The frequency of Train No. 12752/12751 Secunderabad-Manuguru-Secunderabad Express will be increased from Tri-weekly to Daily as detailed below:-
Train No. 12752 Secunderabad - Manuguru Express will run daily with effect from 2nd July, 2013. In the return direction, Train No. 12751 Manuguru - Secunderabad Expresswill run daily with effect from 3rd July, 2013.
Consequent to the same, no slip coaches from Secunderabad to Manuguru and vice-versa will be running by Train No 17050 / 17049 Secunderabad – Machilipatnam Express with effect from 1st July, 2013.

Kolkata: Heavy rains in various parts of Kolkata since last night have disrupted normal life as several parts of the city became waterlogged and trains services were partially disrupted.Several parts of central, north and south Kolkata were water logged causing inconvenience to the people.Among the areas affected were parts of Ballygunge, arterial CR Avenue, MG road, Zakaria Street, Bidhan Sarani and College Street. The underpasses at Patipukur and Dum Dum were also waterlogged due to the heavy rainfall. However, with the day being a Sunday, traffic was much less on the streets.According to the MeT office 89.5 mm rainfall was recorded in last 24 hours. There were also forecast of medium to heavy rainfall in the next 24 hours.Kolkata Mayor Sovan Chatterjee said Kolkata Municipal Corporation personnel were pumping out the water from the waterlogged areas.The heavy rainfall partially disrupted train services at various parts of Sealdah section, while that of Eastern Railways section was restored later in the day

If you want to donate daily use items for those affected by the floods in Uttarakhand, Indian Railways will transport them free of cost till July 9. You can donate woollens, warm bedspreads, steel kitchen items and other daily use items, a State government release said. The Bangalore Urban Deputy Commissioner has been appointed nodal officer to handle the collected items and send them.

Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry D. Purandeswari held a review meeting with the district officials on the long-pending developmental activities in the city. She discussed with district Collector V. Seshadri on the issue of allotment of JNNURM house pattas to Muslim at Parawada. She spoke to GVMC Commissioner M.V. Satyanarayana on the JNNURM housing projects, fly over work and alternative land allotment to Railways for the BRTS work and the Divisional Railway Manager Anil Kumar relating to termination of 261 contract workers, development of Visakhapatnam and Duvvada Railway Stations, feasibility of new trains and installation of escalators at Visakhapatnam Railway Station.

Changes in timings of 108 trains and introduction of five express trains and three passenger trains are the highlights of the new time table of Southern Railway that will come into effect from Monday.Although the timings, stoppages, and composition of the express and passenger trains, running through the State, announced in the last railway budget have featured in the railway time table, the date of introduction of the trains has not been announced by the zonal railways.The express trains are the 22633/22634 Thiruvananthapuram - Hazrat Nizamuddin Super Fast expresses (weekly) via Mangalore Junction, Konkan Railway; 22114/22113 Kochuveli - Lokmanya Tilak Super Fast express (biweekly) via Konkan Railway, Mangalore Jn., Shoranur Jn. Ernakulam Town, Kottayam; 18567/18568 Visakhapatnam- Kollam expresses (weekly) via Vijayawada, Gudur, Renigunta, Arakkonam bypass, Jolarpettai, Coimbatore and Kottayam;17235/17236 Bangalore City - Nagercoil expresses (daily) via Hosur, Dharmapuri, Salem, Namakkal, Karur, Madurai, Tirunelveli; and 16861/16862 Puducherry - Kanyakumari expresses (weekly) via Villupuram, Mayiladuthurai, Tiruchirappalli, Manamadurai, Virudunagar, Tirunelveli.  The fate of the newly announced passenger trains 56339/56340 Punalur-Kollam Passenger (daily), 56663/56664 Kozhikode- Thrissur Passenger (daily) and the 56367/56368 Guruvayur - Thrissur passenger (daily) is the same. The newly sanctioned 66307/66308 Ernakulam- Kollam passenger via Kottayam (six days a week).

The 66309/66310 Ernakulam- Kollam passenger via Alappuzha (six days a week) will not take off now.

The extension of the 12508/12507 Guwahati - Ernakulam expresses (weekly) to Thiruvananthapuram via Ernakulam Town, 12082/12081 Thiruvananthapuram- Kozhikode Jan Shatabdi expresses (five days) to Kannur.

56700/56701 Madurai- Kollam Passengers (daily) to Punalur, 6612/66611 Ernakulam -Thrissur MEMU (six days) to Palakkad, 66304 / 66305 Kollam - Nagercoil MEMU (six days) to Kanyakumari will be notified later, the pressnote informed.

The increase in frequency of the 12217/12218 Kochuveli - Chandigarh Kerala Sampark Kranti expresses from weekly to bi-weekly and that of the 56312 Tirunelveli- Nagercoil Passenger and the 56325/ 56312 Nagercoil- Kanyakumari passengers and the 56321 Kanyakumari – Tirunelveli passenger will be notified later.

The number of 16865/16866 Karaikkal- Ernakulam expresses 16187/16188 had been changed to 16187/16188 from September 1 and that of the 12997/12998 Tirunelveli- Happa expresses to 16187/16188 from November 1 this year.

From July 1, the frequency of the 16315/16316 Bangalore - Kochuveli express trains will be increased to six days a week.

With effect from September 4, the 16316 Kochuveli - Bangalore Express and with effect from September 5 the 16315 Bangalore- Kochuveli Express will run daily.

Consequently, 16322/16321 Thiruvananthapuram- Bangalore (weekly) expresses will be cancelled from September 4.

Developments in the mining sector in Bellary, Hospet and Sandur in the past few years, which has been hit by the illegal mining scam, has resulted in a steep decline in the railway freight revenue of the Hubli Division, which is the main resource base for the South Western Railway (SWR) zone.This has come to light from information furnished by the Hubli Division in response to an application filed under the Right to Information Act by Y. Yamunesh, member of the Divisional Rail Users’ Consultative Committee.Iron ore exports from the area witnessed a boom in the international market from around 2002, when China emerged as a major player. As a consequence, freight earnings started moving up and it peaked in 2009-10, when it brought in Rs. 2,60,351.14 lakh out of the total earnings of Rs. 2,76,339 lakh.However, the downturn began with the ban imposed on export of iron ore in July 2010 by the State government in an attempt to curb illegal mining. This was followed by a total ban on all kinds of mining imposed by the Supreme Court, while hearing a public interest litigation filed by the Dharwad-based Samaj Parivartana Samudaya against illegal mining activities in forest areas, in July 2011

As a result, over the years, the freight revenue from the movement of iron ore has declined drastically and touched Rs. 39,869 lakh, out of the total freight earnings of Rs. 1,87,434 lakh, in 2011-12.

Prior to the ban, about 27 rakes (one rake has 58 wagons for transporting about 3,850 tonnes of ore) used to move daily from the Bellary-Hospet section towards various ports, including Chennai, Visakhapatnam, Krishnapattanam, Karwar and Goa. This has come down to less than 10 rakes, that too plying for short distances, mainly to meet domestic needs.

As against the normal 27 rakes a day, less than 10 rakes were plying after the ban on exports. In 2010-11, the total revenue contributed by Bellary-Hospet section was Rs. 92,699.16 lakh. Revenue earnings further dipped in 2011-12 to Rs. 39,869 lakh from this section.

Iron ore traffic in this sector was being handled at 15 loading points, of which bulk handling was done at 10 points, including Torangal, Bannihatti, Kariganur, JVSL, Bellary (cantonment), Papinayakanahalli, Ranjitpur, Bellary, Ramgadh and Swamihalli. The prospects of any improvement in goods revenue earnings appear uncertain because, the ban on exports imposed by the State government is still in force. Moreover, the mining activities in the Bellary-Hospet-Sandur sector returning to its earlier state is unlikely at the moment, as only about 20 mines, listed in category A by the Supreme Court-appointed Central Empowered Committee, have been permitted to resume mining.

Apart from that, the State government has cancelled the lease given to 51 mines, which were included in Category C, as per the directions of the Supreme Court.

The mines listed in B category have been asked to implement reclamation and rehabilitation (R&R) plan and obtain all mandatory licences and clearances from the departments of Environment and Forest, before resuming their activities. Above all, there is a cap on the production of ore too, imposed by the Supreme Court.

Suburban trains delayed; seven trains on MRTS line cancelled; disruption was caused due to problems with the overhead line

The disruption of EMU services on Saturday evening put commuters in the city to hardship.A delay in the train services by about half an hour affected commuters of suburban trains on the Chennai Beach-Tambaram and Chennai Beach-Chengalpattu sections. The Chennai Beach-Velachery MRTS section too was affected with seven trains cancelled in a period of over an hour.The disruption was caused due to problems with the overhead line between Chennai Beach station and Egmore, officials said.The services resumed on the Chennai Beach-Velachery section by 6 p.m. Meanwhile, a large number of commuters were seen leaving some of the 17 stations on the elevated line that runs over a distance of about 25 km.“I came to Chintadripet MRTS station at 5 p.m. Services scheduled for 5.08 p.m., 5.23 p.m., 5.35 p.m., 5.45 p.m. and 5.55 p.m. did not operate. The train that arrived after 6 p.m. was crowded. So I was unable to board the train. I am late for a meeting,” said Mohan Hamal, a resident of New Delhi who has been using the MRTS for commuting from Taramani to Chintadripet for the past one month.Many commuters, who were stuck in stations such as Chennai Beach, Park station, Chintadripet, were forced to take a bus, which lead to congestion in the bus stops. A few commuters had to hire the services of autorickshaws. Some of them alleged fleecing by auto drivers near MRTS stations.

“I waited for the train for one hour. But there was no announcement on the public address system. I could have reached my destination by an alternative mode of transport if they had made an announcement on disruption of services and the reason for such disruption,” said P.K. Narayanan, another commuter.

The services on the Chennai Beach-Avadi, Chennai Beach-Tiruttani and Chennai Beach-Gummidipoondi/Sullurpetta sections remained undisrupted.

However, around 9.15 p.m., a train was delayed on the Chennai-Beach-Gummidipoondi section, which led to commuters staging a protest. Half an hour later, following the arrival of the police and Railway officials who pacified them, they dispersed.

South Central Railway Releases “Southern Zone Time Table” and “MMTS Pocket Time Table”, July-2013 Issues

The release of new Railway Time Table every year is an event, eagerly awaited by the travelling Public.  Shri D.P. Pande, General Manager, South Central Railway released the Southern Zone Time Table today ie, o­n 29th June, 2013 at a Press Conference held at Rail Nilayam. The Southern Zone Time Table - 2013, which is got designed and printed by South Central Railway will come into force from 1st July, 2013. This time table provides detailed timings o­n all the train services run o­n South Central Railway, Southern Railway, South Western Railway and Konkan Railway and also contains useful information o­n a host of other issues related to Rail services.
        This time table can serve as a o­ne-stop guide for all the information needs of rail passengers in planning their journey.The copies of this new Time Table will be made available for sale to the Public at Railway Stations within a week.This new Time Table offers much cheer for the Passengers of South Central Railway. SCR has got a good number of new trains this year also continuing the trend of getting a large chunk of new trains announced in Rail Budgets in recent years. While a staggering number of 51 new trains - 31 originating and 20 passing through - were introduced o­n SCR in the last 2 years, 25 more new trains - 14 originating and 11 passing through - were allotted to us in the recent Rail Budget in February last.
          There are several firsts in this time table, new connections from important passenger hubs o­n SCR to various popular destinations for the first time fulfilling the rail travel needs of the passengers o­n these routes. Some of them include new express trains from Kacheguda to Mangalore; Tirupati to Puducherri; Kakinada to Mumbai; Guntur to Shirdi; Nizamabad to Mumbai; Nanded to Nangaldam and Visakhapatnam to Gandhidham via SCR etc.
          SCR has already started operation of new trainswith the flagging off of 2 new trains from Kurnool City - to Secunderabad and Nandyal - by Shri Kotla Jaya Surya Prakash Reddy, Hon'ble Minister of State for Railways,on 25th June, 2013. The remainingtrains will be introduced in a phased manner in the current Financial Year.
          Apart from new train services, this time table features the extension of 10 trains, increase in frequency of 8 trains and diversion of o­ne train over SCR.10 Trains have been speeded up by reducing their travel time ranging from 10 minutes to 33 minutes. Change of terminal effected for two express trains from Hyderabad to Secunderabad.Additional stoppages have been provided for three express trains at 11 stations. There will be change in timings for 24 trains at various stations. All the details are attached

An attractive multi-colour booklet of pocket size, which can be carried along with conveniently, this time table can serve as a ready reference/travel guide to local rail commuters. This time table contains schedules of MMTS / local train services and other useful information such as system map, fare tables, list of colonies near to each MMTS station, tips for safe journey and public awareness campaign material etc. This valuable issue is priced at a nominal ` 5/-only. The General Manager, SCR expressed hope that  these new time tables will meet the requirement of the public in getting comprehensive information o­n the schedules and other requisite data related to Rail services.
On this occasion, he said that, SCR has consistently been moving ahead o­n a path of high growth. SCR loaded more than 110 million tons of freight and carried around 387 millions of originating passengers, with an earnings of more than Rs.10,000 Cr. during last year. Keeping in view the potential for further growth of traffic and in response to the requirements of public of this region, SCR is committed to expand its network and services with focus o­n delivering a qualitative service to its customers, he added.

  Safety, Security, Punctuality, Cleanliness and providing modern facilities to passengers are the top priority areas for SCR.  It is the earnest resolve of SCR to make the services passenger friendly and the rail journey comfortable.  He narrated the various recent initiatives taken by SCR in this direction. SCR moves forward with focus o­n continuous system improvements and innovations for enhanced utilization of its resources to meet the surge in expectations of the Public, the General Manager Said.

PATNA: The 'Rail yatri sevak' scheme for senior citizens is still to be implemented in East Central Railway (ECR). Railways had earlier announced to provide more amenities to senior citizens to make their train journey safe and comfortable under this scheme.According to an ECR official, railways has decided to introduce it at important stations, including Patna, Gaya, Mughalsarai and other major stations under East Central Railway (ECR). Railways is in constant touch with the service providers to make available trolley and 'sevaks' at major stations to help elderly people during journey, he said.

According to a senior official of Danapur rail division, railways is keen to introduce 'sevak' service, first at Patna Junction and Rajendra Nagar Terminal. "Railways is in touch with a few agencies to implement this scheme under Danapur division," he said, adding that railways is yet to get offer from private agencies to implement this scheme.

Under the proposed plan, railways would allow registered agencies and voluntary social organizations to depute their men at important stations to serve elderly people as 'sevaks'. They would be paid nominal charges for carrying luggage of sick and unable passengers on railway platforms, a Railway Board official said, adding that railways has already introduced this scheme at New Delhi, Chennai, Bangalore and Ahmedabad stations. However, it could not get much patronage as the scheme has not been made popular among the needy passengers in other zones of railways, including Bihar.

Railways is ready to coordinate between 'sevaks' and passengers to make it more popular, said Danapur rail division PRO R K Singh, adding that this service would be available round the clock at important stations once implemented.

"During odd hours, railway porters are hardly available on platforms. 'Rail yatri sevak' scheme would provide much relief to elderly and sick people during journey," Jagat Prasad, 70, said and added that railways must not delay its implementation at Patna Junction.
