विदर्भात मुसळधार पावसामुळे जनजीवन विस्कळीत झालं असून रेल्वेलाही मोठा फटका बसला आहे. नागपूरजवळ पावसाच्या पाण्यामुळे रेल्वे रूळाखालील माती वाहून गेल्याने मुंबईसह दक्षिणेकडे जाणारी वाहतूक ठप्प झाली आहे. यामुळे रेल्वेने काही एक्स्प्रेस गाड्या रद्द केल्या आहेत. तर काही गाड्या पर्यायी मार्गाने वळविण्यात आल्या आहेत.

नागपूर - वर्धा मार्गावर सिंदी आणि तुळजापूर-दहेगाव रेल्वे स्थानकांदरम्यान रूळाखालची माती वाहून गेली आहे. त्यामुळे या मार्गावरची रेल्वे वाहतूक थांबवण्यात आली आहे. यामुळे मध्य रेल्वेने काही गाड्या रद्द केल्या आहेत. तर काही गाड्या पर्यायी मार्गाने वळवण्यात आल्याचे मध्य रेल्वेच्या सूत्रांनी सांगितले. नवी
दिल्ली-चेन्नई मार्गावरील गाड्या इटारसी-खंडवा-भुसावळ मार्गे वळविण्यात आल्या आहेत. तर नागपूरहून सुटणाऱ्या ११ गाड्या रद्द केल्या आहेत.

अतिवृष्टीमुळे चंद्रपूर व हिंगणघाट येथे रेल्वे रूळ पाण्याखाली बुडाले . त्यामुळे शुक्रवारी दक्षिणेकडून येणाऱ्या गाड्यांना ३ ते ४ तास उशीर झाला . १२४२९ बंगलोर - हजरत निमामुद्दीन राजधानी एक्स्प्रेस आज शुक्रवारी चार तास उशिराने आली , तर राप्तीसागर एक्स्प्रेस , त्रिवेंद्रम - कोरबा या गाड्यांना जवळपास पावणेतीन तास उशीर झाला . नागपूरवरून दक्षिणेकडे जाणाऱ्या गाड्या त्यांच्या नियोजित वेळीच सुटल्या . आज सकाळपासून सुरू असलेल्या मुसळधार पावसामुळे चंद्रपूर आणि हिंगणघाट रेल्वे स्थानकावरील रूळ पाण्याखाली आले . त्यामुळे या गाड्या थांबवून ठेवण्यात आल्या . ज ‍ वळपास दोन तासांनी हे पाणी ओसरल्यावर रेल्वे वाहतूक सुरळीत झाले . रात्रीही पाऊस असाच सुरू राहिल्यास रेल्वे वाहतुकीवर काही प्रमाणात त्याचा परिणाम होऊ शकतो , अशी माहिती सूत्रांनी दिली .

MUMBAI: The new State Urban Development Department UdaySamant, today, visited the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) and an overview of the projects implemented by the Authority.The all-project presentation was made to the State Minister by the Metropolitan Commissioner, UPS Madan. The presentation included on-going projects such as Metro Rail, Mono Rail, Sahar Elevated Road, Amar Mahal Junction flyover, Santacruz-Chembur Link Road, Rental Housing, Extended Mumbai Urban Infrastructure Project, Integrated Municipal Solid Waste Management Project, Surya Bulk Water Supply Project, Multi-Modal Corridor among others."The recently opened Eastern Freeway has been serving the Mumbaikars a great extent", said Samant. "The Authority has been implementing big-ticket projects which include resettlement and rehabilitation of the families affected by them. One will have to appreciate the work done by the Authority since it also included rehabilitation of religious structures which normally is a very sensitive issue", concluded the State UDD Minister.The State Minister was also briefed on the new projects such as BKC-EEH connector which will connect BKC and Chunabhatti area near Eastern Express Highway and Kherwadi Junction flyover which is expected to complete by 2014. Very soon MMRDA is planning to initiate third metro rail project between COlaba and Seepz in Andheri which will be a 33 km route. Similarly it is likely to take Nhava-Sewri sea link, a 22 km bridge connecting Mumbai and Navi Mumbai towards Panvel.

L&T Metro Rail Hyderabad (L&TMRH), the concessionaire that builds the Hyderabad Metro Rail project, announced that the rails sourced from TATA Steel (France) would be laid within a month on the first stretch Nagole to Mettuguda.

Mr VB Gadgil MD & CEO of L&TMRH said that “So far, citizens have been witnessing pier construction and laying of viaduct, but soon we will be taking the work to a new level, which involves laying of tracks, signalling and telecommunications work. We are planning to run the first train on March 23, 2015.”

Speaking to reporters, he said the rails would be welded together and fixed to the concrete beam without using the traditional ballast so that comfort for the traveller would be more. He said that “We are trying to complete the civil work first before taking the next step in a coordinated manner. About 10 launch girders to form the viaduct are ready in different locations.”

Parapet walls are also being built alongside the twin tracks on the viaduct, but the train will be visible from the window level while in motion. Several special features form part of the track work, and they include putting up ‘check rails’, which will help to minimise wear and tear of the main rail, besides preventing derailment on sharp curves.

A ticket checking drive conducted by Vijayawada Division of Railway Assistant Commercial Manager Ch. Lakshminarasimham at Kovvur Railway Station on Friday on all trains resulted in booking of 162 cases of passengers travelling without tickets and carrying unbooked luggage. The Railways realised Rs. 59,625. Twenty passengers, who failed to pay the dues, were prosecuted. The RPF and GRP personnel were also part of the drive. These checks along with sanitation drives will continue on station premises, the release said.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh chaired a meeting on the progress of infrastructure development in the north-eastern region.Among those present at the meeting were finance minister, civil aviation minister, railway minister, minister for road transport and highways, telecom minister, minister for power, minister for DONER and the deputy chairman of the planning commission.Railway, road, airport, power and telecom projects in the region were reviewed in the meeting. The focus was to speed up implementation of ongoing projects and also to ensure electronic connectivity. The deputy chairman of the planning commission reported that eight states of the region grew at 9.95 percent during the XI plan period, well above the national average of 8 percent. The finance ministry would give an additional ₹400 crore for the completion of the three critical railway projects in the north-east by March 2014.The three projects are the Harmati-Naharlagun project to provide the first rail connectivity to Arunachal Pradesh, the Dudhnoi-Mendipathar project to connect Meghalaya, and the Rangapara-North Lakhimpur project. 

The railway ministry committed that the first trial runs will begin on these lines in January 2014. The finance ministry will also provide up to ₹200 crore for two more projects i.e. the Lumding-Silchar gauge conversion and the Bogibeel Bridge. Also, additional funds from the NLCPR would be provided for Intra-State Transmission line networks in Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim

An Empowered Committee will be set up to monitor progress on all infrastructure projects in the region. 

The prime minister also directed the Planning Commission to call a meeting of all the chief ministers of the north-eastern states to improve inter-state coordination for speedy completion of the infrastructure projects.
