Train services were affected in Lower Assam following a 12-hour 'Rail-Road Blockade' called by All Assam Koch Rajbongshi Students Union (AAKRSU) today, official sources said. The blockade was called to demand a separate Kamatapur state and Scheduled Tribe status for the Koch Rajbongshis. The D N Rajdhani Express and Bangalore Express were stopped at New Bongagigaon station for several hours while the UP Kamrup Express was halted at Chirang during the protest. Senior civil, police and railway officials urged the AAKRSU activists to lift the blockade. The blockade was lifted after 2 PM and train services have since resumed, the sources added.

PUNE: Two more foot over bridges (FOBs) will come up at Pune railway station to ease the passenger rush on the two existing ones. While work on one of the proposed FOBs will start soon after the monsoon, the proposal for the second one is awaiting clearance from the head office.Officials said that one FOB will open at both sides of the station and connect all the six platforms and the second FOB will connect platform number one, two and three.The administration recently finalized plans to start work on both the bridges. Work on the smaller FOB will start first, and on the bigger one as soon as the final approval for tendering process comes from the head office, officials said.Public relation officer of Pune railway division Y K Singh said, "Additional FOBs are part of various works planned to introduce passenger-friendly initiatives on the premises of the railway station. The FOBs will help decentralize crowding of passengers at the two existing FOBs and will streamline passenger and goods movement especially during the rush hour."

Officials said there was a need to install additional FOBs considering increased movement of trains and passengers. More than one lakh passengers travel every day from the station in about 150 trains.

Frequent travellers from the station pointed out that the existing FOBs were proving insufficient during peak hours. Stampede like situations have been witnessed in the past at the old FOB that lands at both sides of the station.

Habeeb Shaikh, a traveler said, "People cannot walk on the FOB in the evening when major long distance trains arrive and depart from the station. There is a need to increase capacity of existing FOBs or construct new ones. The administration should understand that frequent overcrowding can even cause accidents."

Singh said that the FOB connecting platform number one, two and three will come up at the Solpaur end. It will help passengers entering from the main entrance to reach platforms two and three. The bigger FOB will come in between two existing FOBs and will land at both sides of the station so that passengers will be able to enter the station from the parking areas. It will save time of the passengers, he said.

The administration recently completed the repairs and extension work of FOB at Chinchwad station.

तत्काल कोटे में आरक्षित बर्थ पर बिना टिकट सफर कर रहे 36 मुसाफिरों को रेलवे के जांच दल ने रविवार देर रात पकड़ लिया। इन यात्रियों की बर्थ तो बुक थी, लेकिन उनके पास टिकट नहीं थे। इनसे जुर्माने के तौर पर करीब 32 हजार 91 रुपये जुर्माने के तौर पर वसूले गए। वरिष्ठ मंडल वाणिज्य प्रबंधक राधेश्याम ने कहा कि यह जांच लगातार जारी रहेगी।

मुंबई से तत्काल टिकट बुक कराकर गोरखपुर, गोंडा, बस्ती व लखनऊ से सफर करने वाले यात्रियों तक पहुंचाने का गोरखधंधा सामने आने के बाद रेलवे द्वारा पिछले चार दिनों से जांच कराई जा रही है। पूर्वोत्तर रेलवे की वाणिज्य शाखा के अधिकारी ट्रेन के चार्ट की मानीटरिंग कर रहे हैं और मुंबई से बुक टिकट की जांच कर रहे हैं। इसी क्रम में रविवार को कुशीनगर एक्सप्रेस की जांच में 14 मुसाफिरों को सफर करते पकड़ा गया। इनके पास मौके पर टिकट नहीं मिले। इनसे 10 हजार 587 रुपये जुर्माना वसूल किया गया। इसी तरह से लोकमान्य तिलक एक्सप्रेस में जांच के दौरान 22 यात्रियों को बिना टिकट सफर करते पकड़ा गया। इसमें सात मुसाफिर वातानुकूलित श्रेणी में तथा 15 मुसाफिर स्लीपर श्रेणी में सफर कर रहे थे। इन लोगों से 21 हजार 504 रुपये जुर्माना वसूला गया। इस तरह से जांच दल ने कुल 36 यात्रियों को पकड़ कर उनसे 32 हजार 91 रुपये जुर्माना वसूला।

वरिष्ठ मंडल वाणिज्य प्रबंधक राधेश्याम ने बताया कि ट्रैवेल एजेंटों के इस गोरखधंधे को रोकने के लिए अभियान लगातार जारी रहेगा। उन्होंने बताया कि इस संबंध में सेंट्रल रेलवे द्वारा टीमें गठित कर दी गई हैं जो मामले की जांच कर रही हैं।

इधर जांच, उधर बुकिंग

रेलवे अधिकारी ट्रैवेल एजेंट के नेटवर्क को तोड़ने के लिए जांच कर रहे हैं, लेकिन सिलसिला रुकता नजर नहीं आ रहा है। इसका अंदाजा रविवार को हुई बुकिंग से ही लगाया जा सकता है। सोमवार को कुशीनगर एक्सप्रेस में तत्काल कोटे की 344 सीटों में 278 मुंबई के विभिन्न स्टेशनों से बुक थीं। इसी तरह से लोकमान्य तिलक सुपर फास्ट एक्सप्रेस में तत्काल कोटे की 127 में 87 बर्थ मुबंई से बुक कराई गई थीं। खास बात यह है कि पुष्पक एक्सप्रेस में मुंबई से बुकिंग कम है जबकि कुशीनगर व लोकमान्य तिलक एक्सप्रेस में ही तत्काल कोटे की बर्थ मुंबई में बुक कराई जा रही है।

रेलवे की डारमेट्री अब यात्रियों को सुखद एहसास कराएगी। बेहतर खान-पान के साथ यात्रियों को चिकित्सा, इंटरनेट और ट्रांसपोर्ट समेत अन्य आलीशान सुविधाएं उपलब्ध कराई जाएंगी, जो होटलों को कड़ी टक्कर देंगी। इनका संचालन पब्लिक प्राइवेट पार्टनरशिप के तहत किया जाएगा।
पूर्वोत्तर रेलवे ने जोन के 28 स्टेशनों पर बनी डॉरमेट्री को पब्लिक प्राइवेट पार्टनरशिप की तर्ज पर विकसित करने की योजना बनाई है। इनमें होटल में मिलने वाली लगभग सारी सुविधाएं उपलब्ध होंगी। संचालन के लिए 15 साल का ठेका होगा, जिसमें स्टेशन की श्रेणी के आधार पर ठेकेदार को प्रति यात्री कमीशन मिलेगा।

यात्रियों की सुविधाओं को देखते हुए स्टेशनों पर डॉरमेट्री की सुविधाओं का विस्तार किया जा रहा है। इससे रेलवे की आय तो बढ़ेगी ही यात्रियों को भी होटल की तलाश में नहीं भटकना होगा। इनका संचालन पीपीपी मॉडल के आधार पर होगा।

LUDHIANA: With the exit of former railway minister Pawan Kumar Bansal and their hopes shattering, Ludhianvis are now pinning hopes upon the newly appointed railway minister MallikarjunKharge to improve the railway connectivity to this one of the main industrial cities of north India. The beginning of Jan Shatabdi tops the list of the residents' demands as they suffer due to no bullet train from the city to Delhi after 8am. Even information and broadcasting minister Manish Tewari, who is an MP from the city, had many a times acknowledged that the demand of the residents for Jan Shatabdi is pending with him. An industrialist from Rishi Nagar Tushar Chawla says, "The city badly needs a good train, that is, Jan Shatabdi. The city has no train after 8am till evening. It is important for the industrial development of the city. We were expecting Pawan Kumar Bansal to begin it but then he had to resign." "Now that a new railway minister has been sworn in, we hope he fulfills this demand of the residents of one of the biggest industrial cities of north India," he adds. Another industrialist from Fateh Singh Nagar Rajesh Kalra says, "Jan Shatabdi should be started soon as it will give a boost to the industries in the city. At the same time, the railway station badly needs a revamp. There is no AC waiting room at the station and even the non-AC waiting room has inadequate sitting facilities. Apart from that, the building of the railway station is also old and needs repairing. We request the new railway minister to consider our demands seriously and fulfill these at an earliest as our business is connected with the railway network."

In the meanwhile, the information and broadcasting minister said, "The beginning of Jan Shatabdi and improving facilities at the railway station are important for the city and are on my priority list. Once the new railway minister settles down, I will discuss these with him."

Ashwin Nagpal, businessman of Civil Lines, says: "The city needs a Jan Shatabdi. One more option is to add the number of higher executive class bogeys if it is possible, especially in the express trains. So far as the upgradation of the railway station is concerned, the upkeep of the station is important before upgrading the infrastructure. Dr Gurpreet Singh, resident of Pakhowal road, says: "Apart from starting good trains from the city, the modernization of the railway station is important as it is one of the main railway stations of north India. Safai karamcharis should be deployed at the station in adequate numbers to maintain hygiene. Upkar Singh, joint secretary, Chamber of Industrial & Commercial Understandings, says "Besides our demand of a Jan Shatabdi, we also want facilities like visitors lounge, additional platforms, proper food joints, elevators especially for elderly persons. We also want the authorities to repair the overbridges which are in bad shape."

A 30-year-old mentally ill woman attempted to commit suicide by lying down on the railway track on the Bangalore-Hassan route on Monday morning. The woman has been identified as Kalavathi.

With M. Mallikarjun Kharge being allotted the Railways portfolio in the Union Cabinet reshuffle on Monday, the Ministry has returned to Karnataka after a short gap.Monday’s reshuffle has also increased the number of Ministers at the Centre from Karnataka to five, with Oscar Fernandes being given the Roads and Highways Ministry.The Railways has been with Karnataka on and off since 1963. H.C. Dasappa, C.M. Poonacha, Kengal Hanumanthaiya and C.K. इंजन में आयी तकनीकी खराबी आने के कारण सहरसा से अमृतसर जाने वाली 15209 अप जनसेवा एक्सप्रेस सोमवार को एकमा स्टेशन पर करीब डेढ़ घंटे तक खड़ी रही। जिसके कारण यात्रियों को काफी परेशानियों का सामना करना पड़ा। बाद में छपरा से जब दूसरा इंजन एकमा भेजा गया तब जाकर ट्रेन आगे के लिए रवाना हुई। प्राप्त जानकारी के मुताबिक सोनपुर से जनसेवा एक्सप्रेस ठीक-ठाक चलकर एकमा स्टेशन पहुंची। स्टेशन पर खड़ी ट्रेन को जब चालक आगे बढ़ाने का प्रयास कर रहा था तो तेल प्रेशर लो दिखा रहा था। चालक ने जब इसकी जांच की तो पता चला कि तकनीकी खराबी के कारण छपरा से एकमा तक तेल गिरते हुए गया है। जिसके कारण प्रेशर काफी लो हो गया है और ट्रेन आगे नहीं बढ़ पा रही है। इसके बाद चालक नवल किशोर सिंह व सह चालक अभिषेक कुमार ने इसकी जानकारी एकमा स्टेशन मास्टर आरपी सिंह को दी। एकमा स्टेशन मास्टर ने तत्काल ही इसकी सूचना छपरा कंट्रोल को दी। इस सूचना के बाद छपरा से दूसरा डीजल इंजन एकमा भेजा गया जो ट्रेन को लेकर आगे लिए रवाना हुआ। इस दौरान करीब डेढ़ घंटे तक यात्री एकमा स्टेशन पर काफी परेशान रहे।

बलसाड़ एक्स. पर यात्रियों का कब्जा मुजफ्फरपुर: जंकशन स्थित यार्ड में सोमवार की रात सैकड़ों यात्रियों ने बलसाड़ जाने वाली 19052 श्रमिक एक्सप्रेस के जनरल व स्लीपर कोच में कब्जा जमा लिया. यार्ड में कब्जा जमाने की सूचना पर पहुंचे होमगार्ड के जवानों की यात्रियों ने पिटाई कर दी. मारपीट में एक जवान के सिर फोड़ दिया गया. हालांकि इस बात की जीआरपी ने पुष्टि नहीं की है. अनुरक्षण के समय से ही यार्ड में लगी इस ट्रेन के सामान्य कोच में यात्री घुस गये थे. इस कारण ट्रेन का अनुरक्षण भी प्रभावित हो गया. कोचिंग डिपो के सुपरवाइजर ने मेमो भेज कर पूरे मामले की जानकारी आरपीएफ को दी. होमगार्ड के जवान के पहुंचने पर यात्री उनकी बात सुनने को तैयार नहीं थे. दर्जनों यात्रियों ने होमगार्ड के जवान पर ही हमला बोल दिया. होमगार्ड के पहुंचने के बाद भी कोच को खाली नहीं कराया जा सका. आये दिन यार्ड में कब्जा जमा लेने से अनुरक्षण भी प्रभावित होता है. डिपो कर्मी का कहना था कि अक्सर यार्ड में ट्रेनों पर कब्जा कर लिया जाता है. इन दिनों बाहर जाने वाले यात्रियों की लंबी कतार है. इसके पूर्व लगातार तीन-चार दिनों तक 12557 सप्तक्रांति एक्सप्रेस के सामान्य कोच में यात्रियों ने कब्जा जमा लिया था, जिस पर आरपीएफ को लाठी चटकानी पड़ी थी. पॉकेटमार धराया वैशाली एक्सप्रेस में पॉकेटमारी करते एक युवक को दबोच कर जीआरपी के हवाले कर दिया. उसकी पहचान सरैयागंज निवासी विकास कुमार के रुप में हुई है. पुलिस पूरे मामले की छानबीन में जुटी है. बंदी को लेकर सतर्कता 18 जून को भाजपा का बिहार बंद को लेकर जंकशन पर विशेष सतर्कता बरती जा रही है. ट्रेन रोकने की सूचना पर जीआरपी व आरपीएफ को विशेष हिदायत देते हुए चौकसी बरतने को कहा है. कंपनीबाग में हंगामा कंपनीबाग आरक्षण केंद्र पर सोमवार की सुबह टिकट बिचौलिये ने फिर से कतार में लगे यात्रियों को धक्का-मुक्की कर बाहर कर दिया. मौके पर से नगर पुलिस को पूरे मामले की जानकारी दी गयी. नगर पुलिस के पहुंचने के पूर्व ही बिचौलिये मौके से फरार हो गये. वही जंकशन स्थित आरक्षण केंद्र पर भी एसीएम के देखरेख में तत्काल का टोकन दिया गया. छपरा-दुर्ग के विस्तारीकरण की मांग छपरा-दुर्ग का परिचालन बढाने की मांग जेडआरयूसीसी के सदस्य मोतीलाल छापड़िया ने छपरा-दुर्ग एक्सप्रेस का परिचालन मुजफ्फरपुर तक किये जाने की मांग जीएम से की है. उनका कहना है कि इस ट्रेन का परिचालन मुजफ्फरपुर तक किये जाने की घोषणा हो चुकी है, लेकिन तिथि तय नहीं की गयी है.
