The Railway Administration is going to start four special trains between Bhopal and Hoshangabad railway stations on July 8 for devotees to have holy dip in Narmada River on the occasion of Somvati Amavasya.Bhopal Railway Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Rajeev Chowdhury has issued orders for preparations and arrangements of facilities and security on the Bhopal and Hoshangabad railway stations.Senior Divisional Commercial Manager (SDCM) Brijendra Kumar said that first special train on July 8 will depart from Bhopal railway station at 3:50 am and will reach Hoshangabad at 5:30 am. The second train with train number 01633 will start from Hoshangabad station at 6:30 am and will reach Bhopal at 9 am.Kumar further said that the third fair special train with number 01632 will start from Bhopal at 6:25 pm and will reach Hoshangabad at 9 pm. The last special train with number 01631 will depart from Hoshangabad railway station at 10 pm and will reach Bhopal at 11:55 pm.Kumar said that all the special trains between Bhopal and Hoshangabad will halt at Habibganj, Misrod, Mandideep, Obadullahganj, Barkheda and Budni railway stations. Total 8 coaches will be present in the special trains including six general coaches and two SLR. |

Bathinda : A surprise mock drill conducted by the Railways Ambala Division left the city-based NGOs and mediaperons perplexed. The railways chose a rather busy day - panchayat samiti elections - to hold the drill.At 3 pm, the media offices got calls from various quarters of the city claiming that a tragedy had happened at the unmanned railway crossing near Katar Singh Wala village. It was claimed that a truck rammed into a moving train killing four persons in the accident.The office of the Deputy Station Superintendent asked the Sahara Welfare Society and Young Welfare Society to send three ambulances and manpower for the rescue work.NGO president Vijay Goyal said two ambulances reached the spot, while third one was on its way when the NGO was told that it was a mock drill. “Whenever the oil depot companies hold a mock drill, they send a letter informing about the event to the NGOs at least 10 days in advance. It is up to the NGOs whether they want to participate in the drill or not,” said Goyal.However, in this case, the railway authorities kept the entire mock drill under the wraps. A member of the NGO said people suffered because of the fake call as help could not reach them on time.“Had we been informed that it was a mock drill, we would have preferred not to participate and instead concentrate on our social work,” said Goyal.Government Railways Police SHO Kuljeet Singh and officials of the district police were not aware about the event.It is learnt that even the railway officials were caught unawares. S V Ranganath, Chief Secretary, GoK along with principal secretaries of the IDD and Revenue departments were also present for the meet All ongoing railway projects in Karnataka were reviewed in detail. According to a SWR release, of the 27 projects in Karnataka, at an anticipated cost of Rs.22400 crores, cost for 16 are being shared by GoK. |
