The Indian Railways is set to go green by rolling out engines fuelled by environment friendly and cost-effective liquefied natural gas (LNG).

Though in the preliminary stage, the railways -- which currently uses coal, diesel and electricity as fuels -- gradually plans to switch over to the globally recognised natural gas powered locomotives.

The Research Design and Standards Organisation (RDSO) -the Lucknow research wing of the Railways -- is working on development of a prototype of an LNG-powered locomotive, as part of its efforts to adopt environment-friendly and costeffective alternative fuels.

“Once the prototype is proven on the field, the Railways plans to build another 20 LNG-based locomotives on the same concept,” said AK Mathur, spokesperson, RDSO.

It would take another 2-3 years for putting the locomotives for commercial usage, after passing all the safety tests, he added.

With the introduction of this technology, the Railways expects a 50% reduction in operating costs of locomotives. In addition, there would be an elimination of smoke from the locomotives and significant reductions in other regulated and unregulated emissions.

“Once the Railways switches over completely to natural gas as fuel for its diesel locomotives, it would amount to only 2.2 % of India’s annual natural gas consumption of 81 million tonnes and therefore commercially feasible,” said a railway official.

At present, Indian Railways uses coal, diesel and electricity as fuels for running its fleet of locomotives. Prices of both these fuels have been rising rapidly due to increasing prices of crude oil and imported coal, devaluation of the rupee and such factors that, apart from environment concerns, has prompted the public carrier to think of an alternate fuel.

Already, a short distance diesel electrical multiple unit (DEMU) has been converted into a compressed natural gas (CNG) driven locomotive in Shakoor Basti in Delhi. The concept would be soon replicated in 40 other trains.

“CNG is used for short distances while LNG would be applicable for long distance trains as well,” added the official. LNG is a natural gas (predominantly methane) that has been converted to liquid form for ease of storage or transport.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Indian Railways is one of the first railway transport systems in the world to plan LNG-run locomotives for long distances.

MANGALORE: Southern Railway has made bus arrangement between Thissur and Kuttipuram for reserved passengers during non-interlocked working at Shoranur.

Passengers arriving at Thrissur by 16606 Nagercoil - Mangalore Ernad express to Kuttipuram and beyond will be transported by bus which leaves Thrissur at 9.55am and reach Kuttipuram at 11.20am. They can board passenger special train to Mangalore Central which leaves Kuttipuram at 2pm.

Likewise, reserved passengers arriving at Kuttipuram by 16605 Mangalore - Nagercoil Ernad express to Thrissur and beyond will be transported by bus which leaves Kuttipuram at 1.15pm and reach Thrissur at 2.45pm. Reserved passengers arriving at Ottapalam by train 13351 Dhanbad - Alappuzha express to Shoranur and beyond will be transported by bus which leaves Ottapalam at 2.30pm. This bus will reach Shoranur at 3pm.

Reserved passengers arriving at Ottapalam by train 17230 Hyderabad Sabari express to Shoranur and beyond, will be transported by bus which leaves Ottapalam at 10.50am. This bus will reach Shoranur at 11.20am.

Reserved passengers arriving at Ottapalam by train 12511 Gorakhpur - Thiruvananthapuram express (Sunday/Tuesday/Saturday), train 12521 Barauni - Ernakulam express (Thursday), train 16325 Indore - Thiruvananthapuram express (Wednesday), and train 16327 Korba - Thiruvananthapuram express (Monday/Friday) to Shoranur and beyond will be transported by bus which leaves Ottapalam at 10am. This bus will reach Shoranur at 10.30am.

Buses will be provided only for reserved passengers up to Shoranur after 20 minutes from the actual arrival of train at Ottappalam. Passengers with reserved tickets will be ferried by the buses from Ottappalam to Shoranur junction and between Thrissur to Kuttipuram and Kuttipuram to Thrissur.

Passengers arriving by trains from Thiruvananthapuram/Ernakulam side bound to Shoranur and via Shoranur should get down at Wadakkancheri, as no transportation has been arranged for passengers arriving by these trains between Ottappalam and Shoranur. They are requested to make use of the road facility adjacent to the Wadakkancheri railway station or by the train to be operated after non-interlocked working hours.

There will not be any bus facility for passengers arriving by any train other than those notified above. Passengers should take note of notifications issued from time to time by the information centres at the railway stations concerned. Special refund counters will be functioning at Kuttipuram, Ottappalam and Shoranur junction to enable passengers get refunds applicable to each case during non-interlocking working hours.

Passengers boarding trains 13352 Alappuzha - Dhanbad express, 17229 Thiruvananthapuram - Hyderabad Sabari express, 12512 Thiruvananthapuram - Gorakhpur express, 12522 Ernakulam - Barauni express, 16326 Thiruvananthapuram - Indore express and 16328 Thiruvananthapuram - Korba express should board at Wadakkancheri/Ottappalam on their own. They can also use the return bus facility from Shoranur as per information available at Shoranur junction.

INCREASE IN FREQUENCY OF SOLAPUR – YESVANTPUR EXPRESS FROM TRI-WEEKLY TO DAILY

Ministry of Railways have decided to increase the frequency of Train No. 22133/22134  Solapur – Yesvantpur – Solapur Express from Tri-weekly to Daily. The regular service of increased frequency will commence with effect from 25.9.2013 Ex Yesvantpur and from 26.9.2013 Ex Solapur.

There will be no change in commercial stoppages and timings of Train No. 22133/22134 between Solapur – Yesvantpur – Solapur after increase in frequency. The details are as under:-

Train No. 22133 Solapur – Yesvantpur Express will run DAILY w.e.f. 26.9.2013 and Train No. 22134 Yesvantpur – Solapur Express w.e.f. 25.9.2013


However, the inaugural special of increased frequency will leave from Solapur as Train No. 01333 o­n Tuesday 24.9.2013 at 09.00 hrs and will arrive Yesvantpur at 22.50 hrs same day.

   

Composition: o­ne First AC cum AC-2 tier, o­ne AC-2 tier, o­ne AC-3 tier, 7 Sleeper class, 6 General second class and 2 General second class cum Guard’s brake vans.

भोपाल। रेलवे प्रशासन ने यात्रियों की सुविधा के लिए लोकमान्य तिलक टर्मिनस (एलटीटी) से हजरत निजामुद्दीन के बीच दो एसी स्पेशल ट्रेन  चलाने का निर्णय लिया है। यह गाडिय़ां भोपाल में हॉल्ट लेकर जाएंगी।



ट्रेन नंबर 02109 एलटीटी-हजरत निजामुद्दीन के बीच 24 सितंबर को एसी स्पेशल चलेगी। वहीं, ट्रेन नंबर 02110 हजरत निजामुद्दीन-एलटीटी के बीच 25 सितंबर को एसी स्पेशल चलाई जाएगी। इन दोनों गाडिय़ों का भोपाल में आने का टाइम-टेबल इस प्रकार है।

17 कोच: इस स्पेशल टे्रन में एक एसी-1, तीन एसी-2 और 10 एसी-3 श्रेणी के अलावा 1 बफेट कोच और 2 ब्रेक लगेज कम जनरेटर सहित कुल 17 कोच रहेंगे।

A record amount of  Rs 5.85 lakh was realized towards penalty from 1880  persons who were detected committing the offence of ticketless / irregular travel during a Fortress Check conducted at Secunderabad Railway Station from 04 00 hrs to 22 00 hrs o­n 19thSeptember, 2013 under the direct supervision of  Shri A. Bharat Bhushan, Chief Commercial Manager, South Central Railway.

            This is the highest ever penalty amount realized in a day in any single ticket checking initiative at a Station o­n SCR. During the checks, the entire Station was fortified and all possible exit routes were sealed by Security Personnel. For carrying out the check, 150 Ticket checking staff, 24 Railway Protection Force  personnel including women constables were pressed into action under the direct supervision of Shri A. Bharat Bhushan, Chief Commercial Manager, South Central Railway.  71 Express trains, 26  Passenger trains and 50 MMTS trins  were thoroughly checked without leaving any scope for the errants to escape.

The effect of the fortress check resulted in 7%  increase in the sale of journey tickets and 12% increase in the sale of platform tickets across the counters in the station.

रेल यात्रियों के लिए एक बड़ी खुशखबरी है. रेलवे ने मधुमेह रोग के यात्री को अब ट्रेन में शूगर रहित भोजन देने की पहल की है, ताकि उनके स्वास्थ्य पर किसी प्रकार का प्रतिकूल असर नहीं पड़े. पहले चरण में राजधानी, शताब्दी और दूरंतो एक्सप्रेस में इसका ट्रायल किया जा रहा है. जिसमें बढ़िया रिस्पांस मिला है. इसकी रिपोर्ट रेलवे बोर्ड को भेजी गयी है. जल्द ही राजधानी, शताब्दी और दूरंतो एक्सप्रेस में इसे नियमित रूप से चालू किया जायेगा. यहां बता दें कि ट्रायल के रूप में अभी राजधानी, शताब्दी और दूरंतो एक्सप्रेस में शुगर फ्री भोजन, रस, चाय, कॉफी, उबला हुआ शाकाहारी व मांसाहारी भोजन, नाश्ता,करेला समेत मौसमी हरी सब्जी और पौष्टिक आहार दिया जा रहा है.

हृदय रोगियों का भी ख्याल : शुगर फ्री खाने-पीने की चीजों के अलावा कॉलेस्ट्रॉल मुक्त खाद्य पदार्थ, कॉलेस्ट्रॉल मुक्त मक्खन की भी सुविधा ट्रॉयल बेसिस पर शुरू की गयी है.

झांसी। भारत हेवी इलेक्ट्रिकल्स लिमिटेड द्वारा सामाजिक दायित्व योजना के अंतर्गत व इम्पेक्ट इंडिया के सहयोग से प्रायोजित लाइफ लाइन एक्सप्रेस 24 दिन के सफलतापूर्वक संचालन के बाद झांसी से विदा हो गई। 28 अगस्त से 19 सितंबर तक विभिन्न रोगों से पीड़ित 19719 मरीजों ने ट्रेन में मौजूद विशेषज्ञ चिकित्सकों से इलाज कराया। इस दौरान 466 मरीजों के आपरेशन किए गए।
गुरुवार को रेलवे की वीआईपी साइडिंग में आयोजित समापन अवसर पर मुख्य अतिथि केंद्रीय ग्रामीण विकास राज्यमंत्री प्रदीप जैन ने कहा कि किसी कार्यक्रम की सफलता उससे जुड़ाव व आत्मीयता पर ही निर्भर होती है। फंड की उतनी महत्ता नहीं होती है। लाइन लाइन के उद्देश्य को पूरा करने के लिए भेल परिवार, सीएसआर कमेटी, वालटिंयर्स व चिकित्सा विशेषज्ञों ने जिस तरह की मेहनत की, वह अनुकरणीय है। यह ट्रेन ललितपुर में पहले नवंबर माह में आने वाली थी, लेकिन अब फरवरी 2014 में आएगी। इस दौरान मऊरानीपुर में भी एक्सप्रेस को ले जाने का प्रयास किया जा रहा है। इस अवसर पर कार्यपालक निदेशक ए के दवे ने बताया कि झांसी में बीस हजार रजिस्ट्रेशन ने रिकार्ड बनाया है।
इस मौके पर महाप्रबंधक (ट्रांसफार्मर एवं सेवाएं) विश्वास भावे, महाप्रबंधक (लोकोमोटिव एवं फेब्रीकेशन) मुकेश खासगीवाला, अपर महाप्रबंधक एच के वर्मा, अरविंद वशिष्ठ, मृत्युंजय नेपाली, शंहशाह हैदर आब्दी आदि उपस्थित थे। कार्यक्रम का संचालन कल्याण अधिकारी आफताब अली ने किया।

इन्होंने कराए पंजीकरण
झांसी। लाइफ लाइन एक्सप्रेस 24 दिन तक लगातार विभिन्न रोगों के रोगियों की चिकित्सा के लिए आवश्यक सहायता प्रदान करती रही। कान के रोगियों के 4158, पोलियो के 756, जले एवं कटेफटे होंठ के 772, मिर्गी के 378, दांत के 4927 एवं आंख के 8728 रजिस्ट्रेशन हुए। इस ट्रेन में कान के रोगियों के 211 आपरेशन एवं 292 व्यक्तियों को श्रवण यंत्र प्रदान किए गए। 530 लोगों को दवा एवं उचित चिकित्सीय सलाह दी गई। पोलियो के 12 मरीजों की सर्जरी एवं 13 लोगों को कैलीपर वितरित किए गए। जले एवं कटेफटे होंठ के कुल 26 रोगियों की सर्जरी की गई। मिर्गी के 269 लोगों को चिकित्सीय सलाह दी गई। दांत के 2068 मरीजों को दांतों के रखरखाव के लिए चिकित्सीय सलाह एवं दवाएं दी गईं। 521 रोगियों के दांतों की जांच कर आवश्यक चिकित्सा जैसे फिलिंग आदि की गई। आंख के लगभग अधिकांश मरीजों को देखा गया एवं 217 मोतियाबिंद के सफल आपरेशन किए गए।

इस कार्य में नई दिल्ली, लखनऊ सहित विभिन्न स्थानों से आए चिकित्सा विशेषज्ञों द्वारा निर्वाध रूप से चिकित्सा सहायता एवं सर्जरी कार्य किया गया। भेल के अलावा रेलवे चिकित्सालय, मेडिकल कालेज,जिला अस्पताल, विद्यावती कालेज आफ नर्सिंग स्टाफ व नेहरू युवा केंद्र के कार्यकर्ताओं का योगदान रहा।

जागरण संवाददाता, गोरखपुर : नरकटियागंज-गोरखपुर रूट पर करीब तीस किलोमीटर तक ट्रेनों की सुरक्षा भगवान भरोसे रहती है। यह वह इलाका है, जिसमें घने जंगल और रेलवे ट्रैक के आसपास कई बड़े नाले होने की वजह से ट्रेनों को कासन (नियंत्रित गति से) पर चलाया जाता है। इस दूरी को तय करने के दौरान ट्रेनों में कोई सुरक्षा दस्ता नहीं रहता। इस समस्या की वजह बगहा और पनियहवां रेलवे स्टेशन के बीच दो रेल जोन की सीमा है। दरअसल पूर्व मध्य रेलवे की सीमा बगहा स्टेशन से आगे बाल्मीकि नगर रोड स्टेशन पर खत्म हो जाती है। इसीलिए उधर से आने वाली ट्रेनों में मौजदू आरपीएफ का सुरक्षा दस्ता बगहा रेलवे स्टेशन पर ही उतर जाता है। पूर्व मध्य रेलवे की सीमा जहां खत्म होती है, वहां से पूवरेत्तर रेलवे की सीमा शुरू होती है। इसलिए पूवरेत्तर रेलवे का सुरक्षा दस्ता पनियहवां में ट्रेन के आने का इंतजार करता है। बगहा से पनियहवां और पनियहवां से बगहा की तरफ जाने वाली ट्रेनों में इन दोनों रेलवे स्टेशनों के बीच कोई सुरक्षा दस्ता नहीं होता। जबकि, पूर्व मध्य के सुरक्षा दस्ता को पनियहवा तक आना चाहिए। सुरक्षा की इसी कमी का लाभ उठाकर बदमाश, बगहा और पनियहवां रेलवे स्टेशन के बीच इस घटना को अंजाम देने में सफल रहे।1ट्रेन में पहले से सवार थे बदमाश : जीआरपी की शुरुआती छानबीन और यात्रियों से पूछताछ में यह बात सामने आई है कि ट्रेन में बदमाश बेतिया स्टेशन पर ही सवार हो गए थे। बताते चलें कि दीपेश्वर भी बेतिया से ही बांद्रा के लिए ट्रेन में सवार हुआ था। हालांकि, बेतिया से बगहा तक बदमाशों ने एस-14 कोच के पीछे वाली कोच में यात्र की। बगहा में वे कोच संख्या एस-14 में सवार हुए थे। यहां से ट्रेन चलने के कुछ देर बाद ही उन्होंने गोली मारकर हत्या कर दी। इस कोच में कुल 49 बर्थ रिजर्व थे। इसमें बर्थ संख्या 1 से 48 तक अन्य यात्रियों के नाम से और इसके बाद बर्थ संख्या 71 दीपेश्वर के नाम से था। बाकी बर्थ आगे के स्टेशनों से रिजर्व थे। 1

GURGAON: The first phase of Rapid Metro Rail covering a distance of little over 5 km is likely to be inaugurated on October 2.The first phase will have six stations - DLF phase-II, Belvedere Towers, Gateway Towers, Moulsari Avenue, DLF Phase-III and Sikanderpur.Principal Secretary to Haryana Chief Minister S S Dhillon today reviewed the progress of laying of Rapid Metro Network here at a meeting with officers of district administration and Rapid Metro Rail Gurgaon Limited.Dhillon said it was the country's first Metro Rail system developed on PPP mode at cost of about Rs 1,100 crore.The interchange station is at Sikanderpur, where Rapid Metro connects Delhi Metro system via a skywalk. This will provide seamless connectivity to Delhi Metro, thereby connecting DLF cyber city to Delhi.Managing Director of Rapid Metro Rail Gurgaon Limited Sanjeev Rai informed Dhillon that the construction of first phase of Rapid Metro has been completed.He said work on second phase from Sikanderpur up to Sector 55-56 of Gurgaon has also commenced.Rai said that in the first phase the Rapid Metro will have three coaches with a capacity of 800 passengers.He said the Rapid Metro will have common ticketing system with Delhi Metro which means that the tokens and smart cards of Delhi Metro will work on Rapid Metro system also.This will ensure commuter convenience as there will be no requirement of purchasing multiple tickets.He said a total of five trains will deployed in first phase. CCTV Cameras have also been installed.Rai also said that with the advent of Rapid Metro, the commuters will get relief from traffic woes experienced on Gurgaon-Delhi stretch of National Highway 8.
