As announced in the Railway budget, Southern Railway will extend the Tiruchi-Mangalore Express up to Puducherry. The date from which the express train will be operated till Puducherry will be announced soon, said Rakesh Misra, General Manager, Southern Railway.After inspecting infrastructure in Puducherry railway station, Mr. Misra told reporters that they were working to arrive at the date for extending the train as early as possible.Similarly, the railways would soon introduce an express train to Tirupati from Puducherry in addition to the existing passenger train, he said.The Southern Railway has decided to set up a godown at CP Chamudram in Villupuram district but this site should be acceptable to both Puducherry and Tamil Nadu governments, he said, indicating the need for inter-governmental cooperation to speed up railway projects. Mr. Misra said that there was a need for a third platform in Puducherry to cater to the needs of increasing number of trains and officials have been asked to prepare a proposal.The reduced allocation of fund to the Southern Railway has affected many ongoing projects. The allocation, which stood at about Rs.1,100 crore about three years ago, was reduced to Rs. 550 crore this year. उत्तर- पश्चिम रेलवे के मंडल रेल प्रबंधक ((डीआरएम)) वीरेंद्र कुमार ने शुक्रवार को आला हजरत एक्सप्रेस ट्रेन से जयपुर- रेवाड़ी ट्रैक का विंडो निरीक्षण किया। इस दौरान उनके साथ सीनियर डीसीएम रत्नेश झा, सीनियर डीओएम गौरव गौड़ सहित अन्य अधिकारी थे। रेवाड़ी जाते समय डीआरएम वीरेंद्र कुमार ने बताया कि ट्रेन की छत पर बैठकर अनधिकृत रूप से यात्रा करने वालों के खिलाफ सख्त कार्रवाई की जाएगी। हालांकि चैकिंग अभियान भी चलाया जाता है। जिसके तहत छत पर बैठने वाले यात्रियों के खिलाफ कार्रवाई की जाती है। उन्होंने कहा कि स्टेशन पर यात्री सुविधा में और विस्तार किया जाएगा। |

ALLAHABAD: The Government Railway Police (GRP) on Friday claimed to have busted a human trafficking racket with the arrested of seven women from platform number 6 of Allahabad railway junction.The arrests were made when all the seven women had arrived at Allahabad railway junction from Mumbai Mail. The arrested women were identified as Reena of Dhanbad and Samina of Nasik besides Sita Bhandari, Samina Sheikh, Rizwana Sheikh, Sabeena Sheikh and Tamanna Sayeed from Mumbai. All these women had come to the city from Mumbai and were on their way to Kolkata. GRP officials said the kingpin of the racket, Sita Bhandari was taking these women to work in Kolkata's dance bars. The police became suspicious of the nature of the women's work when they found the latter indulging in obscene acts. Passengers traveling in Mumbai Mail too complained to GRP authorities about the behaviour of the women and asked them to take the women out of the compartment. The police subsequently interrogated and detained the women. A case under sections 294 and 504 of IPC has been registered in this connection. |

LUCKNOW: Public agitations and disruption of rail traffic due to this causes huge loss of revenue to railways besides public inconvenience. In 2011, Firozpur Division alone had to bear a loss of Rs 2.6 crore approximately due to Jat agitation in Punjab and Jammu Kashmir states only.On Friday, railway has appealed to general public to refrain from agitations as it cause great inconvenience to the rail passengers and huge loss to the railways as well.Due to agitation over Delhi Division on August 25, the 14311 Bareilly-Bhuj Ala Hazrat Express and 12916 Delhi Jn.- Ahmedabad Ashram Express trains suffered detention for 222 minutes, 19566 Dehradun-Okha Uttaranchal Express for 98 minutes, 12986 Delhi Sarai Rohilla- Jaipur Double Decker Express was regulated for 80 minutes, 14369 Singrauli- Bareilly Triveni Express for 65 minutes, 22212 Hazrat Nizamuddin-Ajmer Duronto Express for 170 minutes and 22471 Bikaner-Delhi Sarai Rohilla Intercity was regulated for 135 minutes and a number of passenger trains had to be short terminated or cancelled causing immense inconvenience to rail passengers.Similarly a group of about 40 ex. servicemen gathered near rail track between Butari and Beas stations on Firozpur Division on August 26 to raise their agitation for one rank one pension. As a result, 12029 New Delhi- Amritsar Swarn Shatabdi Express and 14650 Amritsar- Jayanagar Saru Yamuna Express suffered detention which caused great inconvenience to the rail passengers. |
