Now railway passengers can transfer their confirmed tickets onto another person’s name however terms and conditions still say that that customers cannot transfer a berth or seat reserved in the name of the respective person.

Railway has announced that request for change in name of the ticket holding passengers would be granted only once.

Accordingly, government servants would be allowed to transfer their tickets to others.

Government servants can do this by submitting a written application.

“Where the passenger is a Government Servant, proceeding on duty and appropriate authority, makes a request in writing 24 hours before the scheduled departure of trains,” the railways said.

The other exception is that if a passenger would like to transfer the ticket to one of his or her family members provided a hand written request is made 24 hours before the scheduled departure time.

The third exception can be made by railways to students who can transfer his or her ticket to another student of the same educational institute provided a hand written application is given 48 hours prior. A fourth exception would be when passengers were traveling on account of a marriage event.

“Where the passengers are members of a marriage party and any person deemed to be Head of such party makes a request in writing 48 hours before the scheduled departure of the train that the reservation made in the name of any member of the marriage party be transferred to any other person,” the notice said.

Lastly the railways would allow change in the name of the ticket holding passengers on account of National Cadet Corps who makes such a request.

समस्तीपुर बिहार में  रेलवे कर्मचारी कि लापरवाही से सैकड़ों लीटर डीजल बर्बाद हो गया | जंक्शन के प्लेटफार्म तीन से डेमू ट्रेन संचालित होनी थी जिसके लिए उसमे डीजल भरा गया था | डीजल भरने के बाद भी पाइप को बंद नहीं किया गया जबकि ट्रेन रवाना हो चुकी थी और पाइप से सैकड़ों लीटर डीजल ऐसे ही नाले में बह गया | 
स्टेशन अधीक्षक को सूचना भी यात्रियों ने दी जिसके बाद स्टेशन कर्मियों द्वारा पाइप को बंद किया गया परन्तु तब तक बहुतायत में डीजल बर्बाद हो चुका था |

अजमेर-जयपुर और चेन्नई-बेंगलुरु के बीच चलने वाली शताब्दी एक्सप्रेस में किराया कम करने के सफल प्रयोग के बाद अब रेलवे अन्य स्टेशनों के बीच चलने वाली शताब्दी एक्सप्रेस का किराया कम करने का मन बना रहा है | दरअसल कम दूरी के यात्रियों के बीच शताब्दी एक्सप्रेस में चलने की रूचि कम होते देख रेलवे कम दूरी में चलने वाली शताब्दी एक्सप्रेस गाड़ियों के किराये कम कर सकता है | 
दरअसल शताब्दी एक्सप्रेस का किराया उसी मार्ग पर चलने वाली एसीबसों से ज्यादा है जिस कारण लोग बस से यात्रा करना ज्यादा उचित समझते हैं | हालात ये हो गए थे कि महज तीस प्रतिशत यात्री ही शताब्दी एक्सप्रेस में यात्रा करते हैं | किराया कम करने के प्रयोग के बाद रेलवे ने पाया कि पूरे सौ प्रतिशत लोग दोबारा शताब्दी एक्सप्रेस में सफर करने लगे हैं | 
लोगों द्वारा रेल छोड़कर सड़क मार्ग से यात्रा करने से होने वाला नुकसान रेलवे के लिए शुरू से चिंता का बड़ा कारण रहा है। हालांकि यात्रियों को ज्यादा से ज्यादा सुविधाएं प्रदान करने के रेलवे के प्रयासों का असर भी दिखने लगा है। 2016-17 में रेल से यात्रा करने वालों का आंकड़ा 1 फीसदी बढ़ा यानी 815.1 करोड़ यात्रियों से 822.1 करोड़ यात्री |\

Between Deogaon and Saintala of Sambalpur Division railway is taking up the modernisation work for Limited Height Subway on June 8. This will affect following train services for the day –

• 12893 Bhubaneswar – Balangir Express will be short terminated at Sambalpur and will return as 12894 Balangir – Bhubaneswar from Sambalpur.
• 58302 Koraput - Sambalpur passenger will depart late by 1:35 hours
• 58304 Junagarh - Sambalpur passenger will depart late by 1:15 hours

Due to line block of 3 hours on daily basis for 90 days from June 7 to September 18 except Sunday between Lachyan and Tadwal stations two passenger trains will be partially cancelled as per details –

• 56904 Dharwad - Solapur Passenger will be partially cancelled between Vijayapura and Solapur.
• 56905 Solapur - Hubballi Passenger will be partially cancelled between Solapur and Vijayapura.

Train number 12893 Bhubaneswar – Balangir Superfast Express will be partially cancelled today. This train will be terminated at Sambalpur and will not go Balangir. Departing Bhubaneswar at 06:45AM today in the morning this train arrives Samabalpur at 11:25AM the same day.

Besides Balangir, this train will also not go at following stations –

Hirakud, Bargarh Road, Barpali, Loisingha

Train number 22662 / 22661 Rameswaram – Chennai Egmore – Rameswaram express to run with extra coach from June 9 and train number 16723 / 16724 Chennai Egmore – Thiruvananthapuram – Chennai Egmore Anantapuri express to run with extra coach from June 10.
