Around Rs 1.27 lakh cash kept inside the railway ticket counter at Junction railway Station at Kottar near here on Sunday night has been reported missing from the counter.

According to sources, senior commercial clerk Muthuswamy Pandian was on duty at the ticket counter at Junction railway station on Sunday from 10 am to 8 pm. After finishing his work at around 8 pm, Pandian counted the cash amounting to Rs 1.27 lakh collected through ticket sale and kept it on a table behind him, sources said.

Meanwhile, after keeping the money on the table, Muthuswamy Pandian started checking the accounts. During the course of work, when he turned back, he was shocked to find the cash kept on the table missing, said railway police.

On information railway police led by Inspector Paulraj rushed to the ticket counter and conducted an enquiry. Except railway staff, none other could enter the ticket counter and the table in which Pandian was said to have kept the cash was also not approachable through the ticket counter opening, said railway police.

Subsequently, the railway police conducted an enquiry with three railway employees who were at the ticket counter when the incident occurred on Sunday. Following a complaint from Pandian, railway police filed a FIR and are investigating.

रेलवे ने फ्यूल एडजेस्टमेंट कंपोनेंट के तहत किराए में वृद्धि की है। अब साकेत एक्सप्रेस से मुंबई जाने के लिए स्लीपर में पूरे 500 रुपये देेने होंगे साथ ही एसी सेकेंड में 40 व थर्ड में 25 रुपये ज्यादा देने होंगे। उद्योग नगरी से मुंबई जाने के लिए स्लीपर में 560 की जगह 575 रुपये देने होंगे। इसके एसी थर्ड में 30 व एसी सेकेंड में 45 रुपये अधिक देने होंगे। दिल्ली जाने वाली गाड़ियों के किराए में भी वृद्धि हुई है। पद्मावत की यात्रा के लिए अब 305 की जगह 310 रुपये का टिकट बनवाना होगा। एसी थर्ड में 15 व सेकेंड में 20 रुपये अधिक देने होंगे। काशी विश्वनाथ से यात्रा करने में 305 की जगह 315 रुपये देनें होंगे। एसी थर्ड में 25 व थर्ड में 35 रुपये अधिक लगेंगे। इसके अलावा गरीब रथ से दिल्ली जाने के लिए 615 की जगह 625 का टिकट बनवाना पड़ेगा। पंजाब मेल से दिल्ली जाने में 370 की जगह 375 रुपये लगेेंगे। इसके अलावा हावड़ा जैसलमेर एक्सप्रेस से भी पूर्व टिकट के मूल्य से 10 रुपये अधिक लगेगा। किराए में बढ़ोतरी की फीडिंग हो गई है। सोमवार सुबह से ही बढ़ा हुआ किराया लिया जाने लगा है।
जनरल डिब्बों में सफर करने वालों के कुछ रूटों पर मेल और पैसेंजर ट्रेनों के टिकटों के दाम बढ़े हैं। पैसेंजर ट्रेन से लखनऊ जाने के लिए अब यात्रियों को 30 की जगह 35 रुपये देने होेंगे। रायबरेली तक मेल से जाने पर 40 रुपये की बजाए 45 रुपये देने होंगे जबकि मेल से लखनऊ जाने के लिए पुराना किराया ही लागू किया गया है। इसी तरह प्रतापगढ़ से मऊआइमा जाने का किराया 5 से 10 रुपये कर दिया गया है लेकिन इलाहाबाद का किराया समान रखा गया है। इसके अलावा कानपुर, बनारस, फैजाबाद के टिकट के दाम पूर्ववत हैं।

रेल्वे विभागाने अचानक रविवारी मध्य रात्रीपासून रेल्वेच्या प्रवास दरात दोन टक्क्यांची वाढ केली. सचखंड एक्सप्रेसने औरंगाबाद ते दिल्ली प्रवास करणाऱ्या प्रवाशांना प्रत्ये‌क तिकिटाच्या मागे दहा ते तीस रूपये अतिरिक्त पैसे प्रवासादरम्यान भरावे लागले. याशिवाय दररोज नियमित प्रवास करणाऱ्यांच्या तिकिटामध्ये ३० रुपयांवरील तिकिटावर एक रूपया वाढीने तिकिट घ्यावे लागले आहे. रेल्वेचे दर दोन टक्क्याने वाढविण्यात आले आहे. जुन्या दरात तिकिट घेऊन सोमवारी प्रवास करणाऱ्या प्रवाशांकडून पैसे वसूल करण्यासाठी रेल्वे स्थानकावर विशेष तिकिट तपासणी अधिकारी किंवा पर्यवेक्षकाची नेमणूक करण्यात येत होती. याशिवाय , प्रवासादरम्यान प्रवाशांकडून तिकिट तपासणी अधिकारी यांनी वाढीव दराप्रमाणे तिकिटावरील वाढीव पैसे वसूल करून त्यांना पावती देण्यात येत असल्याची माहिती नांदेड रेल्वे विभागाचे वाणिज्यिक विभागाचे चार्ल्स हेरेंज यांनी दिली.

Hundreds of Railway employees took out a protest march against the alleged move by the Railways to shut down the diesel loco shed at the Ernakulam Junction station here on Monday. This diesel shed which was set up in 1982 is Kerala’s only diesel engine  maintenance facility. The shed handles at least six diesel engines, including the engines of trains travelling through unelectrified routes such as the Konkon Railways and Palakkad along with a few places in Thiruvanthapuram.

SRMU divisional president P Unnikrishnan, who inaugurated the protest at the diesel loco shed, said the Southern Railways General Manager has already submitted a proposal to the Railway Board to set up an AC loco shed for electric engines in lieu of the existing diesel shed. The 20-crore project, a proposal made by the Southern Railways General Manager to the Railway Board, if sanctioned will be a major threat to the 350 employees working at the diesel shed as the staff strength would be reduced to less than half of the current one. He said that the move was political in nature as there are talks to set up a diesel loco shed at Mangalore instead. “We have no issues against the setting up of an AC loco shed. However, the diesel loco shed should be maintained in its place,” he said.

He added that it was the responsibility of the management to take the employees into confidence.  We demand that the management either withdraw the move or hold talks with us in this regard to allay the fears of the employees, he added.

Meanwhile, fearing further agitations from the side of the employees, Senior Divisional Mechanical Engineer said that no move to close down the shed will be taken in the near future. Union members said that they would continue the agitations if they feel that they are not taken into confidence prior to the move.

Rail and air traffic beside emergencies like medical services have been badly hit due to lack of electricity. Tirupati and Vijayawada airports are running on backup power.

Despite severe hardships, people and state employees in Rayalaseema and coastal Andhra regions relentlessly continue their agitation protesting against the Union Cabinet's decision to bifurcate the state.

In an attempt to mount pressure on the central government, four Union ministers from Seemandhra region met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in the national capital on Monday and requested him to accept their resignations over Telangana creation.

Union tourism minister K Chiranjeevi, Union human resource and development (HRD) minister M M Pallam Raju, minister of state for commerce D Purandeswari and minister of state for railways Surya Prakash Reddy met the Prime Minister and pressed for acceptance of their resignations.

"We, in detail, gave him (Prime Minister) a clear picture of the ground situation in Andhra (Pradesh). And, we have requested him to kindly accept our resignations, and we also told him that the people of Andhra Pradesh did expect the Antony Committee to come to the state of Andhra Pradesh but since the Antony Committee has not come, now the people are losing confidence that justice would be done to them," said Purandeswari, according to ANI.

The Prime Minister told them that he will look into their request.

Meanwhile, curfew in Vizianagaram town was eased for an hour on Tuesday morning after normalcy began to return in the violence-hit area even as strict vigil was being maintained during the relaxation period, PTI reported. Curfew was clamped in Vizianagaram town on Saturday night in wake of large-scale violence by anti-bifurcation agitators who remained unabated and clashed with police on Monday also.
