To expedite the construction of the dedicated freight corridor (DFC), Railways has undertaken steps to resolve issues involving bidding process in the Western wing of the project.The project is funded by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the Japanese government arm for providing technical and financial aid to developing countries and also DMRC's lending agency.There were certain issues involving the bidding for the 322-km-long Iqbalgarh-Vadodara route in the Western DFC which were discussed with JICA to expedite the project, Railway Board Chairman Arunendra Kumar said.Kumar had gone on a four-day visit to Japan to discuss modalities of JICA funding and other issues involved with the DFC project.Our aim is to maintain the tempo on the DFC and efforts are on to meet the target deadline, he said.The Western DFC from Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust to Dadri covering a length of about 1,500 km is being funded by JICA, which has pledged a special terms for economic partnership loan of 677 billion yen for the entire corridor.According to loan conditionalities, the lead partner for any contract has to be from Japan and there will be a consortium with Indian companies to execute the job.Though Rs 6,700-crore contract for construction of 640-km twin-track line between Rewari and Palanpur of Western DFC was awarded to L&T-Sojitz, a joint venture comprising L&T of India and Sojitz Corporation of Japan, the bidding process hit roadblocks in the Iqbalgarh-Vododara section.The submission date of financial bids for the route has been extended thrice since July and it has to be submitted by September 30."However, it seems there will be a fourth extension up to October 30 as Japanese companies are seeking more time. But this will be the last extension," said a senior Railway Ministry official involved with the project.While the Western DFC is expected to be completed by December 2017, the target for the Eastern DFC is March 2018."Railways will buy 200 electric locomotives of 9000 horse power each from Japan for the DFC. The high-power locomotives will be bought from Japan as it is part of the loan agreement," said Kumar.He said the construction of DFC is crucial for Railways as it will move the freight traffic on faster pace which will help industry. "It will also help in decongesting the existing track as total freight traffic will be shifted to the DFC leaving more space for passenger trains," he said.

If you thought parking your vehicle on a road identified for the construction of a parking lot would be a safe bet, think again. The Metro Rail project may just come in your way.This week, Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) has asked the Chennai Corporation to remove certain roads from its list of stretches earmarked for parking lots. These stretches, short-listed last year by the city traffic police for the Corporation, will be unavailable for parking as traffic diversions will come into effect to make way for Metro Rail construction.Stretches including Frazer Bridge Road, Blackers Road and General Patters Road will have no parking space for a few months. Some stretches already have diversions in place and parking has been discontinued on them.Last year, the civic body had joined hands with the city traffic police to cope with the increasing number of obstructions on roads caused by haphazard parking. The traffic police had them compiled a list after a study of congested stretches across 11 zones in the city.Officials in each of these zones had been asked to use the traffic police’s list and increase the number of parking lots in their areas.The Corporation was in the process of commissioning parking lots on the roads short-listed by the traffic police. However, this plan is now being modified to take into account space taken over by Metro Rail and more roads are likely to be taken off the list as Metro work progresses, an official said.Royapuram, with over 120 parking lots will emerge as the zone with the largest number of lots in the city. Roads such as Ramanathan Salai, Wallajah Road, Harris Road, Rajaji Salai, EVK Sampath Salai and Vepery High Road will be much better in terms of parking space. Anna Nagar will have as many as 72 new parking lots .Roads in Tondiarpet, Thiru-Vi-Ka Nagar, Ambattur, Teynampet, Kodambakkam, Valasaravakkam, Alandur, Adyar and Perungudi zones will be among the stretches where parking lots will come up.This apart, the traffic police will also intensify action against those parking on stretches not on their list, an official said.The Corporation also recently decided to hand over a total of 496 stretches in the city — including those that come under the traffic police’s list — to TEXCO (Tamilnadu Ex-Servicemen’s Corporation Limited) to make them available for the parking of vehicles.At present, personnel appointed by TEXCO have been permitted by the State government to collect Rs. 5 per six hours or Rs. 20 per day for the parking of cars on these roads. Motorcycles or three-wheelers are permitted to park free of charges, according to a government order.However, with Metro Rail work speeding up, the Corporation will now have to revoke parking permission on many of these stretches, an official said. This will be decided depending on the progress of Metro Rail work in the area, he added.

नए शहर को मेट्रो तो मिली, लेकिन उसमें अब पैर रखने की भी जगह नहीं है। वहीं अब पुराना शहर भी बेसब्री से मेट्रो के आने का इंतजार कर रहा है। इसके लिए लोगों ने न सिर्फ कई बार आंदोलन किए, बल्कि सीएम को ज्ञापन भी दिया। अब लोग उम्मीद कर रहे हैं कि विधानसभा चुनाव के पूर्व इस दिशा में कोई ठोस आश्वासन मिल सकता है। पुराने शहर में मेट्रो आने से जहां लोगों को जाम से राहत मिलेगी, वहीं समय व पैसे की भी बचत होगी।
तेजी से विश्व के नक्शे में अपनी जगह बना रही साइबर सिटी के पुराने शहर को अब मेट्रो की दरकार है। नए शहर का कुछ हिस्सा तो मेट्रो की जद में आ चुका है और बाकी के लिए विस्तार की प्रक्रिया पाइप लाइन में है। वहीं पुराने शहर में जाम की समस्या विकराल है। पार्किंग की जगह नहीं है, जिस कारण लोग, सड़कों पर ही गाड़ियों पार्क कर रहे हैं। इसी के चलते पुराना शहर अब बेसब्री से मेट्रो का इंतजार कर रहा है। यदि पुराने शहर में मेट्रो आई तो यहां की सड़कों पर संभवत ट्रैफिक का दबाव कम हो जाएगा। करीब दो साल से पुराने शहर के लोग नए शहर को पुराने शहर से जोड़ते हुए द्वारका मेट्रो से कनेक्टिविटी करने को लेकर आंदोलन भी कर रहे हैं। इसके लिए कोई हस्ताक्षर अभियान तो कई ने धरना, प्रदर्शन व सीएम भूपेंद्र सिंह हुड्डा को ज्ञापन भी सौंपे। सीएम के आश्वासन से लोगों को उम्मीद है कि इस संबंध में जल्द ही कोई निर्णय सरकार स्तर पर लिया जाना है।
मेट्रो के इस रूट की उठ रही आवाज
वर्तमान में हुडा सिटी सेंटर, इफको चौक, एमजी रोड, सिकंदरपुर, कुतुबमीनार होते हुए दिल्ली से कनेक्टिविटी है। अब लोग पुराने शहर में दो रूट पर मेट्रो लाने कीआवाज बुलंद कर रहे हैं। पहला रूट हुडा सिटी सेंटर से सुभाष चौक, राजीव चौक, लघु सचिवालय, जिला अस्पताल, बस स्टैंड से ज्वाला मिल, उद्योग विहार और वहां कापसहेड़ा होते हुए द्वारका मेट्रो लाइन तो दूसरा रूट बस स्टैंड, सदर बाजार, सेक्टर चार-सात चौक, रेलवे स्टेशन, सेक्टर चार-पांच चौक, पालम विहार,सेक्टर 22-23 होते हुए ज्वाला मिल पर मेट्रो दौड़ाने की मांग कर रहे हैं।

Clearance for electrified Dindigul-Virudhunagar line kept pending

Divisional Railway Manager A.K. Rastogi’s failure to accompany Commissioner of Railway Safety Satish Kumar Mittal led to cancellation of inspection of the electrified broad-gauge line between Dindigul and Virudhunagar, scheduled for Tuesday morning.Railway sources told The Hindu that Mr.Rastogi was with Minister of State for Railways Kotla Jaya Surya Prakash Reddy, who was in Madurai in connection with the inauguration of escalators. “The Minister was scheduled to visit Madurai on Wednesday and Thursday. However, only a couple of days bachis programme was advanced to Tuesday,” an official said. Therefore, Additional Divisional Railway Manager V.Ajith Kumar and other officials were asked to accompany the Commissioner of Railway Safety. The special rail formation with a diesel locomotive was scheduled to leave Dindigul at 8.10 a.m.Mr.Mittal had been waiting since 7 a.m. Around 7.15 a.m., the entire technical team from Chennai and Madurai gathered on platform one where the decorated train attached to an electric and diesel engine was stationed.When the officials approached the CRS for his consent for departure, he insisted that DRM Rastogi accompany him during the trial run.Mr.Rastogi had reportedly informed the officials that he would join them at Madurai. Finally, the programme was cancelled, and the CRS left for Bangalore around 12.30 p.m.ADRM Ajith Kumar said inspection was cancelled owing to technical reasons. The new date would be announced shortly. An official said had the electrification project been cleared the railways would have saved on fuel cost.

RAJKOT: Railways will attach one extra III AC coach each in Rajkot-Secunderabad Express and Secunderabad-Rajkot Express train on temporary basis for the convenience of passengers.Railway officials said one extra III AC coach will be attached in Rajkot-Secunderabad Express from July 18, up to August 1, 2013. Also, one extra III AC coach will be attached in Secunderabad-Rajkot Express from July 16 up to July 30, 2013.This train will now comprise of total 22 coaches, including 2 II AC, 2 III AC, 12 II sleeper, 3 general and 3 luggage vans.

प्रतिदिन धनबाद से गोमो की ओर जाने वाले यात्रियों के लिए अ\'छी खबर। उनकी पसंदीदा ट्रेन सिंदरी-धनबाद पैसेंजर को फिर से गोमो तक चलाया जाएगा। इसको ले धनबाद रेल मंडल द्वारा भेजे गए प्रस्ताव को रेलवे बोर्ड ने मंजूरी दे दी है। हालांकि यह ट्रेन कब से गोमो तक जाएगी, इस संबंध में फिलहाल कोई अधिकारी कुछ नहीं बता पा रहे। अधिकारियों की मानें तो बोर्ड का आदेश एक दो दिनों में धनबाद पहुंच जाएगा। आदेश मिलने के बाद कुछ औपचारिकताएं पूरी कर 53327 सिंदरी धनबाद पैसेंजर का परिचालन गोमो तक शुरू करवा दिया गया।
बदलेगा समय
इस ट्रेन के समय में बदलाव किया गया है। हालांकि यह आंशिक है। ग्रैंड कॉर्ड सेक्शन से गुजरने वाली अन्य ट्रेनों के समय और सुविधा को ध्यान में रखकर इसके समय में बदलाव किया गया है।

As many as 125 vehicles lying unclaimed in the parking lots of Delhi Metro stations will soon go up for auction. Senior Delhi Metro officials said during a survey they have found over a hundred vehicles parked on the Metro premises for months with no one to claim them.Vehicles lying unclaimed on the Delhi Metro premises are a major security risk, top Delhi Metro officials said.The Metro network is a sensitive zone owing to a large number of people who choose it to commute. Metro officials say there is a need to monitor their parking lots regularly and report the cases of unclaimed vehicles to the police."Vehicles parked on our premises for months become a vulnerable point for us," said a senior DMRC official.The official said the DMRC wrote to the Delhi Police in June last week, giving them the entire list of vehicles parked in various parking lots. The Metro authorities have also asked the police to examine the list and compare them against their own list of vehicles reportedly lost or involved in any crime case."As soon as we get a clearance from the police, confirming that the vehicles in the list aren't involved in any criminal cases, we will initiate the process of auctioning them," said the official.

According to the DMRC's list, stations at Seelampur, Welcome, Shastri Park, Pulbangash, Tees Hazari and Anand Vihar have unclaimed vehicles lying at their parking lots.

Another reason why Delhi Metro conducts these periodic checks is to get rid of these vehicles that occupy spaces where other vehicles can be parked.

Also, contractors will incur losses because of these vehicles. A contractor of the DMRC's Seelampur parking lot said, "We have been constantly telling DMRC to tow away these vehicles. For every vehicle that has been parked here, we lose Rs.2,000 a month."

नई दिल्ली।  पर्यटन निगम द्वारा राजधानी में आयोजित विभिन्न समारोहों की जानकारी अब पर्यटकों को दिल्ली मेट्रो में यात्रा के दौरान भी मिल सकेगी। इतना ही नहीं, शनिवार और रविवार को मेट्रो की सवारी करने वाले पर्यटकों के लिए सीटों का आरक्षण भी किया जाएगा। यह कदम दिल्ली मेट्रो रेल कॉरपोरेशन (डीएमआरसी) ने दिल्ली टूरिज्म एंड ट्रांसपोर्टेशन कॉरपोरेशन (डीटीटीडीसी) के साथ हुए साझा करार के बाद उठाया है।



इसके एवज में पर्यटन निगम अपने विभिन्न केंद्रों में दिल्ली मेट्रो के पर्यटक कार्डों की बिक्री कर डीएमआरसी का प्रचार-प्रसार करने में मददगार बनेगी। मेट्रो भवन में आयोजित समारोह के दौरान डीएमआरसी के प्रबंध निदेशक मंगू सिंह की मौजूदगी में डीएमआरसी डायरेक्टर ऑपरेशन शरत शर्मा और डीटीटीडीसी के एमडी और सीईओ जीजी सक्सेना ने एमओयू पर हस्ताक्षर किए।

किस तरह मेट्रो देगा पर्यटन में बढ़ावा
  पर्यटन निगम के साथ हुए साझा करार के बाद मुसाफिरों को मेट्रो स्टेशन पर सभी पर्यटन केंद्रों की झलकियां दिखाई देंगी। इन झलकियों में पर्यटन केंद्र के महत्व और इतिहास के साथ अन्य जानकारियां पर्यटकों को दी जाएंगी।
ञ्च  पांच प्रमुख मेट्रो स्टेशनों पर पर्यटन निगम के इन्फॉर्मेशन काउंटर खोलने के लिए डीएमआरसी जगह उपलब्ध कराएगा। इस प्रोजेक्ट की शुरुआत ब्लूलाइन स्थित द्वारका मेट्रो स्टेशन से किया जाएगा।

  पर्यटक स्थलों से संबंधित बैनर को मेट्रो स्टेशन पर लगे विज्ञापन पैनलों पर लगाया जाएगा। पटेल चौक मेट्रो स्टेशन पर स्थित मेट्रो म्यूजियम में भी पर्यटक स्थलों की जानकारी मुसाफिरों से साझा की जाएगी।

  साकेत मेट्रो स्टेशन के करीब स्थित कुतुब मीनार, गार्डन ऑफ फाइव सेंसेज और कुतुब कांप्लेक्स तक पहुंचने के लिए दिल्ली मेट्रो पर्यटकों को साकेत मेट्रो स्टेशन से किराए पर साइकिल उपलब्ध कराएगी। 



सभी मेट्रो स्टेशनों सहित मेट्रो ट्रेन के भीतर पर्यटन निगम द्वारा आयोजित दिल्ली के पकवान, काइट फेस्टिवल, मैंगो फेस्टिवल, गार्डन फेस्टिवल और इत्र फेस्टिवल जैसे आयोजनों की जानकारी दी जाएगी।



  शनिवार और रविवार के दिन दिल्ली मेट्रो की सभी ट्रेनों में पर्यटकों के लिए सीटें आरक्षित की जाएगी। पर्यटक स्थल तक पहुंचाने के लिए पर्यटन निगम पर्यटकों को वैकल्पिक साधन भी उपलब्ध कराएगा।



पर्यटन निगम की मदद से डीएमआरसी का भी होगा प्रचार-प्रसार

  पर्यटकों को पर्यटन स्थलों की जानकारी मुहैया कराने के लिए पर्यटन निगम प्रचार सामग्री, पंपलेट, रूट मैप सहित अन्य सामाग्री डीएमआरसी को मुहैया कराएगा। यह सामग्री मेट्रो स्टेशन पर खुलने वाले इनफार्मेशन काउंटर पर उपलब्ध होंगे।



  पर्यटन निगम के सभी आउट लेट्स पर दिल्ली मेट्रो के पर्यटन कार्डों की बिक्री की जाएगी। पर्यटन कार्डों की बिक्री के लिए पर्यटन निगम अपने सभी आउटलेट पर डीएमआरसी के सेंटर खोलने के लिए जगह उपलब्ध कराएगी।
ञ्च  पर्यटन निगम द्वारा आयोजित होने वाले सभी समारोहों और आयोजनों में दिल्ली मेट्रो के प्रचार प्रसार के लिए डीएमआरसी को भी शामिल किया जाएगा।



100 में एक दिन और 250 रुपए में तीन दिन कर सकेंगे मेट्रो की अनगिनत सवारी
पर्यटन केंद्रों पर खुलने वाले डीएमआरसी के सेंटरों में पर्यटकों को दो तरह के पर्यटक कार्ड मुहैया कराए जाएंगे। इसमें एक दिन की वैधता वाला पर्यटन कार्ड 100 रुपए में मिलेगा, वहीं तीन दिन की वैधता वाला पर्यटन कार्ड 250 रुपए में उपलब्ध होगा। इन कार्ड की मदद से पयर्टन मेट्रो में अनगिनत सवारी कर सकेंगे

Stating that the State government had given sufficient land to the Airport Authority of India (AAI) at Dabolim for their ongoing expansion including parking facility, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, on Wednesday, firmly ruled out giving more land to AAI unless it submits a proper utilisation plan.Speaking on the issue at a press conference after the Cabinet meeting, he said that his government had taken a decision to allot “need-based” land to Central agencies in the State, instead of allotting them land as per their whims and fancies.Responding to the issue of parking land for the expanded Dabolim airport, Mr. Parrikar said according to the government, the land given to the AAI of nearly 1 lakh sq m was more than sufficient for all purposes.Referring to the earlier letters of the AAI to the State government seeking land, Mr. Parrikar read out the contents of the past two letters and said that nowhere had they sought additional land for parking facility. What they had sought was land for aeronautical facility, cargo warehouse and fuel farm. He said the government could not give them land for all these facilities at the airport.Maintaining that the parking facility for at least 1,500 vehicles could be easily created at the Dabolim airport, the Chief Minister maintained that there was a parking space for around 550 vehicles just adjacent to the airport as well as additional parking spaces around the airport, which can accommodate more vehicles.

On the contentious issue of demand for re-notifying the denotified land, which was earlier acquired by the erstwhile government for parking facility at the airport and subsequently denotified at the behest of the land owner for the latter to go in for a real estate project, he said: “The question of whether or not to re-notify the land denotified by the previous government arises only when the government gets proper communication from the AAI with detailed utilisation plans.”He also said that buildings had now come up in the said land.

The Chief Minister was not clearly happy with the letter and a note sent by the AAI detailing out its requirement of land for the expansion of Dabolim airport. In its three-page detailed justification sent on April 12, 2013 outlining its plans for Dabolim parking area, it favoured acquisition of about 19.58 acres of land explaining what it intended to do with each parcel of land.

Interestingly, the note listed out the fact that the 9.02 acre de-notified land (Survey No 8/1) was to be used for parking, warehouse, fuel farms, amongst others. What seemed to have upset Mr. Parrikar was that the anti-dual airport groups and activists have been using the letters of AAI to put pressure on the Parrikar government to cancel the de-notification of land on one hand and scrap the proposed Mopa airport proposal on the other.

Mr. Parrikar said his government had decided not to give land for any Central government agency beyond their genuine need. He disclosed that the National Institute of Technology had sought 300 acres of land, which the government had brought down to 120 acres after evaluating their needs.

His government had rejected a demand of land by the Central Industrial Security Force for a township at Pernem and same by the Border Security Force for their camp at Adpoi.

He also criticised the Mormugao Port Trust (MPT) management for trying to pursue projects of its economic benefit without taking into consideration Goa’s interest.

As such, he said his government had rejected the proposal of the South Western Railway to lay a double railway track in Goa sector, which was more for the benefit of MPT to have double railway line connecting the port. “We have rejected the proposal and consequently the land allotment for the same as this double-line is not for Goa’s benefit but for the benefit of the privatised coal berths of MPT and the industries which were importing the coal through MPT,” said Mr. Parrikar.

Significantly, early this year, the State Pollution Control Board had stopped the coal operations at some of the berths of the MPT on the grounds of inadequate pollution control measures.

‘Excess land will not be given unless the authority submits a proper utilisation plan’

उत्तर रेलवे की अप और डाउन की करीब दो सौ ट्रेनों की समय सारणी एक जुलाई से बदल जाएगी। रेलवे अधिकारी ट्रेनों की नई समय सारिणी तैयार करने में लगे हैं। रेल अधिकारियों कि मानें तो नई समय सारिणी में कुछ नई ट्रेनें भी शामिल की जाएंगी। राजधानी, इलाहाबाद-हरिद्वार, आला हजरत, इंटरसिटी समेत 200 ट्रेनों का समय बदला जाएगा। कुछ ट्रेनों की नई समय सारिणी तैयारी हो चुकी है। स्टेशन प्रबंधक ने बताया कि एक-दो दिनों में नई समय सारिणी बन जाएगी, जो एक जुलाई से डिस्प्ले बोर्ड और नोटिस बोर्डो पर दिखने लगेगी।
