व‌र्द्धमान से आसनसोल मेमू सवारी गाड़ी 63509 अप के आसनसोल लेट पहुंचने तथा बीच रास्ते में सवारी गाड़ी रोककर हावड़ा-धनबाद ब्लैक डायमंड एक्सप्रेस अप को पास कराने के विरोध में शुक्रवार को यात्रियों ने आसनसोल पूछताछ केन्द्र में हंगामा किया। बाद में जीआरपी तथा आरपीएफ ने यात्रियों को समझाकर मामला शांत किया। इस दौरान सीआइटी बीएन घोष ने यात्रियों से शिकायत पुस्तिका में शिकायत लिखवायी। यात्रियों का आरोप था कि व‌र्द्धमान सवारी गाड़ी को खड़ी कराकर मेन लाइन से ट्रेन पास करायी जाती है। बताया जाता है कि मेमू सवारी गाड़ी सुबह आसनसोल 9.15 के बजाय 9.45 मिनट पर आसनसोल पहुंची। जिससे यात्रियों की आसनसोल से झाझा जानेवाली ट्रेन छूट गई। हालांकि शुक्रवार की सुबह आसनसोल-झाझा सवारी गाड़ी सुबह 9.35 मिनट के बजाय सुबह 8.38 में ही खुल गयी। ट्रेन नहीं मिलने से डेली पैसेंजर आक्रोशित होकर पहले स्टेशन मैनेजर के कक्ष में गए। वहां पर किसी को न पाकर वे पूछताछ केन्द्र में पहुंचे और हंगामा किया। यात्रियों ने कहा कि व‌र्द्धमान से आसनसोल आनेवाली सवारी गाड़ी प्रतिदिन लेट पहुंचती है। जिससे झाझा लोकल तथा आद्रा की ओर जानेवाली ट्रेन नहीं मिल पाती है। इस बारे में पीआरओ बी मुर्मू के छुट्टी में रहने के कारण उनका पक्ष नहीं मिल पाया।

Fed up with long rail ticket queues, exploiting touts and Internet blues? Here comes help. Now, in a matter of minutes and with two SMSs you can book your ticket through your mobile phone.

Railway Minister Mallikarjun Kharge on Friday launched the facility, making easy purchase of tickets by 80 per cent population that owns mobile phones. The only limitations are that the software will accept entries only in English, and you cannot book tickets between 8 a.m. and 12 noon.

IRCTC has come up with a number of options for passengers to buy tickets without having to access the Internet. Besides the short code 5676714, one can even send an SMS to 139 or the Airtel Money system *400# or the system powered by Pyro where one needs to have a BSNL SIM card enabled with Java computer language.

To make use of any of these options, you have to get your mobile number registered with IRCTC. Each SMS will cost Rs. 3 and as the project is being launched on a pilot basis, mobile service providers have dispensed with agent charges for now. These charges as and when imposed would be the same one pays to other agents, including online charges.

One will not be required to carry a hard copy of the ticket while travelling — the SMS confirmation will be valid proof.

The facility allows for ticket cancellation as well.

Mr. Kharge said anyone with a simple mobile phone would be able to buy reserved tickets from any corner of the country. This would put an end to fleecing by touts.

Railway Board Chairman Vinay Mittal said once the system stabilised it would be improved further. Noting that 45 per cent of the reserved tickets were booked through the Internet, he said one way of easing the pressure was to go for new technologies.

IRCTC Managing Director Rakesh Tandon said value-added services would be provided in due course.

  FAVOURITE   EMAIL   PRINT At least 30 people, including 10 police personnel, were injured after people pelted stones at a stationary passenger train here on Friday morning, police said. Eight people have been arrested.

A group of people stopped the train, coming from Rohtak in Haryana to Delhi, around 7 am at west Delhi’s Nangloi railway station and started pelting stones. ‘At least 20 passengers were injured while 10 police personnel, who were sent to stop the mob, were also pelted with stones,’ said a police officer. The enraged mob stopped the train for over two hours. ‘Eight people have been arrested,’ said the officer.

The incident occurred after a fight between two groups of train passengers Thursday night. The groups were from Rohtak and Delhi’s Prem Nagar area. Around 100 people collected at Nangloi railway station Friday morning and started pelting stones, the officer said.

JAIPUR: Amidst protests from his own party workers, Congress leader and urban development and housing (UDH) minister Shanti Dhariwal laid foundation for two railway underpasses (RuBs) in the city on Friday.Chaos started when the minister reached Kalayan Nagar railway crossing after laying foundation at Arjun Nagar railway crossing. Supporters of Rajeev Arora, state vice-president of Congress, raised slogans against the minister and tried to block his way. The supporters claimed that the RuB is being sanctioned with efforts of Rajeev Arora and he is not invited for the foundation laying ceremony. With construction of the RuB, the long wait and traffic snarls at Arjun Nagar and Kalyan Nagar railway crossings will come to an end. According to Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) officials, after a long wait the designs of the railway underpasses have been approved by the Railway Board and construction will be on a cost-sharing basis between Railways and the state government.

"Though the cost will be shared, the construction will be done by the Railways," an official said adding that the estimated cost for construction of the Kalyan Nagar railway underpass will be Rs 12.31 crore, while Rs 10.35 crore will be spent to construct the Arjun Nagar railway underpass. The JDA will bear a total of Rs 12.18 crore as its share.

Explaining the designs, the official said, "The Arjun Nagar underpass will be constructed in Y-shape while the design of the Kalayan Nagar underpass is similar to the JP Pathak underpass. The JDA will also have to acquire 15-20 metre of land near the Kaylayan Nagar underpass area."

After completion of the underpasses, thousands of residents facing traffic jams everyday will have a huge relief. "There are nearly 50 colonies developed between the Gopalpura bypass and the Kartarpura where many residents travel a number of times through the route everyday. Given this fact, construction of underpasses were a necessity," said Vivek Gupta , a local resident.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, undertook a train journey through the 11-km long tunnel under the Pir Panjal mountain ranges along with school children most of whom travelled by rail for the first time. Singh interacted with students during the 18-km train journey from Banihal to Qazigund which reduces the distance between the two towns by nearly half. The Banihal-Qazigund rail section includes an 11-km long tunnel, the country's longest, built at a cost of Rs 1,691 crore. The Uttar Pradesh government led by Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Thursday gave the go-ahead to the first phase of the ambitious Metro rail project for the state capital Lucknow.At a cabinet meeting chaired by the chief minister, the first phase, to be known as the North-South corridor, was approved, a government spokesman said.Briefing media persons after the meeting, the official said the alignment and route of the Metro rail project has also been finalised and the route would initially be from the Chaudhary Charan Singh Amausi Airport to Munshi Puliya.The project will be jointly undertaken by state government agencies and the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and funds for the purpose are being arranged, officials said.In another significant decision, the state cabinet also okayed the commissioning of 1,000 additional ambulances under a 102 Emergency Service through a private service provider.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has asked Railway Minister Mallikarjun Khadge to clear pending rail-related proposals of the state at the earliest.In a letter written on Thursday, Chouhan has drawn the minister's attention towards the fact that no significant provisions were made in the 2013-14 railway budget for rail network and connectivity in Madhya Pradesh, which has disappointed the state.Madhya Pradesh is richly endowed with diverse flora and fauna, wildlife, cultural heritage, places of historical interest and pilgrimage destinations. Moreover, the state has become an emerging centre for investments in industrial and allied sectors, he said in the letter.On account of these, Madhya Pradesh is witnessing significant increase of visitors every year, he said, adding that low rail connectivity in the state is posing a great hindrance to tourism and industrial development.Many resolutions passed by the state Legislative Assembly for the improvement of the rail network and connectivity are pending before the Railway Ministry for approval, he said.

New Delhi: With the 25km long Udhampur-Katra rail line, part of the Kashmir rail link project, getting ready to be operational, two new trains for Katra have become part of the new Railway Time Table released on Friday. The 22461/22462 New Delhi-Katra-New Delhi weekly AC Express and 14503/14504 Kalka-Katra-Kalka Bi-weekly Express are part of the new Time Table which comes into effect from July. The timing of these two trains will be declared later as the Katra line is expected to be operational in September after the safety clearance from the concerned authorities, said a senior Railway Ministry official. With user-friendly features like route map, station index and trains between important stations, railways released its new Time Table. Beside, details of extension of 42 trains and increase of frequency of 23 trains have also been mentioned in the new Time Table. Commercial information of passenger use, advance reservation period, reservation through internet, Tatkal scheme, refund rules and rail travel concessions have been updated.

पूर्वोत्तर रेलवे एक जुलाई से दस विशेष ट्रेनों का तोहफा देने जा रहा है। इनमें एक ट्रेन बरेली से होकर जाएंगी। इसमें एक पैसेंजर ट्रेन बरेली और लालकुंआ के बीच चलेगी। जो सिटी स्टेशन बरेली से दोपहर दो बजे लालकुंआ के लिए रवाना होगी और वहां से सुबह नौ बजे बरेली के लिए निकलेगी। इसके शुरू होने की तिथि बाद में जारी की जाएगी।

एक जुलाई से विशेष गाड़ियों में छपरा-दिल्ली साप्ताहिक एक्सप्रेस प्रत्येक शनिवार छपरा से सुबह 11:15 बजे चलेगी। यह ट्रेन बलिया, गाजीपुर, लखनऊ, हरदोई, शाहजहांपुर होते हुए चंदौसी के रास्ते दिल्ली जाएगी। वापसी में यह ट्रेन प्रत्येक रविवार दोपहर 1:50 बजे दिल्ली से चलेगी। एक मात्र बरेली से निकलने वाली गाड़ी बांद्रा टर्मिनल-रामनगर साप्ताहिक एक्सप्रेस प्रत्येक गुरुवार सुबह 5:10 बजे बांद्रा से रवाना होगी। वापसी में गाड़ी संख्या रामनगर से प्रत्येक शनिवार सुबह 6:20 बजे चलेगी।

इसी प्रकार छपरा-दुर्ग एक्सप्रेस दैनिक छपरा से शाम 3:40 बजे चलेगी। वापसी में यह गाड़ी दुर्ग से रात 11:15 बजे रवाना होगी। मऊ-आनंद विहार एक्सप्रेस प्रत्येक गुरुवार व रविवार मऊ से शाम 6:10 बजे चलेगी, वापसी में यह ट्रेन आनंदविहार से प्रत्येक सोमवार व शुक्रवार रात 11:55 बजे चलेगी। अमृतसर-लालकुआं एक्सप्रेस सप्ताह में केवल बुधवार अमृतसर से सुबह 5:55 बजे चलेगी। वापसी में यह बुधवार रात 11:15 बजे लालकुआं से चलेगी।

जयपुर-लखनऊ-19715 एक्सप्रेस सप्ताह में प्रत्येक मंगलवार रात 9:45 बजे, शुक्रवार तड़के 2:50 और रविवार तड़के 4:40 बजे से चलेगी। वापसी में गाड़ी संख्या-19716 सोमवार रात 1:45 बजे, बुधवार रात 8:20 बजे और शनिवार शाम 6:20 बजे चलेगी। कानपुर सेंट्रल-आनंद विहार एक्सप्रेस सप्ताह में प्रत्येक रविवार कानपुर से सुबह 7:10 बजे आनंद विहार के लिए रवाना होगी। वापसी में यह ट्रेन आनंद विहार से प्रत्येक रविवार शाम 7:50 बजे चलेगी। कामाख्या-आनंद विहार एक्सप्रेस कामाख्या से प्रत्येक गुरुवार सुबह 6.10 बजे निकलेगी और आनंद विहार से वापस रात 11.45 बजे होगी।
