A goods train went off the rails at Vizianagaram railway station on platform No. 5 when passengers were waiting for Rayagada passenger.  At that time the goods train carrying gypsum from Visakhapatnam to Rayagada was passing.  Seven bogies of the train were derailed with a great sound burst as the bogies tilted to one side.  Railway tracks plunged in the air for 15 meters and fell with a thud.Passengers on the platforms ran to all sides in panic when the incident took place suddenly.  But later they heaved a sigh as no loss to life happened. The railway officers rushed to the spot and took stock of the situation.The repair work is taken up in the night on war foot so that all of it will cleared by Tuesday morning.

MANGALORE: Trains from Mangalore will be affected as there will be a line block for 160 minutes from 12.40pm to 3pm October 2 and two hours from 12.40pm to 2.40pm October 3 and 4 in view of construction of Road Over Bridge between Tanur and Tirur on both Up and Down Lines.The pattern of service on October 2 is as follows: Train 56324 Mangalore Central-Pallippuram Passenger Special will be terminated at Kozhikode and will run as 56323 Passenger Special from Kozhikode to Mangalore Central and Train 12617 Ernakulam-Nizamuddin Mangala Express, Train 16650 Nageroil-Mangalore Parasuram Express, Train 16606 Kuttipuram-Mangalore Express Special and Train 16859 Egmore-Mangalore Express will be regulated for 30 minutes between Shoranur and Tirur.The pattern of service on October 3 and 4 is as follows: Train 56324 Mangalore Central-Pallippuram Passenger Special will be terminated at Kozhikode and will run as 56323 Passenger Special from Kozhikode to Mangalore Central and Train 16650 Nageroil-Mangalore Parasuram Express, Train 16606 Kuttipuram-Mangalore Express Special will be regulated for 15 minutes between Kuttipuam and Tirur.This is in addition to the train cancellation/regulation of trains in connection with Shoranur Non Interlocked working.

AC SUPERFAST SPECIAL TRAIN BETWEEN LTT & HAZARAT NIZAMUDDIN



Central Railway has decided to run 2 Air-conditioned Superfast special trains between Lokmanya Tilak Terminus and Hazarat Nizamuddin to clear the extra rush of passengers.The details are as under –



02109 AC Superfast special train will leave Lokmanya Tilak Terminus o­n Tuesday 08.10.2013 at 14.30 hrs and arrive Hazarat Nizamuddin at 10.20 hrs next day.



02110 AC Superfast special train will leave Hazarat Nizamuddin o­n Wednesday 09.10.2013 at 15.50 hrs and arrive Lokmanya Tilak Terminus at 11.50 hrs next day.



Halts: Nasik Road, Bhusawal, Bhopal, Jhansi, Gwalior and Agra Cantonement.

   

Composition: o­ne AC First Class, Three AC-2 tier, Ten AC-3 tier, 2 Generators cum guard’s brake vans and o­ne Pantry car.

கோட்டார் ரெயில் நிலையத்திலிருந்து திருவனந்தபுரம் மார்க்கமாக செல்லும் குருவாயூர் மற்றும் மும்பை எக்ஸ்பிரஸ் ரெயில்கள் தாமதமானாலும் அங்கு புறப்பட்டு சென்றதால் அந்த வழியாக கேரளா செல்லும் பயணிகள் அந்த ரெயில்களில் ஏறிச்சென்று விட்டனர்.

ஆனால் திருநெல்வேலி மார்க்கமாக செல்ல வேண்டிய பயணிகளுக்கு ரெயில்வே அதிகாரிகள் எந்த ஏற்பாடும் செய்யவில்லை. இதனால் நெல்லை மற்றும் அதை சுற்றியுள்ள நகரங்களில் வேலைக்கு செல்லும் ஊழியர்கள் பெரிதும் அவதிக்கு ஆளானார்கள்.

அவர்கள், ரெயில்வே அதிகாரிகளை முற்றுகையிட்டு வாக்குவாதத்தில் ஈடுபட்டனர். இதனால் ரெயில் நிலையத்தில் பெரும் பரபரப்பு ஏற்பட்டது.

இந்த தகவல் அறிந்து ஹெலன்டேவிட்சன் எம்.பி.யும் ரெயில்நிலையத்திற்கு வந்து அதிகாரிகளுடன் பேச்சுவார்த்தை நடத்தினார். அவர்கள் உயர் அதிகாரிகளை தொடர்பு கொள்ளும்படி கூறியதால் அவர், திருவனந்தபுரத்தில் உள்ள உயர் அதிகாரிகளை செல்போனில் தொடர்பு கொண்டார்.

ஆனால் எந்த அதிகாரியையும் தொடர்பு கொள்ள முடியவில்லை. இதுபற்றி ஹெலன் டேவிட்சன் எம்.பி. கூறியதாவது:–

கோட்டார் ரெயில் நிலைய பிரச்சினைகளை பேசி தீர்க்க பலமுறை முயற்சி மேற்கொண்டு வருகிறோம். ஆனால் உயர் அதிகாரிகள் இதற்கு ஒத்துழைப்பு அளிப்பது இல்லை. இதனால் பயணிகளுக்கு பெரும் பாதிப்பு ஏற்படுகிறது.

அதிகாரிகள் ஒத்துழைததால்தான் பிரச்சினை முடிவுக்கு வரும். இதுபற்றி மீண்டும் நான் உயர் அதிகாரிகளை சந்தித்து புகார் செய்வேன்.

Mega Health Check Up Camp for Women Conducted at Railway Health Unit, Kacheguda


South Central Railway organised a “Mega Health Check Up Camp for Women Railway Beneficiaries” at Railway Health Unit, Kacheguda recently with the active participation of Apollo Hospital, Hyderabad and SCR Employees Sangh. Dr S K Gupta, Chief Medical Director, SCR was the Chief Guest at the Health Camp. Shri Rajkumar, Addl. Divisional Railway Manager, Hyderabad Division, SCR and Smt. Padma Rajkumar, Vice President, SCRWomens Welfare Orgnisation, Hyderabad Division, were the Guests of Honour. Shri. Prabhakar Andrews, Zonal President, South Central Railway Employees Sangh,and Shri. K.Bhikshapati Divisional Secretary, South Central Railway Employees Sangh, Hyderabad Division also participated as special guests. Dr. S K Gupta, inaugurated the exhibition stall of “Home Cooked Balanced Diet” brought by the residents of Kacheguda Railway Colony and released Health Posters.

While addressing, the participants, Dr. S.K. Gupta spoke o­n the importance of screening programmes for early detection of many diseases and praised the medical team of Hyderabad Division for organizing the camp. Shri. Rajkumar expressed his happiness for conducting such a big camp for women with active participation of trade union and said this is perfect example for excellent co-operation between management and trade unions.

The camp started with testing for fasting blood sugar and Yoga training in the early morning .250 women have participated in the camp. 245 Women were screened for pap smears and breast examination by specialists from SCR Central Hospital / Lallaguda. Dr. Ramesh, Additional Chief Medical Superintendent, Moula-Alihave examined the women for Hypertension and other ailments. Blood testing for Hb%, HbA1C and RBS were also done. Dr. M. Ravikumar Chief Medical Superintendent, Hyderabad Division presided over for the Health and Cancer awareness stage program.

A Quiz program was conducted for the participants followed by Guest lecturers byDr. K. Nagasundari, Additional Chief Health Director, (Gynaec); Dr.Damayanti, Deputy Director, National Institute of Nutrition, Dr. Vineeta, o­ncologist, Apollo Hospitals o­n various health subjects beneficial to women.

Ever since the Samaikyandhra agitation commenced, railway stations and trains towards the Seemandhra region are teeming with passengers. As a result, passenger traffic has increased considerably across the South Central Railway (SCR) limits and so have the revenues.

With RTC buses confined to respective depots and private bus operations also hit due to the 60-day-old agitation, most commuters are forced to travel only in trains to reach their destinations. This has led to a significant rise in passenger traffic across the SCR limits.

In August 2013, the passenger traffic increased by 7.58 per cent as 336 lakh travelled in different trains, as compared to 312 lakh travellers in August 2012. In this month, the average passenger traffic increased to 11.40 lakh passengers per day against 9.74 lakh per day recorded in September 2012.

‘Risky affair’

“Given the situation, it is risky to travel in private buses. One has to either travel in trains or depend on personal transport. Travelling in trains is surely more comfortable,” says K. Ashwin Kumar, a regular commuter from Hyderabad to Vijayawada.

Among the six divisions in SCR, the passenger traffic increased mostly in Guntakal division (37 per cent), which covers Tirupati, Kadapa, Anantapur and other places, Guntur division (34 per cent) that covers Prakasam, Kurnool and other places and Vijayawada division (29 per cent) covering coastal districts, Anankapalli and other places.

Passenger flow

It provides a glimpse of the passenger flow towards Seemandhra region and commuters preference to travel in trains.

To avoid inconvenience to passengers, the SCR is operating many special trains and attached several extra coaches in different trains. Emphasis is always on passenger convenience than revenue, says a senior railway official.

The SCR authorities say revenues too increased due to the rise in passenger traffic and other reasons, including fare hike. In August 2012, the SCR had earned Rs.180 crore and this jumped to Rs.227 crore in August 2013. Similarly, in the first 23 days of this month, the revenue has already swelled to Rs.188 crore against the Rs.140 crore in September 2012.

पुरुलिया : पुरुलिया के यात्रियों को सुविधा प्रदान करने के उद्देश्य से रूपसी बांग्ला सुपरफास्ट एक्सप्रेस ट्रेन को रेलवे ने हावड़ा तक संप्रसारित कर दिया है। पूर्व में इसे सांतरागाछी तक चलाने का एलान किया गया था। बाघमुंडी विधायक नेपाल महतो ने रेलवे को इस फैसले को बदलने के लिए राष्ट्रपति को ज्ञापन भेजा था। रेलवे ने पहली अक्टूबर से इस ट्रेन को हावड़ा तक संप्रसारित करने का निर्णय लिया है, जिससे यात्रियों में हर्ष है।

Jolarpet-Hosur rail link a non-starter yet

To board a train residents have to trek 35 km

KRISHNAGIRI: For the people of Krishnagiri district isolated from the mainstream connectivity rail link between Jolarpet and Hosur remains a distant dream. The district headquarters has no rail connectivity barring the network of National Highways connecting Bangalore and other major cities. The present rail link in the district skirts Rayakottai and Hosur to reach Bangalore. To board a train the residents have to travel to Rayakottai, 35 km away.

Realising its importance a feasibility study was undertaken on providing a rail link between Jolarpet and Hosur but it was kept in the cold storage. A project initiated during the period of Narasimhan, Congress MP in 1998, is now gathering dust due to inordinate delay in getting financial sanction and approval from the Ministry of Railways.

Government nod

The Railways will introduce the Tatkal scheme in many passenger trains to help travellers avail themselves of the emergency reservation facility. Till now, the facility is available for Mail and Express trains, including premier services such as Rajdhani, Duronto and Shatabdi. Tatkal reservation can be made in all reserved classes except the AC first class.
