The Railway Photo Identity Cards of accredited Press Correspondents regarding grant of travel concession have been revalidated upto 30th April 2014.

Ministry of Railways have also decided to issue new Photo Identity Cards to the accredited Press Correspondents w.e.f. 1st May 2014. Accredited Press Correspondents may contact the concerned accredition certificate issuing agencies within their jurisdiction  regarding the revlidation procedure and issue of new Identity Cards which will valid from 1st May 2014.

PERMANENT AUGMENTATION OF

KOLKATA-AMRITSAR DURGIANA EXPRESS TRAIN


For the convenience of rail passengers and to increase the passenger carrying capacity, Railway has decided to augment the train no.12357/12358 Kolkata-Amritsar-Kolkata Durgiana  express Train with One  Additional General Second Class coach from 14.09.2013 when departing from Kolkata and from 16.09.2013 when departing from Amritsar o­n permanent basis.
The other features like timings, route, stoppages etc. will remain as unchanged.
EXTENSION OF TEMPORARY AUGMENTATION OF DELHI SARAI ROHILLA- JAIPUR DOUBLE DECKER TRAIN

            For the convenience of the rail passengers and to increase the
passenger carrying capacity of trains, Railway has decided to
extend the augmentation of the 12986/12985 Delhi Sarai Rohilla- Jaipur- Delhi Sarai Rohilla Double Decker train by Two additional A.C. Chair Car coaches upto 15.10.2013 o­n temporary basis from both the directions. Earlier the Temporary Augmentation was announced from 16.08.2013 to 15.09.2013.

The Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMR) is ready to hold negotiations with the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (Iskcon), Secunderabad, on the proposal to acquire land belonging to the organisation, HMR managing director NVS Reddy said.Speaking to reporters on Thursday, after the inspection of Uppal metro rail depot by members of the 14th Finance Commission, Reddy said it has become necessary to acquire a portion of the Iskcon land to avoid trains taking a sharp curve. So, we requested the organisation to give us a portion of land, but they are alleging that HMR is forcibly trying to take over the land, he said.As they are against the proposal, the GHMC proceeded in a legal way to acquire the land, he said. “We are open to negotiations and want to settle the issue amicably even today to avoid further controversy. The state government, through negotiations, could acquire a dozen properties belonging to religious places in the twin cities,” Reddy added.

Earlier, the Finance Commission members Sushama Nath, M Govind Rao, Sudipta Maundle and AN Jha went around the metro rail depot. Reddy explained to the members about the progress of work and informed them that the HMR project is going to be a world class public transportation system in PPP mode. It is going to be an efficient, reliable and economical transport system for the people of Greater Hyderabad, he said.

He explained about the state-of-the-art systems being created under the project, such as modern signalling and communication-based train control (CBTC), and the technology being used for the first time in India. It will be a seamless travel for commuters through integration of rail terminals, bus depots and MMTS stations, he said.

The first phase works from Nagole to Mettuguda (8 km) will be completed by December 2014 and trains will run from March 2015.

In view of the 7th Day of Ganpati Immersion day, Western Railway has cancelled the Jumbo Block o­n Sunday, 15/09/2013.

Hence, there will be NO Jumbo Block of WR o­n 15/09/2013.

Delhi Metro's Airport Express line will have a new helpline number from Sunday.DMRC's 24x7 helpline number '155370' will replace the existing Airport Express Line helpline number '30802030', which was earlier operated by DAMEPL."From Sunday, DMRC Helpline number 155370 will be available for providing easy access and speedy solutions to public queries and complaints regarding Airport Express Line too," a DMRC spokesperson said.

The earlier number 30802030' will become non-functional as Airport Express Line helpline number from the same day.

After the takeover of Airport Express Line from DAMEPL from August 1, DMRC has decided to merge this with its own Helpline Number 155370 for the public and they can access it round the clock for all their feedback, information, besides for all the other trains of the Delhi Metro.

The DMRC Helpline number receives around 500-600 calls per day, besides suggestion books which are available with the station managers at all metro stations.

The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL) is looking to raise Rs 1,000 crore through private placement of bonds. "We were planning to tap financial institutions, but would not like to do it now as the interest rates are high," the Corporation's new Managing Director Pradeep Singh Kharola told Business Today.Kharola, a 1985-batch IAS officer, said BMRLC will wait for interest rates to soften before starting to raise more funds. The corporation, in which the governments of India and Karnataka are equal partners, has been implementing the metro project with equity and debt raised from many financial institutions including the Japan International Cooperation Agency. The 42.3 km Phase I of the project comprising two corridors - the 18.1 km long East-West corridor and the 24.2 km long North-South corridor - is estimated to cost about Rs 12,000 crore.The Corporation is awaiting clearance from the Government of India before starting on the 72 km long Phase II of the project at a cost of Rs 25,000 crore, the MD said. Phase II involves extending the lines laid under the Phase I, and beginning two new routes, one of which will connect Bangalore's arterial areas with Electronic City - the address that houses many well-known information technology companies including Infosys Ltd.

The entire Phase I of the project will be ready by March 2015, Kharola said. "We hope to complete all the civil works including tunneling by October next year, but will require about six months time after that for the laying of tracks and signaling systems." The construction work, he added, was going on in many parts of the city simultaneously, which would help the corporation to meet completion schedules.

The metro service will be thrown open in stages. A 7-km stretch of the Bangalore Metro in the East-West corridor is already open for commuters, and another stretch of 10 km in the North-South corridor will be open by the end of November this year, the MD said. Another stretch of 4-km in the North-South section will follow four months after that. By July next year, the 18 km East-West corridor will be fully ready, and might be open to commuters two months after that.

The fall in the value of the rupee against the US dollar has had some impact on the project as there are some contracts that are payable in dollars. Though a few coaches were imported initially, the corporation is now relying on the public sector BEML Ltd for supply of coaches. Each train (rake) will have a minimum of three coaches, which can go up to six depending on the demand. Each coach costs Rs 9.85 crore, and the corporation has placed orders for 50 rakes under Phase I. The Bangalore-headquartered public sector company has already supplied 40 coaches made to Bangalore Metro's specifications, Kharola said.

Each coach has a capacity to carry 1000 people, and Bangalore's metro station platforms are designed for six-coach operations.
