Jaipur: Now the Pink City has been permanently connected with Mathura via a rail link.

Lok Sabha member from Jaipur, Dr Mahesh Joshi on Wednesday flagged off the Jaipur-Mathura Express train from Jaipur railway station.

The Congress MP also flagged off the Jaipur-Udaipur Express train, which will render additional connectivity between the Pink City and the Lake City Udaipur, which are already connected via a night train service. The first train 51974 Jaipur-Mathura Junction train which was earlier being run as Mathura-Bandikui train, but extended during holiday season to Jaipur will now shuttle as a regular train between Mathura and Jaipur.

It will depart from Mathura at 6.55 am and reach Jaipur at 1.25 pm and make the return journey from Jaipur at 1.45 pm to reach Mathura at 8 pm.

The second train, Jaipur-Udaipur Express which earlier operated between Udaipur and Ajmer, but was extended to Jaipur during the holiday season, will now be regular train connecting Jaipur and Udaipur.

The train which will daily depart from Jaipur at 2 pm and reach Udaipur at 9.30 pm will make the return trip at 6.15 am from Udaipur to reach Jaipur at 1.50 pm.

फाजिल्का : फाजिल्का-अबोहर के बीच नवनिर्मित रेल ट्रैक पर गाड़ियां चलाने की मांग को लेकर नार्दर्न रेलवे पैसेंजर्स समिति और सांझा मोर्चा की ओर से की जा रही भूख हड़ताल 40वें दिन भी जारी रही। 40वें दिन श्रीराम संकीर्तन सभा मंदिर व फिरोजपुर की श्री ब्राह्माण सभाके पदाधिकारी व सदस्य भूख हड़ताल पर बैठे। भूख हड़तालियों में श्रीराम मंदिर के प्रधान केवल कृष्ण कामरा, कृष्ण सचदेवा, नत्थू राम शर्मा, राकेश कटारिया, रोशन लाल सेतिया, सतीश, दर्शन कामरा, शाम लाल वाट्स, फिरोजपुर की श्री ब्राह्माण सभा के हरी राम, पीडी शर्मा, केआर त्रिपाठी, शांति भूषण, कृष्ण चंद आदि शामिल थे। भूख हड़तालियों को सांझा मोर्चा के अध्यक्ष डा. एएल बाघला, राजपाल गुंबर, कामरेड शक्ति, इकबाल सिंह, जगदीश कटारिया, महेंद्र बावा व टैंपो यूनियन के प्रधान ने हार पहनाकर भूख हड़ताल पर बिठाया। अध्यक्ष डा. बाघला ने बताया कि दोनों धार्मिक संस्थाओं के पदाधिकारियों व सदस्यों ने भूख हड़ताल के दौरान सारा दिन भजन संकीर्तन का दौर जारी रखा।

KOLKATA: With the North 24-Parganas district judge virtually exonerating Pinki Pramanik of the rape charge while granting her bail on Tuesday, the former athlete's suspension from service with Eastern Railway is likely to be revoked soon. Eastern Railway officials have already got in touch with legal experts and the general opinion is that the results of the medical tests carried out on her should not be considered while taking a decision."Rape charges were leveled against her and she was arrested. As per rules, she was automatically suspended after spending 48 hours behind the bars. The complaint didn't accuse her of being male and the medical tests were carried out as per orders of the court. Now that the court has said that she is incapable of rape, we shall consider her innocent. It is not for us to scan the medical test reports," an official said.Though criminal charges have been leveled against railway staff in the past and they have been suspended, officials pointed out that they have never come across a case so complex. Though there are no plans till now to take disciplinary action against her, the situation could change if international sports bodies start probing whether she qualified as a woman when participating in meets where she won medals.

"We are keeping our fingers crossed. Things may get more complex if international sports bodies decide to take back her medals. The question that will be asked then is whether her appointment as a woman track and field sportsperson in 2003 was valid. Things may get tricky then. If the inquiries reveal that she was qualified to participate in events meant for women, there won't be a problem even if the situation has changed now," the official added.

Pinki joined the Sealdah division of Eastern Railway as a khalasi (a Group-D post) in 2003 when she was not even 17-years-old. Though rules don't allow the railways to hire minors, an exception was made in her case after talent spotters vouched that she was medal hope for the country. Within five years she got three promotions and was made a head travel ticker examiner. Before long, she shifted to the commercial department and joined as a ticket checker. After bagging gold medals in the Doha Asiad and a silver medal in the 2006 Commonwealth Games, Pinki received another boost. She got an out of turn promotion from ticket checker to travel ticket examiner. Though she missed most of the season in 2007 due to an injury, she got another out of turn promotion on May 15, 2008. This time round she was promoted to head travel ticket examiner on the recommendations of a senior official. She dashed the railways' hopes when she dropped out of the 2008 Olympics squad, citing a hamstring problem.

Officials in charge of the sports department in the railways weren't too surprised when the controversy over Pinki's gender arose recently. According to sources, after the Santhi Soundarajan incident, fingers were also pointed against Pinki. After that, the athlete was asked to maintain a low profile so far as competing in international sports meets was concerned.

A goods train carrying coal jumped off the track near here tonight, disrupting movement of trains, including Rajdhani Express, on the busy route between New Delhi and Howrah.Twenty six wagons of the train derailed at a place between Bhagua and Durgawati stations at around 2115 hours but there was no casualty or injury to drivers or guard of the train, Additional Divisional Railway Manager of Mughalsarai Ramesh Chandra said.The goods train was coming from Dhanbad to Mughalsarai junction.As the derailed wagons fell on both up and down tracks, the movement of trains on routes between New Delhi and Howrah and New Delhi and Sealdah was severely affected. Rajdhani Express trains from Howrah and Sealdah, which pass through the area at night, have been diverted via Patna and Gaya, Chandra said.Trains going from New Delhi to Howrah, Sealdah and Puri have also been asked to take Patna-Gaya routes.A relief train has been sent to the accident spot from Mughalsarai.Chandra said efforts are on to clear at least one track so that train movement can be partially resume.

  Indian Railways News  / Old CCTVs at Pune railway station of no use: GRP

After the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack, Pune railway station was brought under electronic surveillance by installing 34 CCTV cameras to keep an eye on passengers’ movement. However according to the government railway police (GRP) officials, many of these cameras are not working.Monitoring of these cameras is done by the Railway Protection Force (RPF).

However, according to the GRP, many of these cameras are not working. When contacted Inspector Mahendra Rokde, of Pune GRP, he said, “The cameras are very old and whenever we try to get some images from these CCTV through RPF, these images are not clear. Apart from that, these cameras are stationery and not moving due to which they are of no use.” Post the attack, railway administration took various decisions to beef up the security at railway stations and installation of CCTV cameras at railway stations was one of the important decisions.

These 34 CCTV which were installed, according to the Pune railway administration, cover the railway station. When DNA tried to contact RPF officials, they were not available for comment.
