No reservations will be available for passengers till 30th jne due to summer vacations, this rush creates such a huge pressure on NWR.

Starting half-a-dozen summer specials and adding extra coaches for various destinations by the authorities of North Western Railway (NWR), too has proved insufficient for the passengers.

The railway reservation counters at Jaipur station are witnessing long queues. Adding more to their woes are the snags in railway servers and poor response from the website.

Jammu Tawi which connects Jammu to Ajmer via Phulera is completely booked with the waiting list increasing every day. This is one train that is much in demand during summer holidays. There are passengers who want to reserve a berth in trains for Mumbai and Chennai. The trains for Mumbai and Chennai are also completely booked till June 30.

However, authorities maintained that adding coaches to various trains would be on till June 30 as per the demands of passengers after due permission from the railway board.

Destinations which have almost no tickets in any class till June 30 include Kanpur, Lucknow, Howrah, Mumbai, Chennai, Delhi, Jammu and Ludhiana.

This has led to fluctuating fare of flight tickets. The Jaipur-Delhi flight usually costs me around Rs 2,675. However, on Friday I had to pay Rs 6,500 for a flight to Delhi and while returning to Jaipur I paid Rs 6,325.

So those looking forward to travelling by train during summer holidays there is not much joy reason majority of the trains to key places from Jaipur have ‘no room vacant’ position.

A 24-year-old Mumbai-based woman lost her leg after she was allegedly thrown out of a train near Ambala while she returning from a holiday in Punjab, railway sources said. The incident took place last week.Victim Bhavika Mehta is now recuperating in the ICU of a hospital in suburban Mumbai. Bhavika and five of her family members had boarded the non-AC coach of an Amristar-Mumbai train. Around 1.30 a.m., she realised someone had snatched her bag. Since her seat was close to the door, she followed the thief. When she resisted, the thief pushed her and her left leg came under the wheels. A case has been registered with the Ambala railway police.

Suburban train travellers had a harrowing time before ticket booking counters on Monday, after several commercial staff responsible for issuing of tickets failed to turn up for work. The absentees were allegedly participating in a meeting organised under the aegis of a trade union in the city.Serpentine queues were formed in several railway stations bringing Moore Market Complex (MMC) to a standstill during the morning hours. “I have been waiting for several hours to buy a ticket, missing many trains in the meantime,” a passenger, who was spotted at MMC claimed. Apparently, the long queue for availing unreserved mail and express trains also escalated.According to sources, two counters at MMC did not function even as the authorities made temporary arrangements by allowing a facilitator for Automatic Ticket Vending Machines (ATVM) to offer tickets. A senior official at the booking office, who was supposed to oversee the operations, occupied the seat of commercial clerks to issue tickets following shortage of employees, sources added.With Monday being the first day of the week, office-goers were in a tough spot. “There was unusual crowd at the booking counter in Urappakkam railway station. Watching the unprecedented queue, frequent travellers said that they had never witnessed such a heavy crowd in recent memory,” a commuter claimed.When contacted, a senior railway official clarified that the booking counters were functioning with adequate staff. “Generally, heavy rush is reported during Mondays. Necessary railway employees were available at the booking counter, to serve the passengers” the official stressed.

HUBLI JUNE 12:  South Western Railway (SWR) has extended temporary stoppages at various railway stations for different trains which are to expire on June 30.
