The passenger train between Virudhunagar and Karaikudi was flagged off by local MP Manicka Tagore (Congress) here on Saturday.The service had been suspended between Manamadurai and Virudhunagar in view of gauge conversion work.The service began in this section seven weeks after the dedication of the new BG line. It took five years for the railway authorities to connect the missing BG link between Manamadurai and Virudhunagar after spending a whopping Rs.178 crore. Though the BG track was laid on the fourth platform in Virudhunagar Junction, the passenger train is being operated in the first platform now in the absence of a foot overbridge. The foot overbridge is available only up to the third platform.When this was brought to the attention of Commissioner of Railway Safety Sathish Kumar Mittal when he came here on June 21 to give final clearance for fitness of the track, top officials accompanying him asserted that the foot overbridge would be constructed within a couple of months. But no work started in this regard.

இந்த பாதை அகல ரயில் பாதையாக மாற்றப்பட்ட பிறகு பல விரைவு ரயில்கள் நின்று செல்லாமல் உள்ளன. சென்னை - ராமேஸ்வரம் (16701), சென்னை - காரைக்கால் (16175), திருப்பதி - மன்னார்குடி (16407), திருப்பதி - ராமேஸ்வரம் (16779), வாரணாசி - ராமேஸ்வரம்(14260) போன்ற ரயில்கள் திருப்பாதிரிப்புலியூரில் நிறுத்தப்பட வேண்டும்.

விழுப்புரம் - மயிலாடுதுறை மார்க்கத்தில் பயணிகள் அதிகமாக உள்ள நிலையமாக திருப்பாதிரிப்புலியூர் ரயில் நிலையம் உள்ளது. தாம்பரம் ரயில் நிலையம், சென்னை எக்மோர், சென்ட்ரல் ஆகியவற்றை அடுத்து மூன்றாவது முனையமாக சென்னை ரயில்வேயினால் ஆக்கப்பட்டுள்ளதால் கடலூர் - தாம்பரம் ரயில் புதியதாக இயக்க வேண்டும்.

அதேப்போன்று சேலம் - விருத்தாசலம் பயணிகள் ரயில், திருப்பாதிரிப்புலியூர் வரை நீட்டிக்கவும், மயிலாடுதுறை - கோயமுத்தூர் ரயிலை திருப்பாதிரிப்புலியூர் வரை நீட்டிக்கவும், காட்பாடி-விழுப்புரம் ரயிலை முதுநகர் வரை நீட்டிக்கவும் நடவடிக்கை எடுக்க வேண்டும்.

Hosadurga:  Minister for Railways M. Mallikarjun Kharge has said that the State does not have much of a railway network compared to Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal and Maharashtra. To improve railway network, the State government should join hands with the Union government by releasing its share of funds for the projects regularly.

Speaking after laying the foundation stone for the Hosadurga Road-Chikjajur Junction Railway Doubling Project here on Sunday, he said that the Railways requires Rs.1400 crore to complete the ongoing projects in the State. However, the State government has released only Rs.50 crore this year for these projects.

Stating that land acquisition was a major hindrance to quick implementation of railway projects, the Minister said that many a time farmers approached courts demanding more compensation for their land even after the government had paid them suitable compensation as per market rate. “The State government should take the initiative to convince farmers in places where railway projects are being implemented to hand over land smoothly after receiving suitable compensation,” he added.

On the Hosadurga Road–Chikjajur Junction Railway doubling project, he said that the doubling of Hosadurga Road and Chikjajur line will be the last stage of the Arsikere-Chikjajur doubling scheme. The detailed estimate for doubling Hosadurga Road-Chikjajur section of 29.65 km was sanctioned in July 2013. The cost was pegged at Rs.203.40 crore. The doubling work is expected to be completed in two-and-a-half years.

With the completion of the Hosadurga Road-Chikjajur doubling work, Arsikere-Chikjajur route will become an important route as it provides connectivity between mining areas in the hinterland and Mangalore Port. It will also facilitate the movement of petroleum products from Hassan to north Karnataka and central India.

As a part of the project, new station buildings are being constructed at Hosadurga, Chikjajur, Ramgiri and Halalkere stations.

During the line doubling project, 11 unmanned level crossings and two manned level crossings will be removed to enhance safety of road and rail users. Electronic interlocking at stations will be provided to further improve safety in train operations. It is planned to install renewable energy sources such as solar lighting on platforms and the station building at Chikjajur, he added.

Chief Minister S. Siddaramaiah, district in-charge Minister H. Anjaneya, MP Janardhanswamy, MLA B.G. Govindappa, Deputy Commissioner V.P. Ikkeri and Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer K.M. Narayanswamy were present.

After introducing two additional trains and using both platforms at Central Secretariat Metro station of Line-6 for going towards Badarpur from 04th September 2013, the Delhi Metro has decided to implement a host of new measures on its Line-1, 2, and 3/4 also to provide comfort to its commuters. The move is aimed at better passenger handling and comfortable services to all the public using the Delhi Metro. Linewise update is as given below:    ON LINE-1 ((DILSHAD GARDEN TO RITHALA) 1)  Delhi Metro has decided to introduce six coach trains on Line-1 too and induction may start within next 3-4 months. Presently, Line-1 has a pool of 29 four coach trains.   2)  Line-1 is 25.1 KM long and have 21 Metro stations and around 3.5 Lakh passengers travel on it daily.   ON LINE-2 (JAHANGIRPURI TO HUDA CITY CENTRE)   1)  Line 2 at present have a peak frequency of 2 minute 38 seconds, highest amongst all lines. 27 number of eight car trains have already been introduced in service. Further, 6 more trains @ 1 train per week are being converted into 8 coach trains.   2)  27 eight coach trains are being operated in such a way that during morning peak hours, Rajiv Chowk Metro station gets two 8 coach trains out of every three trains approaching the station.   3)  Two additional trips will be started from Monday i.e, 9th September 2013 from Kashmere Gate towards Gurgaon direction (Busiest section) from 9:00 am to 10:00 am, the busiest hour, to clear the passenger rush. .   ON LINE-3 & 4: DWARKA SEC-21 TO NOIDA CITY CENTRE/VAISHALI)   1)  Two 8 coach trains have already been introduced in service. Further, 29 more 8 coach trains @ 1 train per week are being converted and will be inducted into service.   2)  From Monday ie. 9th September, two additional trains will be inducted during peak time, one from Janakpuri West to Vaishali and one from Noida Sec-16 to Dwarka Sec-21 for clearing the peak hour passenger rush.             The Delhi Metro’s network is among the fastest growing networks in the world, it has grown to 190 kms of operational network since it has started its operations in 2002 and presently carrying around 25 lakh passengers every day.

Vehicles will be allowed to use North railway overbridge on Monday from 10 p.m. to 5.30 a.m. on Tuesday owing to ongoing Kochi Metro works. A release from the Assistant Commissioner of Traffic, West, said vehicles could use the A.L. Jacob or Pulleppady railway overbridges.

AGARTALA: The North-East Frontier Railway will bring Agartala in the country’s broad gauge rail network by 2016.

“Agartala is scheduled to get broad gauge facility by March 2016,” NFR Chief Engineer (Construction) Harpal Singh told reporters.

“If the required fund is available, NFR will be able to extend the broad gauge rail connectivity to Agartala within the stipulated time,” he said.

Singh said the railway extension work up to Sabroom in South Tripura district would also be completed by the same time.

Works for conversion in BG a small metre gauge track from Lumding to Silchar in Assam was in full swing and likely to be completed by March 2015, he said.

Stoppage at Amaravila

In connection with the ‘Guru Pooja Festival’ at Marangali Sree Kasilinga Guruswamy Samadhi Dharma Madom, one minute stoppage will be provided at Amaravila Station for train number 56700, Madurai- Kollam Passenger train, on September 9.

The Railways have sanctioned a direct passenger train between Nilambur and Ernakulam. The new train will replace the two existing passenger trains that run between Nilambur and Shoranur, and Shoranur and Ernakulam.Railway officials said here on Sunday that the new passenger train, facilitating direct travel from Nilambur to Ernakulam and back, would be an Onam gift for the Nilambur rail users.M.I. Shanavas, MP, had taken up the matter with the Railways following persistent demand for it by the Nilambur Mysore Railway Action Council.The train will leave Ernakulam at 7.35 a.m. and reach Nilambur at 1.05 p.m. It will depart from Nilambur at 2.55 p.m. and arrive at Ernakulam at 7.50 p.m.At present, the rake of the Nilambur-Shoranur passenger will be used for the Shoranur-Ernakulam passenger. Therefore, passengers heading for Ernakulam need not have to change the train at Shoranur.‘‘The new direct train will be a solace, especially for passengers from Ernakulam to Nilambur,’’ said C. Mohammed Ali and Biju Ninan, president and secretary respectively of the Nilambur Mysore Railway Action Council.The Nilambur sector has seven pair of trains, including an Express train. When four passenger trains run from Nilambur to Shoranur, one goes up to Palakkad and another up to Ernakulam.

The escalator installed at the Ernakulam junction railway station will be commissioned on Monday. Union Minister K V Thomas will inaugurate the function which will kick off at 4.30 pm. With this, Ernakulam junction will be the first station in the state to boast of such a facility.

Thiruvananthapuram Divisional Railway Manager Rajesh Agarwal, District Collector P I Sheik Pareeth, Hibi Eden MLA will also be present. As per the plan, escalators will come up at the remaining platforms of the station and a sum of Rs 235 lakh has been earmarked for the project.
