अवधि समाप्त होने के बाद उन्हें पटियाला हाउस कोर्ट स्थित विशेष जज स्वर्णा कांता शर्मा की अदालत पेश किया गया था। अदालत ने मामलेमें आरोपी विजय सिंगला, रेलवे बोर्ड के पूर्व सदस्य महेश कुमार, एमवी मुराली कृष्णन, आरोपी सीवी वेणुगोपाल व दो अन्य की न्यायिक हिरासत की अवधि बढ़ा दी है। मामले में कुल दस आरोपियों में से चार अभी जमानत पर है।
उल्लेखनीय है कि सीबीआइ ने दो जुलाई को दायर आरोप पत्र में महेश कुमार, विजय सिंगला व आठ अन्य को आरोपी बनाया था। सीबीआइ का आरोप है कि सिंगला ने महेश कुमार से दस करोड़ रुपये मागे थे, ताकि उसे सदस्य (इलैक्ट्रिकल) नियुक्त किया जा सके। दोनों के बीच तय हुआ था कि पाँच करोड़ रुपये नियुक्ति से पहले और पाच करोड़ बाद में दिये जाएंगे। रिश्वत की किस्त के रूप में तीन मई को सिंगला ने 90 लाख रुपये लिए थे।

पटना इंटरसीटी एक्सप्रेस में झपटमार गिरोह का आतंक थमने का नाम नहीं ले रहा है। हद तब हो गई जब इस गिरोह ने सोमवार सुबह बांका आ रही इस ट्रेन में घटना को अंजाम दिया। हर बार की तरह इस बार मुड़हरा हाल्ट के पास घटना को अंजाम देकर अपराधी भागते बने। जानकारी के अनुसार पटना से एक नर्स अपने घर बांका आ रही थी। इसी दौरान मुड़हरा के समीप किसी ने उसके गले से सोने का चेन और हाथ से मोबाइल झपट कर फरार हो गया। घटना के बाद ट्रेन में अफरातफरी मच गई। लेकिन, तब तक ट्रेन के रूकने पर शातिर उतर कर भागने में सफल रहा। ट्रेन के बांका पहुंचने पर महिला ने बांका थाना पहुंच कर पुलिस से इसकी शिकायत की। महिला का बयान दर्ज कर पुलिस ने इसे प्राथमिकी के लिए जीआरपी थाना भागलपुर भेज दिया है। पुलिस ने उक्त शातिर की पहचान कर लिए जाने का दावा है। उसकी गिरफ्तारी के लिए पुलिस ने छापामारी शुरू कर दी है। मालूम हो कि इसी जगह पर इंटरसीटी और पैसेंजर दोनों ट्रेन के यात्रियों के साथ कई बार लूटपाट व छिनतई की घटना घट चुकी है।

PATNA: Railways suffered an estimated loss of over Rs 90 crore as a furious mob set ablaze 15 coaches, including an AC coach and locomotive of the Saharsa-Patna Rajyarani Express (12567) and five coaches and the locomotive of Samastipur-Saharsa passenger train at Dhamara Ghat on Saharsa-Mansi section under Samastipur division of East Central Railway (ECR) after 37 passengers were killed by the running train around 9am on Monday morning. Railways, however, put the death toll at 28. The railway communication system was totally paralysed as an irate mob also ransacked the railway station, cabin and tracks. It was difficult for railways to rush the rescue team to the site soon after the mishap, said ECR CPRO Amitbah Prabhakar. According to him, most of the officials, including railway doctors of the rescue team, were unable to reach the accident site because of lack of direct road link. He said the railways rescue team could reach the spot at 2.45pm only.

The CPRO said ECR GM Madhuresh Kumar, along with senior officials of the ECR headquarters, rushed to the site by a special train soon after receiving the information about the incident. However, Samastipur DRM Arun Mallik and other senior officials of the division were already camping at the site and supervising the rescue and relief works, he said.

Though railways was yet to announce an inquiry to probe the exact cause behind the incident, prima facie it appeared that the mishap took place while the victims were crossing the tracks when Rajyarani Express was coming from Saharsa end. The CPRO said railways started its rescue operation after getting clearance from the local police.

He said the mob assaulted the train driver and made several staff of Dhamara Ghat hostage for a few hours. They were released after police intervention. Traffic system would remain suspended on Saharsa-Mansi section till normalcy returned, he said.

Meanwhile, railways cancelled four passenger trains on Monday which included Saharsa-Amritsar Jansewa Express, Saharsa-Barauni Express, Patna-Saharsa Rajyarani Express and Patna-Saharsa Kosi Express.

Amritsar-Saharsa Garib Rath was short terminated at Begusarai on Monday and it would originate from there for Amritsar. Sealdah-Saharsa passenger would originate from Mansi while Amritsar-Saharsa Jansewa was terminated at Barauni. Besides, Barauni-Saharsa passenger train was also terminated at Khagaria, the CPRO said.

Sources said a preliminary assessment of the accident by the Railway Board indicated that the Rajrani Express, which ran over the devotees, was not issued a "look-out" or caution signal while passing the station, which would have involved the driver decelerating the train to 15-20 km per hour while crossing the station. MoS for Railways Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said the train was moving "at a speed of around 80 kmph" at the time of the crossing of the station.

Moreover, RPF was not deployed at the station to handle the crowd despite the fact that every Monday in saawan a large number of devotees visit the place to offer prayers at the local temple.

MYSORE: Train services between Mysore and Bangalore will be affected on Tuesday due to work related to doubling of the track. Six trains will be cancelled as the South Western Railway (SWR) is taking up engineering work on the Bangalore-Mysore broad-gauge section.

The work, between the Maddur and Mandya sections of the line, will begin at 5am and last 24 hours, SWR's senior divisional commercial manager K Anil Kumar said. Of the 19 trains that were to run on Tuesday, 11 will be in service, sources said.

The Mysore-Yeshwantpur-Mysore Malgudi Express and Bangalore-Mysore-Bangalore Rajya Rani Express have been cancelled for the day. The services of four trains have been withdrawn between Bangalore and Mysore: Hubli-Mysore-Hubli Hampi Express; Tuticorin-Mysore Express; Mysore-Mayiladuthurai Express; and Mysore-Solapur-Mysore Gol Gumbaz Express. However, these trains will leave at their designated timings from Bangalore.

The Bangalore-Mysore passenger train has been cancelled between Channapatna and Mysore, railway officials said. The Chamarajanagar-Tirupati passenger train will start 30 minutes late.

Following the cancellations, additional buses will be operated on the Mysore-Bangalore highway, a KSRTC official said.

आरा : रोहतास जिले के बड्डी में स्वतंत्रता दिवस के दिन रविदास मूर्ति तोड़े जाने का विरोध कर रहे दलितों पर हमला किये जाने के खिलाफ सोमवार को आहूत शाहाबाद बंद का मिलाजुला असर देखा गया। इस दौरान बंद समर्थकों ने सड़क एवं रेल यातायात को निशाना बनाया। जिसके चलते रेल एवं सड़क परिचालन पर खासा प्रभाव पड़ा। माले कार्यकर्ता दोषियों को अविलंब सजा दिलाने एवं मुख्यमंत्री से इस्तीफा की मांग कर रहे थे। आरा में सुबह से ही माले कार्यकर्ता सड़क पर उतर आये थे। इस दौरान माले कार्यकर्ताओं ने सबसे पहले आरा-पटना राजमार्ग को बस स्टैड के पास जाम कर दिया। जिसके चलते राजमार्ग पर वाहनों का परिचालन ठप होने से महाजाम जैसी स्थिति उत्पन्न हो गयी। इस दौरान कार्यकर्ताओं ने स्थानीय रेलवे स्टेशन पर पटना-सासाराम पैसेंजर ट्रेन को रोकर घंटों विरोध प्रदर्शन किया। शहर में विरोध मार्च निकाला गया। यहां आंदोलन का नेतृत्व माले नेता सुदामा प्रसाद, दिलराज प्रीतम, क्यामुद्दीन, राजू यादव, अमित बंटी,गोपाल प्रसाद, बालमुकंद चौधरी एवं दीना प्रसाद आदि कार्यकर्ता कर रहे थे। जगदीशपुर में नयका टोला मोड़ को जाम किया गया। इसाढ़ी बाजार में बंद का नेतृत्व विशुन ठाकुर, किशुन ठाकुर,इन्दु देवी, उमेश यादव, श्रीभगवान यादव, कमलेश यादव तथा श्रीराम यादव कर रहे थे। तरारी प्रखंड में खुटहां एवं फतेहपुर को जाम किया गया। नेतृत्व कामता प्रसाद, कृष्णा गुप्ता, मदन जी, राम दयाल पंडित एवं जनेश्वर सिंह कर रहे थे। पीरो में चन्द्रदीप सिंह, रामानुज, विन्देश्वरी सिंह, गड़हनी में विनोद मिश्रा, मुमताज, रामायण यादव, छपित राम, अवधेश पासवान, सहार प्रखंड में रमेश, मदन, रामदतराम, लालजी, चरपोखरी में बुद्धराम पासवान, टेगर राम, कैलाश पाठक, संदेश में परशुराम, नीलम कुंवर, अगिआंव में मनोज मंजील, रघुवर पासवान, सतीश यादव, विमल यादव, शाहपुर प्रखंड में हरेन्द्र सिंह एवं कोईलवर में नंदजी प्रसाद आंदोलन की कमान संभाले हुए थे।

सहरसा के पास हुए रेल हादसे का ठीकरा जहां केंद्र सरकार ने पूरी तरह नीतीश कुमार सरकार के सिर फोड़ दिया, वहीं भाजपा इसके लिए केंद्र को भी जिम्मेदार मानती है। पार्टी नेता रविशंकर प्रसाद ने कहा कि केंद्र इससे बच नहीं सकता। उन्होंने जांच कर दोषियों पर कार्रवाई की मांग की।
बिहार में हाल में हो रही घटनाओं के बाद अक्सर नीतीश सरकार पर हमलावर रही भाजपा ने सोमवार को उसे थोड़ी राहत दी। रविशंकर ने कहा, 'राज्य सरकार को ज्यादा सतर्क और संवेदनशील होना चाहिए था। लेकिन, केंद्र का यह तर्क नहीं माना जा सकता कि राज्य प्रशासन की ओर से रेलवे को उस क्षेत्र में चल रहे मेले की जानकारी नहीं दी गई थी। रेलवे का अपना स्टाफ होता है जो आसपास की जानकारी रखता है। केंद्र इस हादसे से अपना दामन नहीं बचा सकता। केंद्र और राज्य सरकार दोनों को सतर्क होना चाहिए था, लेकिन किसी ने भी अपनी पूरी जिम्मेदारी नहीं निभाई। घटना की पूरी जांच कर दोषियों के खिलाफ कार्रवाई होनी चाहिए। साथ ही हादसे के शिकार हुए लोगों के परिजनों को पर्याप्त क्षतिपूर्ति दी जानी चाहिए।'

Anil Kumar Agarwal, Divisional Railway Manager, South Western Railway, Bangalore, has said that the proposed special train between Yeshwantpur and Mangalore will be run only after sorting out issues connected to the “path of the train.” He clarified here on Monday that that the services were not cancelled on account of the election code of conduct for the bypolls to Mandya and Bangalore Rural Lok Sabha constituencies.

Services

The services of Yeshwantpur-Mangalore-Yeshwantpur Express Special were to begin on Sunday from Yeshwantpur and on Monday from Mangalore. It was to run till September 2.

The train was to pass through Tamil Nadu and Kerala before reaching Mangalore via Bangarpet, Kuppam, Jolarpettai, Erode, Tiruppur, Coimbatore, Palakkad, Shoranur, Kozhikode, Thalassery and Kannur.
