जबलपुर. पल पल संवाददाता. इलाहाबाद-इटारसी पैसेंजर ट्रेन में अपने भाई के साथ यात्रा कर रहे सेना के जवान के साथ चलती ट्रेन में लूटपाट कर ट्रेन से भागने वाले आरोपियों में से तीन को जीआरपी ने गिरफ्तार कर लिया है वही चार आरोपी अभी भी फरार है. घटना के सम्बन्ध में मिली जानकारी के मुताबिक़ 5 जून को इलाहाबाद से जबलपुर की यात्रा कर रहे सेना के जवान को ट्रेन के स्लीमनाबाद स्टेशन पर पहुंचने के पहले ही बोगी में सवार 8 युवकों ने निशाना बनाते हुए उनके पास से मोबाइल सहित लगभग दस हजार रूपये लूट कर ट्रेन से कूद कर फरार हो गए थे. ट्रेन के जबलपुर पहुँचने पर सैन्य कर्मी ने घटना की शिकायत जीआरपी में दर्ज कराई थी. जीआरपी ने बताये हुए हुलिये के आधार पर कारवाई करते हुए इस लूट को अंजाम देने वाले तीन आरोपी भानतलैया निवासी अविनाश, रानीताल निवासी लखन कुमार और भानतलैया निवासी रोहित को गिरफ्तार कर लिया है जबकि गुल्लू, सचिन, राजा सहित एक अन्य आरोपी अभी भी फरार है. |

ALLAHABAD: Extending a new facility to the passengers, Indian Railways is now offering passengers to book retiring rooms at the railway station through the IRCTC website.Instead of arranging for accommodation anywhere else, passengers may now book a place in the retiring rooms at the stations through the website.In this connection, Director Traffic Commercial (G) SK Ahirwar in the Railway Board has written letters (dated June 6, 2013) to all zonal railways to begin offering the facility.All zonal railways across the country have been advised to take necessary steps to facilitate booking at railway stations where the retiring rooms exist.Advance booking can be done through internet on a ticket purchased through PRS during the reservation period prescribed for purchase of tickets. The system will validate authenticity of the ticket.Booking of retiring rooms will be permitted only against confirmed/RAC tickets and will not be permitted against wait-listed ticket, card tickets or platform tickets. The customer will have to register on the website for the booking and give PNR number for the transaction to be linked to PRS booking. On one PRS ticket, up to three retiring rooms can be booked. The booking will also be available on arrival at the railway station on PRS/UTS/card ticket. |

The news of auctioning the historic Sir Arthur Elibank Havelock Bridge across the Godavari shortly by the Railway Board came as a rude shock to the people of Rajahmundry as well as East and West Godavari district.In a recent meeting, the General Manager of South Central Railway informed the local MLA that the Railway Board had taken a decision to auction the Bridge as scrap.Immediately, the MLA appealed to Rajahmundry MP Vundavalli Arun Kumar to keep the decision of the Railway Board in abeyance and then represent it to Union Railway Minister and State Minister.The issue, which has been hanging fire for long, has come to the fore again, when Union Minister of State for Railways Kotla Suryaprakash Reddy came to Rajahmundry in the month of December, 2012.After serving the Indian Railways for over a century, the Havelock Bridge was abandoned.After the news was broke out, historians, academicians, intellectuals, elite and non-government organisations along with political parties decided to take up agitations to protect the historical monument. |

LUDHIANA: With the exit of former railway minister Pawan Kumar Bansal and their hopes shattering, Ludhianvis are now pinning hopes upon the newly appointed railway minister MallikarjunKharge to improve the railway connectivity to this one of the main industrial cities of north India. The beginning of Jan Shatabdi tops the list of the residents' demands as they suffer due to no bullet train from the city to Delhi after 8am. Even information and broadcasting minister Manish Tewari, who is an MP from the city, had many a times acknowledged that the demand of the residents for Jan Shatabdi is pending with him. An industrialist from Rishi Nagar Tushar Chawla says, "The city badly needs a good train, that is, Jan Shatabdi. The city has no train after 8am till evening. It is important for the industrial development of the city. We were expecting Pawan Kumar Bansal to begin it but then he had to resign." "Now that a new railway minister has been sworn in, we hope he fulfills this demand of the residents of one of the biggest industrial cities of north India," he adds. Another industrialist from Fateh Singh Nagar Rajesh Kalra says, "Jan Shatabdi should be started soon as it will give a boost to the industries in the city. At the same time, the railway station badly needs a revamp. There is no AC waiting room at the station and even the non-AC waiting room has inadequate sitting facilities. Apart from that, the building of the railway station is also old and needs repairing. We request the new railway minister to consider our demands seriously and fulfill these at an earliest as our business is connected with the railway network." |

MARGAO: After a hot chase along the Margao railway station tracks, RPF constables EshwarRao and ShivappaRathod nabbed alleged notorious bag thief AshokPatil, a native of Hattigola, Karwar. They recovered from him a handbag, a bag containing clothes, two cellphones and 2,100. Patil had allegedly snatched the same from two passengers of the Matsyagandha Express on Monday morning. Sources said he has confessed to also snatching a bag containing 1 lakh a month ago. Patil was handed over to the Konkan railway police for further investigation. Constable Rathod sustained injuries in the process of nabbing Patil, as the latter hit back.8 tourists get bail in kidnapping case: Children's court judge Anuja Prabhudesai on Monday granted conditional bail to all the eight accused, who were arrested in connection with the Colva kidnapping case. The eight accused were released on a personal bond of 10,000 with one surety, but Umar Sheikh was asked to produce a local surety. Train services were affected in Lower Assam following a 12-hour 'Rail-Road Blockade' called by All Assam Koch Rajbongshi Students Union (AAKRSU) today, official sources said. The blockade was called to demand a separate Kamatapur state and Scheduled Tribe status for the Koch Rajbongshis. The D N Rajdhani Express and Bangalore Express were stopped at New Bongagigaon station for several hours while the UP Kamrup Express was halted at Chirang during the protest. Senior civil, police and railway officials urged the AAKRSU activists to lift the blockade. The blockade was lifted after 2 PM and train services have since resumed, the sources added. |

The Government Railway Police (GRP) and the Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Vijayawada discussed on how to prevent the possible Maoist attacks and other crimes on moving trains or on isolated railway stations. At a security meeting held here, GRP Superintendent of Police Ch. Syam Prasad, Guntakal Division Railway SP Munu Swamy, RPF Divisional Security Commissioner Ramesh Chandra and officers from about 10 districts talked about impending threats to the railway passengers and properties. Following the Maoist attack on Dhanbad-Patna Intercity Express near Jamui in Bihar on June 13, in which three persons were killed and six others were injured and Chhattisgarh naxal attack killing 29 people, including some Congress party and Salwa Judum leaders on May 25, the railway police were asked to carry weapons compulsorily while on beat duties. |
