Bhilwara (Rajasthan) : Congress Party President and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi on Sunday laid the foundation stone for a Mainline Electric Multiple Unit (MEMU) coach factory here today, and said that her party was committed to empowering all sections of society, especially the poor, in India. "The Congress Party is the only party which works for the development of all sections of society; we especially support the poor," Gandhi said."The Congress is continually committed to development and progress in the region, so as to enable the people economically and give them progress and development," she added.Saying that the MEMU project would bring development to the district, Gandhi said that the Congress initiative fell in line with its overall project of enabling the youth of the country."The commencement of the Mainline Electric Multiple Unit project will not only help the district flourish economically, but will also provide an opportunity for employment for the youth," Gandhi said. "The Congress Party is committed to development and progress, and to ensure that everyone in the country is empowered," she added.Earlier today, the Congress President laid the foundation stone of refinery and petro-chemical complex at Pachpadra in Rajasthan's Barmer district.The Union Cabinet on Friday approved setting up of a nine million tonne refinery-cum-petrochemical complex by Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL's) in Barmer.

The proposed refinery will be a subsidiary of HPCL with its equity of 74 percent to be held by HPCL and 26 percent to be held by the Govt. of Rajasthan.

The cost of the project is estimated at Rs. 37,230 crore. The project cost is proposed to be sourced with a detbt/equity ratio of 1.5:1. Total equity component is Rs.14,892 crore and debt is Rs.22,338 crore. HPCL's equity contribution is Rs.11,020 crore at 74 percent equity and Govt. of Rajasthan's equity contribution is Rs.3,872 crore at 26 percent.

M/s. HPCL has signed a Memorandum of Understanding on 14th May, 2013 with Govt. of Rajasthan in this regard. HPCL has subsequently also signed a JV agreement with Govt. of Rajasthan on 11th July, 2013 on these terms for setting up the refinery as a joint venture. The proposed refinery will process 4.5 MMT of Mangala Crude and 4.5 MMT of Arab/other crude(s).

There shall be a direct and indirect economic benefit to the economy of Rajasthan , which shall, besides industrialization, result in substantial increase in income, output, employment and tax earnings of the State. (ANI)

होशियारपुर को टांडा और ऊना रेल मार्ग से जोड़ने के लिए सर्वे के बाद मंजूरी के लिए राष्ट्रीय योजना आयोग के पास भेज दिया गया है। यह जानकारी केंद्रीय स्वास्थ्य राज्यमंत्री संतोष चौधरी ने दी। वह रविवार को होशियारपुर रेलवे स्टेशन का मुआयना करने के बाद त्रकारों से बातचीत कर रही थीं। वह यहां दो अक्टूबर को होशियारपुर-दिल्ली रेल सेवा शुरू करने की तैयारी का जायजा लेने के लिए आई थीं।
चौधरी ने निरीक्षण के दौरान फिरोजपुर मंडल के डीआरएम एनसी गोयल को कहा कि रेलवे स्टेशन पर यात्रियों की सुविधा के लिए बैठने और शौचालय आदि का प्रबंध करने के अलावा महिलाओं के विश्राम घर में कुर्सियों का प्रबंध करने को कहा। उन्होंने कहा कि सफाई का विशेष ध्यान रखा जाए। उन्होंने स्टेशन सुपरिंटेडेंट विद्या सागर को हिदायत की कि यात्रियों की सुविधा को देखते हुए एक और टिकट काउंटर खोलने का प्रयास करें। उन्होंने बताया कि होशियारपुर रेलवे स्टेशन से पहले जालंधर के लिए ही लोकल ट्रेन चलाई जा रही थी। इस बाद होशियारपुर से फिरोजपुर व अमृतसर के लिए सीधी रेल चलाई गई और अब दो अक्टूबर को होशियारपुर से दिल्ली रेल सुविधा शुरू की जा रही है। सोनालिका ग्रुप के एमडी दीपक मित्तल के नेतृत्व में चलाए जा रहे क्लीन एंड ग्रीन के इंचार्ज एसके पोंबरा ने बताया कि वन विभाग व नगर परिषद के सहयोग से रेलवे स्टेशन के पार्क व सफाई अभियान चलाया जाएगा और इसको हरा भरा बनाने के लिए पौधे लगाए जाएंगे।
इस मौके पर रेल विभाग के डिवीजन सेक्शनल इंजीनियर अशोक शर्मा, सहायक डिवीजन सेक्शनल इंजीनियर दिनेश कुमार शर्मा, सोनालिका के वाइस प्रेजीडेंट राकेश अग्रवाल, पूर्व विधायक चौधरी राम लुभाया, सोनी चौधरी, ओंकार सिंह मेजर, ब्रह्मशंकर जिंपा, कृष्णा सैनी, ठेकेदार महिंदर पाल, दलजीत सिंह खरदेहड़, रोहित खुल्लर, गुरइकबाल सिंह बोदल, विमल कुमार व चरनजीत सिंह भी मौजूद थे।

A team of officials recently inspected the site marked out for an overbridge at the busy Mulanthuruthy level crossing.The inspection was jointly conducted by the department of revenue, the Railways and Roads and Bridges Development Corporation (RBDCK) of Kerala.The biggest hurdle for the project is land acquisition. According to revenue department sources, as the urgency clause is not being invoked, acquisition of 1.5 acres for the project would be time-consuming.An official said it would take a minimum of six months. This includes time to hold two statutory hearings and issue notices. It is learnt that only two existing buildings will be affected by the land acquisition.Sources in RBDCK, which will build the bridge, said work could begin as soon as land was handed over to the corporation. The Railways has approved the general arrangement drawing.Despite widespread calls for a rail over-bridge at the busy level crossing, people in Mulanthuruthy have expressed scepticism over work starting soon.

A senior functionary of the CPI(M)’s local unit, a strong force behind the demand for the overbridge, said the joint inspection was an attempt to hoodwink the people.

C.K. Regi, local area secretary, said whenever there was alarming news about the level crossing, officials visited the spot. The latest inspection follows reports that a serious accident was averted at the level crossing last week, he said.

An iron pillar at the rail crossing got stuck to a KSRTC bus even as a train was about to pass by. The train came to a halt just in time to prevent a serious accident. Such incidents occurred frequently at the crossing, said a man familiar with the busy road used by thousands of motorists to ply between Ernakulam and Kottayam. Kannan, who operates a pick-and-drop service for a software developer at Infopark, said he often could reach his destination on time because of the heavy train traffic on the line.

He said the number of vehicles using the crossing had increased substantially. Heavy traffic to the airport and movement of large goods carriers had added to the problem.

The railway gate sometimes got jammed, holding up traffic for hours. Kuriakose, who lives near the railway gate, said the gate needed repair as speeding vehicles often rammed it.

Coimbatore Railway Struggle Committee has appealed to the Salem Divisional Railway Manager Sujatha Jayaraj to represent to the Railway Board for a commercial stop for the Coimbatore – Rajkot – Coimbatore Express at Mantralayam Road.In a representation, the committee’s office-bearers G.K. Nagaraj and R. Raveendran said Train Number 16613 from Rajkot to Coimbatore leaves Rajkot on Sunday at 5 a.m. and reaches Coimbatore on Tuesdays at 2 a.m.En route, the train stops at Mantralayam Road from 7.57 a.m. to 8.12 a.m. and is treated as a technical stop. Being a technical stop, commuters cannot book tickets from Mantralayam Road.In the opposite direction, Train Number 16614 leaves Coimbatore on Thursdays at 11.45 p.m. and reaches Rajkot on Saturdays at 5 p.m.

The train passes through Mantralayam around 2.30 p.m. on Fridays.

But there is no technical halt for the train at Mantralayam Road.

Devotees of Sri Raghavendra from this region and travelling to Mantralayam Road have two daily trains connections. Train Number 16832 from Kanyakumari to Mumbai Chatrapathi Shivaji Terminal and Train Number 11014 Coimbatore – Lokmanya Tilak Terminus Kurla Express. If the Coimbatore – Rajkot – Coimbatore Express trains are given a two-minute commercial stoppage, it will benefit hundreds of devotees. Rail activist S. Ravi wanted Railways to consider routing this train via Bangalore to provide additional train connectivity for Coimbatore.

Agrawal, General Manager, North Western Railway along with Head of Departments and other Hon'ble members of civil society also graced the occasion.

MEMU Coach Factory has been approved in the Rail Budget 2013-14 at an estimated cost of Rs. 800 crore. This factory is a joint effort of Indian Railways, Government of Rajasthan and BHEL. MOU between Ministry of Railways and BHEL was signed for setting up for this factory on 25.02.2013. MOU between Ministry of Railways and Government of Rajasthan for providing 518 acres of land free of cost for setting up for this factory was signed on 21.09.2013.

Once operational, this factory will meet the demand of MEMU Coaches on Indian Railways to a large extent. Besides, it will generate direct and indirect employment & give thrust to area development. With establishment of the factory Bhilwara will now have a new identity that of MEMU Coach Factory, besides being a textile city.

Entire cost of this factory will be incurred by BHEL. Presently the only source manufacturing of the MEMU coaches is Rail Coach Factory (RCF), Kapurthala of Indian Railways, which has been manufacturing about 112 coaches per year. The new factory in Bhilwara will further facilitate the supply of additional MEMU coaches required by Indian Railways.

MEMU trains are very popular in non suburban sections. These trains are usually used by local commuters to commute from nearby rural areas and small towns to bigger cities for work. They have higher carrying capacity. MEMU trains ensure a better and economical mode of transport for people to commute daily for the livelihood. These trains are more powerful and have faster acceleration and deceleration as compared to conventional trains. This results in less running time resulting in saving of 30 percent in energy consumption. These trains are equipped with toilet and are vestibuled for greater passenger comfort.

Recently, Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh laid foundation stone of ambitious second part of the first phase of Jaipur Metro's underground Metro Rail line from Chandpole to Bari-Chaupar.

Part 'B' of the first phase of the metro rail project to cover Chandpole to Choti Chaupar and Bari Chaupar.

In this context, the Union Ministry of Urban Development has approved in principle Metro project for second largest city of the state-Jodhpur. There are also plans to connect National Capital Region (NCR) with Alwar with a high speed train.

Under the first phase of Jaipur Metro 'East-West Corridor " has taken up under which 9.718 km metro line work from Chandpole to Mansarovar is moving toward completion.

In the part 'B'of first phase 2.349 kilometer underground metro rail will be built up. In first phase there are 8 elevated stations including Mansarovar, New Atish Market, Vivek Vihar, Shyam Nagar, Ram Nagar, Civil Lines, Railway Station and Sindhi Camp and three underground stations Chandpole, Choti Choupar and Bari choupar will be covered. Phase II of Jaipur Metro has been named 'North-South Corridor'.

The route will prolong 23.099 km and go Sitapur to Ambabadi. The second phase is estimated to cost Rs 6583 crore.

The cost of the first phase of the project is Rs 3140 crore. A total 40 coaches for 10 trains Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML), Bangalore has been assigned, on which Rs 500 crore is being spent. Each compartment has a cost of Rs 12.5 crore.

Thus, according Rs 50 crore for a train of 10 carriages cost Rs. 500 crore. The important fact is that the train is designed and built entirely in India. Earlier all trains were built in coloration of foreign companies. The first train of four coaches arrived pink city in May 2013 and the second on July 5 in this year.

In Jaipur Metro coach's disc brake technique has been used, thereby travelers do not feel shocks when stopping travel. In addition, each compartment has fitted 46 kw heating ventilation and air conditioning systems.

The cooling effect of heat and intense heating during the winter season will provide comfort to the passengers. Safety and security in Jaipur Metro coaches have to use sophisticated and advanced technology.

In any emergency in each compartment 'Passenger Emergency Alarm Handel' can be used. And to assist passengers in the metro effective lighting system have been also provided. (ANI)

Secunderabad: A bogie of the Kanyakumari-Howrah Express derailed in the wee hours today when a cattle herd strayed on railway track near Kavali station.

No injuries or casualties were reported in the incident involving a second class luggage coach carrying around 25 passengers at the time of the incident, according to a South Central Railway (SCR) release. “Timely response by the railway engine personnel today averted a possible major mishap when four wheels of the coach of Kanyakumari-Howrah Express (No 12666), next to the engine, derailed between Sri Venkateshwarapalem and Kavali stations on Gudur-Vijayawada down-line section at 2.40 a.m,” the release said.

The incident occurred when a herd of cattle, strayed on the railway track, was mowed down by the speeding train. “On noticing the herd on track, the driver immediately applied emergency brakes,” the release said.

The train, running at a speed of around 72 kmph at the time of the incident, was deftly brought under control and stopped quickly by the loco pilots within a short distance, according to SCR. According to the release, four wheels of the coach derailed as they got entangled with the carcass of the cattle. “Around 25 passengers were shifted by the onboard railway staff to adjacent coaches of the train,” the release said

Western Railway Introdues Weekly Express between Okha & Nathdwara


For the convenience of the passengers, Western Railway has decided to introduce a Weekly Express train between Okha and Nathdwara. The introductory service of Train no 09575 Okha-Nathdwara Express will depart from Okha at 16.30 hrs o­n 24th September, 2013. It will reach Nathdwara at 17.20 hrs the next day. The introductory service of Train no 09576 Nathdwara-Okha Express will depart from Nathdwara at 08.30 hrs o­n 26thSeptember, 2013. It will reach Okhaat 07.30 hrs the next day.

 

On its regular run, Train No.19575 Okha-Nathdwara Weekly Express will leave Okha o­n every Saturday at 07.15 hrs to reach Nathdwara the next day at 05.50 hrs from 28th September, 2013. Similarly, in return direction, Train No.19576 Nathdwara-Okha Weekly Express will depart from Nathdwara o­n everySundayat 21.40hrs and arrive Okhaat21.10 hrs thenext dayfrom 29thSeptember,2013 .


The train will have AC II, AC III, Sleeper class and II class general coaches.



This train will halt at Dwarka, Khambhaliya, Jamnagar, Hapa, Rajkot, Wankaner,Surendranagar, Ahmedabad, Nadiad, Anand, Vadodara, Dahod,Ratlam, Mandsor, Nimach, Chittaurgarh and Mavli Jn. stations in both directions.



Booking for Inaugural run of Train no. 09575 will be o­n 24/09/2013 and for regular Train 19575 will be from 25/09/2013.
